Τι τη συνέδεε μαζί του;

Όμως ο Άλεξ δεν της έλεγε τίποτα που ήθελε να μάθει -ούτε της εξηγούσε γιατί αντιστεκόταν στην αναμφισβήτητη ερωτική έλξη που υπήρχε ανάμεσα τους. Ποια ήταν κάποτε η σχέση τους; Τι της έκρυβε; Και τι θα συνέβαινε όταν η Σάντσια θα ανακάλυπτε την αλήθεια για τον άντρα που είχε αρχίσει να ερωτεύεται ... για δεύτερη φορά;

Elizabeth Power

Following in her father's footsteps, Elizabeth Power wanted to be a writer from a very early age. Once she realised that copying Rupert Bear stories word for word from her albums wasn't really the thing to do, she was on her way!

By the age of fourteen, Elizabeth had produced her first full-length novel—alas! never published—and by the age of fifteen her teenage years meant life was so full that all literary ambitions became somewhat overshadowed.

Married in her early twenties, Elizabeth found that the needs of the home became her priority. Despite the ever present nagging little voice in her conscience that constantly reminded her of those unfulfilled writing ambitions, the creativity had stopped.

A few weeks before her thirtieth birthday, Elizabeth was thinking about what she had done with her first thirty years and realised she had been telling herself that she would "start writing tomorrow" for at least twelve of them! She couldn't help wondering, "whatever happened to that dream?" Within two weeks her "tomorrow" would come when fate took a hand in the form of redundancy!

Writing was now Elizabeth's life. After several attempts, the letter that was to change her life arrived from Mills & Boon. They wanted to publish her book. The novels flowed, and they have continued to publish her books ever since.

Living in England's beautiful West Country, she likes nothing better than taking walks with her husband along the coast or in the adjoining woods, and enjoying all that nature has to offer.

Travelling ranks very highly among Elizabeth's pleasures, and so many places she has visited have been recreated in her books.

Of her writing, emotional intensity is paramount. She says, "Times, places and trends change, but emotion is timeless." A powerful storyline with maximum emotion set in a location in which one can really live and breathe whilst the story unfolds is what she strives for.

Heroine has that distinctive Harlequin brand of selective amnesia that has blocked out the parts of her life having to do with the hero. And who could blame her? Jilted by a two-timing con man only to have a one night stand with his brother resulting in pregnancy, marriage of convenience, a venomous mistress, and a miscarriage. No wonder she stepped in front of a car!

Two years later, hero happens upon her by chance and decides to take her back to Bermuda, the place of their initial meeting, to exercise some memory-reviving therapy. Unfortunately for him, the ex-mistress who won’t be stopped by a black hole decides to speed up the recovery by vomiting up her version of the past to the distraught heroine . Heroine almost takes off again only to return to hero when she remembers a sweet romantic gesture he made towards her, quoting Shakespeare at her in order to hint that he loved her more than just as a convenient wife and baby momma. Fin.

Susan Napier did a much much better version of the selective amnesia marriage reunion trope in Secret Seduction, without the tacky swinging from brother to brother and with a very cute pet dog to round out the story.

This book has everything & more. Heroine got shafted by fiancé who not only cheated on her but also took her piggy bank to the cleaner, then he conveniently got himself killed. Whoevah says karma ain't a bitch ? She goes solo on her honeymoon on a tropical island (so cliche, how come honeymooners nevah evah pick Antarctica as blissful boinkathon destination ?) & she meets hero, who's still grieving for expired bro. They have a 1 nite stand, she runs away from him w/out telling him her name. H/h meet again when she's in the jury screening box & wallah ! He's the barrister. He tells judge to remove heroine due to conflict of interest. He initially thinks she's telling him a big whopper that she dunno him from Adam cuz of amnesia. He drags her back to the same vacay island to trigger her memory & plays it by ear. Layer after bhoring layer after, we find out heroine recovers memory when alleged OW (the sista of hero's BFF) pays her a visit. Turns out heroine carried a bun in her roaster after her hawt & heavy session w/ hero. He tracked her down & coerced her into marriage of benefits cuz his potent li'l swimmers scored a biggie. Hero forgot to bring his supply of rubbers & there's no condom vending machine on the tropical island. Hero was infuriated as he found out that heroine's actually his half-bro's sloppy 2nds. Wot are the odds ? He thought preggers heroine was still carrying a torch for his shady half-bro. She felt resentful that he got stuck in holy cwappy matrimony only for baby's sake. Kinda hard to believe the coincidental circumstances but ok, I've read more dubious plotline. So we get treated to typical hurtful H/h's bickerfest & cross-wired communication. Dwama queen heroine apparently was so distraught (after OW revealed that she & hubby had been engaged & that heroine had ruined OW's imaginary HEA) that she left hubby, almost turned into a roadkill & miscarried. The ensuing Amnesia goes on for too long until OW shows up uninvited again after H/h reunite. Heroine gets hella pissed that hero doesn't try to fill in the blanks & feels used. Verra confusing flashbacks to memory lane. Mayhap my mental acuity wasn't all there but I had a verra hard time staying focused on the meandering storyline. The heroine nevah learned her lessons. She tried to run away from hubby a whopping 3 X, if my tally was correct. For someone who's supposed to be eloquent in his professional work, he's oddly reticent due to his past. So if your spouse clams up when it comes to feelings / declaration of luv, the only otha solution is to believe the lies that roll off the OW's tongue. I normally luv her writing but this 1 just didn't do it 4 me. The 1st 64 % was much ado about nuffink. I wish the build-up to the amnesia cure was strung more tautly, a la Charlotte Lamb. - Crescendo. Physical attraction seemed to be the only ingredient working in H/h's relationship. To have a psychologist friend to alert heroine that hubby luvs her, isn't that romantic. Granted, he's not expressive outta bed but still, being on the receiving end of his persistent pursuit shoulda been a neon sign clue that he's really into U.

Synopsis:
This book is about Alex Sabre, who is mourning his dead brother. He seduces Sanchia Stevens, who is on her 'honeymoon' – alone – and is not mourning her not so faithful dead fiancée, at a party. Their one night may/ may not lead to consequences. And this is where Chapter One ends. Fast forward three years, Alex confronts an amnesiac Sanchia in a courtroom, and of course, déjà vu follows as does the rest of the story, with Alex taking her to Bermuda, in order to help her remember the missing years.

Review:
This doesn't have BDSM or anything kinky about it (M&B never has), but it sure gave me a déjà vu of some things…
My, my … 'What is it about elevators?
Her calling him 'Sir' on several occasions.

My first M&B read where the hero is a barrister. The author has given him the perfect nickname, Demon Defender. I just loved the names in this book, the heroine's name, Sanchia (in Spanish: Holy), for example. After Sanchia's amnesia, Alex is very caring towards her, in his own way, but definitely a hot-headed guy (aren't they all?). Unlike other amnesiac stories I have read before, the author gives many pages after the revelation as well, which I liked. The role reversal of their first dialogue was so sweet. And the way they brought the courtroom to the bedroom (wink, wink), was very interesting. But, an epilogue would have been nice.

It was an intense emotional amnesia story,both came together when both were in grief and lonely which leads to unplanned pregnancy and then MOC,lack of communication and trust build many walls between them not to forget obssessed OW who keeps feeding lies to h who blindly trust her and the losing the baby followed by the accident which led to amnesia which in a way gave second chance to their crumpling marriage.Alex what do i say he is a man of morals,caring but has lost so much and cause of his lack of expression of his actual emotion leads Sanchia away.

It started out well but as it progressed i felt there were so many hurdles thrown like death-unplanned pregnancy-OW-accident-misunderstandings PHEW! Anyways inspite of all these hurdles they do manage to get their HEA.

Overall Okay read

I enjoyed this one. It's been a while since the last time I read HQ romance and this one definitely brews my coffee. But it's not as powerful as I thought it would be. I need more redemption moments. But overall I liked it. Will read more!
