This bad-girl drifter is bad news for his custody case.
Firefighter Clay Marlow might have a colorful past, but priorities became black and white fast when he learned he has a daughter. As the custody battle heats up, Clay’s focus is providing the stability his little girl has never known. His alluring temporary renter, Andie, could only jeopardize his case.
Carrying everything she owns on her Harley, Andie Tyler is only on San Amaro Island to manage her friends’ bar for four weeks. A self-proclaimed drifter with more emotional baggage than a jumbo jet, Andie isn't interested in a forever relationship, even when she finds herself increasingly attached to an adorable girl and her tough-to-resist father. She has secrets and a dark past, and Clay and his daughter deserve better.
The more she pushes him away, the more intrigued he becomes. Andie’s tenderness and strength draw Clay in, and he realizes she’s the vibrant color he and his daughter need in their life. Can he convince Andie to become a permanent part of their family before she rides off again?
Fully Involved is a stand-alone novel with a heartwarming and satisfying HEA in the Island Fire series.
Amy Knupp is a USA Today Best-Selling author of contemporary romance and a freelance copy editor. She loves words and grammar and meaty, engrossing stories with complex characters.
Amy lives in Wisconsin with her husband, and has two sons, four cats, and a box turtle. She graduated from the University of Kansas with degrees in French and journalism. In her spare time, she enjoys traveling, breaking up cat fights, watching college hoops, and annoying her family by correcting their grammar.
A hot firefighter fighting for full custody of his little girl, a biker chick who has steel in her bones due to a abusive past - they have an attraction that won't be denied.
This had the right ingredients but left me underwhelmed.
Clay Marlow, one of San Amaro Island's fire fighters, is trying to get permanent custody of his three-year-old daughter, and the last thing he has room for in his life is Andie Tyler, a vagabond biker babe with a sketchy past and a defensive exterior. In spite of their best efforts, Clay and Andie's lives and hearts become entwined and three-year-old Payton effortlessly wraps Andie around her little finger. But when Andie’s past catches up with her, will she stay and fight for what she wants or will she hit the road again?
The book world of San Amaro Island is one of my favorites and somehow I had skipped over Clay's story, so I was excited to return to these terrific characters once more. Knupp's books are always a joy to read, with talented writing and professional editing, and Clay's and Andie's story may be my favorite of all the Fire Island books. The books in this series are interconnected but stand alone and can easily be read in any order without the reader feeling like she's missing anything.
I adored Andie's character, a woman who rose above a spectacularly awful past and became self-reliant, but to the exclusion of allowing anyone to be close to her. Until Clay and Payton. Andie acted defensive and tough but had a heart of gold under that tough outer shell. Clay was great too, growing up quickly when he became a full-time father, but he still needed to learn to trust himself. Clay and Andie were great together and each helped the other see their own strengths. Payton was precious, of course, and provided lots of adorableness. Fully Involved is a fun, easy, terrific read, with a little heat, a little humor, and lots of heartwarming goodness, so don’t wait to read this one.
*I reviewed this book freely and voluntarily, having made no commitment to provide a review and receiving no compensation of any kind from any source for this review.
Clay first noticed Andie when she worked at the Shell Shack previously. She left but promised to come back for Macey’s wedding. Clay was a bit of a shadowy figure in the previous stories and we don’t know a lot about him. In this story we find out that Clay has a lot on his plate as he is trying to gain full custody of his daughter, Payton. He needs to avoid anything or anyone that could negatively impact his chances. At first glance Andie is a poor choice for a man in his situation, but looks can be deceiving. Andie was a side character in a previous book and was a woman of mystery. Her past is revealed a bit at a time and you can’t help but hope that things will work out for her and realize that she and Clay aren’t so different. As we get to know Andie and Clay, we see the kind, caring people they are and you just know they belong together. Ms Knupp has such a smooth writing style that the story becomes a fast read. I was torn between wanting to see what happens next and hating it to end. I’m definitely looking forward to the next story in this series. I was given an ARC and it’s a pleasure to voluntarily provide an honest review.
Well, it kind of pains me to give this only a 3-star rating. The first two in the Island Fire series got a solid 4-start rating. Anyway, for some reason, I just didn’t connect with Andie and Clay as I did with the characters in the first two books. There is absolutely nothing wrong with these characters, it was me.
Clay is in a custody battle with his ex-wife. He presently has custody of their three-year-old daughter and she is the light of his life. He does have to tread carefully, though. His ex-wife’s attorney is a shark and will stop at nothing to prove Clay is unworthy of full custody even though the mother is a drug addict. Andie is waging an internal battle as a result of her upbringing and a long-term relationship she stayed in much too long. That is why she never stays in one place very long and refuses to get close to anyone. That internal battle has just become a very real battle, or potential real battle, with her ex who has just been paroled. As attracted to one another as Clay and Andie are, they both know that acting on that attraction is the last thing either of them needs. How long will they hold out?
This series has characters you can connect with (as I said, it was me, not them). It focuses on some typical problems but doesn’t get overly dramatic. It’s more of a good summer read set on a beautiful island with lots of interesting characters. Summer is here and this is a good series to get all the beach feels. (You can even get some ideas on shower games if you ever have to host one of those…..)
I didn't like this book as well as the first two. As we know in books 1 & 2, Andie rides and motorcycle and doesn't have a permanent resident partially because she stays on the 'run' or keeps moving so when her ex gets out of jail, he won't know where she is. Is it that easy?
Andie - unfortunately, she doesn't believe there was anything false about the possibly of Trevor trying to track her down. She could have weeks before he'd caught up with her .... but maybe not. And the other thing she could do about it was keep an eye out for trouble.
The one thing with Clay being a single father was to protect his Payton at all times. His soon to be 4 year old little girl had been through one ordeal after another while she was with her mother. Clay would do anything to protect her from those things that would have a negative impact on her. The one scary thing was when Payton found Andie's loaded gun which Clay told her from the beginning to unload. Another thought he had was to make sure there was nothing standing in his way of getting full custody from Payton's drug-abusive mother.
In the end, Andie had closure from Trevor - never to bother her again and Clay won full custody of Payton and the acceptance from his family, especially his father. He no longer felt like a failure and knew he was a grown man taking responsibly of his daughter.
Do you think Clay and Andie will stay together? You will have to keep reading the rest of the series to find out. Happy reading!
I absolutely loved this story. Probably my favorite in the series. This series takes place in the island of San Amaro, TX. The main characters are firefighters and first responders that are friends, and frequent the local seaside shack owned by one of their guys. This story belongs to Clay Marlow and Andie Tyler, whom we met in book one. Clay is a single Dad trying to get permanent custody of his three year old . Andie is a drifter, biker girl, with a past , tons of emotional baggage and with a heart just as big. She becomes Clay’s tenant and in a short amount of time she falls in love with Pay, his daughter and the attraction between them is evident. But both fear any relationship would jeopardize Clay’s custody trial and try to avoid any physical contact. It was a story that at times was heartbreaking. A reminder that we should not judge people only by their looks. That our childhood and youth will affect us not only as adults but also on what we think of ourselves. That domestic abuse is very much alive. A tragic reality, but still very real. But in the end, if you find someone that sees you for whom you really are , and love you , you should embrace that love and not let it go. Kudos to Ms Knupp for such a touching story. I was gifted this copy. The opinions expressed are solely my own.
Clay and Andie are two realistically imperfect people. They have pasts. They have made bad decisions and have done things that they are ashamed of. They have issues with trusting people. They both have bouts of self doubt. They are both learning to turn their lives around and change. For Clay, it was learning he had a young daughter. Andie chose to start changing when her abusive ex started to break her bones. When they meet in the weeks prior to their friends' wedding, they can see how the other's self-esteem does not match the reality of their current behavior. This story was an emotional journey through their realization of their own growth and how one's past does not need to dictate one's future. II purchased a copy of this book in a collection from the author's e-store and voluntarily chose to share my review.
There are so many things in this series that I love - the family atmosphere of the firefighters, loyalty, humor, strong alpha males with their females who can hold their own, and complexity of the characters - and ability of the author to bring it all together.
It was great to learn more of the back story of Andie Long who was introduced in the first story and the reason why she can't seem to stay in one place for long. And while Clay is trying hard to be on his best behavior so he can get full custody of his daughter, he is only human so it was understandable that he wouldn't want to start a new relationship until after the custody hearing. But sometimes we can't fight what is meant to be. Another great story in this series. Can't wait for more.
Clay and Andie are HOT together with their barely contained chemistry. Andie is reluctant to get involved with Clay, because she doesn't want her past to adversely impact his custody hearing. Payton, his daughter adores her from minute one. I love the way this story plays out, even with the internal emotional struggle each suffers through. Characters worth knowing, a well developed story, incendiary chemistry and sneak peeks into the previous Fire Island Book characters lives make for a great read. Fully Involved is also a fairly quick read; which, with the engaging content, makes it easy to read in one sitting.
I really liked Clay and Andie. I loved Payton. But I found the timeline way too fast.
A year ago Andie and Clay met. Now Andie is back for Derek and Macey's wedding (their story is in book 1). Andie is there for four weeks. In these four weeks, Andie, Clay and Payton (Clay's daughter) must find a connection, fall in love, win Clay's custody suit for his daughter, and break down all of Andie's walls (and she has good reasons to have them). Four weeks! Despite the fact that they are both portrayed very well and really suck you into the story, it just didn't ring true for me...
Standalone. 3rd person all knowing dual point of view. Moderately steamy.
I loved Clay, he is such a decent guy. In the stories before he has been the solid one. He is a single father, raising his daughter. The first time he saw Andie, he was attracted to her but she left. Andie is back to help her friend Macey. She is covering the Shell Shack while Macey and Derrick are on their honeymoon. During her four week stay, she and Clay’s attraction grows. When Andie meets his daughter, Peyton. She finds her adorable and the little girl likes her. One thing leads to another. Then Andie hears her ex is out of prison for beating her up, which sent he to ER. She fears he will come for her. One day she sees him. Can she tell Clay about her past?
This is a story about dealing with pasts, trusting someone enough to let go of some control and allowing yourself to love. Clay is a firefighter and a single dad who is fighting for full custody of his 3 year old daughter while Andie is doing everything she can to take care of herself after being beaten by both her father and the man who claimed to love her. Amy has written an incredible book about strength and overcoming the odds to be happy again. Great characters and a story I didn't want to end.
I was fully involved in this story from the get-go (although I realize that isn't the intended meaning of the title). I've been wanting to know more about Andie...and hoping for Clay to win custody of his little girl (who is adorable). It was wonderful to watch Clay evolve as a father and to see the changes in Andie.
I was given a free copy of this book and am voluntarily providing a review.
4 stars I purchased Fully Involved book 3 in the Island Fire Series by Amy Knupp and this review was given freely. Loaner and Harley rider Andie comes back to town for Derek and Macey's wedding and becomes involved with single dad and firefighter Clay. Learning to trust, accepting love, a struggle with giving forgiveness, a custody struggle, a wedding, and the birth of a baby are just a few of the things that make this complex story so good.
The characters in the Fire Island series suck you in so you want to know more about them. I was intrigued by Andie in the previous books and wanted to know her story. Seeing her face her fears and know she didn't have to run anymore was gratifying. I wanted a little more out of the final scene with her ex. But Clay was there, having overcome his own doubts and he and his young daughter and Andie made a great family.
Angie and Cold are drawn to each other But he has a custody hearing for his daughter Payton Angie with her biker boots, multiple earrings, and tattoos Does not look like she will be a good influence on Peyton Or impress the judge
She also has an ex she is afraid is coming for her Angie doesn't trust anyone but herself of stay in one place for long
Cole has to protect Peyton Can he trust Angie Can he trust himself
We have single Dad very hot and sexy fireman Clay who is in the midst of a custody battle with his ex and Andie, a Harley riding tattooed very sexy woman that Clay just cannot keep off his mind and her growing relationship with his sweet 3 year old daughter is melting his heart. But she has a past, she has secrets. This book has it all, great characters, family, humour, mystery, drama and of course hot, steamy sex. I highly recommend this book.
He’s a single Dad fighting for custody of his daughter. She’s a loner that has come back for the wedding of their mutual friends. She’s great with his daughter but he worries about her biker persona and tries to deny his feelings for her. She wants to be free but he calls to that part that needs and wants love
Biker girl has a sorrid lonely past. Clay is drawn to her, but has temporary custody of his 3 year old daughter, so he can't be exposing them to her and jeopardizing his chance for custody. This is the story of need and choices. Well told, enjoyable, but felt like the ending was rushed.
Different types of people, deep attraction and making it work.
A woman who lives a different type of life and keeps under the radar gets a second chance at life and love. It's deep feelings keep this couple not sure if love will work. Throw in a little girl and you have the makings of a good book.
Another great story in this series. I already knew Clay would be a great guy but it was nice to get to know Andie. There was so much more to her underneath her defenses. I loved seeing everyone from the first couple of stories as well.
Here she was back on San Ansmo island for a friends wedding. Her landlord Clay was there for the wedding rehearsal, he was raising his 3 year old daughter Payton who she adored.
Andie and Clay’s story is one of second chances. They have both survived bad relationships and learning to trust each other makes a great story. Includes a cute, precocious little girl. A quick and easy read with good story development.
This book is so fantastic. The story was great & well writte Andie Clay made story so full of drama & love that you couldn't put it down.Andie finally had to face up to her ex & it wasn't as bad as feared.
I may have enjoyed this book but for the use of The Lords name in vain.... Why the author choose to included the swearing is beyond me... Was not necessary... I also thought Clay calling his daughter "girly" was annoying. " little girl" would have been much better.
A really great story that captured my attention from the very beginning. Lots of heartfelt storytelling is a strong feature of the story and Amy continues to enthrall me. Well worth reading.
A well written entertaining story with believable characters. Even the kid isn't obnoxious. Just enough heat in the bedroom to keep it interesting as well as a touch of suspense mixed with angst. While I was hoping for a more action oriented ending, I wasn't disappointed.
Man oh man. What a great story—and Clay’s daughter, Payton, really adds so much to the story! The storyline is great; the characters really devious; plot was pretty easy to follow; and the HEA was totally amazing. Grab this book today!
