Gideon is a chameleon who is very upset when none of the other jungle animals notice him because...well, he's a chameleon. Then, one day, when a hungry tiger comes along, Gideon tries to warn the other animals, but since they can't see him they think his shouts are just jungle noises. So Gideon jumps on the tiger and scares him away. From that day on, the animals speak of the strange event, but Gideon his content knowing that even if they can't see him, they certainly need him! A story with the moral that there is satisfaction in doing a good deed, even when the heroism goes unnoticed.

Gideon can turn any color he wants – a perk of being a chameleon, or so he thought. Gideon soon learns that his ability makes it hard for the other animals to see him. Tired of being invisible, the color-changing creature decides to leave town. On his trip, Gideon spies a dangerous enemy creeping closer to his home. Knowing he must warn the other animals, Gideon turns back and tries to voice his fears, with no success. Gideon takes matters into his own hands and saves the day, along with the lives of all of his home’s inhabitants.

A delightfully charming story about terrible tigers, holding on to hope, and knowing that unsung doesn’t mean unvalued.
