Thirty-five years ago, the Grots came, and now, Brock, the first Novan-Earthling, is ready to go to Earth and find himself a wife.
But Earth is not like Kuria, and Brock finds himself raiding to survive.
That’s how he meets Emma. He will do anything to ravish her, but will she succumb to the raider’s charm?
RAVISHED BY THE ALIEN RAIDER is the first book in the newest series from Ashlyn Hawkes, the Kurians. The first generation of Kurians—the Novan-Earthling babies—are all grown up. Now, they need to find their own lovers to continue to prevent the Novans from becoming extinct.
But the Kurians, especially the males, are all plagued by an inquisitive and adventurous spirit, just like their Earthling mothers. They jump at the chance to go to Earth and find their females there.
The Earthling males do not care for this at all, but the females? How they feel about this remains to be determined.
This book was as shallow as a puddle and could’ve been written by AI. The MMC is called a “raider” by the loosest definition, because he “raids” a village’s supply stores for food in the winter because he just got to an alien (to him) planet and didn’t know that the foraging would dry up in the wintertime. He’d love to get a job and work, but no one will hire him even though he’s able bodied and speaks perfect English because they’re prejudiced against aliens. All of them. Everywhere. Except for the FMC and her BFF ‘cause they’re special. 🙄
The reactions of the characters when they find out about the MMC’s “raiding” are so weird. One time the FMC asks, “are you raiding again?” like you’d ask a gambler if he’d been to the casino.
The spicy scenes are sooo shallow too. I hate the words “orgasm” and “finger” used as verbs.
The plot felt rushed and random. The dialogue sections dragged on and on, with pages of back-and-forth uninterrupted by movement, scenery, character thoughts, or even a dialogue tag. Felt like reading a screenplay, but the banter wasn’t even witty or enjoyable.
This is a quick download 'gotcha' from an Instagram Reel. I don't remember what the quote/reel was, but I'm sure it was good.
I'll give this one 3 stars (which for me is 'I liked it, but wouldn't read again). I think the relationship was a little rushed, but I did like the concept of Brock and Emma meeting, and the tension between them. Brock surviving with any means necessary, but still being a kind being and then Emma having a kind heart and not caring about the differences between the Novans (aliens), the Earthlings, and the spawn of the two (the Kurians).
Big shout out to the side character... which I can't remember there name at this point, but it's the new director person that hires Brock and Emma for the movie. Big props to taking a chance and also recognizing the spice between the two.
Book Review: Ravished by the Alien Raider: An Alien Abduction Romance (The Kurians Book 1) Author: Ashlyn Hawkes My Rating: 5 Stars Reviewed by: Tammy - Book Nook Nuts
REVIEW The Novan-Earthling babies are growing up and wanting lives of their own. First up we get Brock who is the Commander and Dr. Lisa's son. He unlike some of his friends wants to go to earth. He isn't sure why but he knows he will find his female there. Emma is a bit naive but she tries to see the good in people. She wants her movie to hit the big screen but in order to get that done, she may have to become its main focus. Can the Raider capture more than her attention? Great story in a new series... I can't wait to see who is next.
**I read this book via Kindle Unlimited and I am voluntarily leaving my honest review of this book**
A wonderful take of the alien romance....rather down to earth (pardon the pun)!! Great details and world building, strong characters and an interesting and sometimes funny relationship between the love birds. My only disappointment was the ending...but there may be a follow-up!! Definitely a series you're not going to want to miss!!
The first Kovian is all grown up and planning a trip to Earth for a wife. Unfortunately Krix dropped our lover boy in snow country with no provision other than what Brock is wearing.
I will admit I grabbed this book while on an alien smut kick, but this turned out to be a wonderful romance. There is a lot philosophical, and psychological, thought put into it. It really changed my view points on a few things. Highly recommend.
A quick read full of interesting twists. Though it was short it left you wanting more. A decidedly interesting series.Getting them all is your best bet
