✔Meddling mom. ✔Missing Grandma. ✔A main character who wants to be anywhere else but Alaska.
When Bree Harris arrives in Alaska, she thinks she’s going to quickly find her grandma and then hightail it outta there. Her plans quickly change when she meets Michael Kinkaid. He loves Alaska, but his job has taken him way from the place he calls home.
It all ties us nicely in the end, but it’s the journey I loved. It’s a slow journey filled with charm, authentically crafted characters, and a believable romance. I knew Alaska would soften her heart and whether grandma was found or not, Bree would be planting roots.
I enjoyed catching up with characters from book one and the reminder to go after what makes us come alive.
This is book 2 of the series. I love the characters, they are Good Souls! They are Sweet Clean stories filled with reality, the usual misunderstandings, and a HEA that makes your heart glow.
This is the story of a young woman who comes to Alaska to visit her sister and her nieces only to meet a stranger who is a very well know and famous man who had developed and marketed a game for computers. This is my review and mine alone. Norma
🛁🛁🛁 Cathryn Brown creates a scenario where we immediately meet Alaska native, Michael Kincaid and Bree Harris as she unapologetically drops her carry-on on him.
Bree is an exhausted pediatrician who has traveled from an African city hospital to Alaska to help find her missing grandmother. Michael is a successful entrepreneur who has built his business in New York City, is homesick for his beloved Alaska, and has gone home to work his family’s mining claim while his brother stays near his family awaiting the arrival of his firstborn.
Through some maternal interference and scheming, Michael ends up taking a reluctant Bree to a few fairly unpopulated Alaskan wilderness villages since he’s heading that direction to get to the mining claim.
As they spend time together and experience Alaska’s natural beauty, they begin finding some common ground. When they get to Anchorage, Bree finds there’s more to Alaska than tundra and wilderness.
Throughout the book, Michael and Bree learn to work through their personal fears, distrust, biases, and need for compromise.
Book Quote: Bree held out her hand and he stepped forward to hold it. Even though she knew with every fiber of her being that she shouldn’t allow closeness between them, she couldn’t break the connection. Stepping in front of her, he cupped her face in his hands. “Let’s pretend for a few minutes that our lives can meet in the same state.” He lowered his head for a kiss so sweet she felt she’d come home.
Although the pacing of this book is very slow, if you’re willing to be patient, you will find well-developed characters and descriptions of beautiful scenery.
"Loving Alaska" (An Alaska Dream Romance Book 2) by Shannon Brown
I am falling in love with Alaska and the characters in this series as I read each novel or novella. With such beautiful and strong descriptives that seems to have so much for so many, Shannon Brown brings the reader straight into Alaska without a plane ride.
Her characters are well written, genuine and relatable. Her storyline is interesting, engaging, and multifaceted. While it doesn't have twists and turns to hold the readers attention, she has a wonderful way of writing that engages the reader where they will not want to put the book down.
I loved Michael and Bree, the main characters in this novel, and how authentic they both were individually and together. I also enjoyed how the author brought in all the other characters from the first novel and introduced us to some new ones. I am excited to be reading the next book in this series, a novella, "Merrying In Alaska."
This is book 2 in the Alaska Dream series. I recommend reading them in order. City lover Bree is getting ready to start a new job and flies to Alaska to visit family first. Her grandmother hasn't been heard from in a while so her mother sends her to look for her in the place she was last heard from. A friends son has to drive up to that area for business and reluctantly agrees to give her a ride. They don't get along at first but things improve. As always the author gives you a good look at Alaska and it's beauty. It was nice catching up with characters from the last book and meeting new ones. I look forward to book 3.
This story was bout Bree and Michael. He was a geeky, good looking computer programmer who started his own company. Bree had just finished her residency and was now officially a Pediatrician. Bree had gonna to Alaska to visit her family before starting a new job in Dallas Teas.Michael was visiting Alaska to see his family. His brothers wife was due to have her baby. Well, the story gets complicated but has a happy ending. Must read.
Bree and Michael meet in Alaska. She’s there to locate her missing grandmother. He’s there to do some gold mining and enjoy nature. They start out at odds with each other, but soon develop other feelings that neither is willing to act on since she doesn’t like Alaska and will be relocating to Texas, and he’ll be returning to NYC. A story of unexpected surprises, new beginnings, new love, and family. A nice clean romance with a HEA.
Likeable characters and a decent story. However the angst over not being able to be together seemed self inflicted, since she admitted early on that she didn’t want to go to Dallas, wanted to live near her family, and Anchorage is a big enough city to meet her needs. So her continued resistance to living there seemed willfully stupid at best.
I'm loving this series. The characters are so real and easy to love. The writing is great and the editing is great. Even though a HEA is known from the beginning of each book this does not keep the book from being fun and enjoyable.
A doctor. Feeling overwhelmed and uncertain about her career finds herself in Alaska where family surrounds her as she decided about which big city to call home. And he shows her the Alaska of his childhood. Hearts get involved and it's a merry adventure.
Bree rushed home to find her grandmother,Michael is there because his brother needs his help. Both have other places they feel they have to live. Families in Alaska x-ray will they do.
Bree's grandma is missing, so Bree travels to Alaska to find her. Bree's mother arranges a driver for her. Against their better judgment, romance sneaks in. Fun romance with the mystery of the missing grandma on the side.
I loved the description of the land in Alaska. I also loved what Michael’s Mom said to him “ go after your love , don’t wait to be an old man and wonder what if”. Bree and Michael will find a way. To be together. Cinda Millar
I loved this book. Bree and Michael are perfect. I love all the places in Alaska they go to and their families. This is a great series and look forward to Holly's story.
While searching for her grandmother with the help of Michael through lots of adventures they both found that they wanted to stay in Alaska and found love as well. Great read
This was a sweet love story about Bree, a woman who hates the outdoors and prefers a big city. She's meets Michael who loves Alaska and wants nothing more than to move back. I had a hard time connecting with Bree. She drove me crazy. She was so rude on the ride up with Michael to find her grandma. From then, I couldn't connect. However, Michael was so sweet, and patient, you immediately fall in love with him. The story was sweet but very predictable. There were no aha moments. It was a quick read and it's a feel good book. I will probably read the third book in this series because I want to find out about the last sister in this trio of sisters. I just hope she's less annoying than Bree was.
Thoroughly enjoyed this story and the compelling way this author weaves her story and characters. Highly recommend this to anyone who loves good romance.
Loving Alaska, written by Shannon L. Brown, is the second book in this series...and loved it! Brown took me on a trip of a lifetime once again as went across the Alaskan territory in a four-wheel drive vehicle on bumpy roads with beautiful views. Alaska is one of the places I always have wanted to go and although I may never get there...I was able to go there on a "bookcation" like none other! Brown showed me the land, the view, the people and the great beauty that only Alaska and those from Alaska could possibly share. Loving Alaska is a very clean read...nothing really religious in it except mention of going to church a couple times, but other than that just a clean good read. The characters are fun to catch up with as we meet Bree and Michael this time, but we also get to hear about Bree's family that we met in book 1 and hopefully the rest of the family we'll meet in book 3. I was given this book by the author. All thoughts and comments are my own.
I loved Michael and Bree's journey and romance. The description of the wonders of Alaska transported me there. The stories within the story were awesome. Thank you for a beautiful journey.
Absolutely love this series. Bree and Michael are perfect and how they evolve. I enjoyed having both sides of the family part of the story. I look forward to the novella and third book.
