Krista’s eyes are opened to the wider world around her. She sails to England in the company of her English teacher and a German aristocrat. She is frightened and unsure of her place in the world. What will become of her when she reaches England?
There are secrets revealed about Krista’s life – secrets she knows nothing about. She has people who care what happens to her. But because of the happenings in the world they cannot become involved in her life.
It is decided that Krista should work in the London home of Captain Caulfield, as a companion and assistant to Lia Caulfield and her twin sons. Will she be able to find her place in this strange new world?
This is the second episode in Krista’s story. The story was enjoyable, but I’m not sure I like the format. With hindsight I should have waited until the author had finished the series of ‘chapters’ and read them all in one go.
This is the continuing story of Krista's escape from a bad situation in the French/German border just as WW2 is about to begin. This story is beautifully written and very interesting. I feel I know the characters so well. I don't understand why some reviewers rated this poorly because it was short. The description clearly stated these are a series of stories. Also the number of pages are shown. There is nothing about the writing of character development to complain about. Great story.
I just love to read Gemma Jackson! This series has been very quick and short books, but in her usual style they always tell a great story quickLy and engagingly. This one tells of a young gal, Krista, who escaped the German French border a few years before the start of the second world war and emigrated to Great Britain. This episode number two tells of her life as an au pair as the war is about to begin.
In book 2 of the Krista’s War series we begin to learn about her new life in England. Krista’s whole world changes for the better. She discovers her parents are deceased and must decide what direction her life will take. In the meantime she goes to London to be Lia’s assistant. War against Hitler is imminent and I have a feeling Krista will somehow be involved.
These books just keep getting better and better. A very well easy plot with amazing characters. Looking forward to reading the next one. Have already recommened this series.
I was floored this really was two short stories. Sorry Gems Jackson. I love your writing and about died that you were serious! Two stories whet my appetite so dear author, get on with it!
