My Sweet Bully

Rate this book
Bully. That's what I am to her.
It's not a name I ever expected to be called, but after what she did to me that one awful summer, I'll wear it with pride. It's the least I can do after she put my older brother behind bars.
Prairie Westmin-- her face is burned into my mind. And now I have to stare at it every day of our senior year. I want to make her miserable. I know she's my enemy.
So why am I defending her from others on campus?
I tell myself it's because she's MINE. I'm the only one who can bully her. Just me.
That logic is warping the longer I'm around her.
Fury becomes curiosity.
Anger becomes passion.
Cruelty becomes love.
One kiss and I forget that I'm supposed to hate her to my very core.
This woman is beating up my heart and ruling my world.
Am I her bully... or is she mine?

(My Sweet Bully is a full length romance with all the delicious chemistry and tension that only a pair of 18 year olds in high school can bring. Drama, angst, and all the red-hot-love you trust me to write. xoxoxo)

I received this book from the author for an honest review. I have read other books in the past by this author and enjoyed reading them. This book, not so much. I can definitely tell that Prairie is a high schooler because she acts immature most of the time. I felt like there wasn't any real character development, which is sad because the potential is there. I liked Max and he seemed like a more believable character. I did like the ending of the book, just not the rest.

Prairie Westmin has only just arrived in her new town and she has made more than one enemy, after witnessing a fire she did what she thought was the right thing and reported the boys to the police for their crime. Thinking that she would never see them again, but on her first day of her senior year at school all her hopes of a new start are dashed. She is drawn to Max no matter what he does to punish and push her away she sees something in him, he blames her for everything that he has lost. Can she show him that he is worth more than even he realises and will she keep her heart from being broken?

Max Ramon cannot believe who he saved, the girl who took his only family away from him, he went from having a brother to being alone. And as much he tries to hate Prairie she calls to something inside and the way she looks at him makes him feel things he never expected to feel especially for her. His only mission is to get out of town and basketball is his out but when his brother gets an early release he knows that no one will stop him from taking revenge. Can he save Prairie or will he be too late?

This book is filled with lots of drama and the push and pull of their relationship plus the epilogue was a perfect ending to everything. Highly recommended read 5*. I am voluntarily reviewing an advanced reader copy of this book.

Prairie never expected to see him again, the night they first laid eyes on one another was a tragic one, and since that night his eyes have haunted her. What he was doing wrong, she is sure that he knew it, but he ran and it was up to her to do the right thing. But in doing so she created an enemy, now as he sits across the room from her staring daggers through her she knows things at her new school are not going to be any better than the last.

He is the enemy, a very attractive one, one that draws her in like a moth to a flame. She wants to make amends, but he wants nothing to do with her... or does he?

My Sweet Bully unites us with a young couple who were brought together by tragedy, and that same tragedy forces them to be at odds with one another too. Prairie wishes she didn't see what she did, but expecting her to dismiss it was out of the question, she did what she thought was right, but in doing so she took everything from Max, and Max is determine to make her pay. These two were polar opposites, they came from different backgrounds, had different aspirations, but one night bonded them to one another. Watching them sort out their hate and love for one another was tough on the ticker at times, my heart broke for them, but it also soared at times too. There is nothing sweeter than young love, and these two proved that page after page, I loved every minute I spent with them! Highly recommend this one, it destined to leave your heart happy!

I requested an advanced copy of this title from the publisher, and I am voluntarily leaving my honest opinion.

OMG, someone please remind me to stop reading these books!!! Penny writes the worst FMC and then I get mad at the books and mad at myself for the time I wasted on them. I didn't finish this one, but the part I got through was awful. Basically, new girl in town accidentally witnesses a crime. She testifies against 2 brothers in court. The experience is so traumatic for her that she spends her entire summer having nightmare and not leaving the house. This incident scares her to death. Then she shows up to her first day at her new high school and one of the perpetrators defends her from the football bullies. He didn't realize it was her or he probably wouldn't have helped. She then immediately decides he's her new BFF and tries to befriend him since she doesn't know anyone (because she's been too scared to leave the house all summer) and he can't be that had since her body is so uncontrollably attracted to him now. He's mean to her again and somehow she just wants him more. If she were a real person, she would be up for the Darwin Awards in my opinion. This is where I gave up and decided she was too stupid to live, even temporarily in my mind.

Prairie, was simply minding her own business when she sees something that leaves her shaking.
His brother never shared his plans with me he'd gone with him because that's what family does but now his brother just landed them in a world of hurt.
Prairie could still she the one guy's eyes filled with pure unadulterated hate towards me.
Max, couldn't believe she was going to the same school as me after she got his brother in trouble he was alone and his brother had been locked up.
He hated her, no Max really hated her.
Okay he wished he hated her.
Max had been lucky he wasn't sitting beside his brother instead he spent his weekends picking up trash.
Like a moth to the proverbial flame she's absolutely captivating and I can't help myself.
Max, had wanted to see his older brother he was eighteen and in his final year of high school, and when he shared the fact the girl went there to his brother's words came out loud and clear.
Sitting there listening to the venom in his brother's words "its her fault" and she's their number one nemesis.
Prairie felt guilty for doing the right thing because he'd lost so much and she'd helped to take his brother from him.
Somewhere things slowly shifted he didn't feel quite like he had before none of those bad feeling meant anything not anymore.
He didn't want to stop himself not when she's were he really wanted her, nothing would ever compare to this moment.
The last thing he'd expected was his brother being released early.
Nothing was going right and Max, knew deep down the only thing left was the hardest thing he'd ever do.
Prairie, had hoped but he didn't show he'd let her down so she just left.
However Max wasn't getting away with letting her down.
All of sudden there's lights and sirens and the sound was getting louder she needed to find Max.

Two brothers who had a tough time growing up. A mom passes, a datad becomes drunk, and a older brother did whatever he could to get what him and his little brother, Max needed to survive. Yet, by then the pattern and the thrill for Harlow was stronger than doing what he knew was best for Max.

This story revolves around Max and how he wants to be loyalty to his brother for the crime he is serving time for in prison. The thing that stands out to me is they both want to blame Prairie for tell what she saw as a bystander. The thing is when Prairie’s family moves to the town Max lives in to be near family she ends up at his school.

When she gets bullied the morning of day one Max is the one who comes up behind her to defend her. Once their alone finds out it’s her his demeanor changes. He almost growls for her too keep away from him he hates her. He just underestimates just how truly sweet, kind, caring, openly honest and sorry that her telling the truth ruined his life.

She also reveals to him she also knows he’s a good hearted person who acts like a bad boy to keep people away. To which he growls you don’t know the real me.

The only thing I can say that bothers me is no reaction or input from those around him like when James hurts Prairie in the gym. Or him doing something kind to help after it happens. No reaction. Also, the timeline is off for Harlow’s sentence and when they talk later. Then, first day of school, you have her wearing three different pairs of shoes that don’t match the scenes.

I loved these characters they were endearing to me. It was real and scary but so true to conditions within some families. This is for over 18+. Fast short.

Prairie Westmin is new to town over the summer she sees something a fire two boys one with dark eyes and know soul full of venom. The other close to her age scared but tough trying to keep it together. Prairie has to tell the police what she sees one goes to jail the other gets probation she doesn't think she will see either boy again until the first day of school the boy who says he hates her tells her to stay away the bad boy with and alcoholic father and a twisted brother now doing time because of her saves her from a bully but when Max Ramon sees who he just rescued it just makes him mad he hates her for taking away the only family he had that was there for him Harlow.

Max tells Prairie to stay away but there pull to each other can't be denied no matter how much he threatens and bullys her she won't give up she sees something else someone worth saving if only he saw it to. Max doesn't realize how much his brother manipulates him all he wants is out basketball is his ticket but when his brother Harlow gets out early he sees his brotheris not sane he's scared for Prairie Harlow wants revenge. Harlow never takes responsibility for his misdeeds and he will distroy anyone that gets in the way of his revenge even his own brother.

Prairie is Max savior she leads him out of the dark when his brother only wants to keep him there. Lots of drama two very different boys. I liked the epilogue and finding out how everyone ended up.

I was expecting an Alexa Riley, Jessa Kane kind of smut romance with a dash of bully angst thrown in. Jessa Kane's Breaking the Bully is my favourite and I have gone back to reading it again and again. But boy was I disappointed on this one.

Where was the bullying tho?!! There are just endless monologues during the first few chapters by the H on how he WANTS to do this and that and destroy the h. But the next instant they're sweet and friendly and having a ride together. What? In fact there's another guy who's doing the ACTUAL bullying. And our H is like a dark knight saviour who saves the damsel in distress then turns around and says her "dont trust me, I m your enemy". I was rolling my eyes on this pretentiousness so hard I thought I would lose an eyeball.

And the h is just instantly attracted to this guy she testified against because he is all muscular and strong. And there's endless monologues about her stomach clenching and heart fluttering. Again, What?

What a boring ass crap this book was. No angst. No actual bullying. No actual tension. Smut was meh. Chemistry was forced. Anothet annoying part is both are highschoolers but none of them are virgins. I get it that being a virgin is not a dignity, but you know virginity makes it extra special. There was nothing special about their sex. The whole casualness of it made it boring as hell. No passion, no anticipation, no awkwardness.. they're both experienced so they just pulled their pants do it. It was more like a college student sex than highschool sex.
It was a disappointment.

So this is the second bully themed book from Penny, and I'm totally torn because I liked the premise, just didn't end up liking the book as a whole. This is purely based on plot points, not on her ability as an author (anyone who has read her before knows she's great!). For the first half, through the set up and everything, I was on board, but then halfway through--BAM--we have their first "love" scene after barely more than a kiss between them thus far. It was more like a quickie between two 30-year-olds, and I actually closed the book for 24 hours when it was clear Prairie wasn't a virgin either. I'm sorry, I know that's totally no big deal for most readers, but I have a hard time with high school romances where the heroine is barely 18 and has already been around the block. Not to mention all the subtle background information through the first half was really indicative of her not having been with anyone that made her feel that way before. Okay, moving on, rant over.
I also had a hard time with Max's brother. I know bully romances are by nature a bit darker, but I truly couldn't stand him and practically skimmed each scene he was in; just creepy and I knew he was going to cause more problems.
On the whole, if you like Penny's writing and don't have a problem with the above, you'll probably enjoy this. It of course has an HEA.

The moment he saw her, he knew she would change his life, he just didn't think she would blast it to smithereens.

All she did was tell the truth, thinking no more of it. But now what remains of her actions is stood before her, and oh boy he doesnt look happy!

I was expecting many an explosion with this book, heads butting, tears of the innocent that kind of thing. But it was very lacking in that department.

I'm very confused with regards to Max as well. One minute hes got an infernal war raging inside of him with so much anger he could erupt a volcano the next minute a switch is flicked and it's all just gone poof.. forgiven and forgotten to a degree.

Prairie is your typical teenager. The girl who loves a misunderstood bad boy. She thinks she can fix him, see what others can't and make him shiny and new.

I struggled with this and their relationship if you can call it that. I didnt believe the words they declared to each other, and was left feeling quite empty.

I wouldn't call this a bully romance there was no bullying, bar a couple of minor events, but at the same time I dont feel its enemies to lovers either. I'm not sure what genre it fits into, and I'm ok with that.

I walk away and the story and characters are forgotten unfortunately.

Thank you Candi Kane PR for sending me an ARC of my sweet bully by penny wydler in exchange for an honest review. This book was many things. It was extremely insta lovey, cringey and just a far far stretch. Our main character prairie (the only thing i like about her is her name) is very annoying. She is the type of girl to ditch her friends for a guy and i just can’t do it. She is also super creepy, this wasn’t marketed as a stalker romance and i don’t know why. Prairie just does to much. She is also the the girl who wants to save the guy and change him and im like girl just pleaseeee stop. Max oh max i actually lowkey liked him. He wasn’t a bully at all so if you are worried about that don’t be. I find it extremely annoying how he didn’t keep up the pretense of hating prairie a little bit longer than chapter two. I think penny needs to find a time line and stick with it because this was messy. There was no sense of time. The only thing i enjoyed out of this book was the lesson that just because you are family does not mean that your family member will have your beat interest at heart. If a family member is toxic drop them. The steamy scenes we alright as well

Prairie, our heroine, witnesses something that she shouldn't have and it changes her life forever. When she happens upon the event, she sees Max Ramon. Max's life is also changed forever from that same night. When they meet again, Max is quite bitter and set on revenge against Prairie. The only problem is that he's also tremendously attracted to Prairie. Not to be deterred, Prairie is the new girl and she's determined to find the "real" Max that she suspects is masking the truth about who he really happens to be. While many people believe the worst about Max and his family, Prairie believes Max isn't the guy everyone believes him to be. So goes the story of Prairie and Max. They have to overcome his bitterness, his family dynamics, and other things.

I really enjoyed this story because while Max could be a bully...he was also so much more! Read the book and find out for yourself!! I enjoyed it!!

Second chance for a young man! This is a sweet and in a way sad story. You have teens one who looks up to another after their family lost the a treasure of a mother. This is of Max and Prairie. I’m glad the story didn’t involve her parents too much as I thought it would have killed it with unnecessary drama. Also note, Amy is Prairie’s instant BFF and she is too much – love her! The sweet bully in this is Max who after his brother Harlow went to pay back a man for taking his girl and pride, they both end up in trouble as Prairie was a witness. Max was a bystander, so he only received community service, but his brother received jail time. Max thought hating Prairie would be enough, but once meeting her, all he could do was fall in love. Harlow decide he wants revenge, but Max decides to keep Prairie safe by staying away from her. It is loving how a young girl can see the hurt and truth behind someone and how a young man must decide not to be like the only men in his life.

I absolutely loved this book. It shows how someone can stand by their beliefs and conviction and make a difference in someone's life. Prairie is a young girl who the summer before her senior year witnesses a crime and two young men trying to run from it. One of the boys, Max turns out to be a student at the school she now goes to. Max feels Prairie is to blame for his brother going to prison and he feels loyal to his brother and views Prairie as his enemy he can't help but be drawn to her. Deep down he knows she is not a bad person because she is the reason his brother is in prison and he is doing community service. The attraction between them is strong and Max will do what he can to protect Prairie. She believes in him and knows he is not a bad person. Others try to convince her he is bad but she sticks to her guns and lets him know she is on his side and sees exactly he he really is. I loved the flow of this story and how everything worked out for them. Great HEA.

Prairie Westmin, in the wrong place at the wrong time, witnesses a crime and sees two young men trying to run away from it. Max blames Prairie for the fact that his older brother was sent to prison. Because of his loyalty to his brother, Prairie has become his enemy. But she seems to believe in him, recognizing he is a good person, seeing him for who he truly is, and her solid belief in him begins to change things. He is drawn to her, protective of her, and confused. Will he figure it out? Will he realize she was truly not to blame for the mistakes that put his brother in jail? And that he matters to her?

This was a good story with a lesson to be learned. The characters were well portrayed and actually likable. Grab your copy and see what the two of them learn from their situation and what positive thing will come out of their experience.

After witnessing what she saw Prairie knew that she couldn’t live with herself if she walked away so she ensured that the guilty parties were held accountable and now she finds herself paying the price.

Max was one of the guilty parties however due to his age the punishment he received was much less that of his brother. Now that they are going to the same school, he is determined to make her time there as difficult as possible.

What he hadn’t been expecting was to develop feelings for her and now he finds himself torn between his loyalty to his brother and his love for Prairie and not choosing sides may no longer be an option.

There is a lot more to Max than his bad boy image and Prairie is the one person who truly sees the person he is which only makes their connection that much more special. I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.

Sweet easy read

I liked this story it’s an easy read. The thing that was really really off putting is that there’s never ever any clear timeline.. they start school so it’s September then BAM they’re talking about PROM?? Huh??? Uhh I’d think Homecoming would be the sensible dance that would be taking place IF the timeline were more clear. It’s very bizarre to read a book and not have any clue what day month year it is taking place in. When toward the end of the book her friend mentions it’s been 4 months so according to my calculations that’s December and STILL we have no idea what the weathers like there’s never any mention of the weather it just really bugged me like A LOT!!
Like I said though it’s an easy insta love sexy sweet read it kept me entertained for a few hours. I liked Prairie she was well written down to earth realistic young women.

My Sweet Bully centers on Prairie, a quiet girl who’s constantly targeted at school, and Max, the boy who leads most of that cruelty. Prairie’s life is shaped by fear and isolation, and Max is at the center of it, using his power and popularity to make her feel small. The book doesn’t gloss over how painful the bullying is, and you really feel how much it affects Prairie emotionally.

As the story goes on, the dynamic between Prairie and Max begins to change. Max starts showing moments of guilt and protectiveness, and the relationship slowly shifts from pure hostility into something more complicated. Prairie grows stronger over time, learning to stand up for herself while still dealing with the damage Max caused. Their relationship is messy, emotional, and not always comfortable to read, but that’s what makes it feel real. I just wish it was longer

I've been addicted to bully romance the past year, and the majority of them are darker in nature, but this one wasn't quite there for me. Prairie came off a bit more immature than I like (even as a teenager), and she's convinced she can fix bad boy Max. He despises her for something that really wasn't all her fault, as she saw something that she shouldn't have, and now that she's going to his High School, he's not at all happy. He tries to bully her here & there, but it just doesn't hit the mark, and the way he went back & forth between love & hate gave me whiplash. I don't want to get into too many more details since this is only my opinion, so hit those one click buttons so you can decide for yourselves! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

I loved this book. Prairie and Max were great together. Max and Prairie met in an unconventional way but they both felt a pull towards the other. Months after their first meeting, Prairie and Max find out that they both go to the same school. Max blames Prairie for what has happened in his and his brother's lives and decides to bully Prairie except Prairie won't let him as she sees Max for who he really is; not who Max wants people to see. I fell in love with these two and even though they fought their own feelings. I can't wait to see what Ms. Penny does next! I highly recommend this book!

This was a good romance and I did enjoy it. It was quite a straight forward enemy to lover romance but I wouldn't class it as bully romance as the main hero Max doesn't really bully the heroine Prairie. I normally like more twists and turns and a more in depth plot, however that said it was enjoyable. I did think that the characters fell in love too quickly and would have liked more story with other characters like Amy or the actual bully James, just to make the story a bit more interesting. That said i would read more from this author.

I felt my age reading this book. I just kept thinking, “these kids are in high school?” Their actions and their exposure to sexual situations seemed too advanced to be a high school story for me. I just kept visualizing college students finding their way. That being said, I loved the characters and story. Max’s struggle between family loyalty and choosing a different life was authentic and moving. Prairie’s unfailing support and stubborn belief in Max and his potential was heart warming. I’ve read several of Penny’s books and will continue to click on her new releases! Her stories have heart, angst and HEAT! Can’t wait for the next book Penny!

Oh my goodness, Prairie and Max took me through the wringer! Their connection is so complicated and mired in so much negativity from the outside world. Max has put up so many walls due to his home life. So when Prairie just keeps knocking them down, he doesn't know how to deal with it. He is so conflicted - trying to choose between his family, his blood and this young woman who believes in him. I honestly wasn't expecting this book to be as emotional as it was, and it was really refreshing to get that from Penny. I really enjoyed this story as Prairie and Max are perfect for one another. I highly recommend this read!

I really liked this book. Penny is writing books in a different way then before and I am enjoying them. Max is a misunderstood 18 yr old who gets into trouble, and because of his family others think he is no good. Prairie is a new girl, who from the first second saw something else in him. You do start to wonder about her though, as she cannot seem to leave her bully alone, but Max has his own bully to deal with. I love that this story had the perfect mix of passion and story.
I received this as an ARC for an honest review. I had this done yesterday, but for some reason my kindle app and good reads do not like each other and it only posted to Amazon.

This book was hot and full of emotion, I know Max didn't always treat Prairie like he should but reading him come to terms with how much he actually needed her, how he worked to be a better man for her gave me all the feels. Max realises that family doesn't always have his back, family is what you make for yourself sometimes and Max and Prairie find a family with each other. They dont have it easy, both have to be brave and fight for the chance to be together and true to themselves. Read in one sitting would highly recommend.co

This is Prairie and Max’s story. When Prairie is a witness to an event Max ends up with community service as he was a bystander, and his brother sent to jail, and Max is determined to dish out revenge and bully her in return, which leaves Prairie feeling guilty for doing the right thing. No spoilers: this is a definite must read, you will not be disappointed. This is a well written tale which is filled with angst, drama, revenge, heartbreak, and emotions. I look forward to reading more from this author and I recommend for all.

This book was a great read! I haven’t read a Penny Wylder book in a while but I definitely remember why I loved them so much! She gets you hooked right from the start! This is a bit of an angst filled book but it doesn’t make want to pull your wait out. It has a great flow to it. Prairie is a good girl through and through and she falls for the bad boy. But she knows this bad boy isn’t truly bad. Overall this is a sweet, action packed love story that I loved to read!

Prairie saw some boys setting a fire and she called the police. Max was younger than his brother so he got a lighter punishment. He blames Prairie for his loss of everything and is determined to make her pay. They end up going to the same high school. Max is gorgeous, popular and loves to punish Prairie. Prairie is a bit immature and not as likeable but she does stand up to Max. The two end up in an attraction they can't deny.

Bully love

I enjoyed this book but I also wish there was more. Maybe more details and background of the characters.
You have Prairie, a teen who witnesses a crime made by Max’s brother, which ultimately puts him in jail. She ends up going to a the same school where Max goes. He has so much hate for her. Blames her for putting his brother away. She believes he’s better than what he and everyone in town thinks of him. You guess he’s the way he is because of what happened as a kid and you know why he’s always got his brothers back but it feels like there should be more.
