Lewis Carroll’s Alice in Wonderland comes to life again in this dramatized version of the timeless classic, with stellar performances by Georgia Lee Schultz as Alice, and multi-award-winning Barbara Rosenblat as the Mouse, Duchess, Cheshire Cat, and the Queen. This version features a full cast of characters, music, and sound effects and introduces the original song “My Garden Back Home.”
Join Alice on her strange and wonderful adventures into the world of the Queen of Hearts, the Cheshire Cat, the White Rabbit, and the Hatter.
The Reverend Charles Lutwidge Dodgson, better known by the pen name Lewis Carroll, was an English author, mathematician, logician, Anglican clergyman and photographer.
His most famous writings are Alice's Adventures in Wonderland and its sequel Through the Looking-Glass as well as the poems "The Hunting of the Snark" and "Jabberwocky", all considered to be within the genre of literary nonsense.
Oxford scholar, Church of England Deacon, University Lecturer in Mathematics and Logic, academic author of learned theses, gifted pioneer of portrait photography, colourful writer of imaginative genius and yet a shy and pedantic man, Lewis Carroll stands pre-eminent in the pantheon of inventive literary geniuses.
Alice in wonderland is very peculiar but such a classic and I get that.
It’s problematic and it feels like Alice may have some kind of diagnosis? Because it’s written and told a lot like Winnie the Pooh. But it was a nice audiobook for organizing my closet today and running a few errands! (I think I may be in a phase of reading old books I read when I was super young)
Enjoyed this version of the well loved short story. I’m enjoying how others are taking our classic tales and putting a flair and pizzaz on them. A nice escape and a visit with old friends - a Queen of Hearts, a Cheshire Cat, a White Rabbit, and a Mad Hatter. Nicely done✔️.
Performed by a full cast, this was a fun listen. The character voices were amazing and the sound effects added so much to the performance. Runs a little under an hour so not a long listen but fun to get lost in Wonderland with Alice again. Just as in the Disney movie, my favorite character voices are during the tea party with the Mad Hatter. Especially impressive listening with ear buds. Giving a listen to the full work is now on my to do list. Anyone that's a fan of the book will have fun with thus dramatization.
First, I never realized Alice had a sister (not a very important detail, but still, I was surprised). Second, I didn't remember Alice being a brat. Perhaps I'm over indexing on the delivery of the audiobook actors, but dang this version really made me dislike Alice. I'll need to read the book for myself and watch the movies again.
This audiobook was really short (less than an hour), and for that I'm glad because it made it easier to listen to while I worked. The narrators did a great job, and I kind of hope there is an audiobook version for Through the Looking-glass with the same speakers 😊.
