Waiting in Paris is another delightful, tres Parisian, mystery that features society detective Simon Pennington. It is not always possible, these days, truly to enjoy a mystery, but Kopman-Owens' books do not disappoint. Author Peggy Kopman-Owens' works are always half puzzles, and half enjoyable travelogues that include delights that appeal to all of the senses. Paris society -- including chefs, gourmets, beautiful women, and ambiguous characters, are in Simon Pennington's network of -- generally polite -- informants.
The audiobook, which I have recently heard, augments the delights of the story by the narration of Sir Hugh Elliot.
The detective is after an art vandal named Vadim Bergeron, a rascal who blackmails artists, and participates in art thefts. The complexities of the chase lift Waiting in Paris to the level of the high quality expected of the best detective story fiction.
