Waterlogged: Part 1 - Ripple

Sirens only mate once... and it's a matter of life and death.

• • •

Sirens were created then cast aside by one man, a name that's a curse in Iridessa's world. He made them ugly, useless, unable to care for themselves. But they adapted.

And they conquered.

Men are on the menu for Iridessa's pod, those they don't mark for mating with the pearls embedded in their hips. You see, sirens only mate once in their lifetime, and once they choose a mate, they must wait until his body is ready for hers--and kill him.

Iridessa has finally marked her mate, a strikingly pale male with white hair. But when she finally finds him, he's not at all like what her pod told her men were like. Men are supposed to be rough and callous and treat women like filth, but Elijah...

He's the most gentle person she's ever met.

After striking a deal with the young Prince Elijah, Iridessa knows she'll be in hot water if her pod finds out, but it isn't long until their hearts start to beat as one. She can't--she won't spill his blood.

Not killing a man after mating is punishable by death.

The clock is ticking.

And death is just around the corner.

This is the first part of four for K. Weikel's upcoming novel Waterlogged.

This was really fun. We're following Iridessa, a siren, as she struggles to fulfill her duty and kill a man. This story reads as a bit of a fairytale. We have the prince, we have the forbidden love, and we have the beautiful cover. It's shaping itself into a promising story and I'm looking forward to part two!

I've officially finished editing Waterlogged! Check it out and preorder it. This is part 1 or 4, and I'm so excited for y'all to read it. I love Iridessa and Elijah, and I loved writing their growing relationship. So much so, the entire story ended up being over 200k words.

I poured my heart and soul into this story, and I hope you pick it up and love it as much as I did writing it!

Ripple is Book 1 in the Waterlogged Series by K Weikel. I thought that this fantasy was very interesting and different. Normally Sirens are evil females singing men to their death. I believe that this fits the Siren pod, but not really young Iridessa. I can't wait to continue this series. The author was masterful in closing the story while leaving several questions unanswered. I received an arc for free and am leaving my review voluntarily.

First of all, what a beautiful cover! I was immediately drawn to the book because of it. I think it perfectly captured the essence of the story. It was eerie, mysterious and haunting in a way that was subtle but refreshing. I enjoyed the characters' interactions, the romance and the story. I can't wait to continue the series I need more!
