Where the previous entry was based on The Magnificent Seven, this one gives a heavy nod to The Alamo. Blade, with a small army is on the way to Denver, the seat of the dictatorship of The Civilized Zone to overthrow it. But this story mostly centers around the siege of "The Home", the place where Blade and The Family live. 200+ fighters have to defend The Home against 2,000+ fascist troops looking to destroy it.

Heavy, heavy body count on both sides make this another great book in this series. The action comes thick and fast. The soap opera sub plots are held at a minimum. At the end of this book, the author switches gears into another direction, which I hope continues with a bang.

You know, I have been pretty hard on this series that I read and loved when I was young, so I have to give props where props are due.

The end of the initial storyline, this one pulls together, is paced well, has believable action and characterization... It isn't going to win any literary prizes (and it probably wouldn't be nearly as good if you hadn't read the earlier volumes - 7 and 8 feel much less like standalone stories and I really like that.), but I have to say I really liked this one for what it is. Extremely action-packed climax to the initial group of novels in the series.

Well this one is almost like the end of an arc, and in reality the whole series could have wrapped up here, but we do continue and we will see if that is a positive or not.
More ridiculous action sequences, but I am loving how there is a continuity to the series and not everything is resolved in each book, with characters dying and changing and growing and life moving on, hopefully that will stay the same throughout the series.

Another post-apocalyptic adventure series. Quick and easy read. Recommended
