Since Dex was introduced to us, I’ve been wanting to dive into his story. I’ve loved him as a side character, leaving me positive I will love him as the lead. Although I’m not a big fan of novellas, I was curious enough about Dex’s character to give this one a read.

In truth, this isn’t quite a full three-star rating. I enjoyed it, but I wasn’t crazy about it. It’s a read for fans of the series that want a little bit more, for those wanting to see things from Dex’s point of view. It does not add to the overall story, it simply gives an insight into Dex’s thought processes.

All in all, this was a nice little read to get me ready for Hero, but it wasn’t quite as enjoyable as I’d hoped.

*You will appreciate this book if you first read Master, Crusader, Decadent Christmas, Decadent Knights, and Prey*

Dex becomes a beloved character throughout several of the stories of the impossible series. DEX is a compilation of all of the above-mentioned stories from Dex's point of view.

Even before knowing of his internal conflict and self-doubts, I empathized with Dex because he was always around to help others and never found his own happy ending throughout everyone else finding theirs.

His point of view made me love him even more, while also fanning the fire of my rage towards characters I thought I previously loved. It's amazing how a really good author can make you love characters in one story and truly hate their guts a few books later.

DEX is a story for all of the fangirls who love him and wanted MORE. It simultaneously sets the scene for his own story which is hopefully coming soon. I really want Dex to get his happily ever after and I can't wait for the next installment!!

Dex appears in quite a few of the later stories in the Impossible series. The book is made up of lots of scenes from these previous stories, but written from Dex's POV. It is a very heart rendering, sad and painful account of Dex falling in love with Katie and his subsequent struggle to move on when she chooses another man.

I loved the book and now desperately want Dex to find his HEA. It is so well written and held me captivated from the start. You need to have read at least Master to really understand and follow this book, though the series is so good I'd recommend that you read them all.

Meh. I guess I'm not certain of this novella's purpose yet, but I assume it's setting us up for the final book, Hero. It bounced around a bunch and revisited several scenes we've read throughout the series. I found Dex really irritating early on in the book, acting like Katie belonged to him. Don't get me wrong, I'm all for possessive alphas, but for some reason he just came off annoying. I eventually grew fonder of him and the novella progressed and definitely now see him as an underdog. I'm ready for his HEA.

Dex is a Novella by Julia Sykes that gives you his point of view on certain scenes from when we first fell in love with his sexy nerd self in Master up until Decadent Knights. This was a brilliant idea by Julia because it help get us ready for his happy ever after in Hero. Even though this book is a standalone, I highly recommend everyone read the series in order to fully appreciate this story.

Loved these books although the overwhelming BDSM get to be a bit much in some of them.

Dex

This book appears to be a summary of many of the books I've already read but I still enjoyed reading it. All Julia Sykes books so far are worth the time to read.

It's a prequel to Hero. Told from his point of view of losing the woman he was in love with and broke his heart cause she wasnt in love with him.

A short novella from DEX POV before the impossible series. Dex is hung about his partner in work Katie and can't see past her not wanting him that he transfers to another department. Aimslessly going through life with no purpose until he meets Chloe. I got a glimpse of the writing style of the author although easy to read but don't feel the urge to carry on with the series.

NOT A STAND ALONE!!!!!

Dex by Julia Sykes is a novella that focuses on major events in Dex's life. We, the reader, have already read these events from another POV in other novels so I would not recommend reading this one before the others.

I was and still am so excited about Dex. Out of all of Julia's men in the Impossible series Dex had taken hold of my heart. I feel for the others but I seriously FEEL for Dex. He's experienced so much torment when the one person he thought he loved fell in love with another. Dex fell into a despair and has stayed there.

I'm in absolute love with this novella. There was a time when I wanted to shake Julia Sykes and demand happiness for Dex. If his happiness came in the form of a bigger, curvier girl named Christina the better. *wink*

Dex, by Julia Sykes gives us a personal insight into exactly how major scenes in many different stories affected Dex. How he struggled, how he moved forward, how he was alive but seemed to stop living. If you had really no feelings toward this character before you will definitely be feeling something after reading this.

Dex has pumped me up and rallied my girl bits for Hero, Dex's HEA, and the next novel in the Impossible Series.

Stay tuned people. It's going to be epic!

I have never read anything by Julia Sykes that I have not loved.
This novella about Dex is brilliant because you get to go back through previous books in this wonderful series. Saying that, you only touch on those books. Seeing certain scenes through Dex's gorgeous eyes.
This is not only a genus plan as you get to understand why Dex is the way he is. It leads the way forward for his story.
I cannot believe how far this Impossible series has come. Each and ever character has a place in my heart.

Dex

When you love, care for someone, yet give them that space, unsure if they are ready for a d/s relationship, you work together, then in a blink of an eye, it's all gone. Due to unfortunate events, circumstances, new partner, Dex has loved Katie since she was 1st his partner, then she started getting threatening letters, and Reed came into the picture, everything changed, Dex's love for Katie has hung on, but Katie moved on, will Dex be able to finally move on? Great story on insight on Dex, cannot wait for Dex and Chloe's story❤️.

I loved reading this novella about Dex. It takes you from when Dex met Katie, and then from Master through the Decadent Knights novella in Dex's point of view. If you have read Master, then you felt for Dex, when his Sparrow met Reed. Reading through his perspective is gut wrenching in his grief for losing her to another Master. Seeing how he dealt with his feelings, especially that scene where he bottoms to Clara, was...is...amazing. This definitely will only whet your appetite until Dex gets his HEA!

This one was a little hard to read about. It was a good book…I just didn’t connect with the main character. I always kind of hated Dex throughout this series. I thought he was a huge dick, always trying to get in the way of Katie’s happiness. Reading this gave me that glimpse into his head on why he was the way he was. Still don’t like him very much, but now I guess I can see where he was coming from.

I absolutely LOVED this look at Dex, his view on things since we were first introduced to him. I loved how we were taken through his scenes from previous books with different characters, from his point of view. I have had a soft place in my heart since then and I'm finding there is even more about him that draws you in. He's a strong Dom with a broken heart and I cannot wait to follow him on his next journey!!

I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

It was really fun to see many of the events from the series from Dex's point of view. You also realize how many books he's been in and with how many people he's had scenes with. He's been waiting for his HEA for a long time now I can't wait for his book to see how things end =D

Dex is definitely an Impossible fangirl read! I absolutely loved getting to see everything that involved Dex throughout the series, from his perspective. This book only made me that much more excited to read Hero then I already was! Absolutely can not wait for more of this series!

I love Dex and his nerdy awesomeness. I love all of Julia's characters but I think Dex is the one true book boyfriend that I hold onto.
This book gives you just enough of a taste make you come back wanting more.

Short but sweet

This is a real short story about Dex. If you have read the other books in the series than you know all about him. If not than what are you waiting for? This story is an intro on Dex, and why he is the way he is. Strongly recommend.
