Three hurting hearts. Too many secrets. One chance to conquer their fears.
Six Pack Ranch, Book 6
Over the past year, Travis Coleman lost the two people he allowed closest to his heart. Both gave him ultimatums—then left. Hell if he needs that kind of pain again. Time to move forward without the friends he thought might save him from his dangerous cravings.
When Ashley Sims returns to Rocky Mountain House, her rambling lifestyle isn’t all she’s hoping to change. Travis snagged a piece of her, and while getting tangled in his issues again might be crazy, she hasn’t given up on him.
Nine months ago, Cassidy Jones walked away to stop his best friend from making a huge mistake. Temptation lingers, though, and when Travis shows up on his turf accompanied by a sensually uninhibited woman, the combination tosses fuel on the banked fire. Passion flares among the three of them, as hot as the summer days. But are they willing to push the limits, and fight for love?
Warning: Dirty fighting, dirty talk, dirtier sex—secrets are coming out. Get ready for ménage a trois and cowboy-on-cowboy action, with ropes and crops and the kind of relentless love strong enough to set a man free.
New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Vivian Arend loves to share the products of her over-active imagination with her readers. She writes contemporary, western, and light-hearted paranormal romances. The stories are humorous yet emotional, usually with a large cast of family or friends, and a guaranteed happily-ever-after. Vivian lives in British Columbia, Canada, with her husband of many years—her inspiration for every hero and a willing companion for all sorts of adventures.
Sometimes it's so hard to write a review for a book that touched you so deeply and this is one of those times. I have loved Vivian Arend's Six Pack Ranch series from the start and with each book she's proven time and time again what a talented author she is, but this book just really hit me hard. Yes, this is a book about a menage or triad relationship, but it's about so much more. It's about grief, letting go of past hurts, acceptance, understanding, trust, and realizing love comes in many forms.
I won't go into a lot of detail because honestly, this is a book you need to read for yourself so you can experience the wide range of emotions it brings forth as you pour through the words. Suffice it to say Vivian Arend is a great storyteller and she weaves her words beautifully and without apology. From the start of this series it was obvious that Travis Coleman was hiding something and while many of us guessed at least part of it, I'm not sure everyone really understood everything he needed in his life. Thankfully he found it in both Ashley and Cassidy and with the support of his family, they will work through the many challenges and difficulties that they face.
I stayed up all night reading this story and I wasn't one bit sorry for the lack of sleep and while I broke my normal routine of re-reading the entire series before I read this one, I know now that I will go back and re-read this series from start to finish because there are some things I need to look for to see if I missed them or they were just buried and I didn't see them. No matter what, I'd stay up again to read this or any of the books in this series they are just that good.
Thank you Vivian for giving us another wonderful installment in the Six Pack Ranch series and for creating this family for us all to cherish for years to come.
Vivian Arend's Six Pack Ranch is one of my favourite western series, and I especially appreciate the uniquely Canadian view she adds to the stories. I think this is probably my favourite so far of the series. Travis' is a unique story, and the family's reaction to his revelations is pretty typically Canadian - we're a very tolerant and understanding nation for the most part, and proud of it! I'm a fan of menages, and the m/m/f is one of my favourite formations...of course that's not the only formation in this book, and that's one of the things I really enjoyed about it. Ms. Arend really knows how to do steamy scenes right, and this book definitely does not disappoint in this area!
My one issue was the length. It was considerably longer than the rest of the books in the series, and just a little longer than I prefer...seemed to drag in spots. All in all, though, only a 1/2 star deduction for this.
Early on in the series, as in book one, I suspected some of what Travis Coleman would need for his HEA. I may have been right, but it turns out that was only the tip of the iceberg.
What came next was so much better than I expected. Ashley Sims and Cassidy Jones add a level of fire to this that is fan-freaking-tastic! 🔥🥵🔥 Even when I don't like an aspect of the story, mostly related to small minded people, I can't deny that it was necessary to make their tale amazing. ❤️🔥🍆⚔️🍑🌶🎉 And it is amazing!
In small towns, small minds are more noticeable, something Travis, Cassidy, and Ashley get several doses of when things first become public. Leave it to Jaxi, Marion, and the other Coleman women to strike up a balance. I absolutely love that about them! In general, I absolutely adore the acceptance of their unconventional relationship by all of the Colemans. It makes me love this family even more! ❤️
I received an author's copy of the audio book. The narrator for this series continues to be Tatiana Sokolov, whom I continue to enjoy.
If you are like me, you have been soaking up every word to come out of Vivian Arend’s brain and into the Six Pack Ranch series. And have probably been scared and excited about this one!! Finally we get to see what the heck has been going on in the head of Travis Coleman!! I have wanted inside his head since book one. All along I thought we would end up with a MM, and get to see the trials of coming out in that part of the world. Never did I think we would get this complex MMF story. These three grab you by your emotions, and have you walking this complicated path with them. It is one of those great stories that you just can’t put down.
Travis Coleman has loved two people, and they have both walked out on him neither being able to come to terms with what Travis needs. Travis has a dark need for pain, and up till now he has gotten that through fighting. But Ashley being back in town, has him looking for other outlets for those needs. Ashley loves Travis, but refused to watch him get himself killed, so she left. Now she is back, and wants him to let her photograph him and his family for her art. When Travis gets asked to help out his cousin Karen, he takes Ashley along with him. She can still get her pictures while he gets the camp set up. Last thing Travis expected was to run into the man that has had him tied up in knots for the last nine months.
Cassidy ran from the sizzling heat that burned in-between him and Travis, but now he is forced to work with him in close quarters. There is a part of him that hurts to see him with Ashley even though he is trying his best to hide it, and another part of him that confuses the heck out of him that also would like to get his hands on Ashley. Can he be around them long without giving into the explosive chemistry between them? Can any of them get away without a broken heart, or is there a possibility of a HEA??
I absolutely loved this book!! To be honest I was expecting it to make me into an emotional basket case, but that wasn’t the case. Although it did get me by the heart quite a few times. This is one of those series where each book is just truly amazing, and I so can’t wait for the next one!! I can’t recommend this book and series enough!!
Travis, Ashley, and Cassidy are SMOKIN' hot together. I honestly adored their dynamic as they slid into a relationship and I LOVED how the Colemans took Travis's sexuality in stride when he brought his two special someones home. I dunno, it totally worked for me.
But it took a while for the trio to reach the point where they were heading home to meet the folks. To start with, Travis had some issues to work out. Heck, Cassidy had some issues to work out. Ashley was the most accepting of the group, but even she had to work her head around them being a collective THEM. Because a menage relationship in a small town comes with its own set of problems. Like gossipy townsfolk and prejudices.
Watching each of them come to terms with their feelings was everything. Throwing in the insanely supportive Coleman clan--who aren't ones to back down when they believe their doing the right thing-- and you have a sweet, sexy, SMOKIN' hot romance between two cowboys and a free-spirited artist.
This one was a little spicer than the others. It centers on Travis Coleman, Ashley, and Cassidy. Travis secret is about to come out. He has been hiding it for years and his lover Ashley knows, but his large family doesn't. He has been attracted to his best friend Cassidy for quite a long time and he feels sure he cares for him, also. Travis has to face the fact he is bi-sexual. He likes both. This is a good story of their journey
Let us first take a moment to drool over this fantastic cover! This is truly cowboy perfection.
I began my stalking campaign for an ARC of this book almost as soon as I heard that book 6 of the Six Pack Ranch series was to be Travis’ book. You see, this author, over the course of the previous 5 books has hinted at things only to suddenly throw in a wrench and change what I thought I knew about Travis. She has kept us readers on a short leash and we hungered for any little tidbit that she would deign to give us where Travis was concerned. From book one, I speculated on what was Travis’ kink until every time I thought I had him figured out, I’d learn something new that would only confound me again. In Rocky Mountain Freedom, we get Travis, all of him, and it was a delicious ride.
What I had not expected, and I say this in all honesty, was a menage. I am not a fan of menage in my romance reading. Very few stories have convinced me that the relationship between two men and one woman could work, and stand the test of time; not to mention being accepted by others including family members who are supposed to love you unconditionally. Though I like to say, “I don’t care what others think”, it’s easier said than done. So, when the cover and blurb for this book was released I had my reservations. I was already in love with Travis. I knew he had issues, but not exactly what they were and I speculated with each book to try and understand why he was so tortured within when from the outside he appeared to others so very confident and sexy.
Trust. I should have had more trust that Ms. Arend would not let us down.
Travis, Ashley and Cassidy are tossed together when Travis’ cousin Karen gets hurt and is unable to run her new business venture where city folk can experience the ranch life in a controlled environment. She asks Travis to run it and Ashley, an artist and “friend” of Travis, tags along to work on her art projects and work on snagging Travis. When they arrive, Travis is surprised to find Cassidy is there. Cassidy and Travis have some unfinished business that gets tempers flaring from the get go. What is also immediately apparent to the reader is the attraction between everyone. Ashley, is most obvious in her very blatant inspection of Cassidy as a possible art subject:
She hummed happily and held out a hand. “Well, well. You feel the urge to round anything up, give me a shout. I’d love to see you in action with a rope.”
Cassidy jerked to a stop, her fingers already in his, not quite sure how to respond to that comment as he accepted her firm handshake.
Travis rolled his eyes. “You want him to strip so you can look him over a little closer?” Instead of blushing or getting embarrassed, Ashley’s eyes lit brighter. “You’re a genius Travis.”
While Ashley and Travis arrive at the camp as a “couple” the issues that broke them up previously have not been dealt with and when one of Travis’s kinks shows itself, Ashley finds herself is a precarious position and leans on Cassidy to help. What follows is one of the most intensely erotic scenes in a form of sexual pleasure I don’t think I will ever understand. But I would be lying through my teeth if I didn’t admit that it was singe-your-panties-off HOT! It also becomes the catalyst to this threesome forming an intimate bond that cements them together. It will force all three of them to share their vulnerabilities as well as their strengths and that bond will only get stronger as they fully explore what they could be together.
This road, however, is not without obstacles. Ashley is a free spirit who was brought up in a very open style commune-like family. She is open to anything though she does struggle with one of Travis’ ‘needs’. Travis as well has been open to exploring his sexual needs with both men and women. Cassidy, though, has not. While he had at one time tried to be open about his feelings, it was not received well and he lost people he loved because of it, so he’s tried to close off that side of himself. While he cannot deny how he feels about both Travis and Ashley he does fight them until he realizes that he can make the choice for himself and not worry about judgment.
What truly sold me on this relationship being able to work was the fact that the men were very attracted to each other. The author does an excellent job of showing us that by allowing intimate scenes between just Travis and Cassidy as well as Cassidy and Ashley without Travis. I liked this a lot; that each person could build ties to each other individually. Additionally, we are given Travis’s family who welcome their relationship with total acceptance.
In Rocky Mountain Freedom, we not only get the answers to our questions, but we are given a beautiful story filled with the ups and downs of a romance between two men and a woman who each have something to overcome and are able to do so with the love that builds between the three of them. I’m totally satisfied with the path the author chose for Travis after leading us on for 5 books. While it can be read alone, you would miss the exquisite build up that the author gives us throughout the series, so I recommend reading from book 1; you will not be disappointed as each books has something unique about its couples.
MinnChica: I have been chomping at the bit for Travis’ story since the first Six Pack Ranch book. I couldn’t wait to find out what the deal was with this sexy and mysterious cowboy. Arend has been so secretive about his kink, his sexual preferences, that we’ve all been left to wonder what exactly Travis’ deal is! I have to say, I loved it!!! I loved him with both Cassidy and Ashley, I loved getting to see what really drives him, and the sex scenes were OMG HOT!
E: I have to say that Arend really kept me waiting for Travis’ story. I have wondered and suspected so many different things about him throughout this series. Some things he enjoyed Arend shared but it was only bits and pieces not the complete picture. I am very glad to say that his story made up for the excruciatingly long wait. Watching him deal with both his demons and desires as he struggled to find a balance that satisfied his needs yet did not continually alarm those who cared about him was such an emotional ride. I also agree with MinnChica about the sex scenes. Very intense and smoking hot!
MinnChica: I just want to say that I am usually not a fan of menage stories, especially m/f/m ones. But, since Travis and Cassidy were just as interested in each other as they were in Ashley, I found that I was able to believe in their happily ever after more than with other stories. One of my favorite aspects of their relationship was watching Cassidy and Travis fight themselves and their desires to be together, especially Cassidy. He was so scared of losing Travis as a friend, that he feared acting on any of his desires, even after he knew they were returned. Both Travis and Ashley had to almost coax Cassidy into a relationship with them, but once the three were together, they were so perfect for one another. I adored their relationship, and just how willing they were to fight for their triad once they left the seclusion of their camp.
E: Reluctant Cassidy was so much fun. The way he kept himself separate despite their urging and his own desires. I also liked how he agreed to help Travis because he cared so deeply about him and Ashley. He would have preferred to deal with emotional pain than to see Ashley hurt. Even though he seemed self-sacrificing at times he also knew what he wanted and was willing to fight for it once he knew it was welcomed. In some ways I think Ashley had a harder time believing that what she wanted was possible and that she did not have to be ashamed of it. I liked how she relaxed during their time out at the camp but she also had some unfortunately valid fears for their return to town.
MinnChica: Yes, poor Ashley seemed to be the one who was most hurt by their unconventional relationship, especially once they returned to town. I was so glad to see her strong spirit come out though, because she was such a good fit for both Travis and Cassidy. I always love when unconventional romance books deal with the aftermath of their relationship, not just the getting there and the sex scenes. Watching Travis, Cassidy and Ashley ALL deal with the fall out of their friends and the town was so great. I loved getting to see not just the good aspects of their menage, but the bad as well. Plus, seeing the Coleman crew surround Cassidy and Ashley with their awesomeness was a total bonus!!
E: Oh I loved seeing the Coleman’s pull together around Travis, Cassidy and Ashley. It really showed how they grew as a family from the first installment through Rocky Mountain Freedom. While I felt horrible for what happened I think it also cemented their commitment to their relationship and made me buy into the HEA since it wasn’t all flowers and rainbows. Once again Arend had demonstrated why I eagerly await each new release. She just keeps getting better. I give Rocky Mountain Freedom an A.
MinnChica: All in all I adored finally getting to read all about Travis! I loved that he had not only a secret regarding his bisexuality, but also a big secret regarding the way he deals with stress, pain, and the day-to-day bull shit. It was wonderful to see the way Cassidy and Ashley and Travis were all able to close ranks around each other, and provide for one another in ways they never expected. Again, I am super anxious to read more and more of the Coleman family books! I give Rocky Mountain Freedom an A
I really enjoyed Rocky Mountain Freedom! I have read previous menages, but Rocky Mountain Freedom was the first one that dealt with discrimination and hate. I would highly recommend the rest of the Six Pack Ranch series!
Sixth in the Six Pack Ranch western romance series and definitely an erotic romance as well, as it involves a ménage à trois that isn't exactly acceptable in this small town in Alberta, Canada.
It explores the fears of one bisexual man who knows what's coming for the three of them...and after the example his father set, he's not anxious to push that envelope. Yet the Six Pack family is a supportive one, and you can't help but love them all.
One of the things that through me when the series started was the stories other than the main characters EXCEPT for Travis. Travis was front and centre from the beginning and I couldn't wait to see and here more from him. When he finally got his book, because Gabe and Joel jumped out in front of him, the anticipation was high. What the heck was going on with Travis? We had so many different glimpses and innuendos and you wanted to know the whole story. Trouble was, I knew I need a long stretch to read it, because it was not being put away until I was done, and that is what happened!
We start with what went on between Travis and Cassidy that we didn't see in Gabe's book, you had the hint, but it was nice to have the facts. Then we have Ashley returning and find out she left because she wanted him to stop fighting, one of the same reasons Cassidy was freaked.
Travis can't promise, so he and Ashley work on her artist project, until Travis agrees to fill in for his cousin Karen on her trail ride. Away in the bush, no fighting available, so he and Ashley get back together. When they arrive, Cassidy is there. The sparks are still there for Travis, and for Ashley as well. Ashley picks up on the vibes between Travis and Cassidy and Travis confesses to her. Travis also explains his need for pain, and Ashley gets him to let her know when it strikes and maybe Cassidy can help him out. When it does happen, Ashley has her time for confessions.
We have some ups and downs and overs and about, but we end up with the three of them in a relationship together in all its' variations. Away in the bush it works, but Cassidy is hesitant to take it out in the open. Cassidy's time for confession and it cements them either more together.
Finally they are all three back in Rocky House, and if Travis thought his family would be shocked, he finds the whole thing quite anti-climatic. Seems everyone knew he liked men and women, and Daniel had the best, know that Travis has a boyfriend, he can get twice the help from him moving large objects now!
There is some blow-back from the town, and also some support that came from unlikely sources. Some series of misunderstandings and a few run-ins, but the Coleman's stand strong, even when Ashley ends up hurt in the process. Mike and Marion come through, as always, for their boys, and Ashley and Cassidy finally get their home with Travis, and Travis finally gets everything he ever wanted!
Very moving, open and honest portrayal of the turmoil, emotions and real reactions to the situation. The book isn't overly emotional, and each character gets their own time in the spotlight, and all relationships get their own time. It isn't overly sweet, but it is very powerful, and you are rooting for these guys to have their time and happiness all the way through!
My own bias but I never really believe in the more than two people in a relationship HEA. I know. All things are possible but, jiminy, trying to navigate a relationship with one other person is a full time job. When you throw in a third I can't imagine it makes it any easier. This is the story of Travis and Ashley and Cassidy. Travis has always been my least favorite of the clan. He's violent and pretty much a manwhore. He and Ashley were involved, he and Cassidy had been involved and now all three are involved. Truthfully, I skimmed through this one because I couldn't get past Travis's need to experience pain and Ashley's hurt at knowing that she alone would never be enough for Travis. It seems to me that when three people are in a relationship, the physical aspects of that relationship should be between three people, not sometimes three and sometimes two. Every time two of this threesome paired up, I felt like there was cheating going on. I particularly didn't like the riding crop Travis and Cassidy interlude. Sharing this type of experience only made the bond between the two men stronger and I wondered, where does this leave Ashley? This aspect of their relationship is always something that will exclude Ashely and I'm not confident that it will not ultimately overwhelm whatever feelings are between Travis and Ashely. I had assumed in previous books that Travis's need to periodically get the crap beaten out of himself and be a manwhore was because he was repressing his sexuality. That was a story I would have enjoyed reading instead of this one.
This is the sixth book in Vivian's hot cowboy Six Pack Ranch series and revolves around a ménage a trois (wooooooo!) between Ashley and two ridiculously good-looking cowboys. This is a coming-together story. Travis lost both of the people he loved, and a year later has decided enough is enough and brings Ashley along to show Cassidy the life they want is the life they deserve. For Travis fans, this is what you've been waiting for. The tight-lipped Vivian has finally let it be known that he's in love with both Cassidy and Ashley, and when the three of them get together, chemistry sparks and, dang, if it ain't hot.
To see what Vivian has to say about Rocky Mountain Freedom check out the HEA Blog!
I've been such a big fan of this series and I feel like I've been waiting to get Travis's story forever. I definitely wasn't disappointed with the menage storyline in the least. I thoroughly loved the m/m aspects of the story, and throwing in Ashley just made the dynamics so much better. Ashley seemed to be the glue of the relationship, and she had such a fun personality. I do, however, wish we got to know Cassidy a bit more. He seemed a bit flat until almost the very end, and drove me a bit batty with how much of a fight he was putting up. Now I knew I was going to love Travis, so that came no surprise at all. :) He is so swoon worthy! Overall, I think this was definitely an enjoyable read.
Why I read it: I bought it because I couldn’t wait for the audiobook (which I think will be available soon, just not soon enough for me!).
What worked for me (and what didn’t): I was in the mood for hot and sexy and reliably good so I checked where I was up to in the Six Pack Ranch series and downloaded Rocky Mountain Freedom. My favourite kind of menage book is where all three are romantically and sexually involved. Here, I thought there was perhaps a bit of a fairytale acceptance of the polyamorous relationship but the problems weren’t entirely glossed over either and I was able to buy into the fantasy of the romance without any trouble.
Ashley Sims, Travis Coleman and Cassidy Jones what a group of amazing people. The warning given with the book is no joke. "Warning: Dirty fighting, dirty talk, dirtier sex--secrets are coming out. Get ready for ménage a trois and cowboy-on-cowboy action, with ropes and crops and the kind of relentless love strong enough to set a man free."
Believe every word because this story delivers this and so much more. They make you see that love comes is so many forms there really should be no reason to run from any of them. I love that they all started out as close friends and find that they really have no reason to find a way to live with out each other. This series just keeps getting better and better.
This might be my favourite Six Pack Ranch book yet. It didn't go quite as I expected, but I loved every minute anyway. Maybe even more, because Ms. Arend kept me guessing and turning pages like a mad woman.
It's long...too long to read in one night, like I did the other books. All day yesterday I was thinking about Travis, Ashley and Cassidy, and how they were going to make it work. Now that I know, I'm sure I'll re-read this again in the future, because it's such a great love story for three people who never thought they'd get one.
Plus, on top of all of that, it's Canadian and rural. Happy sigh.
Totally worthy book for Travis. Quite often authors don't deliver for me when I've been waiting for certain characters' books but Viv Arend definitely delivered on this one! All my triggerpoints were adressed with a scorching hot and emotional ménage that both set the pages on fire AND had me in sniffles several times. I loved all the characters, I was amazed by the level of heat and the way this story worked on every level! This one is in my top 3 of favorite Six Pack Ranch books and I'm looking forward to everything else Viv has on offer in this world and it's spin-offs with the The Thomsons and the other branches (Whiskey Creek, Moonshine cousins) of the Coleman family!
Wow, this book really disappointed me. I guess it was not my cup of tea. The explicitness of the sexcapades was even a bit much for me. I do not care for the mental pictures it drew for me. I really tried to like this book and the first time I stopped at 50%. I decided to go back and give it another try but it seemed to be all about the menage and cowboy on cowboy with a real lack of storyline.
I am sorry to say that I cannot recommend this book.
It took me a while to warm up to Ashley. Cassidy and Travis had chemistry from the first chapter. Even though the ending had all the family and a wrap up, I wanted more information. So I wanted more from the ending after all the emotion.
This was hottest in Rocky Mountain Serie ! Great Story, some very nice MM action , and very ,very hot MFM action! But it was great written, realistic, and what I love most , with some hints about next story!
I really enjoyed this book, and honestly I wasn't sure I would love it as much as I did, because I didn't know how a relationship with 3 people would work without somebodys heart being broken.I couldn't stand the thought of Travis,Cassidy or Ashley's hearts being broken. But it wasn't like that at all,and Bravo to Vivian Arend for writing such an Amazing story. Honestly the relationship between Travis,Ashley and Cassidy is beautiful and I am kind of jealous..because between the 3 of them they have such a special love, understanding, trust, respect and acceptence with eachother. I think Vivian Arend has written her hottest book so far in this series because these 3 are very, very steamy. The sparks between them all are so electric, the chemistry and undeniable attraction is combustable. Travis has always been a bit of a mystery in some ways he is living a secret life but not one we all expected. He is going to a fight club because he craves pain, because the pain calms the thoughts inside his head.Thoughts of his attraction to his best friend Cassidy,it comes to light that he has always been attracted to both male and females. Anyway nobody as any idea because he has always been seen around town with women especially one woman Ashley. One night though changes everything resulting in Cassidy being assaulted and he leaves town,he finally knows of Travis and his attraction to him....an attraction he feels too. I felt for Cassidy he was so confused about his sexuality and wouldn't give in or let himself be the person who he was always meant to be.He kept refusing to acknowledge his interest in both Ashley and Travis..But it all finally comes to an explosion of passion and acceptence when they are all away together setting up a camp for the Summer.Seeing one another after months and months apart they are all finally together for the first time. Ashley is like a breath of fresh air,her idea of relationships and sex are something that the town of Rocky Mountain house has never seen before.I loved her she loved both men and was not ashamed, she owned it and didn't care what people thought. She has such a good heart though and was afraid that her beliefs, and her way of life could hurt Travis and his family. This is such a great read with a wonderful meaningful message if you choose to listen...That love is love and relationships should never be judged based on ignorance. Family doesn't always have to be the conventional kind,as long as there is love family can be whatever it wants to be with whomever you choose to love. Magnificent story. Loved it. 5 Stars.
I thoroughly loved this read. Once again I'll say it, I love all the Colemans that have been introduced but especially the SP Ranch clan. I loved Travis, Ashley and Cassidy story. I loved that Travis had no idea who the head person would be, but I secretly hoped it was him. I couldn't wait to read Travis story after Blake and Jaxi story. I knew there was more to him then what he put on. Travis, I love his love for family and others even if he didn't realize it yet you could see it in all the books. Out of all 6 siblings he was the one I wanted to see happy and with a family that made him whole. Not saying his family didn't love him but he was missing a big part of himself. Ashley, I love her spunk, how she goes after life with both hands but I also knew in Joel and Vickis story something had to change. She would be a great person to be around and I'm so glad Jaxi, Beth and Vicki were there for her in the different times needed. I think Hope would as well. Cassidy, OMG I just want to hug him. He's gone through hell and back that is for sure. In Gabe and Allison read we met Cassidy. He proved to be a great person for finding Travis and helping him. When he took off it was heartbreaking. At first I honestly thought he would turn them down. I'm so glad because the three of them complete each one. This was steamy and I wished the little teases they talked about actually were written but thats just because it would be extra steamy. Rocky is like any other town in the world with people who love to gossip and mean hearted people. Hopefully through these stories people can open their eyes to what is around them and themselves. I highly recommend this book to everyone who loves a truly hard love story.
Almost from the start of the series, I wondered if Vivian Arend was going to tackle Travis’ story, as in previous parts of the series she occasionally hinted at Travis being bisexual, and if so, how she would handle a, for most readers complex, subject matter like that. She did tell Travis’ story, and she did handle the subject very well in my view (which is reflected in my rating).
Bigotry is part of everyone’s world, unfortunately, both in small villages and in large cities. People with an ‘alternate’ lifestyle shouldn’t be persecuted, but it happens, there’s no denying it, and it’s most probably ignorance that causes the bigotry. But it’s the people themselves that count, not the way they choose to live, as they are not doing anyone any harm.
I'm Dutch and I live in a tolerate country on the whole, but fairly recently there has been a case of gay bashing over here in the Netherlands, because a couple held hands in public... Jeez... It made me cringe. It was so good to see on the news that even our prime minister took a stand against this and showed his upset at the whole thing. I have gay friends and would hate to think they’d be the subject of a gay bashing or anything. They are great guys, and as I said earlier, it’s the person that counts, not their lifestyle.
I didn't love this episode in the series, mostly because they spent way too long (in my opinion) struggling with worries about how the outside world would perceive their relationship. Sure, it's pretty unusual to have a threesome "couple," especially in a small town, but hey, love is love, right? It was pretty realistic, I suspect, with plenty of people gossiping and judging, but most of their friends and family were understanding, and I was surprised that they didn't recognize that sooner. In any case, Ashley and Cassidy are out-of-towners, really, who hook up with Travis Coleman while working a horse trails camp for the summer. Ashley is an old girlfriend who was looking for more of a commitment than she had gotten from Travis in the past. And Cassidy is very skittish about having a "relationship" with Travis that is more than friendship. But the three of them just clicked, and I enoyed following the progress of their relationship. There were some exciting scenes with some vandalism, and I especially liked Ashley's artistic talents and enjoyed imagining her finished paintings. It was good to revisit with previous characters such as Vickie and Joel (who were both getting ready for the camp in their book) and Jaxi and Blake, as well as all the other Six-Pack siblings and parents.
Travis Coleman is struggling - he has a need for pain and living in a small town, the only way to meet it is to fight. His best friend, Cassidy Jones, left because of this. A girl he was seeing also left because of it. But Ashley is back, hoping to put roots down in Rocky Mountain and work on a new photography and art project she has. Then Travis' cousin, Karen, asks him to work at her wilderness camp for the summer and he agrees, thinking that being away from everything and everyone will help him avoid getting into fights. He's shocked when he finds out the Cassidy is the head wrangler! Cassidy can't believe he'll be working with Travis, as well as the hot girl he brought along. He couldn't watch Travis hurt himself or even get killed, and he also isn't sure what's up with the hot kiss they shared before he left. Ashley's openness with life and sex help the two come to terms with their needs and the three have a hot, hot summer together. I went back and forth on this book. Overall it was interesting and hawt, but it didn't always hold my interest. I did love the ending, though.
I love reading/listening to MMF romance stories and this one is sooo goood! I remember reading this story several years ago when I was just starting to read spicier stories and I loved it so much; it was my favorite in the Six Pack Ranch series. I’ve had the audiobook in my library since 2017 and I can’t believe that I’ve just now made time to listen to it. Because it’s been over 10 years since I read the eBook, listening to Tatiana Sokolov perform this story was like reading it for the first time while at the same time bringing back memories of reading it so long ago.
Travis Coleman has a secret but it’s not the one that I was expecting (he reveals it to Ashley aways into the book). He and Ashley Sims have a history and he also has history with Cassidy Jones. The blurb really does a great job of describing the story so I’m going to end by saying that you can definitely read or listing to this as a standalone but the entire series is great and I don’t hesitate to recommend all of the books.
Travis Coleman uses a fun-loving attitude to cover hurt. But when the two people he thought were lost from his life returns he wants to find a way to make everyone happy and have a meaningful relationship. He has some dark cravings that he has been hiding that he will have to come to terms with in order for any type of relationship to have any meaning.
When Ashley Sims returns to Rocky Mountain House, her rambling lifestyle isn’t all she’s hoping to change. She had issues with Travis, but finds herself drawn back to him again along with his best friend.
Cassidy Jones walked away from his best friend in hopes of saving him from making a huge mistake. But now that he has returned to Rocky Mountain the temptations he tried to ignore are stronger than ever for his best friend and a new friend.
This unconventional relationship is full of passion but will come at a cost. These three will have to decide if they are willing to take the risk.
