Have you ever had a really bad day? Like the type where you want to just pull the blanket over your head, go back to sleep, and wake up when it’s all over?
Yeah. Me, too.
It all started with a stupid fight. Honestly, I was probably looking a reason to storm out of the apartment and get away from my boyfriend’s disappointed sighs for a few minutes. A walk in the nearest park was just what I needed.
What I didn’t need? To impulsively walk through a ring of strange-looking mushrooms only to end up in the mythical, magical world from my mother’s supposedly made-up fairy tales.
Faerie. I’m in Faerie.
As soon as I cross over, I’m lost. The fairy circle is gone, the trees all look the same, and I don’t have any idea where I am, or how I’m going to get home.
I think I can trust the pixie.
Nope.
Maybe the pair of dwarves who seem so kind?
Yeah. Seem is the key word there.
By the time I’m on my way to the auction block at the Faerie market, I can’t help but stew over all of the ways I’ve been tricked. This sucks.
Jessica Lynch loves to write! She's been writing ever since she was a child, and spent years writing fan fiction before deciding at the end of 2017 to begin focusing on her original works of fiction. A 14-time winner of NaNoWriMo, Jessica has tons of manuscripts waiting to be formed and shaped and introduced to the world -- plus countless more milling around in her brain. She just wishes she could type fast enough to get them all out!
When she's not writing or working, she's either reading, playing with her family of cats in Central New Jersey, rooting for her beloved Mets, or working on her graphic arts skills to bring her characters and cover art to life.
Tricked by Jessica Lynch is a wonderful story to read. This is book 0 in this wonderful start to a brand new series that I have loved reading and I am hooked. I can not wait to read the next book in this wonderful series. I highly recommend this story to everyone who loves reading about fantasy and paranormal romance.

This is a short story in the Imprisoned by the Fae series, about a main character called Helen, who suddenly finds out that some of the tales her mother told her as a child were true. She walked out after an argument with her boyfriend, after he commented on her hair tip colours, which he hadn’t actually noticed was done some two weeks before. Are they too far into their own separate lives that they aren’t really taking much notice of their relationship anymore? She is thinking about all these sorts of matters and trying to calm down after the fight with her boyfriend, when she comes across a strange circus of toadstools. She walks through it only to find herself in a new world.
She is in the Faerie world! There is no sign of any way back to her world and she is completely lost. She hears a voice calling her and thinks it’s a fairy when she sees this small figure flying in front of her, only to be told this is a pixie. The pixie offers to help her, but just leaves her even more lost. Then she comes across a couple of dwarves. The female one offers to help take her to a portal in a nearby market half a day’s walk away. She asks Helen for her silver ring, saying it would fetch a lot of money at the market. Her husband goes off to have a word with people at the market, once they are close, but has ended up making a deal to sell her for lots of gold.
Apparently, being a human in the Faerie world is very rare and extremely valuable to those who want one! Everyone she has met so far, seemed so trustworthy and helpful, but have led her astray. Now she is being put up for sale at the auction block in the market place. If she is bought by a Fae, she had better hope it is a Seelie rather than Unseelie one apparently, not that she knows what the difference is. She’s been tricked by all she has met, but eventually learns the power of her name. Refusing to obey the person who buys her, will lead to further punishment, but she can’t do what they want, especially with how she left matters with her boyfriend.
This is a prequel novella and introduces you to the character at the centre of the story and how she ends up in Faerie. It also shows what actions lead her to the infamous Fae prison, Siucra and the first full length book of the series, Trapped. It was a quick read, but doesn’t give you much background of Helen’s character and life before her fight with her boyfriend. The interactions in Faerie are somewhat brief as well. I received an ARC copy of this book from BookSprout and I have freely given my own opinion of the book above.
„Tricked” marks the start of a brand-new series (Imprisoned by the Fae) by Jessica Lynch. In this six chapters prequel, we meet the main character of the upcoming series (Helen Andrews) immediately before she ends up in Faerie. Helen and her high-school sweet-heart (Jimmy Fuentes) have been together for what it sometimes feels like a lifetime. After ten years they have mostly good days, but something is off, the spark is fading, thus after a foolish barely there fight, Helen just wants to cool down and goes for a walk in the park… and
… ends up in Faerie getting tricked by her inhabitants into a very unexpected situation, only to take a fateful decision that will put her in Siúcra (the Faerie prison) and the setting of the oncoming series.
A very successful prequel, the perfect bite to incite the appetite, without spoil the tale, offers a good insight in Helen’s character, that very wisely changes her name to Elle as soon as she enters Fairy, after all she has been obsessed with Fairy tales since her childhood, devouring every story her mother would tell her, just her luck that Fairy tales and Faerie are not really exactly the same.
The story is well written, a fast read with a good mixture of action and very well-done character descriptions. A very well-rounded prequel that hits the intended objective at the very center… to incite interest for the new “Imprisoned by the Fae” Series.
Exciting Start to a New Series! “Tricked” is the story of Helen/Elle who was walking in the park and walked right into a fairy circle and found herself transported to a fantasy world. Elle, lost in the fae world, runs into tiny fairies, dwarves, and trolls, all out to trick her. This leads Elle to be sold to a fae lord, looking for a sex slave, which eventually leads to Elle going to prison! Check out this prequel to “Trapped” in the Imprisoned by the Fae series to find out how a human ended up in a notorious fae prison. I received a free copy of this book. Having had a bit of fae knowledge before her feet lead her into a fairy circle didnt seem to stop her making class mistakes until her brain catches onto her situation and stops her being at the whims of a high seelie who buys her but when she doesnt give gim permission offers a choice thinking she will pick him over prison BIG mistake on his part as its the 1st choice shes been given since landing there. She may have taken the hardest choice of the 2 but in long term mentally best one for her. Can not wait to read trapped as i love a good twist on the fae kingdom :D
A fight with her boyfriend leads to our heroine being trapped in Fairy where everyone is out to take advantage of her. This is not what she signed up for.
This is a prequel story to the urban fantasy series.
The story is well written, easy to read and just a bit twisted. The characters are well developed and vividly portrayed which helps to bring the story to life. I really liked our heroine and feel for all the stuff she is going through. Overall, this was a great background introduction and I look forward to the series.
Highly recommended

This is the prequel to "Imprisoned by the Fae" that is a side story to "Touched by the Fae". You don't have to read that one to enjoy this short. It's a branch in witch you will find out what happens to Rys after the events in the middle/end of "Touched by the Fae". The story is told from Helen point of view, a girl that just so happens to travel to Fairy by entering a mushroom circle just for fun. :) Every little girls dream right? What she didn't know is that Fairy is not a fairytale land after all but it's full of dangers and every creature is a potential foe. You have to read to find out what happens to her and be prepared to continue the story with book 1 right after!
This is the how it happened to be before the story starts short story leading up to a new series by Jessica Lynch. Helen is an artistic free spirit with a mother who tells fairy stories. She has a fight with her boyfriend and takes a walk to cool off. She walks through a fairy ring and then things start happening. This really is a good short story. I am very much looking forward to reading the series that arises from this story. I would recommend this short story.

This is a novella size prequel to new Fae series about a human woman named Helen who ends up in the Fae realm. This prequel was a great way to introduce readers to the characters of the series and gives some background on just how a human ended up being trapped in a prison in the Fae realm. The author caught my interest and kept it to the end and I am looking forward to the first full book in this series Trapped.

New heroine Ele and our favorite Light Far Rhys in an exciting start of a new series. I really love this world and all the characters and am very glad we get to return to see more if it! I received this arc for an honest review
Helen comes off rather immature and incapable of discussing the issue of her change of hair style that partner failed to notice for 2 weeks. Seriously what women out there would wait 2 weeks for partner to comment on such an obvious change.
This is a brief intro into the main female character of the series. It sets up her backstory a little. She’s a bit too trusting of everything and it was a little irritating, but she learns.
This is going to be an excellent follow up series to the original I love how the characters are already complex and she’s heading for the strangest right of her life.
I enjoyed reading this book because of the intriguing method used to describe being in Fairyland. Almost like "Alice In Wonderland", nothing is quite what you would expect.
Enjoyable fairy story. The good: Faerie, escapism, adventure. The bad: present tense, no conclusion - just drops you off where the first book starts. If you've read other books in this series, you might enjoy this, but if you haven't, it's not really a cohesive story. I realize it's a prequel, but I expected a little more. I can't recommend it on its own.
