Overall Opinion: I was enjoying it until probably the last 1/3 of the book. Their conflicts were just plain stupid, and with some actual communication it all could've all been avoided! I also had big issues with the pacing (see below pace section), and the H being a jerk. Tbh writing up this review makes me wonder why I kept going! I probably should've added it to my dnf shelf once things went downhill, but I stuck with it. There were a few sweet interactions with the h and the H's daughter, and maybe I was waiting out for more of that! The daughter was the best part of the story and she had a really minimal role!!
Brief Summary of the Storyline: This is Serena and Derek's story. Derek has been assigned as a lawyer to be responsible for Serena's finances. Serena has had a series of bad events that have made her look mentally unstable, and she is an heiress to a large fortune that her (evil) step-mother is trying to protect. After some sparks fly from a mutual attraction, Derek soon finds out that things are not what they seem. He feels a strong need to help Serena out of her predicament, and he does. There are some sweet moments with Derek's daughter, some sexy times, some family and friend drama...and they get a HEA ending.
POV: This alternated between Serena and Derek's POV.
Overall Pace of Story: Good until the end. I never skimmed, and I thought it flowed well. BUT! Yet again! An author has the couple resolving a conflict (and separation) at the END of the last chapter and then does a jump ahead epilogue with a HEA. I need to see them as an actual couple!!!! We never do!
Instalove: Not really. They developed feelings pretty fast, but it didn't seem like the stereotypical instalove.
H rating: 3 stars. Derek. I really liked his interactions with his daughter. He was kind of a jerk otherwise.
h rating: 3 stars. Serena. I liked her until her martyr act towards the end. So frustrating!
Sadness level: Low. No tissues necessary.

Inhalt: „Rixton Falls – Rules“ von Winter Renshaw ist der zweite Band der „Wall-Street-Journal“-Trilogie. Das Buch ist am 26.02.2021 bei Lyx erschienen. Man kann die Bücher theoretisch unabhängig voneinander lesen. Allerdings rate ich dazu, zuerst den ersten Band zu lesen, da das Paar aus dem ersten Band ein paar Gastauftritte hat.
Serena Randall bringt das Leben von dem Anwalt Derek Rosewood ziemlich durcheinander. Seine neue Klientin wirft ihn ziemlich aus der Bahn. Das erste Mal seit langem hat er wieder das Bedürfnis mehr als nur eine Nacht mit ihr zu verbringen. Normalerweise schläft er nicht mit seinen Klientinnen. Zudem gibt es mit den anderen Frauen auch nie mehr als eine einzige gemeinsame Nacht. Seit seiner Scheidung liegt sein Schwerpunkt auf seiner Tochter und seiner Karriere. Er genießt sein Singleleben und möchte daran auch nichts ändern. Trotzdem bekommt er Serena nicht aus seinem Kopf. Dabei ist das letzte was er möchte unnötiges Drama und das scheint in Serenas Fall vorprogrammiert..
Meinung: Das Cover ist ein Traum! Ich kann kein Buch nennen, das so ähnlich aussieht. Es ist schlicht und trotzdem hat es eine fantastische Wirkung. Es hebt sich von den anderen Büchern ab. Es passt perfekt zu Band eins. Die Cover bilden zusammen ein harmonisches Gesamtbild. Mir persönlich gefallen sie deutlich besser als die schwarzweißen Originalcover mit jeweils einem Mann und einem bunten Titel drauf. Übersetzt wurde die Geschichte von Silvia Gleißner. Die Geschichte wird sowohl aus Serenas als auch Dereks Sicht erzählt. Das hat der Geschichte wirklich gut getan. Für mich war es das erste Buch der Autorin. Man kann die verschiedenen Bände aber unabhängig voneinander lesen. Es wird kein Vorwissen verlangt. Man wird höchstens ein bisschen zu den Vorgeschichten der Vorgänger gespoilert. Den Schreibstil fand ich etwas gewöhnungsbedürftig. Teilweise wirkte er ein bisschen veraltet und als würde er mehr zu einem historischen Roman passen. Obwohl ich dieses Genre so gut wie nie lese, hat mir der Schreibstil doch gefallen. So eine Art zu schreiben habe ich im New Adult Bereich noch nie erlebt. Ich fand es erfrischend. Von der Geschichte hatte ich große Erwartungen, die unerfüllt geblieben sind. Es wurde ein Drama und eine Intrige angekündigt, aber ersteres ist nicht wirklich aufgetaucht und letzteres wurde sehr schnell aufgeklärt. Ich hätte mir gewünscht, dass das ein bisschen mehr im Mittelpunkt steht. So wurde das Thema Anwalt, Gericht und Intrige nur eher nebenbei erwähnt. Die Charaktere waren nett, aber konnten mich leider nicht erreichen. Serena ist am Anfang eher zurückhaltend und schüchtern. Sie wirkt unbeholfen. Während der Geschichte macht ihr Charakter aber einen Wandel durch. Den Wandel an sich fand ich gut, aber er kam mir doch ein bisschen zu abrupt. Dereks Hintergrund hat mir gut gefallen. Auch sein Charakter wurde eigentlich gut dargestellt. Mein Problem mit ihm war aber, dass er die ganze Zeit von seinen Prinzipien redet und sie dann plötzlich für Serena über Board schmeißt. Seine Handlungen fand ich nicht wirklich nachvollziehbar, besonders da man ja eigentlich einen guten Einblick in seine Gedanken- und Gefühlswelt hatte. Seine Tochter war einfach nur Zucker! Seine Exfrau war toll dargestellt. Ich konnte sie mir richtig gut vorstellen. Das ist noch so ein Thema bei dem ich mir am Ende mehr Infos erhofft hätte. Der Prolog hingegen war toll. Nur hätte ich mir dort ein bisschen mehr Zusammenhang gewünscht. Das Thema ist so in der Form nicht nochmal passend aufgegriffen oder zu Ende gebracht worden.
Wer Band eins gelesen hat darf sich auf ein Wiedersehen mit Demi und Royal freuen. Die beiden fand ich sympathisch.
Fazit: Winter Renshaw überzeugt mit ihrem ungewöhnlichen, aber guten und interessanten Schreibstil. Ich hatte mir den Themenschwerpunkt ein bisschen mehr als nur auf die Liebesgeschichte erhofft. Trotzdem fand ich das Buch. Wer eine schöne Geschichte für zwischendurch sucht ist hier genau richtig. Mich konnte die Autorin soweit überzeugen, dass ich den ersten Band „Rixton Fall – Secrets“ nun auch noch nachlesen werde. Der dritte Band „Rixton Falls – Goals“ wird am 25.06.2021 bei Lyx erscheinen.

From the get go, Bachelor consumed me and I happily let it take me prisoner! The depth and distinction Winter puts into her books only becomes more astonishing with each release and Bachelor does not fall short by any means. Getting to finally read the enigma that is Derek Rosewood and seeing an in-depth look into his life was exciting, enthralling, and even a bit enchanting.
Derek has many titles. Scorned ex-husband, father, attorney, playboy, and now: conservator. His job lands him at the feet of the one and only Serena Randall, socialite and millionaire heiress. It's definitely must at first site but if you looked like Serena with her golden red locks and her piercing blue eyes, wouldn't you be as well?
Lately Serena has found herself trapped behind the walls of Belcourt Manor. She's sassy, shy with a strong suit, and sexy, and it's that powerful combination that throws Derek for a loop of massive proportions.
While their meeting may not have been conventional, Derek and Serena certainly know how to tease the reader with their eventual simmering, slow burn relationship that turns into a raging, blazing fire. In a way they both have some learning and growing up to do and leaning on one another while they each have to face the truths of their personal lives is something they try and convince themselves isn't wanted. And in the end, as Serena puts it, perfectly:
"This is my life now
I'm in love with every beautiful, challenging, imperfect moment of it.
And I wouldn't trade it for the world."
One thing I absolutely loved was that Winter did not hold back on bringing back some of our favorite characters from Royal and introduced us to some amazingly written grimy characters. And if you pay close attention, the tie-ins for another Winter favorite might just catch your eye and leave you with a smile!
Bachelor is not a book to pass up. It's charming, seductive, endearing, and even had some beautiful sentimental moments. In my opinion, the perfect combination for a 5 Star book!

The romance was pretty cute. The smut was amazing.
is the second book in the Rixton Falls series. In it, you will meet Derek and Serena.
Derek is an attorney who doesn't trust women as far as he can throw them. Especially since the love of his life left him for an older dude. Saggy old dude, who just happens to be rich. Plus, Derek thought she was the love of his life - boy was he wrong.
Enter Serena, now her life sucks ass. She found her fiancé in bed with two of her friends. Her stepmother from hell is trying to control her dad and the family money. Pretty sure she's being poisoned too. Basically her life is a shit show and I felt so bad for her.
When they meet, Derek obviously thinks that something is super fishy in this family. It sure does help that Serena doesn't trust her stepmother or the person taking care of her in this house. Everyone is her stepmother's minion and she needs out.
Of course, these two had amazing chemistry. It didn't help that sparks flew once they were under the same roof. It was amazing and I loved it. Almost laughed when they were like, this will never be something more. Just one and done.

These two fell for each other. Along the way, their romance was blossoming into something real. They were also finding out more sketchy shit about her stepmom and everyone else involved with Serena's life. Basically, she needs new friends and family stat!
I honestly really liked this book. The romance was cute. Derek's daughter and family were adorable. His ex-wife and Serena's mom were terrible beyond belief. I hated them both so much. Other than that, the ending was adorable and made me feel happy. I enjoyed this book and can't wait till the next book.

It's happened to me again with this book. Winter Renshaw has taken an otherwise admirable H and made him skeevy. (It happened with Royal, too.) I wanted to like the H, Derek, but prefer details of both MCs' relations with other people off book, neatly tucked away. Said details were mentioned early enough and with enough frequency in the book to make me think that the H is sort of gross. I know there are many readers out there who wouldn't mind this at all, and if so, you might really enjoy this book. The H had some good qualities, but he just didn't appeal to me.
What I liked:
1) The engaging writing and the dual povs.
2) The h wasn't ok with being a victim and tried to start fighting back against her situation.
3) Seeing Royal and Demi again. That was nice.
4) The H, Derek. There were definitely some things I really liked about him. He was forgiving and didn't try to forget his attraction to the h with ow. I can't stand it when the H does that.
5) The epilogue was sweet.
What I didn't like:
1) The push and pull. It was kind of annoying and not all that convincing.
2) The H. I tried to like him, but he was sort of dumb. And I didn't like the details he gave about him and ow. Ick.

Uptight attorney and beyond rich gal meet under strange circumstances. This gal is being drugged and "home imprisoned" by her stepmother. Derek picks up on it as Serena manages to quit taking her medication by hiding it. It was very intriguing and a little suspenseful with stepmother pulling out all the stops to discredit or manipulate Serena.
Meanwhile Derek moves her into his place which was a bad thing.
Lots of story. I did not really fall for Derek because his uptight personality was well played but it wasn't my "thing". wink wink

Die "Rixton Falls"-Reihe gehört definitiv zu der unaufgeregten Sorte von Büchern. Was meine ich damit? Die Bücher sind entspannt. Die Story ist interessant aber nicht spannend, denn man weiß eigentlich direkt worauf das ganze hinausläuft. Der Verlauf der Geschichte ist wenig dramatisch und die Charaktere sind nicht unbedingt sehr vielschichtig aber dennoch sympathisch.
Wenn man das alles so liest, könnte man das natürlich auch negativ interpretieren aber nein. Ich brauche eben auch manchmal Bücher, bei denen mir nicht das Herz vor lauter Dramatik blutet oder ich gar weinen muss, weil es so tragisch ist. Ich mag es auch mal entspannt, ein bisschen romantisch aber eben ganz einfach unaufgeregt.
Und genau das ist "Rixton Falls - Rules".
Der Schreibstil ist toll und somit lässt sich die Geschichte super gut lesen. Für mich ein tolles Buch für einen entspannten Nachmittag.
Ein bisschen gestört hat mich das typische "Klischee" des ewigen Junggesellen (Derek) der den Frauen und der Liebe abgeschworen hat, das auch laut in die Welt posaunt aber dann NATÜRLICH bekehrt wird.
Serena ist ein wirklich interessanter Charakter und ich mochte ihre Geschichte, auch wenn recht schnell klar war, wie der Hase läuft.
Generell war der Roman ein bisschen oberflächlich. Nicht die Ansichten oder Charaktere sondern viel mehr hat die Autorin bei vielen Verläufen eher an der Oberfläche gekratzt, ist aber nicht in die Tiefe gegangen. Ein typischen Beispiel ist hier die Szene, wo die ehemalige Geliebte von Derek auftaucht. Irgendwie erschien die Szene unnötig und man hätte den darin versteckten "Schlüsselmoment" auch anders aufbauen können.
Aber genau dieses "an der Oberfläche kratzen" hat auch dafür gesorgt, dass der Roman eben so unaufgeregt war.
Ich mochte das Buch alles in allem wirklich ganz gern und kann es jedem empfehlen, der nicht immer das volle Programm Drama, Romantik und Sex benötigt.
Wenn man das alles so liest, könnte man das natürlich auch negativ interpretieren aber nein. Ich brauche eben auch manchmal Bücher, bei denen mir nicht das Herz vor lauter Dramatik blutet oder ich gar weinen muss, weil es so tragisch ist. Ich mag es auch mal entspannt, ein bisschen romantisch aber eben ganz einfach unaufgeregt.
Und genau das ist "Rixton Falls - Rules".
Der Schreibstil ist toll und somit lässt sich die Geschichte super gut lesen. Für mich ein tolles Buch für einen entspannten Nachmittag.

Tolle Geschichte mit sympathischen Charakteren
Obwohl mir der erste Band nicht ganz so gut gefallen hat, war ich sehr neugierig auf den zweiten. Besonders, weil mir Derek schon im vorherigen Teil sehr sympathisch war.
Der Schreibstil war wieder sehr lockerleicht und angenehm zu lesen. Unter anderem war das ein Grund, warum ich das Buch innerhalb kürzester Zeit gelesen habe.
Derek hat sich bereits im ersten Band der „Rixton Falls“-Reihe in mein Herz geschlichen und so habe ich ihn ab dem ersten Satz direkt gemocht. Er war zwar teilweise in sich verschlossen, hat aber dennoch andere mit offenen Armen empfangen und war ein sehr freundlicher Mann. Serena habe ich anfangs eher schlecht einschätzen können, aber mit der Zeit wurde ich mit ihr warm und so hat auch sie mir gefallen.
Da ich zu Beginn nicht wirklich wusste, um was es in diesem Buch geht, war ich sehr von der Richtung der Geschichte überrascht. Das hat aber dem Buch keinen Abbruch gemacht. Ich habe es sehr spannend gefunden, wie sich die Geschichte zwischen den Protagonisten entwickelt hat.
Ein wenig schade fand ich, dass Dereks Tochter nicht ganz so oft vorgekommen ist, aber nichtsdestotrotz hat mir dieses Buch wundervolle Lesestunden bereiten können und es hat mir um einiges besser gefallen als der erste Band.
Ich freue mich schon sehr auf den finalen Teil der Reihe.

AUDIOBOOK REVIEW: Omg! I LOVED Royal, but oh my goodness, I ADORED Bachelor! The angst was off the charts and I REALLY enjoyed the suspenseful element added with Serena's case.
I enjoyed the narration more in this book too. Elizabeth Hart and Nelson Hobbs did a fantastic job with their different voices. Nothing three me off this time around.

The book was a complete disappointment.
The author was unable to convey the passion and chemistry between this couple.
Derek was a jerk from the start and Serena isn't like he had many lights.
The story had no solid plot and is too slow and unpleasant in pace.
In the end we jump to a happy ending without seeing them as a real couple.

I was intrigued by the blurb but I didn't enjoy the book as much as I thought I would.
It kinda fell flat and all the fluff in the epilogue felt too "fake picture perfect" for me.

Nachdem im Werk „Secrets“ bereits Demi und Royal ihr spätes Glück gefunden haben, gibt es nun eine Lovestory um Serena und Derek.
Vorweg möchte ich anmerken, dass es sich hierbei um eine in sich abgeschlossene Handlung handelt und der Roman vollkommen losgelöst vom Auftaktband gelesen und verschlungen werden darf.
In diesem Werk dreht sich alles um Serena und Derek, die abwechselnd die Erlebnisse aus der jeweiligen Perspektive schildern.
Serena ist weder schüchtern noch unbeholfen, obwohl sie zu Beginn der Geschichte eindeutig in diese Kategorie gesteckt wird. Sie ist forsch, unverblümt und leidenschaftlich. Mit ihren 25 Jahren hat sie schon einiges durchgemacht. Es fällt ihr schwer, Menschen zu vertrauen. Umso erstaunlicher ist es, dass sie Derek bereits nach wenigen Momenten ihr Herz öffnen kann. Ihm beginnt sie schnell zu vertrauen, weshalb er auch der Einzige ist, der ihr in der Not helfen kann.
Derek hat auch schon einiges durchgemacht. Nicht zuletzt eine unschöne Trennung von seiner Exfrau. Jetzt will er nur noch für den Moment leben, genießt die Wochenenden mit seiner Tochter und besucht regelmäßig seine Familie. Doch durch Serena werden seine Wünsche nach mehr geweckt. Obwohl er es niemals möchte, wird er weich und lässt sie in sein Herz.
Die Handlung beginnt hier sehr dramatisch und der Leser wird gleich ins tiefe Wasser geschupst. Serena, gefangen in dem riesigen Familienanwesen, kann einzig auf die Hilfe ihres neuen Anwalts Derek hoffen. Schnell wird deutlich, wie viel Drama und Tragik hinter der Geschichte um Serena stecken und wie groß ihre Angst ist. Winter Renshaw verdeutlicht durch ihre Worte lebendig, dass es der jungen Frau nicht gut geht und dass nur Derek ihr helfen kann. Dieses Verhalten prägt auch die ganze Geschichte, denn sie ist von ihm abhängig, obwohl er eigentlich niemanden an sich heranlassen möchte.
Die Autorin schreibt sehr flüssig und leidenschaftlich. Sie verdeutlicht ihre Ideen durch eine bildliche und ausdrucksstarke Sprache, nimmt selten ein Blatt vor den Mund und verdeutlicht ihre Ideen durch Leichtigkeit und Dramatik. Dem Leser fällt es jedenfalls leicht, der Handlung zu folgen und sich in die Erlebnisse hineinzuversetzen.

Leider bin ich mit beiden Protagonisten überhaupt nicht warm geworden. Schade, denn Royal und Demis Geschichte aus dem ersten Band hatte mich so begeistert, dass ich unbedingt auch den zweiten Teil lesen musste. Doch in diesem Werk konnte mich kaum etwas wirklich fesseln.
Die Handlung wirkt aufgesetzt und mäßig realistisch, die beiden Hauptakteure sind übertrieben und wenig glaubhaft und die Dramatik zu gestelzt. Ne, es tut mir von Herzen leid, doch leider kann ich dem Werk nicht meine große Empfehlung aussprechen.
Natürlich sind Geschmäcker verschieden, weshalb ich mich auch wirklich durch das Buch durchgequält habe, doch bis zum Schluss konnte es mich einfach nicht mehr umstimmen. Vielmehr hat mich das Ende dann auch noch geärgert, denn auch das wirkte auf mich nicht stimmig und passend.
Die Schriftstellerin hat dennoch bewiesen, dass sie einen großartigen Schreibstil besitzt. Es ist wirklich einfach, sich die Ereignisse vorzustellen und der Handlung zu folgen. Dennoch bleibt zumindest bei mir das Gefühl zurück, dass mir hier das Besondere gefehlt hat.

In „Rixton Falls - Rules“ geht es um, die Geschichte von Derek und Serena. Seit der hässlichen Scheidung seiner Jugendliebe hat sich Derek geschworen nie mehr eine Beziehung einzugehen. Er ist nur für seine Tochter da und Drama erlebt er genug im Gerichtssaal. Doch als er in einem neuen Fall als Finanzverwalter eingesetzt wird, begegnet er Serena. Sie ist eine junge Erbin, deren Vermögen er verwalten soll und dennoch ist da diese Anziehung ...
Serena kommt aus einer guten Familie und hatte Freunde, ihren Verlobten und eine Wohltätigkeitsorganisation, die ihr Lebenswerk waren. Auf einmal ist alles durch einen Vorfall anders geworden und nun bekommt sie Derek vorgesetzt, als Anwalt, der ihre Finanzen regeln soll.
Derek ist Anwalt und seit ihn seine Jugendliebe damals durch eine Hässliche Scheidung gezogen hat, lässt er sich auf keine Beziehung mehr ein und kümmert sich nur um seine Tochter.
Der Schreibstil ist angenehm flüssig und wird im Wechsel aus der Perspektive von Derek und Serena erzählt. Der Leser kann sie so beide näher kennenlernen und ihre Gedanken und Gefühle erfahren während der Handlung. Die Nebenfiguren sind ebenso authentisch und gestalten die Geschichte mit. Die Kulisse kennt man noch ein wenig aus dem ersten Band, aber man lernt auch andere Orte kennen.
Die Spannung hat mich mit jeder Seite mehr in die Geschichte von Serena und Derek gezogen. Serena kommt aus einer guten Familie, doch sie gerät in eine Intrige und bekommt durch ihre Familie einen Finanzverwalter. Serena hat ein großes Päckchen zu tragen und es ist nicht einfach für sie. Natürlich bewegt man sich auch in der schönen und reichen Welt und es keine einfache Liebesgeschichte wird. Man spürt deutlich das etwas nicht stimmt und das vielleicht nur Derek ihr helfen kann, wieder in ein geregeltes Leben zu kommen. Was passiert, aber wenn auf einmal Gefühle entstehen? Wird es für beide ein Happy End geben?
Ich muss gestehen das mir der 1 Band ein wenig mehr gefallen hat, weil sich in diesem Band viele Dinge ein wenig gezogen haben und es manchmal etwas mühsam war. Die Charaktere waren gut ausgearbeitet und bei Serena hatte ich das Gefühle, dass sie in gewissen Situationen etwas zu unsicher wirkt. Zum Schluss hat sie, aber bewiesen, dass sie gegen die Intrigen ankommt.
Das Cover sieht einfach toll und ich finde, es passt perfekt zur Reihe.

I enjoyed the first book in this series more than enough to keep going with book two, Bachelor. Derek Rosewood, the hero, is the brother of Demi and best friend of Royal, the couple from the first book. He’s bitter as his marriage ended when he caught his wife doing the nasty with her plastic surgeon. He has only part custody of their daughter. He’s now determined not to get involved with any more women.
But of course, this being a romance that plan is soon out the window. He is assigned conservatorship of Serena, a wealthy young woman; to check her finances etc as he has been told she is suffering from mental and emotional issues and can’t be trusted on her own. He very quickly realizes this is not the case at all and ‘rescues’ her from the clutches of her evil step-mother. I know it sounds kind of hokey, but I really did enjoy this book quite a bit.

I found this a fine entry into this series.
But of course, this being a romance that plan is soon out the window. He is assigned conservatorship of Serena, a wealthy young woman; to check her finances etc as he has been told she is suffering from mental and emotional issues and can’t be trusted on her own. He very quickly realizes this is not the case at all and ‘rescues’ her from the clutches of her evil step-mother. I know it sounds kind of hokey, but I really did enjoy this book quite a bit.

I enjoyed Royal but I just couldn't get into this one. I honestly have no idea how Derek and Serena actually ended up together. They spent the majority of their time denying their feelings and trying to convince themselves that they weren't good for each other. It was exhausting. The only connection I felt between them was lust - which normally I don't mind. However I just felt they weren't together enough for any love to develop.

MEINE MEINUNG:
Ich hatte direkt bevor ich mit diesen Buch begonnen hatte auch den ersten Band der Rixton Falls Trilogie gelesen. Dieser konnte mich aber nur mittelmäßig überzeugen und deshalb war ich gespannt, ob Band 2 mir besser gefallen würde.
Der Schreibstil der Autorin war wie auch schon im ersten Buch wirklich angenehm und auch flüssig zu lesen, sodass ich einen sehr guten Lesefluss hatte und auch schnell durch das Buch durchkam. Die Geschichte wird hier aus der Sicht der beiden Protagonisten erzählt, was mir persönlich immer sehr gut gefällt.
Serena war am Anfang ein eher undurchschaubare Protagonistin, die man erst im Verlauf besser kennenlernen konnte. Mit jeder Seite wurde sie mir dabei wirklich sympathisch! Sie macht zu dem Zeitpunkt eine Menge durch und ihr Leben ist ein einziges Chaos aus dem sie sich zu retten versucht. Dabei finde ich, dass sie sich dann trotzdem an einigen Stellen etwas zu naiv verhalten hat.
Derek konnte man schon im ersten Band der Reihe kennenlernen und da habe ich ehrlich gesagt nicht ganz gewusst, wie ich seinen Charakter finden soll. Hier konnte man ihn aber viel besser kennen- und auch mögen lernen. Gerade in Bezug auf seine Tochter Haven ist er eine wirklich tolle Person.
Die Handlung in diesem Buch war am Anfang total packend. Im Verlauf hat dies aber leider ein wenig nachgelassen, doch hat sich gerade zum Ende hin wieder total gesteigert. Insgesamt hat es mir aber wirklich gut gefallen und in manchen Momenten konnte ich es sogar kaum weglegen!
FAZIT:
Mir hat der zweite Band der Trilogie auf jeden Fall besser gefallen, als das erste Buch. Trotzdem hatte es für mich an machen Stellen noch ein paar Schwächen, die mir aber nicht den Spaß am Lesen genommen haben!

O.M.G. This book rocked from start to finish. Derek & Serena’s love story was so emotional and enchanting that I rooted for them when they didn’t even have hope in their lives and their 1st meeting was anything but conventional. This was a powerful story that will rock the foundation of what love is , what love looks like and how love forgives.
Derek is many things to many people –lawyer, daddy, playboy, hated ex-husband, and now conservator to a heiress. He expected this new job and title to be a run of the mill job but its anything but-- Serena Randall is beautiful and makes his job very difficult. He finds himself so attracted to her yet he knows this is a dangerous road to go down, especially after how they met.
Serena is a well-known heiress and a socialite who is always making news- just of late she has been locked away in Belcourt Manor. Serena doesn’t know what to make of her life; she just knows something has to change, especially now she is finding out what has been going on all these months. She is sassy yet sweet, shy yet with a core of hardened steel in her that keeps her from falling over and laying down for those villains. And when Derek comes into her life, she knows he is someone who will change her life in a HUGE way-whether it is for the better, it remains to be seen.
Derek and Serena take this emotional journey that changes them deep down inside and brings out some things that they didn’t expect out of them. Derek realized that he cant be everything to everyone; Serena realized the previous relationship was toxic and Derek is the man for her….the paths they were on does truly lead to happiness but it took angst, pain and bitter fire to get to where they end up and the ending was so lovely and full of passion and earthy delights.
This is why this author is one of my top 5 favorites, for she keeps writing these seductive and endearing characters that stay with me even after the book is done and makes me want to go back and re-read all over again. I cannot wait to visit #RixtonFalls again soon.

This is second book from the Rixton Falls series by Ms Renshaw. She says you can read it as a standalone, though I would recommend reading the Royal first (I did not, though it is on my TBR list), it would give you some background into the Rosewood family.
Derek Rosewood has many titles: scorned ex-husband, father, attorney, playboy, and now conservator. His job lands him at the feet of the one and only Serena Randall, socialite and millionaire heiress. It's definitely lust at first sight but if you looked like Serena with her golden red locks and her piercing blue eyes, wouldn't you be as well?
Serena has supposedly suffered a mental breakdown after a scandal involving her boyfriend, Keir Montgomery, and two of her best friends all in bed together. Issues with drugs/alcohol and going on spending sprees. How much of it is sensationalized publicity spin? How much of it is truth? Derek is determined to find out because he knows she isn't crazy. There are people around her like her wicked stepmother and former socialite friends that stand to gain from her misery.
What happens when they both let their inhibitions go and give in to their desires? Will he lose his right to practice law? Will she go back to her conniving ex? This book will take you on one hellava roller coaster ride, that you don't want to miss. Sure, there are some things that make you want to scream and pull your hair out, but there are also some very sweet, loving moments as well. Great work to an AWESOME author!
I plan to read Royal soon, I know back-assward but that's me, and can't wait until the next in line. Ms Renshaw has me hooked. I highly recommend reading anything she writes, but for the purpose of this review, I highly recommend Bachlor!!!

I loved this story. I know the next book was supposed to be Delilah’s but I wanted Derek’s story from the start so I’m glad I got it. After a bad marriage and an even worse divorce Derek just wants to concentrate on his daughter and working at the law firm with his dad. The last thing he expected was to meet someone like Serena. After a string of bad events including a cheating fiancé, a meltdown at an airport and driving a car off of a bridge, socialite Serena Randall is under a conservatorship due to her stepmother feeling as though Serena has been making bad choices. Serena has been a shut in since her little incidents and is not very keen on Derek even though she is attracted to him after their first meeting.
I loved Derek. I could see he wanted to not like Serena so much but somehow she worked her charm on him. I loved the relationship between Derek and his daughter Haven and even between Serena and Haven. And Derek’s ex was a real piece of work. I can truly see why he shut himself off from relationships because he made a bad choice with that one. I’m glad my thoughts of Serena changed after she was first introduced. She was a great character. I loved how she wasn’t a spoiled rich girl even though she could have been portrayed as such. And with friends like hers who need enemies. I liked the Dark Paradise connections to Serena. Winter has a slight crossover in all her books. I love the Rosewood family and can’t wait to read about the rest of them!

I'm not saying I wouldn't have enjoyed Delilah's story, because let's be real ANYTHING by Winter Renshaw I'm bound to love. But, I couldn't picture Bachelor any other way! Bachelor was Derek's story in the Rixton Falls series. Now divorced, Derek is as anti love as they come, only seeking the fun of relationships and nothing more. The first woman he finds he wants something more in is the one woman he shouldn't. Serena Randall is his new client who makes him feel things he hasn't felt in years. Together these two break the rules and light your kindle pages on fire. Renshaw warned us that it was twisted, and she lived up to it. There was some eye widening, jaw dropping moments reading this. She makes it impossible to pick a favorite from her. Bachelor is just a new addition into the amazing repertoire that is Winter Renshaw's work. She keeps getting better and her stories are deliciously addicting. There's no ending in sight any time soon for her and I'm perfectly ok with that! I was really looking forward to this one but it just fell a little flat for me.
It had all the right elements: a forbidden romance, characters that mesh flawlessly, and drama. But the execution fails to deliver. Everything just seems rushed and it stops the story from reaching its full potential.

Loved It!!!
Such a great ...captivating read....really enjoyed this one ....I have to say I was happy when I saw this was going to be Derek's story ...wanted to know more about him after reading Royal ..which is Book 1 ...but these books CAN be read as standalones ...

I just realized I read this series in the wrong order I think it's fine though. Still works. This storyline was quite interesting, it had a lot more going on and wasn't what I thought it would be as the typical Winter Renshaw plot.
For some reason even if Serena is described as a redhead I kept thinking of Serena from Gossip Girl. I imagine that's what her life was like with the intrigue and drama with the glitz and all. I sort of like that she had this experience to open herself up. The Rosewood siblings are definitely interesting and I'll get to Royal's book soon. I enjoyed this one and can't wait for who is next.

It's the second book (but can be read as a stand alone)
I enjoyed it in almost the same way as the first one. Save from the part where everything solves itself in such a rushed unexplained way I feel like the author just gave up on research and just gave us the same ol... (about a week ago that issue resolved itself. He presented everything so that it could be solved and now we live happily ever after.)
So yeah. The writing was good, again. I enjoyed that.
Relatable (somewhat) characters.
Really sexy scenes & a rather fast read make for this book an average one you can spend an afternoon with and escape the real world for a bit.
