This was a good installment, I enjoyed it :)

I don't remember Seth from any of the previous books, but he is one of Rowe's bodyguards at Ward Security.

Seth meets an older man at a bar the day before Sven and Geoffry's wedding, looking for a hook up. They have a great night of sex together before Seth leaves, both of them thinking they'll never see the other again.

Turns out that isn't the case as Liam turns out to be Sven's older brother, who Seth runs into at Sven's wedding. They try to just make their one night about just sex and go their separate ways, but neither can stop thinking about the other.

And when Liam, who has opened a flower shop, gets set upon by some thugs, saying his friend and partner - who has been missing - owes their boss some money, Liam is scared and goes to Ward Security. And who should be assigned to be his bodyguard but Seth?

As the threats keep coming and the situation seems to get worse, Liam and Seth have to figure out how to save Liam, who is taking the brunt of his partners mistakes and lies. Along the way, feelings are emerging as well. Liam is a sweet, kind teddy bear of a man, and Seth is smaller, but a highly trained badass who can't help but care for Liam.

This was a good story, I enjoyed it. I do wish there could have been a stronger connection between these two. It was there, but I just wanted more and I don't think enough was given to them as a couple to make me really love this.

Still really good, still enjoyable, and I still recommend this. Can't wait for the next! :)

2★'s = it was ok.

Oh man. This one just did not work for me, at all.

Oh wait. I liked Rowe, but of course.

The rest, not so much.

Blah, blah, blah I don't want a relationship, I don't need anything, blah, blah, blah. I am so over this setup especially when it changes INSTANTLY.

That's not the worst though. The entire setup for this story did not make any sense. Who in their right mind would sell everything they own, move, and then invest all the money, $150,000 with someone "they aren't that close" to? Liam mentioned more than once that he invested everything in a new business with a guy he didn't really know that much about. The guy, which never got explained, AT ALL, obviously did not do the same thing and ended up owing a loan shark, again, for some reason that WAS NOT EXPLAINED.

It was kind of dumb.

Come or cum? I hate when both are used, especially on the same page.

Ugh. Sorry. I'm just bummed and maybe these series/spin-offs have just run their course. Maybe I'm just over it.

I liked Rowe though.

4 short-but-juicy-steamy-stars!! 😍🤩 This was a wonderful surprise from the Ward Security Family and I wish it was full length. The MCs were likable and thankfully without any heavy emotional baggage so the plot was simple; Seth and Liam have a one night hook-up thinking they wouldn't see each other ever again. But they accidentally bump into one another at a wedding (Sven and Geoffrey💞; Liam is Sven's brother, whereas Seth is his coworker/friend). Despite the strong connection and chemistry they reluctantly part ways. 💔All that changes when Liam's life and business is threatened by an unknown enemy and he decides to get help from Rowe (CEO Ward Security) and Rowe assigns Seth as his bodyguard 😉😍. Can Seth keep Liam safe and safeguard his business as well? 🤔Will they be able to keep their distance while living in such close quarters?😳 And if they do become more than client and bodyguard, once the threat is gone can they save their fledgling relationship? 💘
This was a lovely short with some cameos from the extensive Ward family. It was great seeing Sven and Geoffrey getting married 💝. Finally, this can be read as a standalone, but it would be better if you have read at least the first Ward Security book. Highly recommended! 👍👍

Ward Security strike again as Ward Dating Agency.

A scorching one night stand between Seth and Liam gets complicated the next day when they discover that Liam is Sven's big brother who Seth works with and they are also friends.

Due to a missing partner and guys looking for him Liam goes to see Rowe Ward for some help and of course Rowe gives him a bodyguard - guess who?

This is a fun quick read, full of sexy guys, hot sex, some action and sweet moments and extra time with Rowe.

A great start to the book and it gets better when they meet for the first time.
Seth, 28 yrs, was enjoying a night ahead and attending a wedding the next day. Seth worked in security but had a back up plan to work in martial arts teaching.
Meeting Liam the two hookup and make a hot connection not having the thought they see each other again.
Liam, 48 yrs, was a florist and related to the groomsmen at the wedding, opps lol
Scenes progress and Liam finds his business partner missing and loan sharks at his shop. Violent scenes happen and Liam is attacked.
This is a great story with mystery and drama for two guys to find love when they least expect it. Hot sexy scenes that have them switching in the sheets. Dramas conclude for them to find their HEA ending which I really liked. I've read a couple of books in this series and not always in order and really liked them.

3.5 rounded down. This was good but some of the tropes were annoying. I didn't mind the anonymous hook up that turns out to be the brother of a colleague. I minded that we didn't even know that Sven and Geoffrey (from book 1) were engaged and we didn't get to see their vows here even though it was their wedding. I liked the mystery plot. The "I don't want a relationship" trope grated me though. It was stupid and really the only source of angst which we really didn't need. A lot of the relationship development happens off page, we are told they spent the week talking and getting to know each other but that's it. The sexual dynamic was inconsistent at one point but then was ok. All in all it wasn't bad but wasn't great. Onto the final book.

These books are always so OTT and how many deaths can one group of friends/company cover up? I roll my eyes but I smile and keep reading anyway. I actually liked this one more than some of the previous books. In fact I'd say this one and book #4 are my favorites so far. It doesn't quite live up to the original series that it spins off of but worth reading.

I liked it. Shorter than the rest but felt like the guys held out longer before giving in to their desires. I liked how Liam was a big cuddly florist. Not sure if there’s more to come but if not a cute end to the series.

These short stories just keep getting better and better!
We finally get handsome Seth’s story! And damn, he truly is perfection...

Seth was stunning. Just mind-blowing. The kind of “get on your knees and suck him off in the middle of the bar” hot. Not that Liam would do it. But he’d thought about it. And a whole lot of other dirty, wonderful things.

A major bonus from this particular story was Geoffrey and Sven get married!

Geoffrey and Sven’s May wedding had been blessed with warm temperatures, blue skies, and a breeze. In short, a perfect evening.

As we know, all the Ward Security bodyguards seem to be falling in love. But Seth doesn’t want any part in falling in love, he has a plan and nothing will derail him from it.

There was something in the fucking water at Ward Security. It seemed like they were dropping like flies as fast as Rowe and Andrei could hire new bodyguards. And Seth had zero plans to join their ranks.

Dom shrugged, completely unbothered by Seth’s tone. “A hookup is nice, I guess. It’s even better when you can go home to that slice of awesomeness and sexiness night after night.” He grinned at Abe, and the older man smiled back.
-insert swoon, Dom and Abe <3 -

So what happens when Seth accidentally has a one-night stand with Sven’s older brother, and suddenly ends up having to protect him from a dangerous loan shark?

But now he was being protected by his sexy hookup. The one man he wanted to fuck over and over again. The one man who was walking temptation. The one man he couldn’t touch again. Shoot me now.

The tensions run high in this one, but it was so sexy and delightful! Plus, it let our guys get to know one another, and oh god, Seth’s maturity and thoughtfulness mixed with Liam’s cuteness and caring nature...

His libido was demanding that they submit to this beautiful, powerful creature. Blood rushed to his dick. It was now straining against the front of his jeans like the fucker was reaching for Liam.

He trusted every guy he worked with to protect Liam with their life, but there was no way he’d be able to rest if he couldn’t see Liam with his own eyes. He was so fucked, and it wasn’t even the good kind of fucked.

But of course, some things cannot be stopped, and when they finally come together, they are explosive! I loved their dynamic and versatility, it was sexy and sweet and dirty and all the good things wrapped into one!

Why did it all feel so easy and natural when they were together? Why was the sex so amazing? Why did they laugh so often when they were just sitting around the apartment at night? Why did they fit together like they’d been made for each other? And was Liam being cautious or a coward for not pressing harder.

We also get a lot of Rowe -although I missed Noah, a LOT- and there’s no wonder he’s one of my favorites. He’s perfect and loyal and sweet and funny. He stole my heart once again on this one.

Liam sighed. “People don’t tell you no, do they?” Rowe smirked. “People try to tell me no all the fucking time. It’s just that a lot of them end up wrapped in duct tape for their trouble.”

Of course we get a little bit of action, as expected of Jocelynn and Rinda, they always deliver action with a side of fun!

All this fucking trouble from a goddamn florist,” Weiland snarled. “Don’t you know?” Seth said with a snicker. “Don’t fuck with a florist.”

And then our ending, beautiful and sweet and everything in between! Loved this story!!!

Seth came close to throw it away, leaning over the bag to kiss Liam. “What was that for?” “Because you’re fucking cute.” “I am not cute.” “Oh, you are.”

Awwwww!

Not sure about the whole loan sharky element resolution but it worked as a vehicle for making Seth and Liam spend more time together after their epic one night stand!

Ok so I loved Seth and Liam's meeting. Sven's brother, yep I'm here for this. And of course their second meeting was all awkward and wonderful at the wedding. Neither guy thought they were there for more than one glorious night. Ultimately though fate throws them together they can't deny the chemistry between them.

I felt for Liam as his world started to crumble around him. His business partner has left Liam holding the bag on the debt he owed to a loan shark and it's put more than just Liam's livelihood in danger. Seth is determined to stand between Liam and those darker elements. The two just balanced each other well. Liam's a bit of a teddy bear and Seth's strength belies his size. The outside drama was a little over the top with a typical Ward Security solution, but I was happy with the outcome all the same.

Loved it! Only complaint is I wish there was more! I hope we’ll see more of these characters...I’m sure there are more Ward Security guys who need their HEA and will need flowers too!

It’s a short story so obviously not a lot of time for character development I still felt like I got to know these characters pretty well. The story works well though I definitely have questions (no spoilers here though!)

The ending is sweet and left me with such a lovely picture in my head. Definitely recommend!

While the world building and character development fall a little short of what one finds in the full-length Ward Security novels, both are on par with reasonable expectations for a novella. When read in order, this series has well developed plots and characters with comprehensive storylines. That said, this could definitely be read as a standalone—it just doesn’t have the same depth that comes with knowledge of the missing backstories.

Seth Dorgan is a bodyguard employed by Ward Securities assigned to protect Liam Larsen, a one-time hookup who turns out to be a co-worker’s older brother. They develop a relationship while trying to keep Liam safe. We get a peek at Sven and Geoffrey’s wedding with mention of a handful of series characters (but this is not a novel that catches readers up on relationship statuses for the entire series cast). It was nice to see Rowe make a few cameo appearances; however, his suggested solution to the Liam’s problem was disappointing and felt out of character for him.

I enjoyed seeing a character that challenged stereotyping. I like to see this in books—it gives readers a chance to become even more openminded.

I liked this until it got to the scene where Rowe suggests how to deal with the mob. Then it lost me and my interest. The relationship after that point went from fun (a bit cliche) to skip-able.
In general for such a short story we used quite a bit of time of previous couples - not that they are there, but that we get a description on how they look and that they are OH SO happy together, and I don't care about them. If I had read the other books the amount of time we use on them is not necessary, and since I haven't read them I really don't care.

I think that this book could’ve a lot of potential. So the story is about two men, Seth and Liam who hooked up one night, had a “hot” sex, and move on. Then, they meet again at a wedding ceremony and realised that they can’t get over what they had that night. Sounds interesting right? It should be. But welp, I. Was. Bored. So they had sex in the first ten page (obviously) and it was already boring, HOW?? and the sex wasn’t even that spicy. But then the author makes it worse by describing how hot the sex was. Such a turn off. . .And it just keeps going onto the next sex scene and next, and next and next. blah, blah.

Their connection? meh. Their romance? again, meh. It feels forced. I was expecting angst, squirmy and giggly tension, but no, it was bland, predictable and super boring. And the plot, uhm, it felt like I zoned out the entire time I was reading this and woah, they suddenly become a couple. (at this point I’m just hating on this book. but Idc.)

Btw, this is my face the entire time I read this book : 😐

I didn’t enjoy this one (again, obviously). 3 stars just because the epilogue saved this whole thing and I know maybe someone else would like to try this because of the trope, but this is definitely not for me :/

"I'm only looking for one night," Liam added, lifting his brows.
"Then we're on the same page." Seth slid from the booth and held out his hand. "Your place or mine?"

I love an 'out of the box' character, and a massive man with delicious shoulders owning a flower shop? Sign me up! The spice was top notch in this one - when Seth said I was like SURE AM! :P

"Hey, Seth!" Rowe shouted above the noise. "Get your ass up to my office!" Liam's breath froze in his lungs and he jumped to his feet. Are you fucking kidding me?

Try as they might, their two worlds just kept colliding. The novella length was perfect to give us just enough action, spice, and cameos from past books.

It looks like King of Romance is my next read in my "catch up on what I've missed in Ward Security" adventure, it promises to be a good one!

For some reason, the writing of the characters just made me cringe and want to throw my phone across the room because HOW DOES A GROWN ADULT ACT LIKE A CHILD?! I get it, that some people just tend to have a younger, innocent personality. Nothing wrong with it. But when you mix “an innocent personality” with “a grown man who has sexual relations”, wtf. The characters literally act like children who have no idea what the fuck their purpose is in life and decide to just fuck each other instead. The plot? A loan shark who harasses a flower shop owner who ends up needing protection had so much potential but something about the characters and the execution just pissed all over it.

Another thing, do all authors just never have siblings and just need to add it into their stories?
- “Don’t you dare talk to him like that in my house, little brother!”

I’m sure many people can agree with me, but the use of “big/older brother” “big sis” or “little brother” almost NEVER HAPPENS IN REAL LIFE. They have a name for a reason, why not use it??????

This one fun right from the start. I liked that neither Seth or Liam were shy about what they were interested in when they first met, both of them having a great night. That made for a fun moment when both saw each other at a wedding a little bit later. I loved that Liam was Sven's brother and how that made things a bit uncomfortable for both Liam and Seth, which was fun to read.

I hated what happened to Liam and how his business was threatened, but glad that he turned to Ward Security for help despite Sven being gone on his honeymoon. Rowe jumped in right away to help and of course that help came in Seth becoming a 24/7 bodyguard. I loved how tension filled things became and how much Seth and Liam fought their attraction. It didn't take long before the threat against Liam escalted and Seth and the Ward guys took care of business and Liam and Seth decided that what they had was worth having.

I really like Drake and Elliott’s work. I live close to Cincy and like that the series is set there (Montgomery Inn is the best).

I also liked the characters. Liam is a 6’ 5” nature loving florist. He is gentle and loving but isn’t afraid to defend those he loves. He is also 48 and was burned in a relationship with a younger man.

Seth is a 5’ 9” Ward Security bodyguard. Don’t let his size fool you. He is a martial arts expert and is a good man to have guarding your back. He is 28 and knows what he wants out of life.

Neither man is looking for forever. They both assumed it would be one and done. Famous last words. The attraction is hot, but the feelings they both develop are surprising are the HEA kind. They just have to deal with a loan shark, his goons, and Liam’s little brother Sven.

Seth Dorgan is a bodyguard for Ward Security. He meets a guy at a downtown bar and has a one night stand that rocks his world. The next night he's at a friend's wedding and sees the hookup from the previous night. He is the groom's brother. Liam Larsen is new to Cincinnati. He is opening a flower store in Over-the-Rhine. He enjoyed his night with Seth and wouldn't mind more but needs to focus on his new store. Three men come in an threaten him saying his business partner owes big money and he has to pay it since they can't find the partner. The wreck his store. Since his brother works for Ward Security, he goes to Rowe Ward and asks what he should do. Rowe assigns Seth as his bodyguard. Being together 24/7 is impacting their ability to keep things platonic. Of course, it doesn't work. This is a good novella with interesting characters.

Another great entry in this continuing story world. Seth appeared in Blaze: Unbreakable Bonds book 5. He has hovered around the edges of all the stories that involve Ward Security so it is fitting that he gets his own story. Pair him with Liam who is Sven's older brother and we are off to the races. In the grand scheme of things, this is quite domestic in its scope and is not as chaotic and messy as some of the other Ward Security stories. That said, it was nice to come home to Cinci again and visit with the characters who have been constant throughout the Unbreakable/Ward stories. Only one more to go now, and I think I am going to miss them.
With a shout out to the late great Kenneth Obi who narrated the majority of these books on audio, I still hear his voice and characterisations in my head when I read the ebook versions.

This was a fun series to read and I suggest reading them in order although they could be read stand-alone as each one has their own set of MC's, story and HEA. However, one MC works for Ward Security so it's nice to see the secondary characters overlap but it's never integral to that story.

Each book has 2 sexy MC's that are perfectly, imperfect for each other and an intriguing story. Very entertaining!

There is a previous series "Unbreakable Bonds" where Rowe, the owner of Ward Security, features more heavily so if you enjoyed these stories, you'll enjoy those too; however, those characters rarely show up in this series.

I will definitely be re-reading all of them, starting with the Unbreakable Bonds series then moving right into this series - I enjoyed them that much.
