When Sophie's tenant is found murdered, Henry finds himself on the case with a need to solve one murder and prevent another. Keeping Sophie safe and in his arms is his number one priority even when she doesn't think she needs saving.

While Sophie doesn't believe a man like Henry Flynn would want her; Henry believes fate has brought them together. Let's see if fate wins out over logic. Fingers crossed fate wins because who doesn't love a happy ending?

This book is intended for a mature audience--ages 18+. It is a stand-alone with a sexy hero and an HEA. If you are offended by coarse language, you may want to skip this because Henry Flynn has a dirty mouth.

Three strikes and I’m out. First, it literally starts with another character insulting the heroine, calling her fat. Then, the heroine calls herself fat and runs herself down, generally being doormat. Ok, not my fave but maybe she gets some confidence, could be a good character journey, yada yada yada. Then the hero, a cop, sees her and describes her as about 5’, and 120lbs.

*record scratch* What in the wide, wide world of sports is this fuckery? No. Just no.

But, masochist that I am I said maybe it gets better. *blinks* oh no, it doesn’t. Heroine continues to repeatedly refers to herself as fat, just about every female character not the heroine is a vile, jealous, mean person AND that’s only at 35%!

But when the “hero,” who’s an egotistical jerk, hooks up with a random and has sex after kissing and grinding with the heroine?

Fuck it. This is not worth the aggravation. Stay far away if any of these things is a dealbreaker for you.

This started out very promising: a hunky and attracted hero, a sweet curvy heroine, some mean girl action and then kerplunk... despite being insanely attracted to the heroine hooks up with a random woman at a wedding because it's been five minutes (I exaggerate) since he had sex. The heroine hears the hookup ask for round 2. Come on, Romance Writer Miller, was that necessary?

Lots and lots of bad things happen to the heroine like attempted murder etc. Curviness, murder, mayhem and abuse and bad H behavior seem to abound with this author.

Three star, I was going to 2 star due to the sexapade and the Hs demeaning comments. If I only knew how much worse it could be...dun dun DUN so 3 stars for being a stellar Big Fat Jackass amount greater ones. Ahem.....The Importance of Being Ernie: The Flynns Book 4. I don't know why the heroes are all such jerks in her books as the H's parents are great.

Well I struggled to like any of the characters. The h is really stupid as was the H. The murder mysteries weren't very mysterious, most things were obvious. The couple are both stupidly stubborn, and they fight, make up and fight again. I was determined to finish but they didn't improve.

Uh-oh! I'm starting to see a pattern here. These are the cousins of Ed Flynn, but evidently not a one of the boys ever figured out how to court a woman. These are possibly some of the biggest lunkheads (but lovable) I've ever read about.

Hank Flynn happens to be a cop investigating a crime. The woman who catches his attention is involved, only they...well, I don't want to spoil it.

Anyway, the poor, put-upon girl with practically no self-esteem does bag her man, but it's all hard work until the end. On the way I vacillated between wanting to slap the girl into awareness and wishing for a chance to kick the detective in the patootie. (What is a patootie, anyway?)

Good story

I wanted to love these two, but every time they seemed alright, Boom, one of them got on my nerves. He was a nice guy when he wasn't being a complete and utter jerk. She was sweet when she wasn't being hard on herself and letting people, including our "hero" treat her like garbage. There were sweet and funny parts, and the story on a whole was good, just wish I liked both main characters more.

This book was definitely not for me. I hate giving this book this low rating but I hated the hero and the heroine because she put up with him!!! I’ve never added so many notes and highlights to a book. I’ll mark my review as spoilers to be fair but I honestly wished I had read more reviews before starting this one.

This book would typically go against every rule I have when it comes to reading.
Hank is a douche. No other way around it. He makes it a point to constantly mention he's not looking for a relationship, he sleeps with another woman after he's basically dry humps the heroine, he does point out to anyone that will listen that Sophie is not his type because she's a bigger girl, and he's just flat out rude to the heroine.
Sophie is a bit of a doormat when it comes to Hank. She allows him constantly back in his life even after she tells him she wants nothing to do with him. She's not a "stick to your guns" kind of woman, obviously. She allows her boss and co-workers to bully her, but it's okay because she knows she fat. She's also a bit oblivious to how much a person is willing to risk when they feel they've been slighted. Not once after everything that happens to her does she believe her ex-coworker could be responsible, even after being threatened by her and having her other coworker point out that she'll do whatever she feels necessary to get back at her.

Now, when Hank finally pulls his head out of his rear end and realizes that Sophie is so much more than he could ask for, does he grovel?
Eh, not enough in my opinion. When she overhears him calling what they have an "experiment" he tells Sophie he just doesn't want everyone to know his personal business... I'm sorry, but to my ears and eyes I'm thinking he doesn't want anyone to publicly know he's dating a bigger chick because he'll get ribbed for it. But that's just me!
Lastly, what's the deal with bringing in the ex? It adds nothing to the story except for 2 minutes to show how big of a witch David's wife is.

Out of the Blue

I have read Kayt Miller before and I loved the Palmer Sisters it was so good I decided I needed to read another series by Miller. The Flynns is the series I chose. Out of the Blue is about the oldest son Henry aka Hank Flynn. Its starts off great, the middle has parts I could do without and the ending turned out good as well. Henry aka Hank is a detective, an alpha, protective but he has a mean side. Sofie is the leading lady, she is bullied from the very beginning of the story. She goes though so much and never sees the bad side of people. She forgives and loves very easily but she also has such a low self esteem of herself. So I felt it was great to see her speak up to Henry, look at herself and be happy. Her character definitely matures and grows from beginning to end. The storyline was good but somethings could of been left out. Overall a good story but I would put this is the drama genre not Romcom. Happy Reading!!

This book was so bad that I cannot help but laughed throughout reading it. The Hero—if you can even call him that—is a big giant loser. Like if you googled the meaning of “men are trash”, you’d see his picture.

He did all the shit that any creepy, misogynistic man would do. He bulldozed into the heroine’s life, treated her like a child and when they first slept together, he accused her of trapping him with a baby. He also told his partner that he was experimenting with her because he didn’t want his friend to give him shit.

Like are you serious with me right now? What kind of a baby are you? What kind of toxic masculinity bs is this? I have to laugh.

So the hero basically cheated at the beginning. I know they were not an official couple but they had a heavy makeout session and orgasm induced grinding. Then he puts on the brakes, goes out and gets drunk, sleeps with random hookup. He then has the nerve to be like “baby, it didn’t mean anything”?!?!?!🤨👿 Even the sex scenes lacked much chemistry or creativity. The couple of acts we get are a wam, bam.....no thank you! I really wanted the heroine to cut him loose and find a different hero. We also get told over and over again that the heroine is fat. I get it. Really, I get it. Seriously....I GET IT!🙄 Not sure why I finished this book and definitely won’t be reading the rest.

Ok so Sophie deserves so much better than Hank.. he was a tool an asshole he cheats on her so many times and he disrespects he so much.. why would a woman want something to do with a man like that.. He has sex with her without talking about protection and snaps on her like it’s her fault. He just assumes the worst and treats her like ish and it’s not until she almost dies that he realizes she’s his everything .. I despise Hank with a passion... I love Mick and Keith and the sisters

A lot better than I thought it was gonna be, and if Henry hadn’t been so annoying throughout the whole book, it would be much higher! He was really hot, and usually I love when the hero messes up so that he can grovel and fix it, but he fucked up TOO much. Like at this point, you’re just an idiot, lmaoo. LEARN.

Also, this book really liked to go into detail about the investigation, which was annoying. Not that I wasn’t interested, but at most I only needed a summary of the findings, not the entire report. Plus, the payoff for that was kind of lackluster, so I felt like it was all for nothing. I still liked the book, but I could’ve LOVED it. 3.5 ⭐️

Ok I really want to give this book 4.5 stars! The editing is the reason it doesn't have 5 stars! I really, really liked this book. I think I am going to continue on with this series of all the women are like Sophie! This book was funny, a little mysterious and hard to put down. And it was way over 200 pages. It also has another story starting that starts. And not you usual sneak peek either. I thought I was getting lucky with 2 books in one. But sadly it wasnt. But now I am hooked on that book too!

Ummmmm........

Well, I have loved her other books but this book just wasn’t quite as good. All her books seem to have that one person who attacks the main female character but this one is just not as interesting. Henry’s one night stand pissed me off. Why would she have sex with him right after. I really hate it when characters have sex with someone outside of the main love story. Especially when they have already started to build the love story. All in all ..... not one of my favorites.

You care about a woman so much that you pick up another woman at your brother’s wedding to bang? Classy. And THEN the h calls and hears the OW you just bagged, gets hurt, and she STILL chooses to sleep with you within the next day or two? Either Hank has some serious game or Sophie is a serious doormat. I’m leaning toward the latter, since Hank clearly likes playing games with women’s emotions. This book had potential, but the doormat h and super duper hot H who no one can believe is with her is just too played out and repeated too many times in this book.

Love the Flynn brothers!

Henry is a cop who meets Sophie when he goes to get fitted for a tux for his brothers wedding. Both are instantly attracted to each other, but don't think they will see each other again. Through a series of crazy events like murders and burglary, they keep getting thrown back together. Their feelings just keep getting deeper, but can they learn to trust that what they have us the real deal? I loved the banter and chemistry between Henry and Sophie. 🔥

So I just re-read this and dropped it to two stars. Why you wonder? Because I had it at three before, but after a second reading I realized I really really really didn't like Henry and the situations were so awful I just .... hated the book. Which is funny because I like the Palmer sister series and the other books in the Flynn series for the most part. The Flynn books aren't my favorite Kayt Miller for sure. But here's the reason for the two stars.... after Henry meets Sophia he's not just a jerk, he's scary. As in... on their third meeting, he walks into her house and after not finding her downstairs, go upstairs where she's in her underwear getting undressed. He's a cop right? Instead of going back downstairs, he crowds into her and refuses to leave even though she asks him to repeatedly because he's sure she's actually turned on. WTH? He's a cop??? He doesn't even think of leaving until his partner comes into the house and starts up the stairs. Can you imagine a guy, let alone law enforcement, doing this to someone you know? Add in his utter lack of apology for hooking up with another women, after his first sexual encounter with the heroine, and her expectation that that's what he'd do and being ok with it.... then top the whole pie off with him trying to force a morning after pill on her after blaming her for not asking him to put a condom on and bam. Just no.
