Book 3. Codex
While in Rome, Biblical archeologist Dr. Abigail Spencer is surprised by a phone call from Special Agent Riley. A codex which can help reveal the location of the Spear of Destiny has been discovered. With the codex in their possession, Abigail and Riley are determined to find the ancient artifact before the ruthless organization, Vortex.
But with further clues to the location of the Spear of Destiny seemingly destroyed when Mount Vesuvius erupted in 79 AD, and with Vortex hot on their heels, do Spencer and Riley have any chance of victory?
USA Today Best-selling author Ruth Hartzler spends her days writing, walking her dog, and thinking of ways to murder somebody. That's because Ruth writes cozy mysteries and adventures. She is best known for her archaeological adventures, for which she relies upon her former career as a college professor of ancient languages and Biblical history.
This is a very different story for Ruth Hartzler from her Amish mysteries.
Dr. Abigail Spencer is an ancient languages scholar. She is part of a special task force that keeps relics and other major discoveries safe from evil governments and organizations.
Special Agent Jack Riley asks college professor, Dr. Abigail Spencer, to translate an ancient copper scroll, she has no idea it will lead to the lost treasure of Croesus hidden for centuries. She has a major adventure that takes her to Ephesus, Turkey. Among some other locations. The team is running for their lives several times as the Vortex agents are tracking them to find the hidden treasures.
This is a fun and well-written story that is fast-paced, keeps you on your toes, and keeps the pages turning. The first couple of chapters are slow-paced, but necessary for the background information.
If you are a fan of Ritter Ames Bodies of Art series? You will love this book.
Book 2) Papyrus
Adventure and danger await in the pages ahead.
In this fast-paced and action-packed story.
Some girls just can't get a break. All Dr. Abigail Spencer wants is one date with Agent Jack Riley. Without being drawn into an investigation by RHTF (Relic Hunters Taskforce). The government agency in which is Riley's employer, and whom Dr. Spencer is a paid consultant.
Abigail and Riley are on the hunt for the spear of Goliath. The actual spear he carried into battle against David.
Ruth Hartzler has done her homework in both history, and biblical history to bring a tale that is both captivating, and nail-biting. Descriptions of the possible tunnels and protections built into the ancient pyramids are completely believable and vivid enough that you feel you are right there with the characters as they go from one danger to another.
Book3) Codex
Dr. Dr. Abigail Spencer is called upon once again to help Special Agent Jack Riley locate an ancient artifact, and keep it out of the hands of Vortex. This time it's The Spear of Destiny.
The story rotates between the present time, and A.D. 79 just a few days before Mr. Vesuvius erupted, burying the metropolis of Pompeii.
The detail and histories included in the story can only be achieved with a vast amount of research.
This is the third story in this series, and they just keep getting better. There's plenty of action, and a couple moments of comedic relief.
The story line in both the past and present are very realistic and believable.
1. Scroll (Relic Hunters) by Ruth Hartzler I received a free copy of this book via author and am voluntarily leaving a review. It's been a long time I had read a book as interesting as Scroll. It made me feel like I was in the middle of the story and being part of it. This is a completely different genre, written by Ruth Hartzler and I can't wait to see if the next book is as good as this one was. Ruth Hartzler has shown us she can write whatever genre she wants and does it wonderful.
2. Papyrus Archaeological Adventure (Relic Hunters Taskforce Book 2) by Ruth Hartzler I received a free copy of this book via author and am voluntarily leaving a review. Oh my God. I could not stop reading this book. I slept tonight because I had to, but today I've spent every free minute reading Papyrus. I loved the book, I love the Relic Hunters series and the way Ruth Hartzler is capable of giving the story the right amount of suspense, danger, adventure and action, making me feel like I was one of them, living the story while I was reading. Now, I'm ready for Codex, book 3.
A book full of the perfect amount of suspense, adventure and adrenaline.
3. Codex (Relic Hunters Taskforce Book by Ruth Hartzler I received a free copy of this book via author and am voluntarily leaving a review. A great series where each book contributes to the wonderful story Ruth is telling us. The story is based in Ruth's knowledge and studies and she continues giving us suspense, adventure and adrenaline throughout the book. I can't stop saying that this is a great series that made me live the story while I was reading it. Loved it.
Inscription - Dr Abigail Spencer is a college professor who is literate in both Greek and Latin. She lives a pretty calm life until she is kidnapped along with a bronze disk. Then the excitement begins.
I read this novella after reading the 3 full books in the series. It’s a great explanation as to how Abigail got into her side gig.
Scroll - Abigail Spencer is a part-time professor of ancient languages. Her knowledge and background have led her to be a consultant in Relic Hunters Taskforce. This group tries to protect valuable relics from use for profit by terrorists’ groups. In this book Abigail is asked to find a copper scroll that will lead to the treasure of Croesus. The search involves solving puzzles, dangerous travel, crocodiles and mercury trails. I really enjoyed this book.
Papyrus - Abigail Spencer returns ready for another wild ride. I could not put this book down. Abigail is searching for Goliath’s spear. This search involves a sunken pyramid and labyrinth. I thoroughly enjoyed this read.
Codex - Dr Abigail Spencer is safely in Rome where she is presenting a paper when Ryan shows up and grabs her for another adventure. This involves the spear of destiny and solving a codex. This book alternates the story between the eruption which buried the hidden spear and Abigail and Ryan’s search. Another great book. Remember these are best read in order.
Well done! The three stories are very interesting to read. History has never been so interesting or exciting. Imagine, three different items that probably were overlooked or just read over while reading your Bible. Who would have thought?
Abigail and Riley are on the hunt to find these lost priceless relics dating back to Bible times. Their enemies, Vortex and other selfish individuals are trying to get them first to be able to fund terrorism around the world or build up their own wealth. Relic Hunters Task Force is to get to the relics first and bring them in for protection or make it impossible for anyone else to get them.
Each story is different. Of course we would be disappointed if there wasn’t a developing love interest between Abigail and Riley and each story developers this interest in a clean, Biblical way. Don’t let the pictures of Abigail on the front of the books scare off you that like clean reading. The pictures make her look like a hussy but you will find she is a very beautiful scientist that lives by Christian principles. Enjoy your reading.
This rating is for the three books as a group. When I finished the first book I was disappointed. It just finished so quickly and didn't supply what I was expecting. The historical detail was fine, but the character development and tension lacked. The second book improved in character development and somewhat in tension. The winner was the third book. The writing was creative and the characters began to truly come to life. I still feel the tension could be amped up but overall I see hope for better things. These three books must be read together to get a worthwhile experience.
Loved these 3books, didn't want to put them down... Exciting, adventure, action... What more could you ask for??? Oh yeah, a hint of romance thrown in... Well written great stories... Left me wanting the next adventure... 5 Stars... 😄
review of Relic Hunters Task Force by Ruth Hatzler
A very interesting read I love archaeology based adventures and this is one of them it grabs you right away and doesn't let go until you are done a lot of surprises and great characters to try you interested I recommend this book
I love this series, each book individually and collectively. This author knows how to take her readers on an adventure with her characters. Anyone who likes mystery and intrigue will like this series, too.
The research and biblical content was excellent. archeology, egyptology, mysteries The plot was interesting The style was for young adults Overall for a quick read
I would’ve liked to of given this book a higher rating. Characters are likable, but writing reminds me of a book I read in junior high. The most interesting book of the series is the third one where it jumps from telling the story of the people at the time of the destruction of Pompeii to the current day.
