The United States is in chaos. Fleeing his hometown, Joel accompanies Helen on a dangerous cross-country trip, hoping to reunite her with a mysterious prepper group her grandfather belonged to. Danger lurks around every corner in Chicago as Big T and his companions strengthen their base of operations - but all good things come with a cost in Storm's Fury Book 3.
Tired of the usual post-apocalyptic tale? Welcome to your new addiction.
Storm's Fury is a new, epic saga from #1 best-selling authors Mike Kraus and Justin Bell.
The skies above America darken as powerful, corrupt forces inadvertently unleash a disaster of biblical proportions.
In a quiet southern town, a lonely soldier lives each day in a bottle, forever regretting sins and losses of the past.
A young girl, caught up in the cares of the world, has her life ripped apart.
As the fury of the storm closes in on the country, two impossibly unlikely companions are forced to work together to survive - or they will surely die.
Q: “You call this success?” he asked. “I hate to think what you consider failure.” (c)
Now the storm's getting to be a fixture. Fresh venison too.
Helen on cover is wearing boots, I wonder where she got them from, she was in sneakers when Joel saved her. And those were ruined.
Laura: not really believable, did the soldiers knew she was she - long before actually seeing her or did they want to 'light up' any girl moving around?
Q; “Just...living. What’s the point of living if there’s nothing to look forward to? Nothing outside of our day-to-day lives?” “What else do you need?” Laura asked. “Human contact. Human emotion. Love. None of that is gone, it’s all still there. Just because your favorite Hollywood blockbuster might never come out doesn’t mean that life’s not worth living. You just need to re-evaluate your priorities. I think we all do. Remember what’s really important.” Jack nodded again, though he didn’t seem all that convinced. “Look,” Laura said, touching his shoulder. “You’ve lived your whole life in the bubble of the Internet. Social media, video games, the events in your life measured by release dates, downloadable content, the latest movie trailer. All of that stuff, it’s just commercialized bullshit. It’s not life. What we’re doing here? Breathing, giving people a respectful burial? Fighting so we can survive? That’s real. What you’re experiencing right now, the thrill of living to see another day, the joy of watching the sunrise, knowing you’re above ground and not beneath it? That’s enough. At least, it should be.” (c) Q:
The first 3 books in this series are done and there is still a lot of stuff to learn about what's going on which kept me interested in reading more of the series. This book was well written and fluid even though it jumps around between characters in different places. There was plenty of action for action fans and also more in depth looks at the main characters. I am interested to see what happens next.
Ex-army Joel Robertson and his young companion in adversity, 14 year old Helen Zhou, are trying to get from Louisiana to find Helen's Mom, now her Dad's dead. The eponymous Present Danger, (Book 3 in Justin Bell and Mike Kraus' epic post-apocalyptic thriller series, Storm's Fury) is the aftermath of the global disaster, caused by the interaction between seemingly bona fide environmental protection equipment and thousands of nanobots, put into the atmosphere to reduce global warming, but actually concealing two much more sinister missions entangled covertly within.
Meanwhile Laura Parks is being used by those who masterminded the latter, as a scapegoat for the loss of millions of lives. Rogue US Government bigwigs have arranged for the murder of all the team involved in the benevolent cover operation, Project Heatshield. When she escapes the execution squad, Laura meets up with Jack a squaddie from the hit team, who saves and flees with her to what they hope will be safety with her sister in Wyoming.
Can the disparate couples survive danger, dehydration, injury and impending doom to reach their goals? Who is Shawna - why does she feel safe t the Stronghold - and who wants to change that?
A story of honour, bravery, integrity and strength to survive by helping others rather than just themselves leads to clashes and fatalities in skirmishes with psychotic egotists, government skulduggery and corruption against a global disaster that will change everyone's world (even more than the Covid-19 pandemic, which you'll forget about completely while reading), in Justin Bell and Mike Kraus' gritty dramatic end-of-the-world adventure, Present Danger. There is a lot of action in this fairly short book and we find more information on a possible sinister catalyst for the disaster. I do lament that in this series (and others of the genre) there can be so few good people around. I am starting to like Joel and Laura a little better and Helen is becoming more than a conflicted teenager. The CEO of Atlas story line seems to move very slowly as each day she tries to decide when she should leave (running low on food might be a hint), but she does have access to some interesting information on the bad players in the disaster. I look forward to the next book.
As the story continues and the characters develop more fully into a very intriguing journey. The manmade disaster is apparently not an accident but a plot to take down the United States by none other than the psychopathic Secretary of Defense. Joel and Helen are ambushed on their journey to Wyoming. Laura and Jack find a nice farmhouse in Washington but trouble drives right up on them. The complex in Chicago is coming together but a violent encounter almost ruins everything. A traitor is working against them.
Somehow these separate groups of people have found a way to survive. Strong wills are bending and accepting the fact that they need each other. People need others to care and to help. No one can truly stand on their own. But they have faced one crisis after another and have managed to care about each other and forge through incredible circumstances. I can't wait to read the next one!
Shawna has developed a Stronghold in Chicago, but Chad lurks outside seeking revenge. Joel & Helen continue on their journey to Wyoming, but come under seize by a ragtag group of rebel miners. Meanwhile, Laura and Jack head to Wyoming from a different trajectory, always a step ahead of trouble. What do Pike and his nefarious plotters have in the works? Stay tuned for plenty of action.
Highly recommend. The scene where Laura and the dog are trying to get away from the place. They were on some sort of tracks and I guess they were up high off the ground I don't know. All that description sure didn't explain or give me a picture in my mind understand it. You need pictures.

I really like these book. Well written and has a good plan. He does not repeat lines or keep going back to explain happenings like a lot of the better writers are doing.
The individual parts of the story continue. Some have shown a relationship to other groups and their journey toward an objective. Other groups are being introduced. Book four is ahead.
Fast paced to the point where I can hardly turn pages fast enough. Good to see beloved characters go through hell and come out stronger. Many questions answered, lots of new ones. These are terrific books.
Justin’s storytelling is top notch. The complexities between Chicago, rural Oklahoma and Washington DC create a compelling web of activity and conflict. I have already downloaded the next book and can’t wait to dive right back in!
The Saga continues from where we left off in the previous book and the pages just keep turning, why have I never read Justin Bell before? He is so easy to read and I am completely engrossed in the story. At first I thought that this was only a four part series but now I know that it is eight parts, if every part is as good as the first three then I just relish the thought and If it went to ten or twelve parts I would be Just as happy. Anyway, Joel is becoming more protective of young Helen as they strive northward, on horseback, on a journey to hopefully find her mother but peril follows them every step of the way especially when they come across a small mining town. Laura and John, the soldier who is now wounded, are now trying to get around Washington without running into anybody because that in itself, as they already know, usually means trouble and because the land is now officially under the rule of Martial Law there is anarchy and lawlessness everywhere. Meanwhile in Chicago, Shawna has become the trusted leader of the compound that she has built, in the flats, with the help of her bible selling friend Tristan, the veteran soldier, they have recruited some of his ex army buddies to help with security as they make plans, together with their small committee, to find food but the streets are rife with danger and if you are caught out in the curfew you could be shot with no questions asked. Let this brilliant story just keep rolling on. It won’t be too long until I read the next instalment, I just need a breather. Thank you Mr Bell!! Another 5/5
