From New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Marie Force comes a steamy new contemporary romance about two strangers who find love in the most unexpected way—by saving a life.
Austin Sitting at the top of my game, pitching for Baltimore and a single daddy to the most adorable little girl in the world, I’m living the dream. Until I get the dreaded call that Everly is sick. My entire world stops when the doctors say the only chance my baby has is through a bone-marrow transplant. My life becomes a living nightmare as I wage a war to save my daughter. Nothing else matters. Not my Cy Young Award, not my career, not my team or my talent. None of that can fix her. She needs a miracle. What we get is a stranger... and Maria just might save us both.
Maria My life in Miami might not be glamorous, but it is rewarding. I divide my time between working as a nurse at a free clinic and waitressing at my family’s Cuban-Italian restaurant. After being cheated on by my long-time boyfriend, I’m not exactly looking for Mr. Right but wouldn’t kick him out of bed if he suddenly showed up. Six months after I donated bone marrow to a little girl in Baltimore, I get an email from the child’s grateful father, but everything is anonymous until the one-year mark. I’m desperate to know more about him. The last thing I expect him to be is a gorgeous, famous ballplayer. One email becomes another, until we find ourselves caught up in a friendship neither of us expected, but both desperately need. I’m falling in love with a man I’ve never met.
Read the exciting sequel to How Much I Feel to find out what happens when Austin is scheduled to play in Miami, and the team arranges a meeting between Austin, Everly and Maria.

The second installment of Marie Force's new Miami Heat Series. It's another winner for me. The story will bring tears to your eyes, joy to your heart and, of course, a supertastic romance that has a major league baseball player and single dad, Austin Jacobs, as the hero. The beautiful and tender-hearted heroine is Maria, Carmen's cousin from the first book. We get to revisit cast members introduced in "How Much I Feel" and enjoy scrumptious visits to the family restaurant, Giordino's, including hugs and matchmaking advice from Nona and Abuela.
Fun-to-read and lots going on in Miami, Florida when the sparks of romance turn to a blazing new relationship.
How Much I Care by Marie Force packs an emotional punch. Sweet, charming, sexy, and, endearing this single dad romance was hard to put down.
I always love when a couple meets in a unique way and Austin and Maria conversing first anonymously through Be the Match, a bone marrow donor organization, and then after the approved time through emails in which they share so much of their lives with one another was highly intriguing. I think there was such a deep emotional connection not just because Maria saved Austin’s daughter, Everly’s life, but because they were both in a place where they were ready for a relationship even though they didn’t realize it.
Maria and Austin both feel an immediate bond through their correspondence and while they are both single, Maria is a bit wary after the way her last relationship ended. Austin doesn’t push and once they meet face to face prior to an event at the Marlin’s ballpark where Maria will be recognized for helping Everly when the Orioles, Austin’s team, plays the Marlins, it is evident that staying away from one another isn’t an option.
I liked the way their relationship played out. I loved the way Maria’s extended family wrapped Austin, Everly, and Austin’s parents up in their fold. They had some ups and downs, but they did a good job of communicating and working through them.
Four stars because this was a busy book and at times I kind of felt Maria and Austin’s relationship got lost. There were things that were brought up throughout this book that were just left hanging out there with no resolution and I found that truly distracting.
How Much I Care was a feel good romance I truly enjoyed.
Another fun entry in the Miami Nights series by Marie Force, How Much I Care, is Carmen’s cousin Marie’s story. Marie is a nurse at a free clinic in Little Havana, and when she is a match to donate bone marrow to save a little girl’s life, she doesn’t hesitate. After donating anonymously, she receives an email six months later from the overly appreciative father, and they begin an online friendship. After corresponding for quite some time, the two form a close bond. It turns out the father is a single, rich, good-looking baseball player, Austin Jacobs, but as usual, the relationship has hurdles to overcome.
It was so much fun revisiting the family Italian/Cuban restaurant, Giordino’s, with the entire gang, including the two wonderful grandmothers, always full of thoughtful advice. I would classify this more of the fluffy type of romance, but I enjoyed it and look forward to the next episode with Carmen’s sister Dee. I gave it four stars. Did I mention I love anything written by Marie Force? Narration for this audiobook was provided by Rachel Fulginiti and Connor Crais, who brought the characters to life.
I was really looking forward to Maria's book. I got the KU book, but decided to listen to the audio (whispersync). I love sweet Maria and swoony Austin. They have instant attraction. I personally know that this can happen. Maria and Austin have great chemistry. At first, Austin is more than grateful to Maria when they first meet. I loved Connor Crais' voice. He was perfect as Austin Jacobs, ace baseball pitcher for the Baltimore Orioles. Once again, Miami and the family is a great supporting cast. Carmen (from book 1) is a great supporting character. I love how food and family is central to Maria's world. Maria is a dedicated nurse at a free clinic. She works Friday nights at the family's Italian/Cuban restaurant. Everly is Austin's 3 year old daughter. She's really the key and the reason that Austin met. Maria is the reason for........ The plot moves along at a good pace. Ms Force is a great writer. Most of the book is spent on Austin and Maria finding a way to be together. Austin lives in Baltimore with Everly. Maria lives in Miami. 4 STARS I'm going to read or listen to book 3- Dee's book. I loved the brief teaser at the end of How Much I Care .
What a wonderful (sports) romance!! I loved the characters. Marie was an over thinker but she had so many other wonderful characteristics. Loved the Miami scene....very involved story. It reads standalone but I see where it's going so Iook forward to next character/next book.
Interesting book this one, Austin is a single father who has the most amazing little girl and he wouldn’t have her without the generosity of Maria for signing up to be a donor. Their romance is epic, you can’t help but fall in love with love because of these two. I am excited for book 3. Great narration as well they were perfect for this book.
Okay, so I want to start off by saying I’m in an audible book kick! Since finding audio-books on Spotify I haven’t been able to NOT listen to them. lol It also helps that there are a ton of romances, book cheesy, steamy and heart wrenching.
This book took me by surprise, so bare with me while I try to put my thoughts into words. First, I love a good single dad trope. ESPECIALLY when he’s an athlete AND an overall great man/dad. Second, I love confident women. One that has their head on straight, that cares for her family and loves hard. Third, I LOVE the communication between the two main characters! Austin and Maria had amazing communication skills from the beginning. I think that’s why I knew I’d enjoy this book. Fourth, I love how the situations and problems in the book were REAL LIFE things. They were things that made your heart ache for the characters. They were things that many of us deal with in our lives. And they were things that made this fictional story feel real.
I think the author did a beautiful job with the flow of the plot. Especially with the timeline. She takes you through many different dates, but does it in a way where you don’t miss all the extra details. For example, closer to the end of the book Austin and Maria had a bump in the road with family while waiting to see what team Austin signs for as a free agent. From that moment, the books breeze past those weeks (might have been a month), but you don’t miss what happened during that time. The author gives you enough to not feel like you miss anything. But she doesn’t give too much so you don’t feel like it’s being strung out. (I really hope this makes sense lol I’m sure you’d understand if you read the book!)
Some people might think Austin and Maria’s relationship was “too” good, but I don’t. I am one of those people that just know I love my man. I knew from the moment I met him, WAY before we started dating, that there was something about it and I BARELY spoke to him. So when we started dating, I knew that he was going to be the one I was going to marry and spend the rest of my life with. Which means, for me, I don't think their relationship was “too good”. I think they both had that connection from the start and knew what they wanted. There was no being around the bush, yes there were some doubts, but that didn’t have to do with their connection. It had to do with long distance and career changes. Two things that I think everyone can go through and still maintain a healthy relationship!
Overall this book has made me want the physical copy and to read all the other ones in the series! I would say this is a standalone romance! BUT this does end with a small glimpse of the next, which is a romance between Dee (Maria’s sister) and Wyatt (a groomsman in Maria and Dee’s cousin’s wedding, which happens in How Much I Care). I would recommend it to the ones that love a good happy ending without drama! I’m only about those drama free romances! lol I would say this is for audiences 18+ due to the language and some of the steamy scenes. Lowkey wishes there was more steam since I loved the chemistry between Austin and Maria, but that’s just me!
Just want to end by saying, I think this book has made it to the top 10 romance books in my eyes! I will be adding this series to my Amazon cart and have a debate with myself on if I should buy them all! LOL
*Note: I listened to this on Spotify, I wasn’t sent it in any way, did not buy the book. It also only took me two days to finish listening to it, probably one if I didn't need to pause it as much as I did.
5 Sterne
Audiobook Review: This was my first listen of these narrators and I absolutely loved them. These two are definitely added to my favorites.
This story was a beautiful romance story between two people who were brought together under unlikely and heartbreaking circumstances. Maria was a perfect match for Austin and Everly...I’m every way possible. She was able to donate her bone marrow to Everly and Maria saved her life. This situation automatically made Austin and Maria connected for life. But these two were perfect for each other.
I loved that their romance started via emails and texts. It was a slow build for them but no less intense. Everly was the sweetest little girl and you just couldn’t help but fall in love with her.
This story brought tears to my eyes multiple times. Perfect heartwarming romance.
Even though this is book 2 in the series, I was able to enjoy it without having listened/read book 1 (even though I definitely want to check it out and can’t wait for book 3).
What an absolutely heartwarming story. So full of everything good in the world. The characters were so sweet, charming, caring and just so endearing, you found yourself cheering for them. You want a book that just makes you feel good? Then this is the book to read.
Absolute Leseempfehlung. ❤️❤️❤️
Reread~ A great couple, family and storyline. I loved seeing two sweet and I cocked families. We meet more of the Miami family and see how everyone from book one is doing. I love the pacing and details of this series and story.
Original~
strong>Love
Marie and Austin are a sweet couple and Everly just steals the show. The way they met was unique and the family dynamic was appealing and what I consider a Marie Force staple.
This story has bright chemistry, backstory of betrayals, family love, realistic decisions of how to do what is best and then the path through family illness and woe. This is book two in Miami and I am more in love with Nona and Abuela. These women are incredible. This story does include Carmen and Jason from book one, but could still be enjoyed if you read the books out of order.
Lesen, lesen, lesen!
I hope you enjoy reading this book as much as I did💖💖 I love Marie Books!💖💖💖
Dee nodded. “Mommy cried. She said she never wanted me to know how much she worried about me when I was there.” “Aw, that’s so sweet. No one will ever love us the way she does. Well, except for Nona and Abuela.” Dee laughs. “Right.” Dad comes out through the sliding door. “I love to hear my girls giggling together. It’s like old times when I’d have to go in your room twenty times every night to tell you to go the hell to sleep.” “We never did,” Dee says. “I know! I could hear you whispering every night. I miss that now that you’re grown up.” He takes a seat facing us. “We never would’ve gotten through this without you two. Thank you so much for everything.” “You don’t have to thank us, Daddy,” Dee says. “There’s nowhere else we’d be when you and Mommy need us.” “And we appreciate that so much, but we want you to go back to your lives. We’re okay, and I’ll be working from home until she’s getting around better. Everything is good, and we’re ready to be on our own again. You girls have to be ready, too.” Only because my mom had her drains removed on Friday do I even consider leaving, my heart racing at the thought of being back with Austin and Everly for longer than a quick visit here or there. According to Austin, Everly has been super cranky without her Rie. “Are you sure?” “Positive. We have the best kids ever, but we already knew that before this happened.” I have to admit I’m a tiny bit thrilled at being released from duty. “As long as you’re sure, I think I’ll go see what Austin and Ev are up to.” “Go,” Dee says. “I’ll be here if anything comes up.” Dad stands and hugs me. “Thank you, Maria. Thank you so much. We’re so, so proud of what a compassionate, competent nurse you are.” “Thank you, Daddy. I love you both.” “We love you, too.” “Tell Mommy I’ll check on her after her nap?” “I will, honey. Go enjoy your new family. They must be missing you.” They are, even though they’d never add to my burden by saying so too often. I run upstairs, throw clothes and toiletries into a bag, find a clean pair of scrubs for work tomorrow and in my haste nearly forget the sneakers I wear to work. I’m in the car and headed for Gable Estates ten minutes later. I decide to surprise them rather than tell Austin I’m on the way. I can’t wait to be there, to see them, to help put Ev to bed and to sleep wrapped up in Austin’s arms for the first time in weeks. I’ve missed him so much, which seems silly since I’ve seen him every day. It just hasn’t been the same..💖💖
While on the road with his baseball team, Austin gets a call stating he needs to come home because his daughter is super sick. Flying back and finding out she has Leukemia, Austin thought his life was over. Finding out she has a bone marrow match gave them something positive to look forward to.
After the one year mark, Austin writes his daughters bone marrow match thanking them for donating and how they saved his daughter’s life. Once Maria responds back to Austin, they instantly bond. Writing back and forth non-stop, Austin asks to FaceTime. Both are so physically attracted to one another. Lucky for them, Austin’s team is playing in Miami as their last game series for the season. This is also the last season for Austin with his current team and is now a free agent. They’re connection was so quick but Maria asks to stop talking to him because she knows she is already so infatuated with him but doesn’t want her heart to be broken. Since the teams he’s looking to possibly sign with are mainly on the west coast. Austin understands but asks to meet Maria while he’s in town to meet in person. She’s agrees.
At their first meeting, they both know they have to strong of a pull so Austin suggest staying in Miami for the off season to see if they can work out. The bond between Austin’s daughter and Maria was so cute! Maria really molded perfectly in their bubble.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 🌶️🌶️
Tropes: Single Dad Sports Romance Strong Family Second Chance Romance
Can I just say, I looove this 2nd book much more than the first. I felt constant euphoria while reading about this couple. Maria donated her bone-marrow to a young child name Everly. Unbeknownst to Maria the child"s father is a famous baseball player. Both parties the donor and the patient only knew each other by pseudonym name and were not allowed to know each other until a year has passed. All the while they were allowed to write to each other. Through the letters they get to know each other. Once Maria and Austin found out about each other their emails turn into text and the attraction/affection started. Although their relationship may seem instant it was not due to the fact they were corresponding with each other through email for quite some time. I love how Austin was so swooned worthy of how he truly put his heart out there to show Maria that she was the woman for him. We get to catch up with Jason and Carmen from book one as they walk down the aisle. Everly the little girl whose life is saved steals many of the scenes she's in with her dad and Maria. I always enjoy seeing a man whose so passionate about his child and how Maria not only falls for Austin but his daughter also.
Second in the Miami Nights series, in which the bone marrow donor meets the recipient, a tiny little girl, and her handsome pro baseball father and it's true love from first email and text through to first face-to-face encounter. Austin couldn't have predicted it, nor could Maria, but they seem meant for each other, in spite of the fact that his free agency after the last game of the season means he may end up in Seattle, far away from Miami, where Maria's family lives and where she can't imagine leaving.
But he proposes anyway and she accepts, and it's announced at her cousin, Carmen's wedding, but then comes the news no one expected--that Maria's mother has stage 3 breast cancer. Maria is a nurse and knows what that means and she vows to stay with her mom to help her through what is likely to be a daunting course of treatment. But that means she may have to say goodbye to Austin and little Everly.
But the surprise is Maria's, when she learns from the radio that Austin has signed with a Florida team at a sizeable reduction of earnings because he can't imagine not being away from her. Maria is furious that he would do so. Will she accept the sacrifice that she knows he's made even when he says it's no sacrifice? And what will happen next?
This is the story of Austin & Maria. Austin is a pitcher for the Mariners. Maria works at a free clinic in Little Havana in Florida. Austin's daughter got leukemia when she was two. Maria was on the Be The Match list to donate bone marrow, which she does for Austin's daughter. Austin reached out to her by email, but they are limited to talking about anything but the transplant for a year. A year to the day, Austin reaches out to her again. He sends very emotional emails, and she sends back the same. They actually fall in love before they even meet. It's a roller coaster ride for them both because their lives are so different. There are funny times, sad times and frustrating times. The love of family is high priority in this story. The support from family is there all the time. There is much love all the way around. These first two books in this serious are full of honesty between the characters. This book pulls you in from beginning to end. Love Marie Force's writing. I can't wait to read the next book in this series.
Life changing and uplifting romance, an absolute heart-melting swoon-fest
How Much I Care (Miami Nights Book 2) by Marie Force is another amazing romance read from a very favorite author. These characters, Marie and Austin, will grab hold of your heart and burrow in so deep they will probably stay forever. At least that’s how I felt from beginning to the end. I both love and hate how this couple meet. Dire circumstances make it possible for Austin to meet Maria. While the outcome is a healthy little girl, thanks to Maria, it was utterly devastating, traumatic and heartbreaking for Austin. The romantic relationship develops quickly as their pen pal interactions turn into FaceTime chats and then Austin moves his family to Miami for the winter! For Maria! Talk about major swoon. Overall, this book captivated me from the blurb and became an unputdownable must read. No matter what comes their way, Austin is guaranteed to do everything in his power to make it right. The HEA proves it!
Marie Force knocked this one out of the ballpark, pun intended. How Much I Care, the second installment of the Miami Nights series revolving around the extended Giordina family in Little Havana, is a love story with a bit of an unusual storyline. Ms. Force’s strongest skills are character development and unique stories, and she hits both marks with aplomb in this storyline and series. It starts out strong and fast when Maria, a nurse at a Miami free clinic, and Austin, a professional baseball player, are brought together through an unfortunate family illness, and follows them through several months of ups and downs, personal and professional struggles, and family ties that help to bind their relationship even tighter. A delightful read with a quick pace that doesn’t get bogged down, even though the story unfolds over an extended period of time. Highly recommend this book and new series!
Another Great book in the Miami Nights Series. Austin is a major league pitcher for Baltimore. He has a precious two year old daughter named Everly who gets Leukemia. She is in the National Donor Base for transplants and a nurse named Marie, who lives in Miami, is a match. She decides to donate her bone marrow to try to save this little girl. After she donates, there us a year before you can contact her so she waits to find out. Everly's Dad, Austin, sends Marie a letter thanking her and says he will get in touch with her later. After the year is up, they begin writing back and forth and the magnetism is felt by both of them. Ev is just too cute for words and her nickname for Marie is so sweet. I loved the way this story was so full of great characters from the first book in the series and the strong feelings the families give off throughout the story. This is a beautiful love story that will hook you from the beginning and I highly recommend it.
A sweet, single dad, sports romance. I wouldn't say AJ (Austin) and Marie (Re) were an instalove situation, even if it felt like that. Their relationship grew over a period of time having never formally met.
I liked Austin. His daughter Everly was a sweet kid. I like Marie and her family. Marie and Austin seemed to come together so seamlessly until they didn't. There was a bit of angst in the relationship. There were a couple of painfully sad moments with both Austin and Marie. I thought the way Marie's family stepped up and helped her work through her issues was great.
I was surprised at the situation with Austin's ex. I am not sure why that part was necessary. I expected something different.
Of course, Austin and Marie (and Everly) got their HEA. I listened to the audiobook. I thought the narration was good. I was glad there were both a female and male narrator telling the story. I thought they both handled Ev's voice well. I would give this book 3.5 stars.
I thought book 2 was so much better than book 1. The love between Maria and Austin progressed and moved along in a more realistic fashion. Maria a bone marrow donor saves Austin's daughter's life, but the two are corresponding anonymously without finding out the real name of the recipient family and donor for a year. The two become very close over weekly emails and fall for each other before actually meeting. Maria finds out that Austin is famous baseball pitcher in Boston and she lives in Miami. The two meet and everything is hot and heavy with baby girl Everly loving Maria as well. Maria a nurse at the free clinic is aware but kind of appalled at the amount of money that Austin makes for pitching a ball, but the two work it out as her abuela states it is just as easy to fall for a rich guy as a poor guy. Maria was definitely a kind and good person. Look forward to the next installment with book 3 and cousin Dee.
