That ending has me screeeaming!

This is such a fun manga series, I can’t get enough of it. This volume wasn’t as good as the first one but it still had me cracking up every other page. You bet I’m going to read the next volumes, I’m so glad I found this series 😭✨

I’m sure I’ve observed this before, but so many manga series come to life in their second volumes rather than their first and this series is no exception.

In fact, I would argue that the screwball body swap jokes in this instalment are more fun than a large chunk of Junko’s previous series, Kiss Him, Not Me. Chika-as-Azu and Azu-as-Chika adapt surprisingly well* - Chika defuses the super-creepy childhood friend (the latter’s front door radar is hilarious) and Azu is becoming a better idol than Chika.

The main story is an easy four stars - so many good jokes and it’s hilarious how considerate of Azu’s body Chika is and how she has NO issue bathing as him. It also gets a lot of gay mileage out of her gazing at Chika’s bandmates (to say nothing of that ending!)

So the problem here is that the last twenty-odd pages are devoted to a Kiss Him, Not Me side story and while it’s pretty fun (and ALSO hella-gay, amusingly) it would have zero impact for anybody not familiar with that series. As fan service goes it is actually really sweet, but it’s pretty useless for the series newbie.

Still, this is my favorite of Junko’s work right now and I’m hoping it continues to lean into what it’s doing best.

*I would LOVE LOVE LOVE for the final coda of this series to be that Azu and Chika are happier in each others’ bodies rather than their own (there are enough hints at that this time to make it plausible). I doubt it will happen but it would be amazing.

Chika and Asuza switch bodies again and he goes to the same high school in order for them to be together when the swap happens.

Creepy bff who happens to be in love with Azusa instantly knows something is wrong with her and he too finds out about their secret.

As a romcom manga this has a lot of absurd scenes that make me laugh but the pace is rather slowly. Asuza can be pretty intense with her fangirling but I know she means well.

Honestly this gets four stars for the Kiss Him, Not Me side story at the end alone. Absolutely LOVE the Nana x Shino content.

Star-crossed is such a mess, but I’m enjoying the ride. I’m not sure what’s going to become of this little love square that’s popped up, but honestly I’m here for the characters getting with their childhood friends instead of each other. I think that makes the most sense. Especially Azusa and Fumi. They’re both insane and would fit so well with each other lol. This is a fun series and it gives me a lot of second hand embarrassment.

I liked this volume more and it's probably mostly for the kiss him not me content.

When Azusa and Chikashi stop swapping bodies, she thought it was the last she’d seen of him until he turns up as a new student at her school. It turns out that Chikashi’s manager has decided they need to spend more time together so that they can better mimic each other when they swap places. Just when things couldn’t get any more complicated thanks to fans rushing their school, Azusa and Chikashi swap places for the longest they ever have.

This series is bringing me so much happiness right now. It’s so much fun to read. I love the characters, the humor, and the overall story. The second volume slowly expands on what the first volume gave us. Now we get to see the characters start to truly blossom. Azusa is both hilarious, caring, and loyal as a person in addition to being an extremely loyal fan. Her response to any fellow fan trying to get pictures of Chikashi had me laughing so hard. That’s not even including to her trying and failing at not fangirling hard herself when they swapped bodies again.

I do think we learned a little more about Chikashi this time around, but not much. I’m not complaining though. There was a lot going on, but I did like the glimpses we got at character development and I think I like where it’ll be going. I also like that we’re starting to get to know other characters, mainly Azusa’s best friend and now Chikashi’s bandmates. I’m interested in seeing where we go from here, especially after that ending!

I already have the third volume, which I’m extremely excited to read sometime this week. I’m having a blast reading this series and highly recommend it if you’re a fan of body swap comedies.

Definitely some very fun and cute shenanigans this time around; but also, I demand to know… Just how many individuals are involved in this romance? The list only continues to grow! I feel as though the very fact that they say nobody else can know is foreshadowing to other people ending up needing to know. Furthermore, it seems to me that what triggers the transformation could be any time their heartbeats are in sync, or perhaps nearly any romantic moment between the two. They keep getting close, and it’s as if God is unknowingly punishing them for it. Or perhaps there’s a flaw within the rules, perhaps these rules are automatically carried out, rather than by the hand of a justiciary or something to that effect.

7 Days, 4 Years After (a special bonus chapter for Kiss Him, Not Me!)
I have not finished Kiss Him, Not Me, therefore there is a lot I don’t know but the page next to the cover page which serves as a refresher is quite helpful in bringing me up to speed just enough.
Consequently, I’m not super familiar with the characters either, so it felt like I was getting to know them in this bonus chapter. I think I really like all the characters I met, and the short story itself was memorable and quaint. It’s an intriguing start to a love story, for sure.

Well that cliffhanger certainly changed things up hahaha! Can't say I was too surprised by that twist though, I have a pretty good sense of characters' feelings.

This series is still mildly fun, but something about it just doesn't click all the way with me. Maybe it's the main characters themselves? Azusa feels a little too much like a caricature of a person and a fangirl, over a real person with real feelings, and sometimes that can work for me, but maybe this is the exception. Anyways, I'm excited to see what'll happen in volume 3!!

getting sillier by the volume. beginning is interesting, with chika/azusa now at the same school and having to deal with crazy fans and yet another body switch. there's a cute scene when they have to hide in a locker (forced proximity, squee). after this though, pacing is a bit weird and not a whole lot happens, except for azusa's childhood friend being super creepy/clingy and then chika's bandmate kissing him at the end. a big chunk of the end of this volume is an extra chapter for 'kiss him not me', which I was meh about, since I haven't read through that entire series.

2020 Read #529

This was such fun!! I had shaky feelings about the first volume, but this second installment was a hoot. I also loved the bonus story revisit to some of the characters from Junko’s former series Kiss Him, Not Me (more, Junko-sensei, please!!). But this body-swapping story is just really engaging and captivating when it gets down to it, especially because Junko plays so well with overused tropes and fashions them her own way. I can’t wait to see where this is going!

This series is only 4 books total, so it's super short. Which is a plus if you don't want to commit to a super long running series. I was a little confused by some of the things happening, but that's probably just me not paying enough attention while reading. It was a funny, fluffy read, and great if you're looking for something that isn't too intense.

I was hoping for a little bit more as far as the romance goes, but it was still an enjoyable read.

Very funny again but I gotta admit some scenes can be a bit weird but it’s by the same author as kiss him not me so what did I expect?😭 Also the ml personality is really boring and mature I feel like he should be a lot more freaked out about what’s happening then he is, but! It does balance out her personality being so over the top that’s why I think they would be a lot better together then her getting with her childhood friend :) so no second ml here

Assurdo! :-)

Ancora una storia bonus di "Kiss him, not me". Mi son spoilerata il finale...

This manga series is quickly turning into one of my favorite manga series of all time. This manga series is just so enjoyable and never fails to put a smile on my face. Not to mention the the artwork is absolutely STUNNING!
Highly Recommend to anyone who's even vaguely interested in a Idol/Fangirl Bodyswap manga!

Don't like the series. It started weird and isn't getting much better.

The bonus at the end for Kiss Him, Not Me; I very much enjoyed. And the only reason I will continue to get this series from the library is because the bonus said that there will "be more for another time". Ugh. But not reading this series anymore, just looking for the bonus.

Continues to be fun and zany. I am glad that this is a short series, it doesn't feel right now like it will need more than that to finish this story. But I am really enjoying this. I like it more than the other series (Kiss me) The art is very cute as well. I like that this is not the typical Idol falls in love story. Everyone in this feels so silly and over the top.

Well, the ending provides quite a twist for an already wildly spinning body swap story. It should make for some interesting challenges ahead. This is an entertaining start to the series with the art well suited to the exuberant sometimes frenetic atmosphere.

GAH! BAD AUTHOR FOR BAD CLIFFHANGER. 😭😭 I knew i should've gotten volume 3! 🤦😔😵

Anyways, reason this volume got 4 stars instead of 5 is due to Azusa's creepy stalker friend takes things a little too far.

I feel like the characterization for Fumi is everywhere. And then about 1/3 of the book is dedicated to the author's first series "kiss him not me" and that irritated me. Also I don't understand so many of the characters' choices.

This is more of a 2.5 rounded up. The humor didn't hit that much and there wasn't a lot to this volume. We get a confession but it's to the wrong person and more people are let in on the secret. The ending was pretty wild and that cliff hanger makes volume 3 exciting to check out.

I don't have much to say about this that wasn't said about the first volume; there's some interesting character interactions and the addition of a few stakes has been nice. I'm excited to see where we continue!
