Read it in one sitting! This is a literary fiction novel, with a ‘Romantic/Psychological Thriller’ twist. I’ve been devouring romance novels in the past year, but I am at a point where nothing seems original. Yes, the words are different, but the context of the stories mainly rely on storylines already in circulation. Well, that has been the case, until I came across “Into the Void.” When I read the summary I knew this was a must-read, so I was ready to set my other books aside and dive in. After reading the first chapter, I felt so absorbed I couldn't put it down! I loved it. Books like this are definitely my cup of tea from now on. The book revolves around the story of Asha and Wren, two women who come together from a strong mutual attraction and their relationship becomes intimate. The two have had issues in their past relationships, and hence this feels like an awakening until Wren feels like she needs to let go due to developing issues in the relationship. I found the book as pretty thrilling, suspenseful and engaging. Readers will be engaged with the realistic dialogue and an impressive flow of the story; not forgetting the first person narrative which provides insight into Ash’s mental instability – enough said. Other than the uniqueness of the story, the author has shown mastery in her character development and style. Besides the twists and turns in the story, the setting in contemporary Johannesburg, South Africa, intrigued me as it is so different from the other novels I have read. If this is the author's debut book, I can’t wait to get my hands on her next release!
