THE GODS ARE FIGHTING.

It’s been two weeks since Jack Shaye claimed the first relic. With it, he has gained the will to fight, the will to hunt, and the will to protect.

However, Jack Shaye didn’t ask for this.

He didn’t want to get sucked into the middle of a deadly game being played by dying Gods. Sure, the idea of living in a world much like the RPGs he grew up with sounds cool, in theory. But that was before he had to go on a DEATH level quest just to return home. If that wasn’t bad enough, the person he grew to trust and who he considered a close friend turned out to be worse his worst enemy.

All he wanted was go by his real-world name, Josh Fell, finish school, move out, and play a bunch of video games. And, if he were feeling up to it, maybe ask out the girl of his dreams.

Now, to protect his friends, Shaye must go at it alone to find the next relic before the other Champions.

He will face old and new enemies alike, traverse a magical labyrinth designed to kill him, solve an ancient quest, and learn a truth long forgotten. All so that he can impress the girl he likes. Go big or go home, right?

Hello! I hope you enjoy my books and will continue to enjoy them for as long as I am able to produce them! So... I hate about me sections, I am terrible talking about myself, but I will give it a try. I am a long time gamer and avid reader, who loves spending countless hours in new and old video games as well as a great book. I've always had a dream to write stories that people can't stop talking about and want to read again and again. I am new to letting others read what I have written but can't wait to share the worlds I create with you all.
I like to spend my days writing, reading, gaming, and exploring the world in search of magic.

I graduated college with a degree in business administration; however, my dream has always been to be an author. I love hearing from fans so please shoot me a message and let's have a conversation!

I received a digital review copy of this from the author through BookSirens. When I was in the Navy, I never understood how fellow sailors would get drunk in a foreign port, and even worse, one where they didn’t speak the language. I get it that Jack/Josh is a 17 year old kid cast into a weird situation (who has a language skill that overcomes the problems of some of those sailors), but he’s also a nerd who, once he realizes what is going on, can appreciate the gravity of that situation. He should be smarter than he is, plot forwarding tropes or not, and wouldn’t be a dumb young sailor. But I would be wrong. And, I keep wondering if the patron god who chose him as his Champion didn’t infuse some of the god’s traits in the transition - no spoilers, but there do seem to be some uncharacteristic emotional extremes. Still, Green hits his stride with the second in his LitRPG series. It’s not without those couple of frustration, but I liked it more than the first book and it is quite fun and entertaining. Looking forward to seeing what happens in the third book.

Definitely enjoyed this book. We get to continue the saga of the protagonist- a gamer sucked into another world where he has to finish first in a challenge that is similar to games he played back on earth. I enjoyed this book more than the first. There were fewer player stat updates and they were formatted better in tables, making them more concise.

The champion we are following gets into his usual challenges as he tries to win the second and third contests within the game. No spoilers here. You’ll have to read it to find out.

There were a few unnecessary plot developments here that I won’t get into but I suspect they will play out as groundwork for future books.

I received this boon for free as a prerelease copy from Book Sirens

I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

In some ways, book 2 was better in than the first as Jack separates from his crew, has some of his own adventures, and begins building his own tribe. At times, it felt as if Jack was older than his years and sometimes it was easy to remember he’s just a teen.

There were a few places where the story lagged but overall, nicely done.

Great reading

This story moves away from the usual group but is better for it as Jack explores more of the world and tries out new things. Story has grown with the character and this helps the readers enjoyment a lot as it flows better whilst still giving us plenty to think about.

Second book better than the first! New love, new friendships, many battles, lifetime enemies, and fast paced action make for a very good read. Can’t wait to find out what happens in book three! I really liked the storyline, game mechanics, the characters and Shawn's writing style. Great LitRPG story. A cliffhanger ending, but hey, it's a series right? Just means I need to find book three sooner than later. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am happily leaving this review voluntarily.

Excellent LitRPG book. Fantastic characters with a really good plot. Tons of action between characters and their quest. Well written and keeps your attention. It doesn't go overboard on the items list as some do. No graphic sexual content but does have violence. I recommend it for early teens and up. Still having fun

Not quite as much fun as the first. Got to meet some new characters and continued the McGuffin (relic) hunt. A good read and nice balance on how many stats to show.
