After her abusive marriage fails and an affair rattles Gavin's and Jocelyn's faith, a baby changes everything.
Gavin Riley has been a detective with the Hazel Hill PD for two years, and while he and his partner, Becca Palmer, have by no means closed every case, too many unsolved cases in a row has left Gavin doubting his ability to do his job. Are his personal mistakes distracting him from doing his job well? He can't let them, especially when a sniper decides to terrorize the city of Hazel Hill. Gavin must tap into his training as a former Army sniper to help find the killer before he finds his way into the sniper's cross hairs.
Forensic photographer, Jocelyn North, knew she shouldn't have gotten as close to Gavin as she did, but he had always been such a good friend to her, so it was too late by the time she realized it had gone too far. Now she was pregnant with his baby. She needs to tell him, but she also needs to tell Patrick, her husband. How will either of them react? Will God punish her and Gavin for their mistakes or do they have a shot at redemption?
A Shot at Redemption is a unique romance that shows how we must face the consequences of our sin and how God can redeem even our most foolish mistakes.
I have read all the books in this series and I really enjoyed them. Kudos to the author for some really good plots and creative twists.
The bad guy in this one was one I enjoyed disliking, if that makes sense. I appreciated the theme of redemption that ran through this story, and am glad to see updates on the life of Hazel Hill’s detective squad.
Again, typos and grammatical issues made this book a 3-star read rather than the 4-star it would have earned from me.
I have really enjoyed reading this series. I am so impressed with the way the author handles some really intense topics and storylines that many Christians don’t like to talk about. She builds interesting plots and the characters in the series are so well developed. My favorite part is how beautifully the author ties in the truth of the gospel in these stories and what a difference that makes when characters deal with hard things. When I saw what this book was going to be about, I wasn’t sure I was gonna like the story because it’s hard to come back from this kind of topic and have it fit with the characters development but it ended up being my favorite book of the series. So thankful for the truth of God’s grace and mercy.
The best book of all the Hazel Hill Detectives series
In my opinion, this book, “A Shot at Redemption”, is one of, if not the best, in the Detectives of Hazel Hill series. All the previous characters are in this story and the transition Jocelyn and Gavin go through in their relationship with each other and with God is realistic and absolutely joyful to read as their faith grows and is tested. This book is definitely thrilling as these two main characters battle their own emotions and the evil they face - twists and turns throughout! Enjoy!
This is truly a story of not only the power of unrepentant sin and the heartbreak and destruction it can bring but of the power of Christ's redemption when we turn in repentance and surrender to Him. His power in our lives is so much greater than our sins and Ms Bradley tells it so well while conveying the Gospel message in a loving and sincere way that anyone can understand. I can hardly wait for the next book in this series and any other books she writes.
A shot at Redemption spoke to me so much as a devoiced person about God's Grace. It was heart wrenching going through Gavin and Jocelyn's struggles with accepting God's forgiveness for their sins. Even through all the problems they faced they still leaned on God for their support. It is ashamed that people like Patrick exist in this world. I lookward to next book. I would recommed this book to everyone and especially one looking for forgiveness.
I liked the book but there were some parts that I didn't. I didn't the fact that everyone had a damn opinion on something that didn't concern them at all. The affair was between Gavin and Jocelyn not the whole group. I understand the part about God and all, but still. What they did was wrong yes, but it was one of those situations that had unique circunstances and it wasn't as bad as it appeared, Patrick screwed up so much more
This is a very good who done it with many working detectives to solve many crimes . An abusive husband so evil and vile to his wife. Her friends doing their best to protect her . Detectives finally able to bringing a killer in.He can't be stopped even in jail. A marriage and soon a baby. The parents are kidnapped and taken to be killed. You will enjoy the outcome. Ugh
What an awesome story about forgiveness and God's grace. Amidst of all our troubles and sin and consequences of sin to find your way back to God. This is a faithfilled book filled with suspense and romance. I would deffinitely recommend this book and writer!! Liz Bradford has the ability to draw your emotions into her story. Loved it!
Every time I thought I could catch my breath the truly evil character made things a little worse. The author reminds us that all are sinners before our righteous God but, so hard to grasp, we are all loved by our kind and gracious God. There's a way to get through our past. Great characters and suspenseful stories. Couldn't be better!
truly love Liz Bradford's books. They are full of Christian love, faith in God, bible verses, and suspense that keeps you on the edge of your seat. I can barely put them down. If you love faith filled novels, full of God's love and how much He cares for us, coupled with a good suspense story, you have found them right here!
Well! This story kept me up through the night! I needed to know what happened to the couple and the baby. There was a little niggle that slowed down the enjoyment slightly and that was the change of tenses in a sentence every now and then. I still enjoyed reading this book though.
A truly frightening look at the evil that runs rampant in this world where Satan now roams. But more importantly, is the beautiful picture presented of God's redemption and protection over each one of us when we turn our lives over to Him!
I love a wonderful Christian fiction that includes Biblical truths and Scripture. A child conceived during an affair while an angry abusive husband seeks revenge by blackmailing many to do his dirty work will keep you involved.
They just keep getting better and better! The constant reminder that Jesus died for our sin, no matter how ugly , guilty, shameful, un-loved we feel He is with us! So sad to see this series end. My spirits were lifted, the scriptures brought hope and peace.
I wonder how many have been reached for Christ through your writing! My prayer is that those who believe they are Christian but have never submitted to the Lordship of Jesus Christ can find truth for their lives in your books! Thank you.
Hard to put down. I enjoyed the way God was a central part of this book. The whole story was about failure and repentance and forgiveness. Need a reminder? Excellent reading experience. Thank you Liz!
I’ve enjoyed all of these books. The one problem I have is the incorrect English, missing words or too many words. I’m beginning to wonder if this is a problem with all Kindle books. I’ve noticed it in other books, too.
It was very suspenseful and well written but it was confusing that some character had died in between books. Whenever that plot line came up it felt disconnected and I was confused. Otherwise really great message and exciting plot.
I am in love with the hazel hill detectives!! These are wonderful books and I read them whenever I get a chance sometimes 5 in the morning. Liz Bradford is a great author and I appreciate how these wonderful people count on God!!! Thanks Liz
This was filled with emotional baggage, wrong choices, fear, an unplanned pregnancy, faith and forgiveness. Bradford lays it all out there -- and shares His forgiveness and love in a truly almost-perfect way!!!
I absolutely love how the gospel is presented! God died for all of us! This story offers hope to all! Remember all we have to do is be still, the Lord will fight for us.
I enjoyed all of this series! They were unique with clear reminders of how loving, forgiving and faithful God is as well as that Jesus is the way to forgiveness and restoration.
