I wish I could meet and give Claire Weekes a hug. I read this as an audiobook and her voice was comforting and reassuring.
I like the language she uses in her books which helps to reassure the reader. I also found that in this book she covered important points on how to handle travel anxiety - the days leading up to traveling and what to do while traveling. Definitely very helpful.
If you’re struggling with anxiety and panic, this book alone may not be enough for you to understand and cope with what’s happening but it is a great and helpful resource nevertheless :)

Nice outreach of a concerned health-care practitioner to her clients who suffer nervous disorders. Though directed as a pep-talk for the sufferer, it allows a non-sufferer to have a bit of a compassionate look into the mind of someone with these issues. As with many psychological ailments, the reader might find himself relating to the narratives and benefiting from the prescribed practices for self-help. The author simplifies her message into two actions: loosen and accept. Lack of these skills keeps the sufferer constricting their own energy and living in fear of the fear. The way forward, she seems to promote, is to acknowledge where you are, see the self-defeating ways you have dealt with the problem up until now, and form a clear "baby step" path to a better relation with your mind.

I find Claire's old-school Aussie accent reassuring and comforting. A lot of her work has been rehashed over the years so I didn't find any new information here, but her delivery is unique. You really get the sense she understands panic.

Read the audiobook. It was short and her accent and tone seemed to help. It was a bit focused on nervous housewives and was a bit dated talking about cassette tapes, but it all boiled down to Acceptance and Loosening.

I didn't like the set up of the book quite as well as hope and help for your nerves although it contained a lot of the same information.

I feel about this book, the same way I feel about therapists that I just don't gel with. It totally rubbed me the wrong way. BUT that doesn't mean it won't help you.

Thank God for Claire Weekes. Her books literally saved my life. Her books were written years ago therefore some of the terminology is outdated but her method works.

A nice little book, possibly a bit dated, but not irrelevant. Addresses what it says it does
