It is the 23rd century, the world is no longer a group of warring nations trying to kill each other. Space travel is a reality and with Earth slowly becoming a small place to live in due to depleted resources and increased population, other worlds were sought out and in a span of a few years a number of planets were successfully colonized.
While advancements in all spheres were going on, within the shadows rose a violent political faction comprising of people who did not believe in the philosophy of a unified world. War erupted again, a unified world against a single faction that led to heavy casualties on both sides. While all options to curb the violence seems to be running out, the ISS – Indian Space Service – assigns a squad of brave soldiers to embark on a perilous journey to find a lost asset.
Said to be one of the most powerful and advanced starships ever created, the ship along with its crew disappeared in the most mysterious of circumstances and was deemed MIA – Missing in Action. As a last resort, the squad lead by Lieutenant Commander Sudhir Sinha, attempts to achieve what was said to be impossible a long time back – solve the mystery of the starship’s disappearance and bring it back in one piece. They called it – The ISS MOONRISER.
Science fiction is something which finds its way a lot in the works of foreign authors, more so in movies and partly in the literary field too. Though, we Indian readers haven't been that fortunate to witness a futuristic read, something like an interstellar but this novel, 'Moonriser' comes as a breath of fresh air and proves there is still a lot of untapped potential that can be explored in this genre.
The book takes us to 23rd century when the world is facing rampant population explosion and various planets have reached the saturation levels after accommodating enough humans. Notwithstanding this fact, people are still living happily with the ever growing technological advancements at their disposal until one day, some hostile forces gets unified to disrupt the plans of maintaining the sanctity of the world. There enters a brigade of soldiers who are ready to put their lives at stake and are resolute to wipe the enemies out. Will they be successful? Grab the book to find more.
'Moonriser' is a culmination of various genres with breathtaking adventures and actions at the forefront. The thrill, emotions and the utmost willingness of a son to save his father is beautifully captured too. The story is fast paced and feels realistic without going over the top in narration. The cover is decent too and so does the title. There are instances which literally give goosebumps and the plot is artistically carved. Certainly a decent read.
A good science fiction story should be able to predict not the automobile but the traffic jam
Science fiction, outside of poetry is the only literary field which has no limits, no parameters what's over. You can go not only into the future into a wonderful place called others.
This was very interesting and usual science fiction ( thriller), partly due to its interesting story base. Everyone can find some special points about space agency, violent wars, futuristic imagination concepts, along with some insights into the unique political and historical setting. This books basically tells about the story of a soldier and his life story, In simple words, this book is a science fiction about the story of a soldier who is searching for his father who went missing during a reconnaissance mission. And how a soldier tries to solve this mystery of his father disappearance. This book creates lots of suspense that make the book evolve tremendously. Cover of the book looks interesting and totally according to the title of the book. Cover and its title perfectly matched with each other, I really like the way the author wrote this story. ( How I feel ) I have a mixed feeling about this book. The science fiction is the start 1/8th part of the story is great and has you hooked in, Imagination and story creation is perfect and provoking. The story last part tells about how more solid solve the mystery and what rules he follows to find the explanation. All characters and conversation between all characters are well developed and beautifully described. The way people behave, their choices and to be honest when you understand what's coming next, it makes sense that he would what he proves.
Overall, a good story with an interesting topic. I recommended this book a's great as reading if you like to read science fiction books 📚 My rating 3.5 star ✳️ Thank you Happy reading
Moonriser : The Search for a Lost Behemoth by Mr.Spundan Dasgupta is an interesting futuristic science fiction. It is the year 2220 when humans have agreed to live peacefully . Few planets are already colonalized and WRDO and ISS are searching for more alternative planets to start human civilization colonies . But now a Behemoth named Moonriser which is a gigantic assault cruiser has been built with advanced technology to explore and find new worlds. But terrorist group named FIRE with separatism in mind has been trying hard to demobilise this mission with DEHSAT. Due to its intervention Moonriser dissolves away in the space and looses all communication. Years of hard work and many soldiers fade away in the dark unknown in which Lt. commanders Sudhir's father was also there. While potentials are being brainwashed the search for the Cruiser does not stop. It is more of a political action packed space related science fiction. They land in a secret base and find someone who can provide Sudhir and his squad some interesting revelation about a watch. How was Ijaz related with the Moonriser ? On M162 what will they find ? Will they learn more about the enemy mission and the extraordinary powers of the Behemoth . I liked the description of the chaotic asteroid belt and even the Wormhole. Will they succumb in front of the enemies power and return empty-handed or against all odds establish the final communication and win the control of the Behemoth ?
As I like to read and watch Science fictions, I enjoyed reading this book too and yes the cover is mesmerizes me each time I look at it.
