Life in a small town has its positives and its negatives. One positive is that everyone knows everyone and everyone’s business. One negative is that everyone knows everyone and everyone’s business. And the small town of Liberty, Utah is no different.
For the Wiley family, life under the microscopic watch of the community was always a challenge. Jack and Madison, children of the notorious Wiley family knew that they were watched more carefully than their peers, not because they were evil or bad, but because of their parents. The reality of most of Jack and Madison’s childhood had required them to deal with the consequences of their parents’ addictions. Jack, the elder of the two children, did whatever was necessary—even stealing—to feed and provide for the needs of his sister when his parents used the family’s meager funds to support their own destructive addictions. Dad’s solution to fund his own habits was to sell drugs to support his own habits. Their mom was not much better as a parent with own her drinking and personal drama. As far as the town of Liberty was concerned, if an object went missing, if vandalism occurred, if anything untoward occurred, a Wiley was probably involved. Rather than offering help and comfort, all Liberty offered the Wiley family was judgement. And, as time passed, following the example of his father, Jack fell in with a bad group of friends. When a liquor store was robbed and the attendant killed, although Jack was not an active participant, his bad judgement led him to be with the wrong person, at the wrong time in the wrong place and jail time was the result for his bad judgement in associates. So, when Madison turned 18, she escaped to LA as soon as she could, where she found a job to support herself, enrolled in college, and lived month to month in rental apartments with strangers. And Jack spent his time in prison for his bad judgement as an adolescent. And,when he was released just as his father’s bad choices, deals and acquaintances resulted in a suicide that looked suspiciously like murder, Jack was arrested as a suspect.
Now, Jack is out, proven irrefutably innocent of his father’s murder/suicide, but the community will not forgive or forget—they are waiting for Jack’s next misdeed. Jack is trying to pick up whatever carpentry jobs he can find, but not many of the fine citizens of Liberty are ready to give him a second chance. Also, Jack is secretly seeking to bring down the drug connected associates whom he believes were responsible for his father’s murder—not his suicide. But, if undercover life is not enough to complicate a complicated life, Jack learns that Cassie Lorenzo, 3rd year law student and his Madison’s best friend who had returned to Liberty at his sister’s request to legally advise Jack, was back and obviously pregnant. It seems that the one-time sexual encounter of Jack and Cassie had consequences!
Cassie Lorenzo’s family was the polar opposite of the family of her best friend Madison and Madison’s older brother, Jack. Cassie’s family had enjoyed the largess that resulted from her father’s successful law practice—vacations and vacation homes, college for Cassie and her sister, and for Cassie, law school. But no family is perfect. While the family had never been without the physical benefits of their family’s success, wealth did not equate to love and affirmation—to emotional support; those qualities were in short supply in the Lorenzo family. And when Cassie’s dad suffers a heart attack and she comes home for the first time in over eight months, her pregnancy cannot be denied or ignored. And, while everyone thinks the father is a guy she met in law school, Cassie shares with her best friend and Jack’s sister, Madison, that she is about to become an aunt! But, will Cassie be able to let Jack know that he is about to become a dad and will he even care?
KC Crowne is a writer for the individual seeking a reading experience that engages the heart and head with jolts of adrenalin produced by the twists and turns of the plot. She delivers engaging characters experiencing life’s challenges. A tenderly passionate romance, the story is structured with a strong and realistic storyline woven with emotional tension. And, most powerfully expressed are themes of love, family, sacrifice and the ability of the heart to love without bounds.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review ARCS, but I enjoyed the reading experience so much that I bought a copy for my "read-again" titles.
Jack and Madison Wiley were always judged by the sins of their parents. Their father had a drug problem and often sold it to use it. Their mother was more of the town drunk variety. So it fell on Jack to make sure he and his sister Madison went to school, had clean clothes, and had food to eat. And sometimes when things were extremely tough he had to resort to stealing things, so they could eat. If things went missing, any destruction of property happened in town, anything inappropriate happened it was the Wileys’s Instead of offering assistance and comfort, all Liberty showed the Wiley family was judgment.
Jack was hanging with the wrong crowd and when they robbed a liquor store and the attendant was killed. He was not an active participant, so his bad judgment led to him serving jail time. No sooner does he get out than he is picked up again for the murder of his father. However, those were all due to his father’s bad choices, deals, and acquaintances which resulted in a suicide that looked a lot like murder, and Jack was arrested as a suspect. Jack is released, proven indeed innocent of his father’s murder/suicide, but the community will not forgive or forget—they are waiting for Jack’s next misdeed.
Jack is trying to work at whatever carpentry jobs he can find, but not many of the fine residents of Liberty are ready to forget. Not only that to forgive him or give him a second chance for something he did as a minor. And he was proven to have done nothing to his father. Also, Jack is secretly seeking to bring down the drug-dealers working in association. The ones whom he believes were responsible for his father’s murder—not his suicide he wants the head of the snake. As if life wasn’t crazy enough, Jack learns that Cassie Lorenzo, 3rd year law student and Madison’s best friend who has returned to Liberty. This was at his sister’s request to legally advise Jack.
She was back in town and pregnant. It seems that the one-time sexual encounter of Jack and Cassie had significance! His reaction had bad repercussions causing a boomerang effect. Except he had to make it clear to her that he wanted her and the baby but no one could know. Because it was too dangerous for her and the baby. But when her father pisses her off by telling her, a twenty-five-year-old woman she is forbidden to see her baby daddy while under his roof she said, “Fine. She would be moving out the next morning.
He said he was pulling all financial support from her including her last year of law school.” But then the town knew putting her in danger. Her father felt like a part of the problem. This was such a good book. A lot of action but a love story, too.
Jack and Cassie's Road to Love and Family Is Full of Ruts and Pitfalls🔥❤👣❤🔥
Welcome back to Liberty where everyone knows your business..or they think they do...and don't let you forget it. This is Jack's story and things are not as they seem. Jack is Madison's older brother, tall, brooding, tattooed and even been to prison. To be fair, he has a heart of gold and is protective of those he loves, to the point of taking punishment for something he didn't do. While some think he's a hero for taking down the bad guys he's still Wiley trash to many others and things are not looking up for him. Cassie is Madison's best friend that got out of Liberty to study law in Philadelphia and hasn't been home in a year, except for that little jaunt to help Jack...oh about eight months ago. Jack is working on taking the down the head of the illegal ring that escaped justice so he and his family can finally be free. There's just one thing he never expected...he's going to be a dad!!! Hating to deny the baby Cassie is carrying is his is the only way to keep them safe and that even turns to carp when Cassie has the baby early. Double crossing thugs, strangers following him, a new baby and the woman he loves just out of reach...just how much more can Jack take??? Unexpected help arrives in the form of not one, not two but four brothers he knew nothing about. Just how the hell this all works out...You just have to get this MUST READ and join Jack, Cassie and the close knit family and friends on this harrowing journey to freedom and love!!! It was exciting to visit Madison and Teddy to see how they are fairing but now there are four more possible journeys to come in Samuel, Mason, Elijah and Graham!!!! Who will be first??? Woohoo I can't wait!!! I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book via Booksprout and purchased a copy for my favorites collection.
This book literally kept me on the edge of my seat, a seat I did not get up from until I read the last word. Jack and Cassie were meant for each other, and I loved the fact that once reunited and they had a chance to talk things out, their real feelings for each other resurfaced, spending the remainder of the book working together to clear Jack's name and protect their son. Jack and his sister, Madison, Cassie's best friend, had a bad reputation in town because of their father's affiliation and work with a high powered criminal. Cassie, pursuing a law degree, had tried to help Jack when his father got killed as Jack was accused of being involved with the same work as his father. He was eventually found innocent, but not before He and Cassie hooked up and she got pregnant. Not all of the criminals that killed his father were caught, however, and Jack took it upon himself to try and infiltrate the criminal organization and get enough proof to get the top criminal behind bars too. I won't go into any more detail from here and suggest you pick up the book and read where it goes from here. I will say it will keep you in suspense and rooting for Jack and Cassie to be able to reach their HEA. There is a surprising twist toward the end that I didn't see coming and which added a whole new dimension to the story. My recommendation? Snatch this baby up yourself and get ready to get immersed in a great story that will give you love, hate, suspense, bad guys, good guys, and an adorable baby named Owen. You won't regret it.

This book is closely related to the previous book Taboo Mountain Daddy with Madison. Cassie is the best friend of Madison and before the book starts she had a one night stand with Madison's brother Jack. This makes it seem like the book is starting partway through the story. Madison is home Liberty because her day had a heart attack and she needs her parents help. The one night made her pregnant with Jack's baby but she hasn't told anyone who is the father. She runs into Jack at the grocery story and informs him that she is carrying his child. Jack seems happy and shocked at first but then asks her not to let anyone know he is the dad. Jack grew up with a bad dad who ran errands for the mob. Jack has been pulled into the violence but is trying hard to escape. A lot of the bad guys were caught in the previous book but the leader was still at loose. Jack knows neither he or Cassie and their baby will be safe until he can trap the head honcho. Jack loves Cassie and his baby but he really wants them out of the way and safe so he refuses to acknowledge his son. Cassie is confused by the mixed messages that Jack is giving her. She just wants to be a family but Jack keeps pushing her away without explanation. Her dad finds out about Jack being the father and forces Cassie to choose between her family and Jack. This is a great story with lots of twists and action. I voluntarily received a copy of this story in return for an honest review. I think this story would be much better if the series was read in order.
I received this book with the understanding that I could leave a voluntary and honest review.
In this book we get Jack Wiley's story and are introduced to Cassie Lorenzo. We met Jack in Taboo Mountain Daddy he is the brother of Madison. Jack went to prison for a murder he didn't commit. He knows this and knows that Cassie could have cleared him but didn't want to drag her into the mess that his father left him and his sister. He is determined to protect both women, especially when he learns the last time he saw Cassie he got her pregnant with their child. No matter how much he wants to be there to support her and the baby he knows he has to get rid of the danger before they can ever have a life together. Cassie had no plans on coming back to this small town especially after Jack wouldn't even talk to her after their time together. Being pregnant though has made it tough to be on her own and she knows there is no way she will be able to finish law school with a baby. Will these two find a way to get to that HEA they both want or will the danger Jack is trying to protect them all from going to take them first?
This is another hit out of the park by this author. It does have its ups and downs I really want to tell you about. However I don't want to ruin the story for any other readers. I will say this book will have you on the edge of your seat from the first word to the very end. I would highly recommend it to anyone and everyone.
ONE HARD, HOT AND HEAVY TREAT!!! Holy hot sauce! Crowne brought it with this thrillingly composed approach, spinning one impressive storyline and gripping plot, with such intensity and precision, wrapping this jewel up sleek, shiny and tight. A tumultuous wild ride of unsettling circumstances and startling mishaps, propels those churning emotions into play, blasting this little gem into a tailspin with an life-altering culmination. Revealing the drama, tension, intrigue, danger, mounting suspense and nerve racking situations along with a boatload of trouble while dodging disaster, you have one block busting adventure. A multitude of intimidating trials and challenging tribulations noting the compelling twists and wicked turns testing our characters in ways they could have never anticipated. The attraction and chemistry sizzles from the pages, white hot and explosive, until you feel the electrifying hum, running rampant through your veins. The characters, banter, interactions, charged atmosphere along with relatable qualities and individual traits, blend and flow, transforming into genuine charismatic personalities. The scenes are written with such realism, impressive passion, imagination and unique insight, blasts this sparkling jewel wide open, making the storyline pop. Amazing job Crowne, thanks for sharing this treasure with us.
This was a roller coaster ride of a story. Cassie's home because she's pregnant but refuses to name the father, especially to her parents who hate him. Jack's home too but he's secretive, moving in the shadows, deflecting instead of speaking plainly. And while Jack wants nothing more than to claim Cassie and their baby as his, what he's working towards won't let him.
There's too much at stake, too much to lose if he does that.
So he waits and asks Cassie to do the same too, all while promising everything will be all right.
This was more suspenseful than I thought it'd be. It built steadily throughout the story, and the ending didn't disappoint. There was so much going on, so much to work through, so much to overcome, and one gut-wrenching moment when the entire book world stopped and seemed to scream, "NO!!!"
But everything worked out in the end. Lives were restored. Love grew stronger. Families were brought back together. If you're in the mood for instalove but need just a little something more, this is the story for you. It's so well-written with characters you will like/love or are unsure of/hate from the very beginning. Hang in there. The story is worth all the angst.

With all the jumping back and forward at the end of each books even the author got confused.when Madison came back for her dad's funeral ( see book before this one) she was there a week or so a month at the most and had sex with teddy getting pregnant she called her friend cassie to help with jack . that's when cassie had sex for the first time ever with jack and fled getting pregnant but not finding out until she left meaning both girls got pregnant around the same time a month apart at the most.this book starts with the return of cassie at 8 months pregnant meaning Madison should of only just given birth to zoey but no she is 9 months old??? How??? Timelines are so wrong on this one.I like the new people to the town as we have forgotten all about the others and they are not talked about often but that good because we already know there futures which makes it confusing is the dinner lady pregnant with 3 or is it after? I was asking myself trying to work it out? This is the first book where I feel like I need to take notes.the 2 star rating is because of the mistakes and baby snatching already played out with caleb.all these books theme around having a older guy or raising some one elses kid.
This is a ARC book, by KC Crowne and it features JACK and CASSIE. Its about young woman, Cassie, who in her last year of law school, tried to help her best friends, brother, Jack out of trouble, that her parents hated, spend the night with him and found herself pregnant a few weeks later. Now 8 months later Cassie is home to help her mother and sister to care for their father, after he had a heart attack and that is when her family found out Jack is the father. Jack grow up poor, with parents who where addict and his father also worked for the mob, was killed and Jack started working for them, in hope of bring the big boss down. After finding out who the big boss is, Jack is in more danger then ever, since the big boss is a very powerful politician and is heading to the white White House and is now after Jack's entire family, even Cassie and his baby. But when a secret comes out it might be enough to save Jack's whole family. This is a very emotional and very intense story and all I can say is "WOW JUST WOW," a must read book. I am volunteering to leave a ARC review of this book.
We are back in Liberty for another Mountain Man story. Cassie and Jack have a lot of unfinished business. Their one night together has changed their lives forever. Cassie’s parents are not fond of Jack at ALL (honestly I can’t stand her Dad). Jack has a whole lot of drama and complications in his life. Can Cassie and Jack find their way together or will life tear them apart? Cassie and Jack are sweet together and have great chemistry. The story has this whole Romeo and Juliet vibe going on. I’ll be honest, this wasn’t my favorite book from K.C. There was too much “Do you trust me?” “It’s safer if you don’t know” “I have to do this on my own” Seems like a ton of the trouble could be saved if there was less secrets, less Lone Ranger plans and way more communication. I know that’s supposed to add to the mysterious drama feel of the plot, but it kind of made the story drag on. There could have been more storyline between Cassie and Jack’s actual relationship, it was mostly crying, not talking, sex, leaving, more crying, etc. Still an enjoyable read, but I’ve read better from the author.

Cassie is back in Liberty and she has a secret and the one person she runs into the one person she doesn't want to see is the reason she has a secret Jack. Cassie doesn't plane to stay just help her family out while her father gets better but now trouble just wandered back into her life her best friends brother he's been accused of murder sure he didn't do it but the whole town is against him his family has a sordid past a criminal father and a mother with her own problems. But Cassie can't walk away now but when Jack tells her to keep quiet about there secret she doesn't know what to do something is going on and it's probably dangerous.
Jack I saved my sister walked away without telling Cassie anything but now she's back I missed her I have to protect her and our child but I'm involved with some dangerous people if they find out everyone is in danger all I wanted was to bring a crooked man down but now he's out for blood I'll need alot of help to save my family Jack will also find out some more secrets about his family. This book had plenty of suspense heat and allot of danger.
I was allowed to receive and advance copy of this book via Booksprout and this is my honest review
A great book with characters that have appeared in at least one prior book but whom we do not get to know much about. Jack has been maligned all of his life due to no fault of his own despite the circumstances of how he had been raised by his alcoholic mother and mafia father. He is struggling to change that preconceived perception of him and is working to bring down the kingpin of the mafia who is a powerful politician. Cassie is the best friend of his sister and has almost finished law school. She had helped him out of a sticky situation about a year earlier that had a night of passion which culminated in a pregnancy that Jack knew nothing about. They meet again when Cassie is eight months pregnant and Jack realizes that the baby must be his. He quickly assumes responsibility for her becoming pregnant but that puts her now also in the crosshairs of the powerful man Jack is trying to take down! Lots of tension, danger, and gut-wrenching emotion ensues before Jack and Cassie are able to get to their HEA!! Another keeper!!

What could be worse than having a one night fling with your best friends brother? Getting Knocked up? Running into him in town? Or getting into the middle of a mess that could get you killed? Why not check all of the above. For Cassie it all comes to a head in the middle of the grocery store knocking over groceries with her 8 month belly! Jack is instantly floored when he runs into Cassie, even more so when he realizes that she is carrying his baby. He is thrilled but then remembers the danger that surrounds him and knows that he cant take the risk of having them close to him. But staying away just doesn't seem to be in the cards for them. Cassie won me over when she stood up to her bully of a dad without a second thought. She is ready to stand by Jack as the father of her baby, whether or not they are a real family. There is so much standing in their way. Not withstanding the actually guns, kidnapping etc that lays in wait. I really hope we see Jacks brothers in books to come. I enjoyed this book so much, I couldn't put it down and finished it in a few hours!

Jack has always been protective of those he loves. This began when he was younger and had to protect and provide for his sister , Maddison, as both his parents were not in the picture too busy with their drugs or alcohol issues. Jack and Madison were used to the town folk judging them and blaming them of any wrong doings that happened in town. Now all Jack wants to do is find the people determined to ruin his and Maddison's life so that he can bring them to justice and finally be free of their influence. He turned o Cassie. Madison's best friend who left town and became a lawyers. Cassie returned briefly to help Jack and ended up with a surprise baby. Now Jack is determined to protect his baby, Cassie and Madison and will do anything he can to keep them safe. There are so many twists and turns even finding some unknown brothers are thrown in the mix. Fantastic book, loved it.

This was a really enjoyable small town story in which Cassie had returned home after her father had a health scare, and also because she’s in her last few weeks of pregnancy. Studying law in Philadelphia has bought her some time, nobody knows who’s the baby’s father, including the father, until she comes face to face with her in the grocery story. Some quick maths on his part makes him soon realise, but things aren’t that simple. As much as he wants to be with Cassie and raise their child together, Jack is embroiled in trying to bring down a criminal network that run so deep, he can’t put his trust in anyone. Determined to do tie right thing, save his family and get to be a family, Jack receives some unexpected help that gives him safety in numbers. This was a really interesting and entertaining, with all sorts of different characters and shenanigans to keep your turning the pages. Superb.

Cassie and Jack's story was about the bad boy and the good girl from the other side of the tracks. Cassie was best friends with Jack's sister Madison. So Cassie always had a crush on Madison's older brother. She saw how he took care of his sister. Making sure she had whatever she needed. Their parents were on drugs and drink. Cassie need that Jack had a heart of gold and would do anything to take care of his sister. Even go to jail. Jack and Cassie had a one night stand with her getting pregnant. But Jack's past had very powerful and dangerous people in it. After finding out about the baby. Jack knew he had to get evidence to get the head guy. If his new family would ever be safe. Jack learns about a secret his mom never told him. He will have help from a strange place. Be ready for a wild ride that twist and turns. I can't wait for the next book.
Hold On Tight... Its Gonna Be A Bumpy Ride... by and1515
The last person Cassie wanted to see at the moment was Jack but there he was and now he was starring at her. She'd only came back because her father had been ill and her mother and sister needed the help. Jack had been willing to deep six his life to protect his sister. He'd been surprised to see Cassie she'd left with out saying a single word now his world just took another unforeseen turn. Cassie was in a snit and perturbed by his less than stellar but predictable response she didn't care anymore he could do what ever he wanted. Jack wasn't shocked by the response he got when he tried to see Cassie her father could say what ever he wanted about him but never about his sister. Cassie was never a one and done girl she was his sister's friend however he was sorry she thought that. Jack had to get all his ducks in a row he'd probably only gonna get one bite at the big apple and he needed to make it count. Now Jack was many things but a fool isn't one of them and he sure as hell wasn't gonna keep his baby mamma waiting. Jack had been left holding the proverbial bag and now he had a mess the size of Mount Vesuvius to clean up before it blew up in his face, so if the last thing he did Jack was going to keep those who mattered the most safe.

I absolutely loved this book, it's jam packed with drama, action and intrigue. We have met Jack in a previous book in the Mountain Men of Liberty series, this can be read as a standalone story but I suggest reading the previous books first just because they're also awesome. Jack has just learnt he's going to be a daddy in the next month but he has some dangerous issues going on at the moment and he can't let Cassie and the baby get hurt. He hope that by staying away they will be under the radar and stay safe. Well... that's not to be. I won't give the story away, it's well-written and fast-paced, plenty of chemistry between Jack and Cassie. The secondary characters are incredibly likable, intriguing storyline that kept my interest. Highly entertaining.
Cassie and Jack have a lot on their plates! Their one single night spent together has resulted in a pregnancy. Cassie’s parents do not like Jack because of his bad background. He had been sent to prison for something he didn’t do just because of his family connections. But Cassie comes home to help care for her father and Jack sees the result of their night together. Their chemistry is still sizzling, and Jack refuses to walk away from his child. He wants to keep them safe, but he is trying to clear his name and it will put them in danger. Can the two of them find happiness when their lives are so complicated?
This was a good story with likable characters (on the good-guy list). Jack was trying so hard to do the right thing, but it was certainly complicated and dangerous. Grab your copy and see what’s going on – is there a solution to their predicament?
This is not a cute little mountain man story with a hunky older guy, a snowstorm, a flat tire, and a curvy younger woman. Nope. This is a quite suspenseful book. Yes, there's romance - Jack, the white trash guy who'll never be good enough for Cassie's family, and Cassie, the almost-lawyer who just had Jack's baby, are trying to be a couple. Yes, there's a new family - apparently someone's mother got together with someone else's father, and we have four new brothers. There's also a very crooked politician, goons with guns, lots of bribery money exchanging hands, a kidnapping, families on the run, and on-the-edge-of-my-seat suspense. This is my first read in this series, and I recently started reading this author's books. I really enjoyed this book.

Jack had always been hated by the town of Liberty because of who his dad was. Cassie was the daughter of the town. Her parents didn't like Jack. They hooked up one night when Cassie came to town to help Jack with some legal issues. Cassie had always had a crush on Jack but didn't think he felt the same. She left town after the hooknup and discoverea she was pregnant. She returned to town to discover Jack was into something that was dangerous. When he found out she was pregnant with his son he feared for her life. Will they survive? Will they end up together? And who are the mysterious men who have been asking around town about Jack? Great addition to the mountain man series. Not to mention can't wait for the next books to come out...possibly the mysterious men in town?

Jack and Cassie had a one night stand and eight months later they run into each other at the grocery store. That is how Jack learns he is about to be a father. Cassie's family thought Jack and his family were trash. Jack was trying to catch the man who was responsible for his father's death and was trying to keep a low profile. He feared if it was known he had a girlfriend and a son that they would be in danger. The info about his son got out putting Cassie and Owen in danger. The head man set a trap for Jack but his brothers who he knew nothing about manage to save him. There is many tense moments after that as they were all chased and the baby was kidnapped with a big shootout near the end. It was an interesting story with many facets that kept the readers attention to the very end.
What an awesome story. It's full of action, suspense and a whole lot of twists and turns. Cassie returns to her home town after her dad has a heart attack. A quick trip to the grocery store has her running into the one person she hoped to avoid. Jack is surprised to see Cassie. She had left town without a word. He's also surprised that she's pregnant. When Cassie says it's his, he responds with "No one can know about this, you hear me?” That was not the response she expected. Jack is involved with some shady characters. He will do anything to protect Cassie and their child. Will Jack be able to protect them once his boss finds out about them? You have to read this, I couldn't put it down.
