Nothing goes on in this city without me knowing about it. We run the whiskey business. We run the brothels.
But it's not all fun and games: while we’ve eliminated our smaller rivals and obstacles, there are still powerful forces in the Elven empire and their Dwarven toadies who could topple our criminal empire. But the tide has turned, and soon our enemies will be dead, or they’ll be turned into allies.
We have to play it smart, because this isn’t about running rackets in one city. It’s about moving into every city and then toppling the Elven empire before they even know the danger they are in.
This book was far better than book 5 in many ways. Wade's character reestablished his moral roots, though no mention was made of the inconsistencies within the last book in that regard. The story unfolded better, and things seemed less forced and more thoroughly planned and set up in advance. I was disappointed in two things. First, that Dar barely made an appearance in this book, moreso because no reason was given as to where he was or what he was doing. The author is expanding Wade's 'Empire' so much that he's forgetting to cover some of the bases, like Dar and how the catering business is functioning. The disappointing factor here is because the story covered all of the various properties Wade performs business in, yet no Dar. Would've been a simple thing to assign him to various tasks 'off-camera' so to speak in some of these locales. Second, this book was also very 'harem'-centric. While not a bad thing, the empire is expanding with women lieutenants in an overly predictable manner, likely to increase the draw of the harem factor of the books. I get it, but it's more than a little artificial again. Hopefully, the author will make more use of Dar, Skam, and the new Dryson and his men in future works, maybe even some of the dwarven male theives. Nit that I'm against the female lieutenants, but I'd like to see it be a little more reasonable in the use of the men too, not so artificial (including Twila and Ashley, though both deserve to be larger parts of the business and therefore the story). Would also like to see more casual affection between Wade and his girls, especiallynin the presence of the other girls, and even moreso especially when it isnt in the public eye. There were a few instances in this book where a man in love would've shown more personal affection and learned over with a quick, but soft kiss to his lady loves, Ava, Penny, and Cim, and when in the presence of one of the other ones, it would've illustrated a lack of shame or feeling the need to hide or protect the others' feelings since they're all supposed to be happy with the overall situation, not resentful or merely accepting of it.
This seems less about Wade and his magic keys and more like Wade and his magic penis. Not sure I like where this series is going - hope the next one is better.
Very enjoyable book! I admire the way the main characters plan and execute on growing the business. Also looking forward to what is going to happen in the downtrodden Human district and what is going to be the play with the pawnshop Wade acquired. I do like the interplay between the main characters, though I must admit that I missed Dar & the awesome Djinn in this book! They were both too rare for my taste as I have come to like them and I look forward to seeing more escapades that include them. I would also like to hear what is happening with Adi's catering business, and I guess everyone would like to see Wade grow his magical talents and fry some rotten Elves! :) Perhaps the Djinn could help a brother out in some way! The portals to the other cities is also a nice touch - can't wait for Wade to invade! :) Thank you Logan Jacobs for a most entertaining series - I cannot wait for the next installment.
Good addition to the series. My only real qualm is that the pic on the cover is clearly ava and she has pointed ears and it clearly says in the book that she has human ears but that is a very small problem and that although the mc is portrayed as very smart he does some dumb things like keep people alive that he knows will stab him in the back. I like the way the harem members are added and it is believable. I wouldn't be surprised if we later find out that part of the keys powers are to attract women or something because he seems to have an unnatural ability to make women fanatical about him. (Or something along the lines that magic power=mental minipulation)
Besides the general idea of the story, I truly enjoy how it's played out thus far.
The characters continue to grow, the story moves forward, and they continue to find and overcome new challenges. The challenges aren't always easy or obvious wins, which makes it exciting. We continue to follow existing characters rather than introduce new and forget the old and I like that.
Loose ends are tied up and the family grows in this excellent entry is the Skullduggery saga.
I would suggest this whole series. My only issue was the books are short. Obviously the nature of the book is adult themed and does pace along quick. It does not include fluff and filler of excessive descriptions that many independent writers are prone to do. I love all the characters but I do feel like the antagonist does not receive attention. I think the book is just something to read if you are tired of the same flavor of what is popular in fantasy main stream.
Wade and his friends have a lot of loose ends to solve between the guild master, Lobrem and Riddel. But they rise to the challenges and it becomes clear that they'll do what ever it takes to come out on top. On top of all the adventure there's seriously steamy hot sex with his women as Wade's harem continues to grow. Read this series you'll have a great time.
Incidentally if there isn't a brand of whiskey called taste of freedom that's a real missed opportunity. But on to the book review, this series is incredible and easily one of my favorites! You are missing out by not reading one of Logan Jacobs many incredible works.
Loved every minute of it. Wade needs to know what his magic really entails..he also needs to figure out the secrets of the catacombs, but I guess that's why there are more books . Get him some more dangerous captains like Penny, Ava and Dar and some strong soldiers..can't wait...
This book felt like more of a closing of an arc more then anything. So while there was no real new plot movement some of there problem where tide up and the board reset a bit with the crew in better position than st the start of things
I'm really enjoying how the story line and characters are progressing. The world and city are fascinating, and with the possibility of exploring other cities around the world, it becomes more intriguing. Looking forward to the next!
Book 6 down can't wait for the next one really like the way this series is going recommend this series to you the reader looking forward too the next evil genius book and soul gem collector hurry up bruv
I'm enjoying the series but the pov chapters were sniffing the mc cock a little too much. While characters died for arbitrary choices they made but the story was still good pace and excited about the next book
Yet another awesome volume of this amazing series! I’m already excited to get the next volume as soon as possible! The kindle and audiobooks are absolutely fantastic, and I want more! Keep up the awesome work Logan Jacobs.
It's amazing to me how many twists Logan Jacob's keeps putting in this series. Although I could stand a little more sex in the following books especially with Wade and Ashlin, and Wade and Twila.😜
Wade and his crew are at a crossroads. Business is booming, and the women in his crew have plans to help him become more powerful. The elven Guildmaster wants him to do a little task for her for the promise of Wade becoming leader of the Thieves’ Guild. A good read.
I enjoyed the story but could honestly do with less graphic sex scenes. They could be more understated and still portray the ideas that matter IMO. Regardless it doesn’t hamper my enjoyment.
A solid installment of the series with a good amount of plot advancement. This is one of best series the author has going. One bit of internal logic conflict but other than that a very good read.
These books just keep getting better and better. Lol. The charcuterie are as good as always and the story just flows perfectly. Hurry with book 7 please.
Good reading. Enjoy all of your writings. I am currently reading several of your books right now and are looking forward to the next chapters of each of them.
