Giants and fairies and murder, oh, my!

Life on the Enchanted Coast just got a whole lot more interesting. With expansions to the resort that include a wing for larger species - giants, to be exact - and a forest complete with fairy pools and cottages to attract woodland species, witch Destiny Maganti is facing a whole new influx of paranormal guests.

When a mysterious woman is murdered during the official grand opening and a fairy loved by all is accused, she has her hands full. For the first time ever, the resort is divided, and it's all she can do to hold it together.

On top of solving a murder, she's also tasked with finding a replacement manager for the tiki. From stuffy professor types to lackadaisical surfers, her applicant pool is as frustrating as it entertaining, but something's gotta give. After all, she's a witch, not a superhero.

Join Destiny, Tempest, Colin, and the rest of the Enchanted Coast crew on yet another magical, fast-paced adventure full of humor, fruity drinks, and homicide.

I was born and raised in the South and even hung my motorcycle helmet in Colorado for a few months. I've always had a touch of wanderlust and have never feared just packing up and going on new adventures, whether in real life or via the pages of a great book.

When I was a little girl, I didn't want to grow up to be a writer—I wanted to raise unicorns and be a superhero. When those gigs fell through, I chose the next best thing: creating my own magical lands filled with adventure, magic, humor, and romance.

I live in Florida with my two dogs and when I'm not writing or reading, I'm racing motorcycles with my taller, more handsome half, hanging out at the beach, or binge-watching anything magical on Netflix.

I'm eternally grateful for all the people who help make my life what is today - friends, readers, family. No woman is an island.

This is the first book by this author that I have listened or read but it won't be my last. How I missed the first three books in the series I don't know but I will be putting that to right very soon. The characters are what intrigued me and made it so entertaining. An enchanted coastal resort is the perfect location for this series, giving the author plenty of scope to introduce a wide range of quirky and colourful characters to get the imagination going. I especially liked Tempest the feisty witch's familiar, who had me chuckling. The mystery was interesting and while there wasn't a lot of suspects it certainly kept you guessing on a number of things, like who was the victim, how she was killed and even the motive. Just a fun cozy paranormal mystery to sink your teeth into, unless your a vampire of course.
Destiny is busy helping to get ready for the unveiling of the resorts latest attractions catering to both fairies and gaints, as well as her normal job of running the tiki bar without a manager. So the last thing she needs is to be told that one of the guests has been murdered and her best friends boyfriend might be the prime suspect. Can Density and friends find the real killer? Especially as the dead woman isn't who they thought and they don't even know how she died.
I liked the narrator. She put in a magical performance to bring the characters to life and make it an enjoyable listen.
I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and I have voluntarily left this review.

Bartender Destiny Maganti’s search for a new manager for the Enchanted Coast Resort’s Tiki Bar isn’t going well at all! And NOW the body of a resort guest has been found on the beach! The Expansion Committee is going to lose their minds if Destiny doesn’t get to the bottom of THIS debacle fast! “High Tide Homicide” is a delightfully charming, throughly enjoyable cozy mystery! Stuffed to the brim with delightfully entertaining characters and featuring a smooth flowing mysterious and engaging plot, my interest was held and my puzzle solving skill challenged! I loved every ingeniously original character! THIS is a group I would love to be a part of. I absolutely had a favorite though, my heart was completely stolen by a sassy Fox named Tempest! No spoilers, listen and see if you agree! I also have to say that I was INSTANTLY drawn into this intriguing plot! Easy to understand, easy to follow, and throughly entertaining! Both the characters and the scene setting were brought to life by beautiful, clear and vibrant narration making this production a five star listen across the board. I loved it!

High Tide Homicide
Enchanted Coast Magical Mystery Series, Book 4
By: Tegan Maher
Narrated by: Meghan Kelly

As Destiny is getting ready for an opening of the resort, she is told of a murder. Just what she needs! Now finding out who the victim is, the motive and list of suspects takes precedence and she is on it! From finding out the victim may not be who they think to the main suspect being her best friend's boyfriend has Destiny working hard. Will she solve the mystery before the opening? And how will it all turn out? Tegan Maher has a fantastic venue for a cast of quirky, magical characters. I love Destiny and Tempest. Tempest added to the fun, with witty banter and lots of help. Love the potions and interesting way Maher wraps all the characters, from Giants to fairies together. It's a fun, engaging mystery and I know I will be coming back to the Enchanted Coast.

Meghan Kelly has such a talent for voicing a story. The cozy mysteries in particular always have a vast array of characters, and she picks the perfect sound for each one. Interpreting each personality, giving it a voice and making it come alive is her true calling, and I enjoyed her reading of this book.

There are so many inconsistencies in these books. It really started with book 3 and has gotten worse.

1- The author has stated multiple times that only Blake can teleport from the resort and to the outside world. Yet, Destiny does it multiple times.

2 - In Surfboard Slaying, the killer was one person. Then in the next book (when the author referenced the previous story), it was another person! Now in this book when that murder is referenced, the second person is described as something else and is no longer the killer!

Then you add in the usual huge amount of typos and missing and/or wrong words used and it's hard to stay in the moment.

I really like these books, I love the characters and I find the mysteries interesting. However, I can't give a good rating to so many issues. The inconsistencies and the lack of any sort of proofreading is just too much to overlook.

The Enchanted Coast is a classy resort that caters to supernatural beings of all sorts. The most recent addition is the wing for giants and this is the first time to register for their vacation. Destiny is in charge of activities and is looking for a new manager, but the pickings have been slim. She's surrounded by paranormals who had me chuckling at their quirks and their words. Bob the Bigfoot Bartender, Tempest the Fox Familiar, Stan the cupid whose work clothes consister of a bow, quiver and loincloth and Collin her boyfriend are just some of the motley crew that make up the core of the story. There's a tongue-in-cheek murder mystery that is actually quite surprising, and it's a very well-written story with some of the most unique and interesting characters to grace the page. As always, the narration by Meghan Kelly is spot on with her dynamic voice and delivery of the characters' uniqueness and personality.

Always a pleasure to visit the Enchanted Coast.

Destiny is a Water Witch who works at the Tiki bar on the Enchanted Coast resort, catering to supernaturals you can find a wide array of characters at her bar on any given day. Like the Merpeople who just pop in, or the off duty Valkyrie, the Faeries,Angels, Gargoyles,Shifters and joining them this book Giants. There's a bit opening for the new Giants section of the resort which all the board members are attending so it's important everything goes off without a hitch. Unfortunately there's been a murder, a Witch has been killed, right on the beach so word spreads quickly. Destiny and her friends need to work quickly to work out who killed her. Contains a great cast of characters from the Sphinx who guards the entrance to the fox familiar of Destiny. A really enjoyable way to pass an hour or two.

My first read by this author and I’m coming into a series on book #4 apparently, but I didn’t feel lost.
This is a cute, fast-paced read with a great cast—will explore more from this author, based on this read.

4 stars.

*Note—
I recommend the author or publisher use a stronger editor and/or alpha or beta readers in the future, to help catch continuity issues. For example, someone taking the football from the hands of someone who already threw it isn’t really possible. A stronger team would help you catch things like this.

Audio -
The narrator sounded good, overall. She depicted an American character with a slight British accent, even as said character was explaining she was from the States. Odd choice, but no harm done, I suppose. Though I do detest poor continuity.

Fun Summerry Fun

When it is cold out a magical island sounds amazing! This series is one of my favorite. I love the premise and the characters and the mystery.
So why not 5 stars? Too short to be a novel. AND the actual book ended at 90% on the kindle. It says 100 pages, but is it? Felt like a novella. The issue was the choppy ending. Could have easily made that longer. We went from mystery to solved and done in like 2 pages. I have noticed that a lately, books are too short. That's fine but he honest and say novella. Do not fill 10% with chapters from old books from an old series.
Otherwise it was fun, well written and has magical foxes!

Amazing book !

High Tide Homicide by Tegan Maher is Book 4 in the Enchanted Coast series . I LOVE this series !

Destiny has her hands full with the new expansion at the resort catering to Giants and Fairies while trying to find a new manager for the Tiki Bar.

When a body is discovered , Destiny is on the case along with her hilarious familiar .

I was excited to see Mila make a brief appearance .

A well written mystery with fun characters I’ve grown to love !

Highly recommended!

I enjoy Ms. Maher's books and read most of her series, but it feels like the mystery part has been taking a hit lately. There is a big windup to find the culprit and then either the villian just pops up and confesses, or it all gets resolved in a scene before the climax of the tale can play out. So instead of a full cozy mystery, we get some interactions with our favorite characters, but little development. I hope that changes since she has a full list of books coming out this year, but I worry I'll be disappointed.

🎧AUDIOBOOK REVIEW 🎧

First off, this was my first book in the series. While I felt I missed out on some back story it didn't take much to catch up with what was going on.
I enjoyed this short cozy mystery. A bit cute with the paranormal resort theme and intriguing enough with the mystery to keep my attention the entire time.
I'll have to check out the other books in the series because I liked this one.
Meghan did an amazing job as always with giving each character their own uniqueness.
Would recommend to cozy mystery lovers needing a quick listen

Another wonderful book at the Enchanted Coast. The resort is ready to open the new Fairy and Giant accommadations when there is a murder at the resort. Destiny and her famaliar Tempest are busy when they try to figure out why a lady was murdered and who did it. It was a page turner and I enjoyed this book as much as the others in this series. Can't wait until the next one is available to read.

This is a solid series of its type. It checks off all the boxes for a paranormal mystery. While I don't love the characters, none of them are off-putting; they are nice enough. The setting is someplace one couldn't help to want to vacation. There's the snarky animal familiar and hot law-enforcement (sort of adjacent to, in this case) boyfriend and unusual circle of friends to help with the mystery. The story might not shine, but they are always reliable. Recommend.

Loved

I love this series, it is always fun to read about Destiny and Tempest. This wasn't a figure it out your self mystery but loved following the trail alongside Destiny and crew. Really enjoyed seeing Margo the sphinx, she had a nice scene, and of course Stephanie the Valkyrie is great fun and potential mayhem.

Violence off page (you know because "Murder mystery"), no language or sexual content.

Another magical visit to the Enchanted Coast Resort and watch/read about Destiny as she has another murder to solve and a friend to save from being arrested. A lighthearted mystery with likable paranormal characters and a few twists to keep me guessing who Destiny and Tempest must find to solve the murder. I confess that my favorite character is Margo and I wish I could see more of her each time I visit the resort.

Enchanting series

This series is creative with imaginative characters set in a magical beach resort. The books are set entirely in the magical world with lots of creatures of the imagination like fairies, bigfoot, and mermaids. The mystery plot is well thought out as well. For a fun cozy mystery it doesn't get better than this.

It Was Destiny

My favorite water witch is back, and she’s better than ever! An identity thief is found dead on the beach, but there was no evidence of foul play. How did she die and who dunit? Leave it to Destiny Maganti to solve the crime, and you’ll have a great time going along for the ride! Bob? Another rum runner, please.

The Enchanted Coast Resort has opened two new areas. One caters to faeries and the other caters to giants. The Grand Opening for these areas is going well. It can't be that easy can it? If course not, there's a murder. While trying to keep it on the low down, Destiny investigates with some help. There is great snark and laughs in this cozy. I totally enjoyed reading it. Five stars!

Each book has

Fun characters from the last book and interesting new ones. Its fun trying to figure out who the murderer is. Tegan Maher certainly has a wild imagination! I don't know where it comes from but you can expect each new book to be filled with wild, new characters. When I finish one book I immediately start another. I recommend this series.

Its not going well for Destiny who needs a new manager for the Enchanted Coast Resort’s Tiki Bar . Add to it a body of a resort guest has been found on the beach.. The list of suspects is long , all with good motives. The main suspect being her best friend's boyfriend . Will she solve the mystery before the opening?

Loved the narration of Meghan Kelly

I like it. Destiny and her boss figure out what to do about the mgr position. it is working the way it is split up so they decided to continue as is and increase both people's pay.

I like all the characters in the book. giants that gets an area dedicated to their size, this seems so outrageous. just imaging a huge pool....gotta be deep....where do they find the water to fill it?

High Tide

A very cute little a paranormal cozy" story with, of course a murder. The resort is having the grand opening for the two new additions, they still haven't found a full-time manager for the Tiki and there are 2 thieves, not just one!
