Honestly, I don't love this series. I keep waiting for something to happen. I just don't really care about the characters that much either, I would like to see more character growth from them. I'm so close to the end now and I am curious to see how the ending plays out, so I will finish this series.

Konnichiwa a todas, lectoras 🌸
I’m not even sure why these two are dating. More than half of the volume is them being silent with each other - apparently taking some time to think and distancing, but how they could be more distant and what they’re thinking about is a mystery. Nothing gets said, nothing is accomplished, it’s more of silent insecurity, doubts, and inability to do anything. Suiren goes to talk to Atohara for some reason, who gives her….basic advice. IMO, and I think this is kinda cultural, instead of telling her to greet everyone so they don’t feel HER BOYFRIEND is getting special treatment, he should advise her to start ignoring the unwanted feedback. I know it’s hard to say “don’t care about that” but honestly, you can’t make everyone happy and who TF cares what they think? She’s not obligated to make them feel included!
Suiren is a character I have no patience for. She’s weak and wants to get stronger, but doesn’t do anything to work toward that. Kawasumi is also a weird one, since he seems strong but is indecisive and unable to figure out his relationship. I get no real sweet vibes off these two, since they are too polite and quiet with each other. I feel a little sorry for Aya, who has extremely negative feelings towards boys after protecting her all these years, although I think that it probably gives her a sense of purpose. I wish they’d stop drawing her with weird eyes 😓

The series is still cute, but painfully slow going, and the main characters remain repressed in a lot of ways. They take two steps forward, just to take five steps back before trying to step forward again. It's a little strange Suiren reached out to Ato as well, let alone that he's actually sort of helping her, even if he is as blunt as ever in his approach. Both Ato and Kawasumi compare Suiren to Kawasumi's older brother though, so perhaps there's some link there in their mannerisms and how they tend to respond to her. It's good that Suiren is trying to reach out and learn, though it seems her goals may seem more challenging than most given her personality and at this point, ingrained reactions to the peer pressure around her. It's rather sweet to see her step up a bit to help Yuri where her friends are always trying to cheer her on.

Suiren and Kawasumi both admit that their relationship is in a rough patch. He's too caught up in protecting her that he won't even look at her sometimes. She's too shy / socially awkward to speak up for herself sometimes.
Meanwhile, Yuri goes on a date with a guy from the singles mixer; Koharu is stalking Atohira now; and Aya seems to be pining for a love she can't have because she's always stuck playing bodyguard.
i'm really glad they talked honest about their feelings even tho they had to take a break which honestly broke my heart but i can see (and i hope for) the only good waiting for my sweet suiren and kawasumi🥹🫶🏻 i loved how much talkative they were on the summer festival and on their date later! it was so fun to finally see them this way🙂↕️ i can't wait to see how suiren will be acting and changing after talk with ato!😼
btw i wonder if kawasumi will get his own phone soon lol
The main couple was struggling a bit in this one. Things were a tad confusing at times. I was slightly frustrated that they didn’t just talk it out earlier. Hoping to love the next volume, but this one wasn’t quite as good. Though it was nice to see her friend maybe starting a relationship.

Levels of miscommunication that are just painful to watch. Trying to stick it out through the end of this series, but I might just wait to binge the last few volumes so I don’t lose my nerve. 😅
Not loving all the back and forth. this far into a series I would like to see some character development but it feels like we are just standing still stomping. it's getting boring.
Sometimes a couple needs to take a break from each other. Not to separate but to take a break and clear out their thoughts and questions to form a stronger, better future.
This volume was loud in respective to all the previous volumes. It was the first time the “silence” between Kawasumi and Suiren comes crashing down and they realize that not only do they need to know more about each other but also need to communicate more clearly. In this volume, we also see both in a slightly different light. Kawasumi has more animate facial expressions and says things more directly whereas, Suiren is more clear on her feelings and what she needs to do to keep the relationship going.
As I mentioned in my volume 8 review, there is just not enough moments and scenes with Mina and Ryousuke. These two make a brief appearance throughout the volume and honestly things look so great between them and they seem to have a solid understanding. I am interested to know how they built their relationship and would be highly interested if there was a short story or spin-off on them. Aside from this, let’s not forget about energetic Yuri. Yuri is another great personality and we get a good chapter about her first unofficial date!
The art in this volume is similar to the others, expect there are more backgrounds. It was refreshing to see the new backgrounds as it was getting a bit tiresome seeing the school roof and the school’s grassy front yard.
This was a good addition to the series but I disliked it a bit more than usual. I originally didn’t understand why Suiren was feeling uncomfortable and questioning her relationship but it became clear after they made up. Also, I didn’t like the way Suiren kept questioning the relationship because Kawasumi is trying his best and is going out of his comfort zone so I think she needed to trust themselves a bit.
Volume Nine seems to have been the turning point and biggest hill to climb in Kawasumi and Suiren’s relationship. They are getting more comfortable and honest with each other and their friends are also progressing well in their own relationships. It will be interesting to read about what happens next with the latest new development with Atohira.
Kawasumi and Suiren get to a bump in the road and were able to get over it in one piece! And finally, these two have an honest conversation and their relationship gets soooo much better! I loved their cute little date together. Lol at them not liking the same things though. It’s okay. You love who love.
I love these two together BUT Atohira…. Ugh damn him. I’m a sucker for his attitude problem LOL. This is actually my second time reading this series and I remember just loving the idea of him and Suiren together…. Atohira blushing at the end of this volume brought all those feelings back. Damn 2nd lead syndrome!!!!! Haha
