When I asked to review this particular book I was expecting it to be more of an activity book so when I opened it up I was pleasantly surprised to see that it wasn't one. Instead the book follows along in a sense the I Spy and Where's Waldo books in its presentation.

In this particular book the reader is taken into a small introductory page that explains the importance of oceans while every following two-page spread explores a part of the various ocean habitats that can be found. And then to close the book up there is a small part on how you can help to save the oceans and its animals.

The way the search and find works is each page is given an introductory paragraph to explain the habitat and then there is a box in the upper hand corn with a selection of animal denizens that may be found there. Each animal or plant is given its picture right alongside a paragraph giving some facts about it. On the right hand page is another box that gives the reader some extra animals, plants or items to find if they would like to look further and a closing tip.

The book isn't that challenging but it does really make you look since although some animals and plants are easy to find they bury or hide others so that you have to look closely to make sure that you have found the right one such as the flounder. Other possible problems was on some pages like the deep sea where the color palette is quite dark to fit the environment.

And I have to give props for finally showing the blobfish as it really is. Thanks so much!

All in all it was a fun book and one that I particularly enjoyed so I knows kids who like animals or need something to do would really enjoy this book even if they don't read it.

Love this book!

So much fun and information is packed into a small book at less than 50 pages.

The artwork is unique, not vibrant, but easily draws the reader into the pages. I love that each search and find encompasses a different aspect of ocean life and location. There are also numerous facts on each page and story, that truly adds to the scene being shown to the reader. This book definitely will entice the child to want to learn more about ocean life and how it interacts with people where ever they may be.

I received a complimentary copy of this book from Callisto Publishers/Rockridge Press and was under no obligation to post a review.

“The ocean also has many secrets. In this book, you’ll get to explore and discover some of them,” Beth and Josh Hestermann write at the beginning of their book, Ocean Animals! A Search and Find Book for Kids.

~ What ~
This forty-eight-page paperback targets children ages four to eight years old who enjoy educational search-and-find activity books, especially if they involve sea life. With no profanity or too scary scenes, there are multiple animals and creatures of the sea with short descriptions and pictures with sections to find the animals in their habitat.

After a contents page, there are sixteen two-open-pages that display a large scene of sea life. A paragraph about the designated habitat is in the left corner with six animals or fish with small pictures on the top of the page. The left side has four creatures to also find in the large illustration. One of the last pages includes information on how to help with a seek-and-find drawing. The ending has an answer key, a glossary, and authors and illustrator’s biographies.

~ Why ~
Our six-year-old granddaughter loves educational books about marine life, and this one has colorful drawings of the animals with the added feature to find them on its pages. I appreciate the information on habitats of a tide pool, kelp forest, deep sea, coral reef, arctic, and coastline plus descriptions of the keyhole limpet, cuttlefish, harbor seal, pilot fish, gribble, blobfish, vulcan octopus, brain coral, olive sea snake, cane toad, manatee, beluga, orca, and osprey.

~ Why Not ~
Young children or those with visual disabilities may not like this book. Some may find there is limited information on the highlighted creatures. Others may prefer photographs instead of illustrations in this type of book. Beginner readers may be frustrated with the two- and three-syllable words.

~ Wish ~
I wish an index on the habitats and sea creatures could be included in the book for quick reference.

~ Want ~
If your child is fascinated by the ocean and enjoys an educational book that includes a fun search-and find-activity, this is a perfect answer to a stay-at-home day. Our granddaughter will be delighted to find her favorite sea creature, the narwhal, in it.

Thanks to Callisto Publisher’s Club and the author for this complimentary that I am under no obligation to review.

Like its companion book, Zoo Animals: A Search and Find Book for Kids, this book helps parents expose their children to the wonderful world in which we live. Whereas the first book focuses on wild animals located in a zoo, this one’s emphasis is on animals found in the world’s oceans. Both help children become familiar with animals and their habitat.

The authors, Bethanie Hestermann and Josh Hestermann, have done a great job of highlighting certain special animals found in and near oceans. The illustrator, Sara Lynn Cramb, has done a marvelous job picturing the animals and the habitat.

Each page includes animal habitats along with those animals found in those locations. The authors give a short explanation about the animal, their habitat, and often about their habits. The illustrator has drawn pictures which include the animals. You may need to help your child at this point, but not too much. Often the animals are hidden behind other animals or natural habitat. The idea is to help the children see how the animals would really look in nature. Fortunately, the authors have included answer keys to the pages. This keeps your child (and you) from getting too frustrated as they trying to find a particular animal. They are not always obvious or easy to find.

This book is challenging for children of all ages (even adults), but it will give hours of entertainment along with a brief introductory education to the animals who share this world we call home. In closing, the authors have shared information (and pictures) about how we, humans, are polluting the world in which these animals (and we) live.

Upon request, the publisher, with no preset conditions, sent me a copy of the book to review.

I requested to review this book and Zoo Animals: A Search and Find Book for Kids since my preschooler is into the Look-and-Find books now, the oversized board book types with all the familiar characters hiding in different scenes. I didn't have my hopes set high, but I thought maybe it would be nice to search for real animals instead of cartoon characters for a change. But I was really pleasantly surprised by both books!

Each page is illustrated in the style of the cover image, with lots of ocean animals and occasionally objects to find. There are 14 different environments to search, such as Kelp Forest, Great Barrier Reef, and Mangrove Swamp. Facts about each environment as well as each animal to be found are included on each page. The final scene tasks you with finding pieces of trash hidden in the ocean and discusses how we can help protect our oceans and keep them clean. An answer key and glossary are included at the back of the book. Overall, I think this is a great search-and-find book for kids (and grown-ups too - many of the animals had me stuck searching for a while!) that includes a lot of interesting scientific facts about ocean animals and environments.

This search and find book has tons of wonderful facts and information about the ocean! The illustrations are colorful and vibrant with all those tiny details to look for in the scenery. The scenes cover a multitude of areas, including tide pools, coral reefs, arctic oceans, shipwrecks, the deep sea, and swamp lands.

Each page is loaded with factoids and interesting information about ocean creatures, and a sample picture of what to look for in the scene. There are facts about mammals, fish, coral, plants, crustaceans, sea birds, and even geological formations found in the ocean like thermal vents.

The only thing I didn't like is how the colors tend to blend in with each other, making it more difficult to see what you are searching for, and a lot of the items are half hidden behind other things, making it difficult to find them. I wouldn't recommend this for little kids, but ages 7-10 would enjoy the challenge.

My whole family loved this book! My 2 yr old sat still for a whole ten minutes while we did the search and find portion. That’s huge for this energetic little boy!

My husband and I loved the information provided, we even learned a lot from this book. My husband particularly liked that there was a great diversity of ocean creatures to learn about! Not just the regular animals you see in other ocean books (sharks, whales, etc).

We enjoyed each page showed a different ocean habitat. Especially glad that this book included environmental impact (like garbage) and the importance of our part to keep the ocean clean!

My favorite part of this book was that it is exciting and interesting to all age readers. Something to entertain small kids and info to attract older kids.

The illustrations were great. Though some of the darker colors blended together, which might make it hard to spot some items. However, there is an answer key in the back.

I was given an opportunity via the publisher to read Ocean Animals: A Search and Find Book for Kids. I voluntarily chose to review this children's book and my opinion is freely given.

Kids will have fun exploring the ocean, as each page directs them to look for the ocean creatures in the picture. The book is full of facts about assorted sea life and introduces children to the different areas in which one might find these creatures. For example, the authors describe the tide pool as pockets of seawater left behind when the tide retreats. Full of living things, children are taught about creatures like the hermit crab, sea lettuce, and giant sea star.

Looking for creatures within the larger picture will provide hours of fun. The brightly colored pages are inviting and appealing to children within a wide age range. Ocean Animals is a great gift for young ocean life enthusiasts and I highly recommend it.

I was provided with a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher in exchange for my honest review

In "Ocean Animals: A Search and Find Book for Kids" there are very colorful, kid-friendly illustrations of various ocean habitats from the Coral reef to the deep sea!

In addition to the main event illustrations, this book provides some brief information blurbs for children about the different animals who reside in the ocean habitats, including some information throughout the book about protecting the environment and what kids can do to help keep our oceans clean and healthy. I can see this being a really great interactive reading experience for parents and children to enjoy together!

I'm so very impressed with this book and how far Search and Find books have come since I was a kid myself!

This little book has sixteen two-page spreads that show different ocean scenes, from the beach, to the deep sea, and a shipwreck, sharing the various ocean animals and plant life that you could find in each. I really enjoyed the ocean conservation focus that will teach children the importance of keeping our beaches and oceans free from the trash that could endanger the health and safety of these animals. Sara Lynn Cramb did the illustrations, and they are bright and colorful and will help kids recognize all the different types of creatures you can find in the ocean. *Advance copy provided by the publisher in exchange for my honest review.

Not only is this a search and find book your child will learn about the ocean too. You will learn about the ocean animals, their habitats, and what you can do to keep the ocean healthy. On each double page, you have 6 ocean animals with little facts about them to search for in the bigger picture at the bottom of the pages. Four additional items are listed to search for too. A small blurb about that particular habitat is also provided. Answer key in back of book as well as a glossary. Very nice!

This is a colorful, engaging search and find book that have pictures with pictures for you to find on each double-page spread. Each to-find picture is accompanied by its name and a short description. There are interesting facts and some bonus items for you to find. The only negative for me is that some of the to-find items are somewhat obscured by other objects in the big picture. Otherwise, it's fun book that will keep kids entertained.

I received a free copy of this book, but that did not influence my review.

Beautiful illustrations! This would be an excellent book to take on a long car ride or flight as there is lots of information and things to find to keep kids busy. It’s both educational and fun! Although it says it’s for 5-7 year old I think younger kids would enjoy it also. This would be great to take on a trip to the beach. I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

My 2.5 year old loves this book, and mama loves it too. It has wide appeal for toddlers all the way up to early readers. It's a great book to share together -- as your little one looks for each creature, you can read to them fun facts about that animal or its habitat.

Highly recommended.
