Cindy Patterson believes in life changing fiction and happily ever afters that start with Jesus. Her passions include Jesus, her husband, and her family. She's an ordinary girl wanting to do extraordinary things for Christ.
A great debut novel from a precious friend. Cindy has crafted a lovely romance with a beautiful setting, a little suspense, and some clever secret revealing. I'm jealous.:)
It's a very pretty book as well and just the right size for me. I realize this doesn't matter to some but I can't read a mass-market sized book. I call that the "grocery store size". I know there are others of you out there who feel the same way.
This one is available in paperback and ebook as well. If you enjoy a meaningful, young adult romance novel, give Broken Butterfly a try.
It is difficult to believe that this novel is the author’s debut. From an intriguing start, the story flows on to reveal an intricate world with many fleshed out characters and settings, keeping the reader captivated until the end. What really stood out to me, was the easy eloquence which the writer appears to possess. Even the best of stories can be impaired by poor narration; the author’s skillful way with words made sure that nothing stood in the way of the tale.
The story is told from the perspectives of two characters, switching from one to the other every few pages. This is done in a clever way that does not affect the readability of the story, and is tied up perfectly by the end of the book. The backstory of Mallory is provided to the reader in bits and pieces, supplied when necessary and suitable without taking over the narrative. All characters are tied together in one way or another so that there do not seem to be any loose ends, while not making any connections feel forced – something that is not always easy to achieve.
While there were one or two characters whose motives could have been clearer and I feel that the book could have ended two pages before it did, Broken Butterfly truly engrossed me. I am eager to read more novels by this author!
It's a beautiful book. I couldn't put the book down it got me through the hurricane season when I couldn't sleep at night because we had no power and it was 90 degrees.
This is a wonderful, sweet romance read. Mallory's past experiences, in a foster home and later in an abusive relationship, have taught her to 'trust no one' until, once again, she is forced to flee from a women's shelter in the middle of the night. This begins a journey both physical and mental/emotional for Mallory.
It is a tender and touching story about a young woman's struggle to overcome her fears and learn to trust her instinct and heart.
Cindy Patterson is a master storyteller who wove together a wonderful romance of first love alongside the harsh realities of growing up in an abusive family. Her characters seemed to reach off the page to me and I found myself dreaming about them long after the book was over. A must read story of hope and the power of love.
This is a great book! It's inspiring, entertaining, and well written. I couldn't put it down. I hope the author continues to write in this genre. I'll read whatever she writes. I recommended this to my friends and family.
Broken Butterfly was an unexpected treat. It’s a story of how the circumstances we face in our lives cannot halt God’s plans for our future. Great characters. Wonderful conflict. A page turner. I received a free copy in exchange for my honest review.
I thought this was a pretty great read I thought Mallory was a Person with great strength with what she had to go threw a Shenzhen me such great people and she finds Eric after so many years I thought it was a great christian read.
So Good!!!! Enjoyed this book from cover to cover. The characters were easy to like and felt like good friends by the time the book ended. Cindy Patterson is a rising star in Christian Romance and I can not wait to read her next book.
Excellent book that follows a young woman from a sad childhood ,through a tumultuous abusive relationship to the happy ending . An ending brought about by Faith and Devine intervention. Well written.
Didn't see the twist coming! That little surprise was fun. I connected and sympathized with Mallory and thought Eric a noble lead male. It was nice to revisit the characters and setting from Chasing Paradise. Overall, a solid, engaging plot with a good blend of romance and tension.
Love this book! The author is so talented and I thought the characters were very well developed. It was a wonderful Christian/romance book, that was hard to put down.
After enduring homelessness, Mallory finds refuge in the household of a man named Jake. She soon sees his wicked, controlling ways and flees from him. Providence brings her into the pathway of Eric, a friend from her past. Eric is noble and kind and resolute to help Mallory, but she is haunted by her past and the evil man who plots to rip her and Eric apart forever.
The well thought out characters are intriguing and don’t be surprised if you can’t put the book down. Laced with uncertainty, treachery, adversity, as well as the goodness of mercy, kinship, and the love of God, author, Cindy Patterson has weaved throughout her pages a wholesome, memorable, yet edge of your seat, tale, you will want to add to your romance collection. There is also, Chasing Paradise (A Paradise Novel Book 1) which is a wonderful read you don’t want to miss out on as well.
I loved this book honestly. The sweetness and the love I could feel between the main characters was just so good for my soul. Now I only gave this book a 4 star because I hated the added drama. I feel like the h could have handled a lot of the situations better. I know it’s just a book and it’s supposed to be a little unrealistic, but I found myself more frustrated as I saw how she handled things. Now the H was amazing. Super sweet and supportive . He didn’t get angry with her at all. He was very understand. I loved that these to found each other again. I was cheering them on from beginning to end. And the ending was bitter sweet for me as well.
What a great story! This would make a nice Hallmark movie someday. It was a page turner that kept me up reading late into the nights. I can’t wait for the follow up book ... hopefully soon. I can see the story unfolding now. The thing that KILLS me in these is the inability for people to be forthrightly honest and transparent. So much pain can be diverted ... won’t give any spoilers but it’s always my pet peeve of these kind of movies and books. I keep yelling at the page / screen “Just tell him/her!” Lol. Still a great story that I’d highly recommend. I went on Amazon and bought every other book available from this author. I’ll be following her.
A simple lighter read that also discusses some darker topics such as partner abuse, domestic violence, abandonment, foster care and other such topics. Nothing goes into much detail or depth, which keeps it lighter, but yet still addresses them. It does have some Amish overtones, which is not usually my cup of tea and still really wasn't, but the rest of the story was fascinating.
Touching & lovely. Not completely believable, but with time, the author can probably overcome that. There were too many over-dramatized moments, but I tried to ignore them & just enjoy the story. Beautiful idea, the Dragonfly boy & Butterfly girl!
