Cass Donovan is reminded that you can’t believe everything you hear, especially when it comes from the dead . . .

When stories begin circulating of a centuries-old ghost haunting the Bay Island lighthouse, Cass is caught up in mystical happenings of her own, with countless voices from the beyond all clamoring for her attention with dire warnings. But before she has a chance to learn whether there’s a connection between the rumored ghost and her restless visitors, the lighthouse keeper mysteriously falls to his death, and Cass’s reputation for communing with the dead lands her right in the middle of the police investigation.

Cass knows the victim was no saint, as he made little effort to hide his philandering ways from his wife or anyone else, and often acted out with no thought for the feelings of others. But had he finally gone too far, or were there more menacing motives behind his murder? As Cass begins building a list of suspects, including the man’s supposedly grieving wife and a mysterious new woman in town, she also turns her ear to those otherworldly voices, hoping for a clue. And as she begins to close in on the culprit, she realizes too late that if she’s not careful, she’ll soon be communicating with the dead in person . .

Another great book by Lena Gregory! I’m always happy to see a new book released in this series. The characters are original as are the story lines. In Grave Consequences, Cass’s psychic abilities lead her to the local lighthouse where the lighthouse keeper has suspiciously fallen to his death A growing list of suspects, competing voices from beyond the grave that can’t be silenced and Cass’s unstoppable drive to find the truth make this a light entertaining read.

The suspicious death of a lighthouse keeper draws draws Case Donovan into the search for the truth, as well as pirate's treasure, in this entertaining paranormal mystery. While the din of voices from other side convinces Cass that it was murder, she struggles to discern the warnings and messages. As in the other books in the series, Cass is accompanied with friends Bee and Stephanie who will charm you. Psychics, ghosts and pirates enliven this tale and will provide you with several hours of escape. Thanks to netgalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read this book in exchange for an honest review.

Review:

The characters are well developed and well rounded. I really like the friendship between Cass, Bee and Stephanie. They are such good friends and would do anything for each other. And I really like how dramatic Bee can be, he makes me laugh. The secondary characters in the book add a lot to the story.

The writing style flows smoothly and it defines the characters very clearly through their actions and words. The author is very talented in her descriptive writing and these descriptions pulled me into the story from the very beginning. I enjoyed the paranormal aspect of this book, and thought that Cass being able to communicate with the dead made it even more interesting. The mystery was well plotted and had enough clues to sift through and suspects to consider. The ending was very climatic and nerve racking.

I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a well crafted cozy mystery. And if you like paranormal cozy, give this book a try.

I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book provided by the publisher, Beyond The Page Publishing, and NetGalley, which I greatly appreciate.

It's time to return to Bay Island in the fifth installment of the Bay Island Psychic Mystery series by author Lena Gregory. I've enjoyed this series from the very first book. It does have paranormal elements to the story, in the form of Cass' psychic abilities but for me, that only enhances the story and the series. What keeps me coming back to this series is the characters and their friendship. I love how the author has written the friendship between Bee, Cass, and Stephanie. For me, it's like catching up with old friends - one who has the unfortunate knack of being around when someone dies or finding a dead body. This time around, Cass is trying to solve the mystery surrounding the death of the local tour group owner/operator, which is complicated by her newly awakened ability to hear voices from beyond. The mystery kept me engaged. There is a lot to sift through and plenty of suspects to choose from in trying to determine the killer's identity. Once again, Cass finds herself in the middle of a climatic reveal as she and Bee narrowly escape the killer. I love how the author ended this book; it left me with a smile and looking forward to seeing how these characters continue to evolve in future books.

I will always return to Bay Island to catch up with Cass, Bee, Stephanie, and everyone else on this island. I know I'm in for a good read and will be entertained and kept guessing.

I voluntarily read a digital advanced reader copy provided to me by the publisher, Beyond the Page, through Netgalley. The opinions expressed are my own.

For some odd reason, I missed the two books before this one having read the second one in the series. However, I was able to dive right in like I had never left. Cass is an interesting character and has grown quite a bit since I last saw her in the second book. I just love Bree and Stephanie, although I wish I had a little more description of them; I had a hard time picturing them in my mind. The mystery was excellent in this book, and the very end had me balling like a baby. Why, you ask? Read it and find out. This is an excellent cozy paranormal mystery (not a lot of paranormal) with a good plot and great characters. Highly recommend! I was provided a complimentary copy which I voluntarily reviewed.

Grave Consequences by Lena Gregory is the 5th book in the Bay Island Psychic Mystery series, and my second book in this series. Dead people talk to Cass Donovan, but unfortunately they all talk to her at once and she is struggling to control it. Cass hears one voice call out about the lighthouse over and over, so her and her friends go there. Next thing Cass knows, she sees a body falling out of the lighthouse, and a shadow in the window he fell out of. Cass is determined to find the truth. What a fun series, I am looking forward to reading the next book in the series. I'm always excited to find a new series to read, and I really enjoyed this one. This book has a well thought out plot and characters, along with plenty of twists and turns. I recommend this book for cozy mystery book fans, and this one has a psychic twist.

*I received a free copy of this book which I voluntarily chose to write an honest review for.

This has quickly become one of my favorite series! Cass is fantastic as she runs Mystical Musings. She is having some issues with her powers this time though. Whenever she does a reading now she gets bombarded with too many voices for her to make any sense of what they are saying. Instead she just heard the word lighthouse so she goes to visit with her friends. Things are going great until a body falls from a high window landing hard. Giving CPR Cass tries to talk to the deceased but had no luck. The rumor mill states otherwise though so she starts investigating just to be on the safe side leading to a surprising ending with an extra touch of awe. A well written cozy mystery with a touch of the paranormal making for a delightful story full of unexpected twists. The eclectic mix of characters has something for everyone with Beast adding just the right furry touch. A total must read series! I totally loved it so I give it 5/5 stars.

This is the fifth book in the series but my first. The characters were a delight to read about. The mystery is well-paced and plotted. Several well-placed red herrings kept me on my toes, guessing whodunnit. I look forward to catching up on the previous book to learn more about the characters' backgrounds.

All thoughts and opinions are my own, and in no way have I been influenced by anyone.

GRAVE CONSEQUENCES by Lena Gregory
The Fifth Bay Island Psychic Mystery

Cass Donovan and her friends, Bee and Stephanie, decide to have a day of fun and visit the island's lighthouse. It seems that Fred, the lighthouse keeper has decided to add ghost tours, citing an old legend of the tragic romance between a local girl and a pirate. Bee starts to get treasure fever and Cass wonders if Mystical Musings could become a stop on the tour. As the trio gazes at the scenic view, Cass sees Fred fall from the third floor window. She also sees a shadow. Was that the shadow of a spirit...or a murderer? With her mediumship abilities growing, Cass tries to cope with the barrage of voices and make sense of what they're saying. Can she make contact with Fred? Or will she just make herself the target for a very human killer?

GRAVE CONSEQUENCES is a story of friendship. The deep bond between Cass and Bee is evidenced by all that they do for each other. Even though each can get annoyed with the other, they are always there for each other and would give everything to help the other person, no matter what. Such friendships are rare and should be cherished.

This fifth Bay Island Psychic Mystery is emotional. Watching Cass suffer as she tries to get a handle on her new abilities, her inability to understand messages received, and fear for her friends keep the tension high. New characters, including a possible mentor for Cass, along with a tragic ghost story provide intriguing new storylines. Filled with lots of twists and turns GRAVE CONSEQUENCES keeps readers guessing.

Although this is a more somber mystery, laughs and humorous scenes serve to lighten it. I especially love how Beast raises the vibe of every scene he's in. GRAVE CONSEQUENCES is a compelling mystery that kept me engrossed from start to finish.

FTC Disclosure – The publisher sent me a digital ARC provided through NetGalley, in the hopes I would review it.

This is the 5th book in the series. Although, it's not terribly confusing, I did struggle through the first part of the book, not the author's fault. I had no background on Cass, Bee or Stephanie, making it difficult for me to connect with the characters immediately. Despite that, I thought the story was good.

Cass Donovan, the owner of Mystical Musings on the boardwalk, has psychic abilities. So, not only do people stop to browse her shop, but they also ask for a reading.

Cass has two best friends, Bee Maxwell and Stephanie Lawrence. Cass had been trying to do readings for Stephanie to answer the question of when will Stephanie and her husband, Tank, become parents.

From one reading with Stephanie, there is a push for, Cass and her friends go to the Bay Island Lighthouse, where they learn about the new ghost tours given by the owner/keeper now. It is here that they hear about the death of the lighthouse keeper from the late seventeen hundreds, and a rumor of a buried treasure. Cass is assaulted with voices and suddenly realizes that she is being warned away from the lighthouse. Before any of them could make a move, they witness someone tumble out of a window, and Cass swears she sees a shadow move back, but she's not sure if the vision is real.

Due to Cass's reputation, rumors start that Cass spoke to the deceased and knows who the killer is. Now, Cass needs to figure out who the killer is before the rumors send the killer to her.

I loved the paranormal parts in this book, and also, the friendships between Bee and Stephanie. I'm not one to try to figure out the mystery, but let the book unfold and tell the story. I was surprised, and the ending made me cry.

I received an ARC from NetGalley via Beyond the Page Publishing and I have voluntarily reviewed this book.

This is the fifth book in the Bay Island Mystery series by Lena Gregory.

As each book unfolds, we see that Cass is more and more comfortable with her psychic powers. In this title, she is learning to focus and block out certain dead people when she is trying to concentrate. She only realizes this is possible when she sees another lady do it and Cass wants to learn more.

The mystery here is pretty entertaining and I get a kick out of Bee and all of Cass's friends who hover around her so much. The gal might learn a bit more if they would leave her to her own devices more. We start out the book wondering if the person that fell from the lighthouse fell or was pushed to his death.

The characters are all a real hoot and I still have trouble seeing "Bee" as a guy. Not sure why. But he is definitely a character that grows on you. And you don't doubt his devotion to Cass.

One great series with paranormal elements.

If you love a good cozy mystery, definitely check this one out.

I received this as an ARC (Advanced Reader Copy) in return for an honest review. I thank NetGalley, the publisher and the author for allowing me to read this title.

‘Received this book through NetGalley for an honest review.’

This is the 5th book in a series, but everything is set up and explained well enough that I didn’t have any confusion for not having read the first 4 books. I like the paranormal aspects of the book. Cass can speak to the dead and owns a psychic shop. Someone is murdered and she tries to help by speaking to the dead and receiving warnings.

It was entertaining, but there was hardly any mystery because from the start I knew who the killer was. There wasn’t a surprise twist or anything, so it was very obvious. There were too many descriptions of locking doors, eating at the diner and feeding the dog that I started to get bored in the middle.
However, the ending was very sweet and brought a few tears to my eyes. I’m happy things ended the way they did.

Cass is one of those psychics who doubts themselves when they find themselves in an unwanted and frustrating situation. She finds herself unable to shield against the constant unwanted barrage of voices from the undead, that needed her help. It is causing her restless nights and an inability to work out the messages she has been receiving from them. When murder and attempted murder were thrown in the mix, things began looking a bit dicey for her and Bee her BFF. I didn’t expect to enjoy this one as much as I did, I loved the twists and the unknowing aspects in this story. It was exciting, intriguing, engaging, and fun, a must-read, folks, a must-read indeed.

Psychic Cass Donovan has come into her powers later in life and is having trouble dealing with the voices. When a local is murdered, she tries to learn as much as she can to help the local police solve it, with the blessings of the police chief, who believes she is able to pick up on things they can't see.
With the help of her friends she works on several mysteries, one being a murder, another an assault.
When the killer corners another psychic Simone, then Cass and Bee planning to kill them, they barely escape, but manage to bring him to justice.
Nicely penned with plenty of intrigue and a bit of humor. I enjoyed the change in my usual fare.
I requested and received a NetGalley Arc gratis and offer my opinion in the same vein.

This is book 5 in the Bay Island Psychic Mystery series. It can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Cass is getting inundated with voices of the dead talking about the lighthouse. Cass Donovan left her old life and marriage behind in Manhattan and moved back home to Bay Island, where she owns a shop called Mystical Musings. She not only sells gifts and items that she knows are right for people, she gives personal and group readings to others. She's also recently discovered that her ability to communicate with the dead is growing, and she's not able to tune them out, so all the voices come at her at once -- although, gratefully, not at a constant run.

When one voice in particular keeps telling her something about the local lighthouse, she wonders what it might be. So when her best friend Bee insists that she take the day off to help their friend Stephanie, she agrees. Stephanie is obsessed with adopting a child, and it's gotten to the point she can't think of anything else, but she agrees to go with them.

While they head to the beach, they see a new tour bus, and learn that Fred DiCarlo, whose wife runs the lighthouse gift shop, is now going to run ghost tours, including the lighthouse. While in the gift shop, Cass notices Fred's wife is upset and wants to find out why. But she also discovers that there's an old exhibit of a journal from a woman who lived hundreds of years ago, which intrigues Bee.

Then, later at her shop, Cass meets a woman named Simone who asks for a reading. When Cass starts her process, the voices come again. Then suddenly Cass comes to a revelation, and it might just change everything for her. Still, she can't sift through the voices, and something else is coming through that might put one of her friends in danger.

But then there's a death, and Cass witnesses it from the lighthouse. Still, she doesn't think it will cause the problems that are about to enter her life; and with the help of Bee, who's keeping a watch on her, Cass struggles to maintain her equilibrium and sanity, and try to figure out what everything means. All she has to do is stay out of the cross hairs of a killer to survive...

This is the fifth book in the series, and might be the best one yet. I truly am enjoying the strong relationship between Bee and Cass, and he's rather like a big brother to her, watching out for her; and somehow, manages to get her huge dog to obey him when Beast pretty much ignores Cass, and that's humorous in itself.

The mystery begins solely at the beginning with the death, but it's not straight up. There's an even older mystery of a young woman who lived at the lighthouse keeper's cottage with her family, and it leads to intimations of buried treasure somewhere near, even though no one has been able to find it. But there's one or more people who are interested in that treasure, and Cass wonders if the man was murdered because of it.

What ensues is not only that tale, but Cass's increasing knowledge of what she can do with her psychic ability, and is trying to learn how to tame it. Along with Stephanie wanting a child, and the gossip surrounding the murder leading back to her door, Cass has her work cut out for her trying to keep the rumors away.

There isn't much more I can say without giving away spoilers, so I won't add much else except to say that when the murderer is discovered, it is a surprise and yet the motive is one that is believable; the climax is done nicely; and it leaves us wanting to read the next in the series. Highly recommended.

I received an advance copy from the publisher and NetGalley but this in no way influenced my review.

Review:

Grave Consequences is the fifth book in the Bay Island Psychic Mystery Series by Lena Gregory. An enjoyable cozy mystery to occupy a rainy afternoon or two. I have jumped in with my first book of Ms. Gregory’s with this book. While I suspected whodunit pretty early on (aka – I figured it out), my suspicions were not confirmed until the end.

I found it interesting that Cass had a strong, positive feeling about her relationship with Luke (local policeman) as their interactions did not scream in a relationship to me. But given it is early on in the relationship, I will wait patiently to see how it progresses in the next book in this series.

“Luke, her . . . something, though she wasn’t quite sure what—their relationship seemed to be progressing comfortably since he’d taken a position with the Bay Island Police Department and moved to Bay Island—worked the scene with his partner, Stephanie’s husband, Tank.”

“She and Luke seemed to be headed toward something nice together, something special, despite Cass’s trust issues, thanks to her ex-husband and her ex–best friend, and despite the fact Luke didn’t really accept that Cass could communicate with the dead. That was okay, though; Cass sometimes had a hard time believing it herself.”

I found the struggles Cass was having with respect to her gifts (hearing all the voices at once) interesting. I wondered if she was going to learn how to control that aspect of her gift as it was very distracting to her amateur sleuthing endeavors. During the course of the story, she does learn a bit of control and is able to listen to certain voices, which helps in discovering the culprit to this heinous crime.

I loved the interactions between Cass and her besties – Bee Maxwell and Stephanie Lawrence. Especially Bee. The three look out for and complement each other in only the way best friends can. For me, this was one of the highlights of the story – a solid friendship. They make quite the sleuthing team.

There are several underlying stories just waiting to break free, which I am sure will be continued as this series carries on, or at least this reader hopes so.

I liked this story well enough that I hope to go back and read the first four books in this series as I suspect this will assist in some questions I have about Cass and her history with respect to her gifts. As well, I would like to get a better sense of who she is.

"Grave and Consequences" is the fifth book in the "Bay Island Psychic Mysteries" Series of Cozy Mysteries. My softcover edition (by the way, I miss the mass market paperback editions of these books) has a grand total of 204 pages, 195 of the main story, but 204 pages total, from cover to cover.

Let me just say that I always suspected that Cass Donovan, the owner of Mystical Musings, genuinely has true Psychic abilities. However, having started her professional life as a psychologist, one could argue she was trained to "dismiss" them.

Turns out that one of the local business people on Bay Island, Fred, is starting a ghost tour as part of the Bay Island Lighthouse's offerings. Several people have suggested to Cass that she speak with Fred about including Mystical Musings as part of the tour, but Fred wants nothing to do with that idea. So, the question for you, dear reader of this review, is does it have to do with the fact that Fred is a greedy sumbitch, or the fact that Cass is not young enough and pretty enough for Fred's tastes? Oh, did I mention that Fred is married to Amelia, who is co-owner of the business Fred runs?

In any event, it becomes apparent that Cass is overwhelmed with the number of spirits demanding her attention, now that her Psychic abilities have been awakened in full force (see the previous volume, "Spirited Away"), and finds help in a new visitor to Bay Island, Simone.

As someone who loves Cozy Mysteries, I have come to enjoy this particular series very much. The characters offer some diversity (Bee is a Gay man, Simone is a Woman of Color) and the bonds of friendship between Cass, Bee and Stephanie remain strong and secure.

As a professional Psychic Reader, I enjoy seeing someone who is a professional Psychic Reader represented in these books, especially the moments when Cass is tuned in. I know that Victoria Laurie, author of the "Abby Cooper, Psychic Eye" and "Ghost Hunter Mysteries" (and now, the "Magical Trinket Mysteries") is also a professional Psychic-Medium, but do not believe Lena Gregory, the author of the "Bay Island Psychic Mysteries," is. However, she must have a super accurate consultant in these matters.

I look forward to reading the sixth book in this series, "A Spirit Seeks Asylum," as hopefully, by the time I finish this book, as well as the seventh book, "With a Spirit of Vengeance," the eighth book shall be published.

Cass Donovan uses her psychic abilities to give readings at her Bay Island boardwalk shop she calls Mystical Musings. Although she's always been aware of her intuition, she has comfortably grown with her psychic powers until she witnesses Fred soaring from an upper window in the lighthouse to the rocky shore below. He was a randy character, known for womanizing. It's disconcerting that when Cass tries to relax and "open" her psychic gate, she is now flooded with voices of the departed all vying for her attention and she'll get no info from the dear and newly-departed Fred though there are others who think she might have.

As the well-plotted and paced cozy mystery proceeds to unfold, Cass is introduced to Simone Carlson who appears to have the same abilities--and more. Cass is hoping she can teach her to block all but the specific voice she wants to hear. Obviously, she has more to learn.

In the meantime, her two main support characters have her back and about every waking moment. Greatly devoted to Cass is Bee, though every time I saw his name, thought of a woman. Stephanie is a married friend who is aware, as is Bee, of Cass's psychic abilities. Cass has a puppy, a Leonberger, who has grown into his paws and is still in training lending more than one audible hoot.

This narrative punched my buttons for setting descriptions, quirky characters, twists and red herrings, talented and independent (mostly) main character, and even a wet dog with fur full of sand--sure to add a chuckle--especially if you've ever been there. The conclusion pulls all loose threads together and drops a couple hints of what you might find in Book 6.

I received this digital download from the publisher for the book tour and greatly appreciate the opportunity to read and review. Recommended to those who enjoy an entertaining and immersive cozy mystery.

I'm excited to be back on Bay Island with Cass, Bee, Stephanie, Tank and Luke.

Cass's mystical talents are hitting an all time high - she hears voices of the departed constantly. The voices bombard her as she tries to run her business and go about her normal routine. When she hears about the haunting of the Bay Island lighthouse, she can decipher if the voices are warning her about the lighthouse or something else. Then, one of the local lighthouse keepers falls to his death out of one of the lighthouse windows. Cass now isn't sure if his death was accidental or on purpose, or rooted in the mundane or the mystical. Either way, Cass finds herself right in the middle of the investigation. The victim was not faultless and the author gives the reader plenty of means, motives, and opportunities to figure out along the way.

Grave Consequences is another fabulous book in the Bay Island Psychic series. I feel like Cass, Bee, and Stephanie are friends and I enjoy their characters, actions, and antics. Their dynamics create a warm and emotional friendship, where they all have each other's backs and best interested at heart. Cass is a very down-to-earth character and has been likable from the beginning of the series. I find her easy to connect to, whether you believe in her abilities or not. Stephanie and Bee are excellent sidekicks, always there for her and supportive.

I enjoy the flow of the story, the just right pacing, and the smooth conversational dialogue between everyone. As with all of the books in the Bay Island Psychic series, I find myself totally immersed in the plot, the characters, and the setting. I visualize the story and find myself wanting to tag along with Cass, Bee, and Stephanie on their many adventures.

I may have been provided an ebook of this series to review but I will be buying a paperback for my bookshelf.

Building upon previous books in this series, you can red this as a stand alone but it will be best appreciated if you have some exposure to Cass, Bee and Stephanie. Trust me, you will love the previous books in this series. Author Lena Gregory has created one of my favorite series.
Beast adds some needed lightness to the dark topics covered.
Cass can't control the voices in her head. She can not help them all and can't help the most important ones if they all speak at once! Plus, she knows there is something important someone is trying to message to Cass regarding her best friend Stephanie.
It helps to know tha Stephanie and husband, Tank, a police officer, have been trying to adopt a baby. They are turned down because the birth mother is afraid Tank's job has the potential to leave Stephanie a young widow and single mother. Stephanie is heartbroken.
Meanwhile, there is a new ghost tour business in town. Could this mean another source on income for Cass? There is something strange about the woman running the tour company, a woman whose husband disappeared under suspicious circumstances. She has psychic abilities of her own and has ties to Amanda, from the local lighthouse.
Speaking of the lighthouse, is there really a treasure hidden there, from pirates long ago?
True or not, someone seems to be haunting the shoreline. Cass, Bee and Stephanie are in the wrong place at the right time as the lighthouse keeper, Fred, falls to his death upon the rocks.

Filled with tension and swirling emotions, this episode of the series will keep you on the edge of your seat. Not all mysteries and problems can or will be solved within these covers!

I received an arc of this book from netgalley in exchange for an honest review.
So I almost didn't request this book because its book 5 in a series and I havent read any of the others. But it sounded so good I decided to take a chance that I wouldn't be lost..
I am so glad that I did, this was a great book, and now I definitely want to check out the first 4 books..
All of the characters are funny and just all around great.. I think besides Cass my favorite character was Bee. He seems like a great friend, and also a huge gossip. able to ferret out information before any one else. I also loved Stephanie and Tank and of couse Cass' dog Beast..
So in this book we have Cass whose psychic powers seemed to have grown, and now she is hearing so many ghostly voices that she is having trouble seperating them to listen more closely..
While doing a reading for her friend Stephanie to help her figure out when a baby might be coming her way to adopt, she gets some ghostly voices talking about the lighthouse.. When they arrive after looking around they see a guy falling from one of the lighthouse windows.. They also find out that there might be a buried treasure somewhere near the lighthouse that was buried there a really long time ago..
Cass is trying to contact the guys ghost that just died, while her and her friends are also trying to figure out who killed him and how to find the treasure..

This is the 5th book in the popular "Bay Island Psychic Mystery" series by cozy author Lena Gregory. I adore this series and was thrilled to receive the next in series. Thank you to the publisher and to Net Galley for the opportunity. My review opinions are my own . This is such a fun series and this next installment in the series is engaging from cover to cover ! This is a favorite cozy series of mine. I love returning to Bay Island , Cass and her friends. The friendships featured in this series are endearing. The paranormal featured in this series is fun, compelling and interesting .

In this next in series Case Donovan our resident psychic is hearing several ghosts and spirits after a murder occurs at a lighthouse. Case and her friend Bee and Stephanie were at the lighthouse when the murder occurred. Case wants to find out the truth both for the victim and to put the ghosts to rest. In addition to her sleuth she also dives into possible found pirate treasure and more psychic messages. Case has a talent for solving mysteries with a little help from her psychic abilities and her ghostly friends. The supporting charcters are likable and all add to the fun. The setting of the island is enjoyable and a breath of fresh air . I loved the ending and it left me as a fan of the series so happy for the next book.

This is such a fun read and a great escape from life. I enjoy each release in this series and look forward to the next in series.

Cass Donovan and the Bay Island locals are gearing up for Summer Tourist season. When Cass begins hearing voices of the dearly departed whenever she tries to use her psychic talents, she’s unable to give her friend Stephanie a reading on when she can expect to become a mother. Frustrated all around, Bee and Cass take an afternoon off to cheer Stephanie up. They decide to go to the local lighthouse and play tourists, but end up involved in a police investigation when the owner falls to his death.

Cass works hard to quiet the voices and try to reach the dead man. When a woman comes into her shop and Cass discovers she is buying the business the dead man and his wife ran, she adds yet another suspect to her list. Wanting to trust the woman, Cass battles with her gut instincts, the voices and solving a murder. Add to that the warning message she seems to keep getting for Stephanie and Tank, and Cass is more confused than ever, but she’ll do her best to help save her friends and figure out who the murderer is, even if she dies trying.

This is the first book I have read by this author and in this series…and I am totally hooked! With an adorable mountain of a dog, Beast, and BFFs that have her back, this series is one that I am going to enjoy…and there are three other books already published for me to catch up on while I wait for the next book in the series to drop!

Cass Donovan has physic talents and likes to give her friends readings. One day, just before summer season on Bay Island, she is giving her friend Stephanie a reading when this is interrupted by voices of dead people.

Unable to finish her reading, she and Stephanie go sightseeing on the island when someone falls to his death. Have they just witnessed a murder?

This is the fifth installment in the Bay Island Psychic Mystery series, which I wasn’t familiar with before reading this book. Worry not as this is such an enjoyable read, I stayed way too late into the evening as I couldn’t put it down.

The mystery was realistic, and with lots of twists and turns. I liked that it kept me guessing and the ending was quite a surprise! Will you guess who done it?

The main character, Cass Donovan, is very likeable, and I felt I was friends with her as I kept turning the pages. She found her physic powers later in life mid through her professional career, which is strangely relatable. I feel the author draws a good parallelism between physic powers and finding your true calling whatever that may be, and she beautifully portraits this as a fun story line.

All in all, an incredibly fun read!

Disclosure: I would like to thank Beyond The Page Publishing for an advanced copy of Grave Consequences, Bay Island Psychic Mystery #5 by Lena Gregory. This is my honest review.

In Grave Consequences, Cass hears the voices of the dead. A lot of them...making such a cacophony that she can't understand what they want. Finally, while visiting her town's lighthouse with friends, she hears a clear message, "Stay away from the lighthouse." Immediately afterwards she sees a man fall from a window to his death. Just like the first lighthouse keeper, Samuel, had died in the late seventeen hundreds. Was Samuel warning her? What or who was the mysterious silhouette she saw in the same window a second later? Could Cass use her gift to find the killer? Or can Cass and her friends, Bee and Stephanie, investigate in a more traditional manner?

With at least one ghost, a psychic, a murderer and a lost treasure, this book has something for everyone. In addition, there are genuine characters that you quickly care about. It also has a sweet romance between Cass and the handsome Detective Luke. And don't forget Cass' giant Leonberger dog, Beast. The murderer was a bit too easy to discover. But that allowed me the freedom to enjoy the populace of Bay Island all the more. If you love character-driven cozies, you will enjoy visiting Bay Island for a few hours. 4 stars!

Thanks to Beyond the Page Publishing, Great Escape Virtual Book Tours, and NetGalley for a copy in exchange for my honest review.

Such a great story! I have really enjoyed seeing Cass’s psychic abilities become more pronounced as this series has progressed. In this latest book, Cass is having trouble blocking out all of the ghostly voices she hears. On a visit to the lighthouse with her best friends, Stephanie and Bee, they witness the lighthouse owner fall to his death. Cass sees a shadow in the window as Fred falls and feels that he was pushed. Now she is trying to figure out what happened by listening to the voices. The caretaker of the lighthouse gives Bee a transcript of an old diary of a young girl that once lived in the lighthouse. Legend had it that her beloved was a pirate and had hidden treasure somewhere. The man had died and is said to haunt the lighthouse at night looking for the treasure. A woman has come to town and stated that she was buying Fred’s tour company, though no one knew it was for sale. The woman seems to also be psychic and helps Cass out. I love how throughout this book, Cass, Bee, and Stephanie all look out for each other and are always there for one another. This was a very intriguing story and I hope to see more of Cass honing her psychic abilities and adventures of the three friends. I look forward to seeing what is next for Stephanie and Tank as well. A definite must-read series!

Another first time read for me and I really enjoyed "getting to know" Cass Donovan and her friends. I haven't encountered a heroine who has psychic abilities that manifest in the form of ghosts and voices. So right away you are drawn into the mystery because of Cass's interactions with the unseen world. While many people come to her shop to have a reading conducted she is often able to just use her incredible powers of observation and her skills as a former psychiatrist. She is onsite when the victim plummets to his death but he is not a voice that she hears, at least she doesn't think it is Fred DiCarlo. Her friend Bee is her great protector (next to her puppy Beast and her boyfriend/Detective Luke). Bee is also a no nonsence-tell it like it is guy who somehow manages to walk along a jetty in signature platform heels. You might think that you've figured out who the guilty party is by the halfway point in the story but you would most likely be wrong. As with any good cozy there are plenty of suspects for Luke and Tank (Cass's friend Stephanie's husband) to follow up on. This was the fifth book in the series and chances are I will be on the hunt for the other four, very soon. Great read, looking forward to number six!
