On top of Primrose Hill, Lizzie Williams makes a wish…and doesn’t realise someone is listening.

Lizzie and Charles have been married for years. Childhood sweethearts and best friends, they know each other better than they know themselves. However, as they enter their thirties trying for a family begins to consume their life and cracks begin to show as Lizzie comes face to face with a problem she can’t fix. In a desperate moment, she wishes she could take it all back…

And then she wakes up at nineteen again
Instead of marrying Charles, Lizzie leaves him.
Instead of 'Williams' after her name, Lizzie stays a 'Cartwright'.

But some things can't be hidden forever. Thirteen years later, fate intervenes and suddenly Charles is back in Lizzie's life again, confused and intrigued as to why the girl he loved so many years ago seems to be avoiding him at all costs. As the pair get closer and closer, Charles begins to remember things he can't explain whilst Lizzie struggles to keep the only person she has ever loved at arm's-length.

Lizzie has spent her entire new life keeping secrets and thinking she did the right thing but secrets leave scars and maybe this time, she didn't solve a problem, she simply created more of them.

I would read this book again and again. Heartbreaking yet also beautiful; this book takes you on an emotional journey you won’t forget. The author has created real, relatable characters - you may not always agree with them but you will love them! Forget Me Not is a story of second chances and of the power of even just one decision. Thought - provoking and engaging, this is a book I just could not put down!

The thing is, I really don’t know if this deserves 5 stars or not. It had some unnecessary scenes, loose ends and a but rushed ending. But I fucking loved it. And I say it deserves 5 stars.

Have you ever had a book on your TBR for ages, that you keep saying "yes, I will read that soon. Not today,  not tomorrow, maybe next month" and when you FINALLY read it, you want to bang your head against a wall because YOU CANT BELIEVE YOU TOOK SO LONG TO READ SUCH A BEAUTIFUL BOOK?

*me banging my head against a wall*

😭😭😭😭😭😭 This.Book.

Also ⚠️trigger warning ⚠️ infertility and stillbirth heavily features so if you are sensitive to that, please don't read this book until you feel stronger!

This is my guilty pleasure. A book where there is so much romance and chemistry but you just want to GRAB THEM BOTH AND FORCE THEM TOGETHER!!!!!

In a nutshell, Lizzie and Charles are childhood sweethearts. Something traumatic happens and somehow Lizzie jumps into a different timeline of her life, this time without marrying Charles. It's a classic trope but it's done so well!!!!!

I have quite a few issues with Lizzie, though. She makes big mistakes... and her brother Matt?? Well he woke up and chose violence. Charles i LOVE but i wish he had more flaws!

Can i just say, that this was written BEAUTIFULLY. It sucks you right in, i cried, laughed, shouted, gasped and melted 😉 that can only happen when an author has that magic power with words.

Go and read this!

Not sure I really got the ending but

This is a book about what if. It's definitely different and more like It's a Wonderful Life but the ending for this one threw me off. Just a strange concept. She loses her baby, they are !married for 10 years and they get into an argument about her infertility and she wishes she would have made a different decision at 17 when she married him. So book back in time when they live a different life. She still loses the baby, he becomes a superstar Actor and She is in production. He hasn't had a real relationship since the broke up and neither did she. It sounds like he was celibate but it doesn't spell it out like hers was. So in this new life, They still end up in love with one another but the ending was different and I am not sure I liked it. But this was an interesting premise and I did enjoy it. It might be closer to four stars sunlight change it. I just wanted an alternate ending.

This took the misunderstanding trope to a whole new level. Like... was it so hard to talk to your husband, Lizzie? Damn.

I had started writing this long ass review explaining, amongst other things, how some characters were absolutely toxic and infuriating (shoutout to Tyrone who remained that way from the beginning to the end).

Unfortunately, the more I read the more I realized that as bad as some characters’ behaviors were (Neil, near to bullying, harassing and gaslighting his so-called FRIEND; Matt and his anger and violence issues that cannot be justified by the sole excuse of protectiveness…) they actually stemmed from the FMC’s actions only.

So, I just have no idea where that leaves me. Neil acted shitty and suddenly starts acting ACTUALLY friendly 20% before the end. Matt was an ass too— but he was lied to, even if that doesn’t excuse his behavior. Lizzie, in the end, might have been the one who acted the worst way, even if her reasons might have been understandable, I find myself unable to just accept all that she did.

The concept had potential. But the execution lacked sense at times and because of some characters’ attitudes mentioned above, as well as some plot points, I’m just confused and unsure how I feel about all this.
The end didn’t feel really satisfying either.

2.5 stars— rounded up for GR.

Proceed with caution. This is a very adorable premise that just doesn’t live up to its potential.

This was heartbreaking. Downright devastating. And I would do it all again if I had the choice.

Warning: do not pick this up as a casual read. It won’t work. In fact, I read most of this in one 4 1/2 hour sitting in the middle of the night. As I write this, it’s 5:30 in the morning and I desperately need to go to sleep, but first I gotta get my jumbled thoughts about this book down.

I don’t normally read time travel books, or magical realism (if that’s what this is?? I’m terrible with genres). Either I go full on fantasy, or stay in reality, yknow? But this… although the premise sounds interesting, it probably wouldn’t have gotten me hooked. However, I saw this recommended to me all over #booktok and I’ll admit, it’s the only reason I picked it up. And dear god am I glad I did.

I’m not gonna lie, this book hurt. I cried a lot, and I’m so in awe of how Morgan managed to make me feel that agony on the page so keenly. But at the end of the day… the book also made my heart sing because it’s about true love, the kind where you just know the other piece of your soul, even if you don’t actually *know* them. The “I never stopped loving you” kind of love. The “I’ll never stop loving you” kind of love.

The only thing I would have liked to be different would have been to be able to dwell in the happy ending a little more - these characters were in pain for so much of the book that it would have been nice to see them truly happy for longer than a chapter or two. But hey, maybe we’ll see more about that in the background of the next book?

Also, after reading so much first person lately it was odd to get into third person again but it was very well written. Loved the occasional POV switch, and Charles is absolute husband goals. Jesus Christ. I adore him. And Lizzie? Selfless, stupid, self-sabotaging, traumatized, loving, flawed, headstrong Lizzie…. I wanted to throttle her at times, but I also loved her. The side character roster was chefskiss too. All in all I can just say: read this book and let it wreck you.

If I could give 100 stars it still wouldn’t be enough.

I fell in love with the characters on the first page! Charles and Lizzie are such well developed characters you feel like you’ve known them a lifetime. I loved how the supporting characters stand out form the crowd too making me want to know more about them!

The book is well written and well thought out. I loved the magic in the story line, the element of true love and the deeper message within. It was refreshing to see fertility issues addressed honestly and with respect

I would recommend this beautiful story to anyone and everyone!

Great potential, badly executed in both character and plot aspects. Lizzie was a very difficult character for me to read from her POV. I found her truly infuriating most of the time. The other characters except for Charles were also not great, Charles was the only one who remotely was okay.

It didn’t give what needed to be given.

Melissa Morgan kindly gifted a copy of Forget Me Not to me to celebrate her one month publication anniversary and after a long fantasy binge (if you haven't read my reviews of The Mortal Instruments series go check them out!), I finally delved into some contemporary romance this week with Morgan's writing debut. Forget Me Not is a tale of grief, of regrets and of two people destined to be together in a story that explored every realm of my emotions.

Charles and Lizzie are childhood sweethearts. They married in their early twenties and have been together ever since. Except their marriage isn't as plain sailing as it outwardly appears. The couple have been trying for a baby for a few years now, trying to move on from the tragedy that struck them twelve years ago, to no avail. When Lizzie makes a wish, she is transported back to nineteen years old and makes a decision that will change Charles and Lizzie's paths forever. Will they live separate existences, or will fate show them the true path they should be on?

After reading so much fantasy recently, I was in desperate need of returning to my favourite genre, the contemporary romance, and Morgan provided the perfect book for me! I'll begin by saying what an innovative novel I thought this was. We have seen the time-travelling trope done a million times before now, but Morgan explores it in a whole new light which made for a really interesting read. My only criticism of this was there were a few loopholes or a couple of instances where I wasn't sure how plausible certain elements were, for example, why some characters remember their past while the rest of the world lives in ignorance. This time travel worked to portray some really difficult topics regarding fertility, teen birth and psychological abuse. I think this was a great way of showing such themes because Morgan highlighted the alternative outcomes in each timeline with each still having that emotional rawness that tugged on my heartstrings and showed how difficult these events are despite your circumstances.

Lizzie, the novel's protagonist, was such a relatable and funny character! She definitely gave me some Bridget Jones vibes that had me cringing and laughing with her at the same time. I couldn't help but feel this sadness for Lizzie, which was aided by Morgan's flashbacks, because we see the sacrifices she has made to help Charles pursue his dreams. Lizzie is a very selfless character and it made her all the more likeable in this narrative.

Likewise, Charles was another character that I felt very connected to. Morgan breaks down the stereotypes that often surround his job as an actor to create a character who is romantic, caring and ultimately seems like the ideal boyfriend, which makes his new relationship with Lizzie sadder. The chemistry between the couple was amazing and I found myself shouting at the pages for them to get to together! Morgan is wonderful at building strong character relationships that felt authentic to the story.

I would love to discuss more with you on this book but I'm wary of giving too many spoilers away so let me know in the comments if you've read this book yet and we'll chat! Overall, I thought this was a wonderful writing debut from Morgan which had all the features to make an amazing narrative. Melissa recently revealed she will be releasing a sequel in a few months about some of the other characters in the book so stay tuned for my review on that!

STOP THE BUS. I need to vent. Because I don’t know what I’ve just went through, but I know I’m SHOOK. Now, for those who do not know me, I am NOT a fan of the romance genre. I’m far too cynical and the handsome man does nothing but piss me off, the pretty girl does nothing but make me want to smack some sense into her, and the ending never works out like that in real life. HOWEVER... Forget Me Not has my vote! I can’t believe how INVESTED I am in this story, like I’m physically reeeeeeling and absolutely itching to go and get book 2 ASAP. How did this happen? Well I’ll tell you...

The main protagonists, Lizzie and Charles, are childhood sweethearts who have went through a hefty share of trials but, to Charles, as long as they were together that was all that mattered. Lizzie however, still broken from trauma, thinks life would be so much easier if they had never met. So she makes a wish... and tada - MAGIC. New storyline: Lizzie leaves Charles with no explanation just when their love was still young and blossoming and focuses on her life, leaving him no choice but to do the same. And, as fate would have it, over a decade later they stumble back into each other’s lives. Was Lizzie’s choice the right choice all along?

BOOM. That’s a plot. And may I just say, THE VERY TIP of the iceberg lads. Melissa Morgan, I am honoured to share my first name with you, you absolute genius. Thank you for creating a funny, heartbreaking, strong and all around FABULOUS story that has shifted my trust back into the fictional world of romance. What an actual angel. Lads, get this book on your TBR! What a breath of fresh air x

I honestly expected more from this book. I thought more things were gonna happen but no. I liked the premise of the story. I think it had a lot of potential but I feel like the execution was lacking. I think it could've done more but sadly it didnt. I did find the child thing very interesting bcs no one was in the wrong before the clock went back in time. Lizzie was having a hard time bcs she obviously cant conceive and feels guilty (which she shouldn't, it's something completely out of her control and society makes her think that it's solely her fault). Charles was trying his best to help her and exploded bcs of lack of communication.. He wanted to be father so bad but he also wasn't pressuring her to do anything. I guess you could blame Lizzie for not properly communicating her feelings but imo their situation as a whole was complicated, so I can see why. I also didn't like the fact that it was written in the third person. I guess it made me appreciate first person pov more. I didn't understand how everyone found out that they went back in time. That part didn't really make sense to me. Yay for the ending but I wished I saw more of their future. Like how did they navigate after telling each other how they feel. Do they get married again? Do they adopt? Do they drop the desire to have kids and get pets instead? So many questions.

Overall, it was an ok book. I wished it was better developed, but it is what it is.

As soon as I saw the Tik Tok on this book I knew I needed to read it. Unfortunately it felt a bit flat for me which sucks because I think the plot had so much potential. First of all the whole reason for her letting him go did not make sense to me. Also it seemed to me that if she truly loved him then she would see how much he also loved her. I can sympathize that her fathers verbal abuse affected her judgement but I felt that lack of communication in their marriage was not enough of a reason to completely alter her reality. Oh and her a brother is a bit too violent towards a person he considered a brother . Especially when he never properly confronted him to get the whole truth. The fact that all she had to do was text him a break up text to get him to stay away did not make sense to me either. I thought she was the love of his life and that he was planning on marrying her no matter what… so why would a text be enough to stop him from fighting for her? The ending was also confusing. All the characters get their memory back and are totally ok with her decision and just laugh it off like an “oh Lizzie”… yeah I’m not sure how to process this book.

This was a beautiful story! The author has written these characters that you root for, that you feel like you know intimately. By the end of the story, I felt like I knew Lizzie and Charles better than some of my real friends! And don't get me started on Neil... The magical realism set against the background of beautiful, familiar London is such a special touch, and you end up being transported to this world with these very real people and wanting to know more about their stories. Can't wait for the next one!

I’m not normally one for a romance novel but the magical twist on this had me hooked from the get go!

An absolutely beautifully written heartwarming story. You instantly fall in love with the two main characters and fall completely into their world with them.
My heart broke for Lizzie constantly and rooted with all my soul for her to have a happy ending.

I completely felt like I was reading a story about my best friends I cared so much. I laughed out loud and also full cried my eyes out!

So many things to think about from this book.

Time travel, infant loss, still birth, infertility.

Wow. Such a striking book. I loved every minute of it. My favourite character was Lottie.

I know that the author has written a follow up and I can’t wait to read it.

I stumbled across this book by accident and I am very happy I did. I enjoyed the plot from the first page onwards. The characters are well written and relatable. I could picture the scenes and especially the feelings soo well! The What If element was executed really well, that was the main reason I started reading and it kept me until the end.

So why not 5 starts then? :D
I would have liked some more background info of Neil and Bex, like how they met Lizzie and which role they played in the first life.
The chapters about the past were well placed but I do wonder why some characters have flashbacks sometimes. I thought that Charles had them when he touched Matt but that did not seem to be the case consistently. I would have appreciated to know why that happened (apart from the author's need to write about the past).
I also wonder how they all suddenly remembered and were so okay and not freaked out about the time traveling or even considered that a few people would not live if Lizzie (or Lottie?) hadn't made that wish.
I am really happy that the plot stayed in the second life though. I was scared for a moment that we would just travel back to the first life but I think it was a good choice to not do that.

Will continue with the second book - already sitting ony nightstand.

I leaned more towards 3 stars but after consideration i give it 4. Sooo this book is so heartbreaking and reminds me so much of 'All your perfects' from Colleen Hoover which is one of my favorite books of all time. I loved the characters and just the basic concept of the story however, this is book is EXTREMELY confusingly written. For me it seemed like it switched between pov's, timelines and past & present every chapter. Especially the concept of different timelines was hard to understand and i honestly think it's a bit weird how Charles , Matt etc. didn't seem to question it .Also the ending was a bit of a disappointment tbh. Otherwise it was enjoyable to read and made me feel a bunch of emotions. Would recommend if you like second-chance tropes!

Not sure why I torture myself finishing books that aren't worth the effort, but currently waiting for far more exciting library holds, so thought I'd finish this disaster that I bought for some reason before I donate it.

The entire story seems disjointed and unfinished, like a draft that hadn't been proof read, and so much about this story just doesn't make any sense. And so many typos and grammatical errors - how did it get published in this state?! Nothing about any of the characters was appealling at all, with their robotic dialogue like the author had never heard real people have a conversation before. The story even glosses over seriously problematic workplace behaviour and sexually inappropriate remarks - is this meant to be normal or okay in their world somehow?!

Overall just wasn't worth my time and would not recommend wasting yours - feel free to pick up literally anything else.

3.5/4 ⭐️
I cant decide whether this book is worth 3.5 or 4 stars, so I gave it both 🤷‍♀️ It was actually really funny - I began crying with laughter at a few scenes - & it’s a pretty original concept for a contemporary! It was as wholesome as it was sad, & they blended seamlessly! I did enjoy this one, & I’m not really a fan of contemporaries (unless it’s coho, but no surprise there), so that’s saying something 😮‍💨

my first 4 star read in forever?? loved that I was interested in the story from the first page & finished it quickly! contemporaries are way out of my norm but this had such a unique plot & was a complete emotional rollercoaster in the best way! the ending was kind of abrupt & shorter than I was expecting but I just saw that there’s 2 more books in the series so I will definitely be binging those!

This was unexpectedly really good. I didn’t have much expectations going in, but it really surprised me how invested I got in the characters and the relationship between Charles and Lizzie. I do wish there was a tiny bit more though, I felt like it ended a bit prematurely but that’s just me nitpicking.
