As a USA Today bestselling romance author, Delta James aims to captivate readers with stories about complex heroines and the dominant alpha males who adore them. For Delta, romance is more than just a love story; it’s a journey with challenges and thrills along the way.
After creating a second chapter for herself that was dramatically different than the first, Delta now resides in Florida where she relaxes on warm summer evenings with her loveable pack of basset hounds as they watch the birds, squirrels, and lizards. When not crafting fast-paced tales, she enjoys horseback riding, hiking, and white-water rafting.
Her readers mean the world to her, and Delta tries to interact personally with as many messages as she can. If you’d like to chat or discuss books, you can find Delta on Instagram, Facebook, and in her private reader group https://www.facebook.com/groups/34898....
The story is about Gianna ‘Gia’ DeMedici and Aiden Byrne who will meet by chance when Aiden comes to see about using stallions of Marco’s to mate with his mares. Gia disobeyed Marco and was supposed to be in her room awaiting punishment, not riding one of his stallions. From the moment Gia and Aiden met, fate had taken place.
Gia thinks she is in control, traveling to Galway for an artist festival, and meets at Aidan’s home, not aware she has more than met her match—her fated mate and Alpha. She pushes until she is punished and acquiesces to his control.
Gia: I want to go home. Aiden: You are home, my beautiful mate.
Aiden: Your home is with me. The only thing you need to do is settle down and behave yourself. You are my mate, will be the mother to our children and mistress to our pack. Gia: I won’t. Aiden: You will. Settle yourself. Gia: Why is it that you alphas think you get to make all the decisions and all the rules? Aiden: Because we do. We know what is best for our she-wolves. Be a good girl and try to rest.
I love the give-and-take between Gia and Aiden. While she tries to resist the pull between them, she knows as well as he does, that they are fated mates. In the end, they both win, because they are with each other.
Reading the description of this book intrigued me, and overall it was well written. However, if it bothers you that the females are completely under the thumbs of first their male family members, the head of their “packs” and finally their mates to the extent that corporal punishment is freely used then I suggest staying away from this book.
Even though it was set in modern times females are treated from as though from the dark ages. I have read discipline books before but this was beyond expectations and even in the sensual moments freedom was taken away.
I wish I could say I liked this book and hate giving a less then good review but it hit me so wrong I had a struggle to finish. A little lighter on the complete submission of the females would have made this a really good read.
Delta James never fails to come through with a great shifter tale and I dearly loved this one. With headstrong females and even stronger Alpha males who have no qualms about setting them in their place, even if it is over a knee or in a corner. Fabulous job, as usual, Ms James! Bravo!
