Imogen and her family are in hiding on Earth. It is only a matter of time before they are hunted down by the dark forces of the corrupt Holan regime.
Imogen has stolen Kekara’s sacred stone, but can she uncover the shocking secret it hides? Or learn the truth behind the powerful Tractus technology, capable of jumping a person through space and time?
The future of both her own people and the human race is at stake.
With Araz and Naomi held prisoner on Holis, Imogen must uncover the terrible secrets alone and decide if her destiny lies on Earth or Holis.
Becky Fleetwood lives in the Northwest UK with her engineering hubby. Her love of writing started when she won a large quantity of chocolate in a Cadbury's writing competition, at the age of 8. At the age of 20, she fell in love with Anne McCaffrey's "Dragonflight" series, in particular the female heroine, Lessa. Since then, she has burned with an ambition to write a novel with a similar female protagonist - someone who was strong, analytical and did not see the world in black and white. It is from this that Chroma was born, and B Fleetwood completed the trilogy: Imogen's Secret / Imogen's Journey and Imogen's Destiny in 2020. During lockdown she turned her hand to a new genre - a commercial women's fiction. Upbeat and inspired by her real life amateur dance group, Dancing Fools and All That Jazz will be published on 28th July 2025.
I couldn't put it down! I’ve been eager to discover how Imogen’s extraordinary story concludes and binge-read this book in a couple of days. Suffice to say it doesn’t disappoint! B Fleetwood cleverly wove enough background and reminders in the first few pages to get me back up to speed without being at all laboured about it. I was right back in Imogen’s world and heavily invested in her situation from the get-go. But, if you haven’t read the first two books in this trilogy I would certainly recommend that you do so. The writing is pacey and the plot moves along at a lick but not at the expense of the characters, who are well-developed. I really enjoyed the deeper exploration of the Zuberi brothers in this book. Em, the resistance activist with the Eastern European idiom, really made me smile. The world-building in this series is remarkable. B Fleetwood’s imagination is cinematic. Holis is so vividly described and believable and - in these uncertain days on earth - really appealing. Like Imogen, I was totally invested in its survival. The Chroma books have young people as their main protagonists but I would not say they appeal only to young people. The themes of the books are universal, challenging our world-view whatever age we are. There is science fiction here but there is also science. The books are fantasy but they illuminate real life too. They are perfect for today because they are asking the questions we are all asking right now: what kind of world do we want to live in? What’s really important? How can we work with our environment rather than against it? What is the role of government and what is our own responsibility? If I had teenage children I’d want to read these books alongside them so that we could discuss the issues they raise.
I’ve been eager to read “Imogen’s Destiny” since finishing the second part of the Chroma trilogy by B Fleetwood last year. The first two books left me wanting to know more about the Chroma saga and “Imogen’s Destiny” brings the story to a fitting climax.
Imogen is a girl from another world who has special talents, she can see and read people’s Chroma, the colours which surround them and tell of their moods, feelings and even if they are lying. She was brought to earth to escape the threats in her own world but went back and challenged the evil and corrupt authority of the Supreme Council and its Leaders and eventually bringing harmony to her home plant. The story seamlessly mixes the imaginative sci-fi of being able to transport between planets, with corrupt and ruthless power hungry leaders and even a bit of ancient Eygptian history.
It is exciting, fast paced and written in a way that draws you into the whole story of Imogen’s homeland of Holus. Its characters are realistic and its descriptive writing brings the people and places to life. The action is realistic and the sub plots and political posturing add intrigue.
A great read and heartily recommended. Five Stars!
Can I begin by saying that I rarely find myself satisfied, or in fact remotely happy, with the end of a series. However, this surpassed all of my expectations! Fleetwood has crafted another page-turning, and sadly final, instalment of the Imogen series.
Without giving away any spoilers, two moments have really stayed with me; one unexpected but oh-so clever and goosebump-inducing and the other I sobbed my way through. From the first chapter I was hooked and once again couldn’t put it down towards the end as I desperately rooted for my favourite characters (Imogen, Araz, Em and Leo).
As a teacher of English I would recommend this to my students in a heartbeat - it’s rare to find such a gripping plot and likeable characters combined with a rich tapestry of language and a completely unique concept!
On a final note - I have loved following Imogen on her journey in this original and compelling story of identity, love and friendship and I will be sorry to say goodbye!
What a brilliant trilogy, I eagerly jumped at the chance to read the last book and loved it!
It took me a while to get back to where they were at the end of the last book but once I did the pace just kept building and I never quite knew where the storyline was going to take me next.
I loved the characters throughout these books and how we got to know more about Imogen and her family and friends. The more I read the more the differences in life on Earth compared to how they live on her home planet were explained.
This book totally captured me and I became keen to see what the future held for Imogen. I found the second half of this book really ramped up the pace and I just had to keep reading to see if they could reach their end goal and build the support they needed to help them achieve it and who would be left standing as I neared the end.
A brilliant trilogy and one I will be purchasing in paperback for my daughter as she will love it!!
The final book in this excellent Young Adult series brings all the problems of the earlier books to a head. There are hard choices to be made and only one way to go – no going back. This series doesn’t gloss over death, abuse of power and the need to do the right thing, whatever the consequences. It’s a morality tale, of sorts, and a really good read. As with book 2, the fact that many characters had two names, an Earth name and a Holan one, made for confusion in this old reader. By the end I wasn't sure of the relationship between some of the characters. This, for me, has been the only downside of these books. I recommended them for young and old – old with a pen and notebook, maybe! Great imagination.
Recap: Imogen must go back to her home planet to try and save her friends, family and Earth.
Review: They had a plan, then they were foiled. They had another plan, then they were foiled. Throw in a couple of major character deaths before you're even three-quarters of the way and it looks bleak for our heroine. And that's great! We don't want to 'know' that we're going to have a happy ending, we want to suffer and despair with our characters. There were a few places of 'convenient' dialogue which jarred an otherwise good flowing book. Kudos to the use of LOTR in rallying speech. And I really liked how Naomi's tractus travels affected the whole plot of the trilogy, really well thought out story arc providing lots of ohhhhhh moments.

A slow start to the book and it took me a while to remember the characters again. This was 'n very good ending to this trilogy, I loved all the twists as well as the Egyptian part of the book. During the last part of the book you have to keep your wits about as lots of things happen simultaneously with lots of different people. I really love reading about Imogen from the start as well as how she grew as a character, if was difficult to remember that she is only 17. I would recommend this book and trilogy to all lovers of fantasy.
I have been waiting with much anticipation for the final part of the Chroma trilogy. I enjoyed the first two books, but this one was outstanding - a real page turner! The fast paced narrative kept me wanting to read just one more chapter before I put the light out. It kept me entertained and on an emotional rollercoaster to the very end. Although I was disappointed that this wonderful trilogy had reached a conclusion, the final dėnouement fulfilled all of my hopes and expectations. I thoroughly recommend this book.
I received a copy of this book from The Book Club Reviewers Request- Thank you This is the third book in the series and in my opinion the best (the previous 2 books are very good) but this book was just something else. Exceptionally well written, the story was fast paced but unlike a lot of other series Imogen's story has been nicely ended the author has completed the series An excellent series
The most exciting conclusion that could have been written to complete this triology. Imogen’s Destiny takes you through the Tractus and jumps you, along with the characters, between Earth and Holis. All the pieces come together in a complex but well planned out jigsaw. I felt genuine tension wondering just how (or if) the unraveling of life on Holis would be stopped and order restored. A gripping read all round.
I got this as a arc e book for my i pad from a facebook page that I am a member of I enjoyed reading it. It had a good story to it. I liked also the previous two books in this series. I hope to read more books by this author.
What an end to the trilogy and it certainly kept you guessing until the end! Action packed & vivid descriptions throughout. There is a lot going on & I did have to check who was who having had several months since reading book 2. In my opinion the story kept you interested throughout the 3 books, for me 2 & 3 much better than book 1, yet I enjoyed book 1 when I read it! I think this trilogy keeps you captivated & im sure teenagers will enjoy. The writer has an amazing imagination. I want a transporter😀
In the final installment of the Chroma trilogy 'Imogen and her family are in hiding on Earth. It is only a matter of time before they are hunted down by the dark forces of the corrupt Holan regime'. It took me a bit of time to get caught up again with the story as it's been a while since I finished the second part, but there was just enough detail and recap in the book. The book is full of action - almost from the start, and concluded the story well. A great end to the trilogy.

This is the third and final installment in the Chroma series and I must say, my favorite although I enjoyed them all very much. The author deftly brings the reader up to speed early on and then takes us on a fast-paced, never-dull ride full of twists and turns. The prose is smooth and very descriptive. I could see, in my mind's eye, the world of Holis. The ending to this fantastic trilogy is extremely gratifying. Although the main characters are young people, this is a story for all ages and one I highly recommend to anyone who loves to read.
Wow, another compelling read in the Chroma trilogy? Imogen’s Destiny by B. Fleetwood is a captivating and delicious read. What I loved most was that Imagen, even with her super abilities, remains human (Holan) and does not become a superhero.
B. Fleetwood creates wonderful images with vivid descriptions and her characters are complex with doubts and misgivings. I hope that she will soon write more.
If you are a lover of YA or Sci-Fi books, I recommend this Chroma: Imogen’s Destiny and the entire series
Well here it is! The final book of the Chroma Trilogy. The print book and the kindle version will be published on 20th May 2020.
Very grateful to Jonathan Moseley for the super covers.
I feel a little sad to have completed Imogen's story but also very satisfied as the trilogy has launched me into the world of writing and I don't intend stopping now!
