“Keep your head up.” He murmured. “You are a Rocchetti now and Rocchetti’s do not show weakness.”

Song : Ariana Grande - Positions

Um, I don’t really have much to say about this because this was me the whole book :

This was supposed to be an arranged marriage slow burn between Sophia and the Rocchetti heir Alessandro, AKA the Godless, but instead the book focuses more on plot than romance. That’s cool, no problem, except the plot was very predictable and the romance???

I just know we went from a cringe-y first time with a two pump chump

Aiight, worship away, sir, we’re def into that but could you maybe please tell us when these new developments happened??
I could’ve sworn y’all didn’t even interact and we spent the whole thing running errands with Sophia, taking care of her dog and thinking of her sister??

Now for the characters, Sophia is definitely not like the other mafia heroines. She’s power hungry, ambitious, trying to be cunning and using every trick she has to get where she wants but idk, I’m not feeling her. Something’s off about her. Or me. Probably me. 👉🏻👈🏻

I really love this book. It is almost my perfect Mafia Romance. It is actually a little creepy because if I were to write a mafia romance for me to read, it would be very similar to this one. When I found it, I was suspicious because it was so perfect for me and I was thinking how I hadn’t read it before and maybe I did and didn’t like it, but it was a recent release!

I loved Sophia! It is a huge pet peeve of mine when mafia heroines who were raised in the mafia are absolute idiots about the mafia. They talk back, are rude, etc. Which wouldn’t fly, realistically. Sophia was strong, but knew when to keep her mouth shut.

I liked Alessandro, other than his uncanny ability to tell if Sophia was lying. It got to the point where it was a little annoying. I didn’t really like him in the beginning, but I warmed up to him, which is perfect for a mafia romance.

Overall, I would definitely recommend this book! I really loved it and I can’t wait for more from this author!

Everyone is scared of the hero because he is the mafia boss and the heroine is sweet, naive, virgin. The first sex scene was really awkward. They just have sex and it wasn't sexy at all, rather very uncomfortable.

I wanted romance but there was nothing romantic. It was filled with tons of unnecessary fillers. The plot heavily focuses on only the mafia. However, the plot is very predictable. It's more like a story about a girl who slowly becomes a strong woman in the mafia world.

4 STARS!!
My marriage was more akin to a sacrificial virgin being ritualistically offered to the heathen gods.
Arranged mafia marriages are one of my absolute favorite tropes and I was NOT disappointed here!

Plot in a nutshell: Sophia is a sweet and dutiful daughter who's being married off to Alessandro, the don's vicious grandson.
"You are beyond reproach, aren't you? Like a trained monkey."

I bit my tongue. It took hard work being a woman in this world, and even I stumbled a few times a day.
But that's just on the surface. There was so much more to both of these characters than met the eye and watching them figure each other out was a real treat.
"You invite me to respond, to take off my mask. But the moment I do, and you see something you don't like, you tell me to put it back on."
I loved their cat and mouse games!

While the story was completely engrossing, I admit that there were some technical problems with the writing; typos, misused words and even changing details within scenes.

But hey, I can live with the raw talent here! I've already finished book 2 and it was also a big win for me.

This book had the same type of entertainment as me staring at the distance when I had to study for my exams, as much as you want to stop, you just can’t!

There’s literally no plot whatsoever, just 400 pages filled with mundane things the h did in a mafia world, but they were throwing random clues of something you can predict in the first 50 pages, so you keep reading because you want to be sure that you are always right with what you guessed.

A very intriguing mafia arranged marriage read.

Sophia was arranged to be married to Alessandro, the cold hearted capo of Chicago and great antihero. What astonished me was that, while it was arranged, no one was delighted with that matrimony!!
Sophia was very well played, but after getting acquainted with the mafia circle she ‘woke up’ and started playing smarter!

The story’s spotlight was not on romance. It was focused on introducing and familiarising with Sophia’s character, mafia relationships and running affairs.
There were many spelling and grammatical errors, yet the story was intense, intriguing and had a lot of twists.

I don’t think the author chose the titles of this trilogy with no reason! 😈

Well, finally a mafia book where the heroine doesn't fall in lust or love 5 minutes into the story.
Book 1 in a trilogy, Bloody Bride is told from the heroine POV.
It opens with Sophia on her wedding day to Alessandro, capo in the Chicago Outfit. She is terrified of him and his family.
Married life starts off with a bang for her as the wedding party is attacked in church by the Irish and she has to kill someone.
She then moves to Alessandro's appartment but she lives in constant fear that she will say or do the wrong thing and he will beat or even kill her. And he doesn't help things
Her life as a mafia bride is pretty boring and she mostly keeps away from Alessandro.
Most of all, I liked that Sophia's situation is not romanticized. She has to navigate turbulent waters with her new family and lives in constant fear. She plays dumb a lot of the time but she is actually smart and driven.
There is no romance in the book what so ever with all the politics and fear and it was refreshing.
There is something brewing in the backround but the plot twist is pretty predictable. However, the writing is compelling enough that I will start book 2.

There was a time I wondered whether this book was supposed to be romance.... Because the hero and the heroine barely interacted. They had sex once, and it was an awful one, then they never spent time together again.... For quite sometimes.

Now that the twist is revealed (which if you're good at predicting it, it's quite obvious), they had spend a little more time together, I get the vibe of the book.

It was actually quite good, despite not being that steamy, I think the heroine is one interesting character. She's skittish yet talkative, fearful yet smug, ambitious yet wanting to fit in the mold.

I can tell, she's a villainess in the making and I can't wait for when that moment will come.

idk this wasn't objectively bad it was just underwhelming. there's not much of a romance plot to begin with cause the storyline relies heavily on the mafia and it just felt like nothing much was happening the whole book. alessandro is supposed to be this big bad scary man everyone fears but it's not really shown its just repeated over and over by the other characters. i didn't much care for either of the main characters although their scenes with polpetto were cute. the last few chapters were enjoyable but overall very predictable.

3.5 Arranged marriage mafia book.

Everyone is scared of the Hero - seeing as hes the leader. Would have been nice to see him show some affection/love to heroine or come across as possessive but sadly he wasn’t any of that.

Heroine is pretty good. I actually enjoyed that she knew what mafia life was about. She feared her husband because of the things she had heard. I dislike when heroines get so bitchy aka sassy (from the get go) with someone who is supposed to be feared. I enjoy nicer, meek heroines haha

I actually enjoyed this overall but (ofcourse) afew things irritated me. One (of 2) sex scenes happens after heroine has just been attacked, I will never understand how one can be horny after being attacked. I would be huddled in a ball crying! At the point the attackers body is still there.

Heroine mentions she’s pregnant and the Hero says something along the lines of “is it mine?” WHY? Shes hardly a whore!!

Anyways ends on cliffhanger. Might be 3 books which I usually don’t enjoy. 2 books for one couple is enough. I’ll read the next one when its out and take it from there.

Bloody Bride.... wow that title alone is what intrigued me. First time read by this author and you know what the storyline...plot... drama...action events sensational...five stars to the max! And let's not forget about those steamy scenes. Ugh huh you what I'm talking about. The kind that is slow building and when it does come to a head....bam... freaking orgasmic! Yeah over here fanning my read face and all...jeeeeeeesh so intense! Absolutely loved it!

“You, Sophia Rocchetti. I worship you.”

I already love Sophia Rocchetti so much. And hopefully book 2 will give me at least a little more of Sophia and Alessandro together, I'm so curious to see how their relationship (or, what's left of it) is going.

I really liked the heroine Sophia - on the surface the perfect dutiful mafia daughter and then wife - obedient, chatty, not very bright and harmless, yet over the course of the book, we find she is a lot more...Some that are not necessarily nice traits (materialistic, arrogant, power hungry, a liar) but also loving and loyal. It was refreshing that she was morally ambiguous.
Alessandro was an enigma - which I love. He didn’t seem enamoured with Sophia in the beginning...the wedding night - eeek. But that made it more interesting. Thank God no insta love and body betrayal syndrome. Horrayyyy!
The twist in the end was predictable and was easily guessed early on but that didn’t deter my enjoyment of the book. Will be reading the next one ASAP.

Thanks Jewel for the recommendation!

Literally what was the point of this book? The plot is bad, not thought through and similar to the hundred other books that are circling right now because arranged marriage trope is a hot topic again.
I seriously didn't want to shit on this book because it looks like the author is new, young and has put so much work into it. I would also suggest for her to get an editor because there are some serious grammar mistakes in the book.
As for the characters, they could have been written much better. idk maybe they should have had a personality or something. Polpetto was the only one tolerable. cutie.

I just randomly decided to read this and I really enjoyed it. I'm in slump and I finsihed it only in hours so it should tell you that 😂 It was a short book and it was surprising good. I love Alessandro and Sophia, Idk if it was just me but their moments were really good, even tho it wasn't much romance focused I loved it. I'm looking forward for more of this two in next books ❤️ The story was interesting and the plot twists were good. I was kind of expecting the twist with the sister. THE END WHERE HE SAID HE WORSHIPED HER? OH I LOVE~ 😩 I don't want to spoil much so I will just say I like Cat at all but we shall see how it goes in book two.

Kind of obsessed with this series. It's actually really difficult to find good mafia romance. The plot and the romance in The Bloody Bride are incredibly slow burn, but with a simmering tension that lends itself to every interaction that takes place in this book and explodes near the last chapter.

Sophia is an incredibly interesting protagonist. Instead of being a naive girl thrust into the mafia world by a man, she grew up in that lawless environment and appreciates the power and status it lends her, though she lies to herself about her desire for both of those things. The society she lives in is extremely patriarchal, but instead of pushing against that like her sister did, she goes with the flow and manipulates things to her advantage within the system. She's a sweet character, always worrying about her family and trying to treat everyone around her with kindness, but she barely blinks an eye when someone who betrays her husband is tortured, and she won't hesitate to kill to protect her family as well. I adore her. She's so complicated.

Then we have Alessandro, who's harder to read. If you prefer your male leads to be alpha and stoic, you'll probably really appreciate him. He's a calculating character, who's rarely given to outbursts of emotion, but you can sense all his hidden begrudging feelings for Sophia underneath the surface. He kind of reminded me, in some small way, of Jericho Barrons. I hope the next book delves deeper into his character, because he's so enigmatic and captivating. I love his and Sophia's barbed, tension filled banter.

Sophia is forced to take a stand against someone very dear to her in the last chapter, someone who hates the mafia's corruption and is seeking to take it down from the inside with the help of the FBI. At first I thought she'd turn on her husband, who obviously isn't loyal and betrayed her trust, but she doesn't. She thinks the government is just as corrupt and isn't willing to give up the power and familial connections she has. Plus, she has a baby to think of. It's all very complicated, and I'm wondering how the romance is going to play out after these shocking revelations.

4 stars, this was a super slow burn even though alessandro and sophia get married in the first chapter. there’s absolutely zero insta-lust they don’t really feel attraction until like halfway through the book which was unique and believable considering the arranged marriage situation. i really loved that sophia’s father was part of the outfit and her father worked for alessandro’s family because it established her familiarity with all the other characters. the reasoning for their marriage made sense at the end and i’m really interested to see how the relationship progresses now that sophia’s pregnant.

For a debut book this was great! It kinda reminds me of Cora Reilly's books, bc some of the names were also mentioned in those books, but this one was more focused in the mafia world than the romance.

Sophia is a 22 yo woman who is forced to marry the prince mobster of Chicago's outfit, aka Alessandro Rocchetti. On her wedding day, she faces an attack from the Ireland's mafia.

Since then, she starts learning more about the mafia world as defending herself, knowing what to say or what to not, do her job as wife, etc.

I enjoyed the mystery behind her sister's death, the Rocchetti family, etc. But I do wish there was more romance + steam as the mafia world usually have.

It also includes pregnancy so if you like that trope, you will like it. I kinda expected the big plot twist of the book but well I liked how it was handled.

Another thing I loved is that the heroine ain't dumb, since she keeps digging to find out what she doubts.

I will read next book and I hope there is more romance and some good plot twists!

Loved every word of it😍

This book not only got me out of the biggest book slump ever but it also reconciled me with the mafia romance genre❤
I loved everything about it the mystery, the suspense, the multidimensional characters and above all the pace👌

The fact that the story was only told by the heroine a.k.a Sophia’s POV added A LOT to the mystery surrounding the male lead (Alessandro & His dreadful family) and I kinda really appreciated that (not a thing that happens to me often with me being more of a dual POV kinda girl😆

Not gonna lie, I tend to get bored really easily while reading mafia romances and if there's one thing I hate above all is when a book tries to drown the reader with unnecessary descriptions THIS BOOK HAD NONE OF THAT🙌🏻

it was the perfect balance of details, angst & suspenseful storyline I ended being literally sucked in from the 1rst chapter and couldn't let go (basically read it in one sitting)😁

Not the best thing I’ve read this year but at least this was not the usual mafia romance book with lack of a back plot.

I’m hoping Sophia to develop something more than the trophy wife facade because she has potential.

Also the smut was poorly written. There you go, I said it.

I usually don’t read trilogies because, well, I need to really connect with the story to continue reading.

So we’ll see but the book was ok. Some things were predictable but at least it kept me entertained.

First 60% of the book = 1 stars almost DNF
Last 30-40% of the book = 3 stars

And IF the first 60% of the book weren’t so excruciatingly boring, would’ve been a 4 stars!

This story is about Sophie and Alessandro. It starts with their arranged marriage - their wedding and wow it starts with a BANG.

Sophie has always been told to be scared of her husband because he’s known in the mafia world as terrifying and “godless”. Her dad tells her to keep him happy, stay quiet and not to stir any problems. And so she does. She’s docile and so freaking boring and character-less just cause she’s scared he hurts her even tho for the first month he never so much as threatens her and he even tells her he would never hurt her but she still thinks he would so she plays her role. Too bad that role made the first 60% soooo SO SO SO SO BORING.

There was this part where alessandro says:

“I’m sick of you pretending to be the perfect wife. You sing such pretty words, wife, but none of them are true.”

My heart was pounding. Everything I had been taught to do was annoying him.

Yes yes annoying him and annoying me too (Bare in mind that quote happens at 47%.

So until 60% they barely have any interactions. We read about her walking and visiting people. It literally made me so sleepy to read the first 60%! If this part was shortened to 20% and she started speaking up then it would’ve been soooo much better. Because of her docile nature, even when she’d say a joke she’d wanna apologise. And he’d say don’t apologise. Anyways, cause of this, there was also 0 connection or chemistry between Alessandro and Sophie. Hell if I was him I wouldn’t wanna be around her either.

Thank GOD at 60% she starts acting a bit more normal and finally an actual plot begins ... and a pretty good one! So this author can write, it’s just the first 60% were filler I guess? I don’t even know.

The author also could’ve used the 60% for the MCs romantic storyline. To have their relationship develop here. Cause by the end when he says he “worships her” I was like huh???? So it would’ve been amazing to see stuff happening in the first 60% to give readers time to follow the MCs relationship.

Anyways, you start feeling chemistry between the MCs. The storyline is very interesting and Sophie actually speaks. I like that she’s actually strong and funny. And I really really enjoyed the last bit of the book so will go into the next one once it’s out - I just hope it’s not the same as this.

I would recommend this book, but I’d recommend skimming. Until you get to the juicy bits.

So I picked up this book because I wanted my Mafia Romance fix and I got it.

I was really not expecting this book to be this good! I thought it was going to be a solid 4 stars just reading the blurb and other reviews. Not for me, this book was 5 stars all the way.

I fell in love with Alessandro and Sophia and one thing I didn't expect was the development in the characters. The plot was so well balanced between action and romance, but the character development took me by surprise. The author did an amazing job creating this balance between the plot and characters that I couldn't help but fall in love.

Book 2 here I come.

"We were the only two people in the warehouse but in that moment, we could’ve been the only two people in the entire universe."

well damn im shocked. i actually kinda loved this??? like the plot is so predictable but i couldnt stop reading it. i think its because i just fell in love with alessandro. he's so fine.

this book also has the "who did this to you" trope. AHHHHHHH. mafia men are so hot.

now the reason my rating isn't that high even though i loved it - predictable plot and the writing style was kinda fucking weird.
