Sammy Hayes should wear a sign - 'Dangerous When Pushed'.
When Haywire Sammy Hayes comes home to Halifax after losing his boxing title as the World Heavyweight Champion his troubles are just beginning. Ladders and black cats are everywhere. His best friend, the most dangerous cabdriver in the world, had always told him to make sure they couldn’t find the bodies. Good advice not taken.
I put off reading this Book for way too long. I'm always skeptical about reading Books by Authors who I know personally. Mostly because I'm a bad liar. If I'm ever asked for my opinion on something, I always tend to be a little bit too honest and blunt. So, when my Uncle started writing Novels over the course of the 2020 Pandemic, my biggest fear was what if I don't like it? What if it's not very good?
I didn't have that issue with this novel at all. Reminding me of a Canadian twist on James Rollins' Sigma Force novels, this one was a blast. Comprised of plot focusing equally on science and action sequences, this story just never really let up. The characters were all fully developed. It's got a great Canadian Twist to it with the American Military being the villains in the story. And there were quite a few Easter eggs focusing on my family's history.
I loved this book. I'm definitely picking up E Copies of the next two books that Ray's released later on this week when I get paid. I only really have two regrets here. First, that I had put off reading this for too long. And second, that Ray waited till his late 60s to start writing.
