This early twentieth-century translation by the Jewish Publication Society bears all of the hallmarks of a classic work. This edition of the Torah brings together one of the most beautiful renderings of the Hebrew Bible in the English language with an introduction by Rabbi Rodney Mariner that sets the tone of this magnificent historical text. The classic 1917 Jewish Publication Society that brings alive the history of the Jewish people in a way not many have witnessed before. In addition to the Torah, synoptic contents have been added to the beginning of each book in order to help the listener locate the better-known events and their themes
This is for the audio version. Love the content, absolutely 5*, just had an ongoing struggle with the narrator and ended up not wanting to listen to anymore at around 82%.
Finally made it through from beginning to end. I had attempted to read it before, but I found it so much easier to listen... So, this is The Book? I was surprised at how redundant this text is. I am glad to know now what is contained within the Torah, so I can better understand my heritage and the foundation of modern monotheism. Looking forward to reading the Bible and the Qur'an next.
Not something you can rate. Possibly, likely the most read book of all time in all the world, with wars/endless conflicts about what is actually in the book.
