Against the tense political backdrop of the Second French Empire, siblings Camille and Marianne find themselves wrestling with personal demons both past and present. As Camille strives to keep family secrets buried and unveil a plot against them, Marianne becomes involved with the handsome Baron Auclair and his mysterious younger sister. Little do the siblings know that soon their very different lives will come crashing together... - Sequel to 'Chasing a Ghost'.
This is a sequel to Chasing a Ghost, so it's technically still linked to the world and characters of Les Mis. However, the story focuses mostly on original characters.
Chasing a Legacy more diverse than Chasing a Ghost (in terms of race, gender, and sexuality).
Again, many of the identities and experiences in this book are #ownvoices.
CW: sexual assault, domestic violence, murder, suicide/suicidal ideation, misgendering, period-typical drug use
incredible storytelling and representation, adored every element of the plot and felt like i couldn't put it down. you can feel these characters struggling under the legacy of their parents, and they are such delightful and tragic characters themselves. will read anything dorian writes, it's all magical.
