She was beautiful, smart and funny—everything I could want. And I was... well. Me.
Tattooed, foul mouthed, bad boy.
I told one little white lie hoping to meet someone different. And I did.
Danniella Abbot.
She wasn’t who I was expecting, and I guess she could say the same, because Danni made it very clear she wasn’t interested in me or my reasons for lying.
The fact that she was my best friend’s little sister only complicated an already impossible situation.
I didn’t intend on tricking her. I just wanted her to give me a chance, to discover who I am underneath the ink.
She can fight me all she likes because we both know that I’m exactly her type. She just doesn’t know it yet.
What happens when you wake up married to the woman you tricked into a date?
You kiss the bride and prove her wrong.
Dear Readers,
Trick You is the second book in my angst-filled, emotional and steamy Rebel Ink series.
Tracy Lorraine is a M/F and M/M contemporary romance author. Tracy has just turned thirty and lives in a cute Cotswold village in England with her husband, baby girl and lovable but slightly crazy dog. Having always been a bookaholic with her head stuck in her Kindle Tracy decided to try her hand at a story idea she dreamt up and hasn’t looked back since.
Trick is a re-read for me; I love Titch and Danni’s story. Their story starts off with a bit of trickery, then turned into something much more.
Danni is sick of online dating; she decides to meet Carter, a banker from one of the dating apps. On her way to finally meet him, she receives a text from Carter they need to talk, which puts her on edge. When Danni shows up and sees Carter, she is far from thrilled and that Carter tricked her. Danni gives him no time to explain, and tells him off and leaves.
Carter, aka Titch, is tired of one nightstand and is looking for a long term relationship. He instantly connects with Danni online, afraid of what she will think of him; he sends her a picture of his Twin, Logan, and tells her he is a banker, which is far from the truth. He is full of tattoos and is a tattoo artist. Holy hotness is all I am saying. He is my favorite of all the Rebel ink Men. Spike is second.
After Danni leaves Carter high and dry, They reconnect at Biffs (Danni's best friend)Flat several weeks later and shocked to see each other. So much fun on that hot reunion, and then it was such a rollercoaster ride from there. I couldn't help but laugh throughout the book.
This book is everything; the chemistry is off the charts, push-pull, angst, and intense. At times I wonder if they were going to kill each other. The most crucial lesson Danni learns is never to judge a book by its cover. I love how Tracy Lorriane writes her heroines in this series. They are fierce, sassy, put the men in their place, and give as much as they take. Their comebacks are the best, and I couldn’t help but laugh. So far, this is my favorite in the series; even though the series is standalone, I recommend starting with book one: Hate you to understand all the characters.
Danni and Carter meet on a dating website. They immediately click and make plans to meet up, but she soon finds out that she has been tricked. Instead of him being a posh banker, he's actually a tattooed bad boy. She does not take kindly to being lied to and wants nothing more to do with him. But fate has other plans, and their paths soon cross again. Danni's brother Zack is getting married in Vegas, and as it turns out, Zack is best friends with Carter. What follows is a whirlwind romance full of undeniable chemistry and fiery hot banter.
I absolutely loved Carter. He was sexy, funny, kind and charming. But Danni... She was stubborn, judgmental and very frustrating at times. I had trouble connecting with her early on. That's one reason why it took me so long to get through this book. That, and in my opinion, there was a bit much sex. Every time I turned around these two were going at it. I prefer more story to the amount of sexy times there were. But hey, that's just my opinion. Other than that, I thoroughly enjoyed this story.
A lie, a lustful bond and a wishful connection. Trick you is soo soo good. What starts as a misunderstanding blossoms into a firestorm of a relationship.
I love Danni and Carter’s story. You need to read Hate you first as the characters story are woven together. This series is awesome.
Carter is tattooed with bad boy qualities. When he meets Danni on a dating app he knows she’s the one. The problem is he wasn’t completely honest. Can the fact he isn’t squeaky clean and a business tycoon work in his favour when it comes to playing for keeps?
The banter between these two is off the chart. It’s funny and full of fire. The tattoo parlour isn’t the centre of the story but the friendships shine through.
If you like strong headed alpha’s who know what they want Trick you is going to be your perfect book fix.
Available on KU. *I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
''Thank you,'' he whispers. It's so sincere that it has a ball of emotion clogging my throat and tears burning the back of my eyes. ''W-what for? I've not done anything.'' ''That's what you might think. But to me, you've done everything. You found me, you came for me, you... accepted me.''
I read Trick You in one sitting, I just couldn't stop. This story is so intoxicatingly beautiful.
Danni and Carter (Trick) meet on a dating site, and eventually they meet in person. But when Danni sees Carter, he's not the poshed guy she saw on a photo. It's a tattooed, wilder version that she meets. She's not happy one bit about that. Tattooed men aren't to be trusted with. She storms off. But faith has other plans, and so they meet again. You see, Danni is Zack's sister and also a friend of Tabitha. And Zack is Carter's boss.
Because of a certain something they all go to Vegas. And in the morning Danni and Carter both wake up with the rings on their fingers.
The question is: will what happened in Vegas now stay in Vegas? Or... not?
I loved both of them equally. Danni was so good hearted and determined, but failed every time with saying no. It was so funny to read! And Carter... this guy was epic. Funny, trustworthy, protective and so charming. Their banter was hypnotizing.
And somewhere in the middle of the story the emotions came crashing in. I was spellbound.
Trick You has a double trick meaning. Not only do we get Trick, but you my dear reader will also be tricked. And you won't even mind.
I liked Hate You - book 1 in the series - but I loved this one (I'm telling y'all. Even if I like the first book in a series, it's always the second book or anything after that where I truly loved it). I was so excited for Carter's story and it didn't disappoint! Loved his chemistry with Danni. This book was a mix between light and emotional and I live for that shit. Highly recommend! <3
Trick you is the second installment of the Rebel Ink series by the best selling author Tracy Lorraine. Told in dual perspectives, this book was one of the most anticipated books of mine!!
From the moment I read those snippets of scenes in Hate you , about the upcoming romance of Danni and Carter , I have been more than Excited to read this novel. And it was absolutely amazing , and not at all disappointing!!
Danni and Carter first meet on an online dating site . They both click with each other and decide to meet. Danni is oblivious to who actually Carter is and about his relations to her brother. So when they finally meet , she feels tricked. From there starts a battle of denied attraction and passion.
Carter is determined to win over Danni , because he still feels the spark they both felt when they met for the first time. Danni on the other hand is determined to ignore all his attempts. She was one stubborn women!!
The banter between two was very entertaining. I loved how Danni handled Carter and how Carter knew which of her buttons to push to get his desired reaction. They were both Spitfires and when they came close , sparks sizzled. I loved the way Tracy Lorraine has given us another memorable couple, whose story is going to stay with me for a long long time!!
This book is recommended to all the contemporary romance lovers , with a bit of erotica in it. Anyone who loves a badass tattooed hero and a spitfire heroine who is determined to give him he'll , should go for this book!!!
The following ratings are out of 5: Romance: 🖤💙 Heat/Steam: 🔥🔥🔥 Story/Plot: 📕📗 World building: 🌏🌍 Character development: 🙂🙁 Narration: 🎙🎙🎙 Narration Type: Duet Narration
The heroine:Daniella (a.k.a. Dani) - she didn’t want to do any more online dating, she kept getting matched up with guys who only wanted a quick hookup, and she wanted something more, someone she could spend time with and get to know. Though she has been giving one guy a chance lately. He has been terrific over chat, but didn’t get her hopes up for their date that evening. He has been a bit too good to be true.
The Hero:Carter (a.k.a. Titch) - He is manager for one of the tattoo shops that Dani’s brother Zack owns. He and Zack had been best friends for quite a while, though he never met Dani. Carter has had it bad for Dani since he first saw her picture on the dating site. He tricked her into going out with her by chatting her up via text messages on a dating site, posing as a banker.
The Story: When Dani found out that her date is not a banker, but instead is a tattooed bad, boy she walks out on him. Two weeks later he is surprised when she shows up at his coworker and friend Biff’s apartment while he is there. It turns out that Dani and Biff are best friends. The two of them end up getting together, hooking up and Titch confesses that the photo he posted online was his twin brother who is the banker in the family.
Dani is a bit unlikable; she thinks she is too good for Titch. She makes all kinds of assumptions about the kind of person he is based on his bad boy looks. He keeps apologizing for the bit of catfishing he did on the dating site, and she just won’t give him an inch despite hooking up with him. She was the one that first expected him to only want to hook up because he is a bad boy, but then she hooks up with him and wants to dump him right away, while he wants more with her. Yet she continues to rebuff him for a long time.
I usually really love the accidentally married in Las Vegas trope, but these two bickered for too long and got to know each other too well and I kind of enjoy the strangers who get married in Vegas more than this situation. I guess Dani’s superiority complex, and attitude made me not really give a hoot what happened for her, I like to identify with the heroine more, but she was so haughty. I think that Titch could have done a lot better and shouldn’t have settled for her. Of course, she got better as the story went on, but for me it was a bit too little too late.
This audiobook was told in dual points of view and was narrated in duet narration by Shane East and Stella Hunter. I love Shane East, he has a great accent, and a deep, sexy voice that hits just right. Stella Hunter also has a terrific voice, I am not quite as fond of her British accent, she does the accent well, but she sounds to posh and uppity. Both these narrators are expressive and very natural, and I just love that this was done in duet.
This is my favorite series by Tracy Lorraine. No lies.
Let me just start by saying i love Carter soooo muchhh. I swear he is the perfect man. Carter is a sweet soul who struggles with his demons, he has always been told that he is not good enough and that he is worthless. So eventually he believed it. When he saw the profile of this beautiful girl on the dating site, he was instantly attracted to her. But knowing he will get rejected he lied about his career but that blew up in his face.
Lucky for him the mysterious girl AKA Dani was not only Biff's best friend, she was Zack's little sister. Talk about luck.
Carter was perfect, literally perfect. He knew what he wanted and he was adamant to get the girl. I wanted to bitch slap Dani at the begging cause she was a bitch to Carter, but i understood her reasons. Carter screamed bad boy and she just didn't want to get hurt.
These two were so cute together. When Dani finally decided to give each other a chance she found out that Carter is exactly the man she always wanted. Their story was funny and full of fire, but it was also emotional.
After reading Hate you I really wanted to read the story between Danni and Titch. I actually did not expect their story to be so funny, emotional and steamy.
The plot of the story actually suits the pretty well. Tattooed guy with bad boy qualities meets posh and proper girl on a datin website. Obviously there‘s a twist and Carter (aka Titch or Trick) wasn‘t honest about his appearance and job. A common something leads them both to Las Vegas. But not everything that happens in Vegas stays in Vegas. So once they wake up the next day they discover that they got married.
I really enjoyed the story between those two characters. Carter is such a sweetheart underneath his hard and tattooed exterior. He fights for what he wants. I was a bit disappointed with Danni in the first half of the book. She obviously was very attracted to Carter but couldn‘t let go of her expectations that she didn‘t even want.
This story really broke my heart at some times and put it back together in the next few chapters. I can‘t wait to read more from this group.
If you read the first book in this series, you knew this story was coming but let me say, this is phenomenal! LOL! If you haven't read the first book, stop reading this review and do that first. There's overlap between the two stories. A LOT of overlap.
Onto other things. I kinda feel for Harrison, Zach, and Danni's parents as all three of their kids eloped five thousand miles from home in Vegas - only one with an semblance of forethought. What that leads to for Danni and Carter is an explosive love story that is a MUST READ!
In addition to their story, I really like how this brings characters from other series into the mix for cameos. Be it Ben & Lauren and Joe or the super easy tie-in of Harrison & Summer, it is fun to see little glimpses of these other great characters and show how it's a smaller world than we sometimes realize. Even if it is somewhat fictional. I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
I suggest to read #1 book first; the sequence of events will be more understandable. I must admit that I knew from beginning this will not be 5 star read, because of too many coincidences. Even I am reading Romance genre, I like stories to be believable with realistic set ups.
I am rating this book with 3 stars mainly because heroine is real judgmental bitch, at least in first part. Than she magically transforms into caring »oh I'm in love« wife. I was really frustrated with her, than I was frustrated with hero because he never put her in her place. It's pity that all this heroes are portrayed as strong, almighty humans, but they aren't capable to stand on their own two feet with own brains.
I can't get enough of Titch!!! I love every single thing about Danni and Carter (better known as Titch), from how they met to where their life became intertwined and finally where they eventually end up. It was quite a journey. Overall, I am absolutely loving this series and I highly recommend reading this book. I can't wait to listen to this one as an audiobook!!! Trick You by Tracy Lorraine is an EPIC read that will join the ranks of the BIBLIO-ARISTOCRACY!!!
I hate to say it, but this wasn't a favorite of mine from this author. The brothers best friend is one of my favorite tropes, plus that cover had me all excited, but I honestly couldn't stand our heroine, which made it so hard to connect with the book in general.
So Danni and Carter 'meet' each other on a dating website and form a genuine bond and connection. Danni is tried of the dating world and how untrusting most men are, so she's really excited about her relationship with Carter. When they take the next step and see each other face to face for the first time, she's in for a shock: Carter isn't the professional , put-together banker she imagined she was talking to, but instead he's a tatted 'bad' boy who she thinks right away is trouble. She immediately shuts down completely, and acts so unnecessarily rude, over the top, selfish, and quite frankly really childish. I get that he lied, but Carter didn't do it out of malice -- but she just wouldn't give him the chance to even explain.
Carter posted a fake picture of himself on the dating website because he knew if he posted the real him, Danni would have never started talking to him in the first place. All of his feelings and the things that he shared with her was very much real.. But she couldn't get passed his one lie, which honestly wasn't the big deal she was making it out to be. Carter was the clear winner of this book for me; he was genuine, sweet, protective, the right amount of cocky and dirty, but just so good. And he was unbelievably patient with Danni, but I thought he deserved better than her.
Also there was SO much sex in this book. Which I have never complained about before because I like my romances filthy, (the filthier the better) but Danni was only sort of nice when they were going at it, and then she would go back to being her stubborn self as soon as her good feelings faded.
I absolutely adore this author, but because of how much I disliked Danni, this book was hard for me to get through.
**I received an ARC of this book and these are my honest opinions.**
This is a brother best friend Romance at it’s very best. Tracy Delivers a Poignant, captivating story that had me. Hooked from the first to the last page!" It was “PERFECTION!"
emotionally riveting, and an intricately plotted work of art. I couldn’t put it down I was hooked the plot just flowed I felt every emotion the character we’re going through I couldn’t get enough Tracy has became one of my all time favorite authors her writing is stunning and flawless I can’t wait for more of this series..
I got this book as an ARC from the author for an honest review. Trick You coming July 16... Pre-Order now...
I don't know, but I feel that there's going to be a book about Spike and Zach's sister Kas. I don't know, but I will see it. If so, I am going to be reading that one too.
Dang, I was right too. I knew that Spike and Kas were going to get a book. I can't freaking wait... I know it's going to be more interesting, especially because she is at the club stripping, and maybe she's going to be his roommate, which I think she is...
So with that being said... Gah.... this book was good. I did felt bad for Carter, aka Titch, because Danni was pushing him away, but he knew that it was felt there. To learn that he was a twin to turn around and see how Logan was as a person; changed her mind in the end. I was like finally. It took him to be in that cage fight to look into her feelings that she tried to get rid of...
But in the end, she knew that she couldn't fight it anymore. Plus, the whole time, I was like why people in every book I read either doing an idea; mistake; accidentally marriage in Las Vegas. I was like what about a Florida wedding dang; at least it's hot there. But hey, if Spike gets married there, I wouldn't say anything. 😅
I was just glad they worked things out with each other, and she Danni stopped running from Titch when she knew full well she wanted him. I cracked up when she got jealous when he was flirting with Mel. 😂...
Besides that, I do hope that he works things out with his twin brother. But I don't know about his parents I am still on the fence about them. They are just horrible; even Logan is horrible. But I want him to show them that he doesn't need them. Show them that he has a baby on the way and that his child is never going to feel not wanted. Because as I reading this book, I was like yeah. Titch got a disability and darn wasn't it Dyslexia.
One thing I liked was he had friends who cared about him. I think that Danni's parents are going to care about him more than his parents ever did.
Gah, this was my favorite Tracy Lorraine book to date! I legit loved it so much. Carter was a bit of a broken hero who had me falling at his feet since Hate You but I just fell more and more as I got to know him in his own book. He was adorable yet so sexy and he cared so much for Dani. Sigh. I loved that he didn't give up on her and basically "forced" her to make it work. She honestly got on my nerves in the beginning because she was hurting him with her dismissal and judgment, and it hurt to see that happen knowing his story. But the more time they spent together, the more she saw of him and the amazing person he was, she fell hard and realized he was perfect for her.
I just loved them together. Their story was super fun and exciting but also a tad emotional, which is my kind of jam. I love getting both these sides in a book, for me it makes the perfect story and these two were perfect for me. I enjoyed this book way more than Hate You but I still loved that Zack and Biff were a part of this book a lot. This whole gang is super fun and I just love all the coincidences amonsgt them. And I'm already so excited for the next book, as always we got majors hints. Poor Zack! But also lucky him, his bff's will forever be family ahah.
Trick You was one of my favorite 'wake up married in Vegas' romances I've ever read. This couple will steal your heart and you'll root so hard for Carter to convince his girl they are meant to be.

Trick You is the second book in the Rebel Ink Series and my god what a perfect addition it was. I LOVED LOVED LOVED this book. I absolutely adore Tracy’s writing and the easy to love characters she creates. I was hooked from the very first chapter and was so sad to see it end.
Danni. Girl has some serious will power. I can tell you I wouldn’t have been able to resist Carter, just saying. Feisty, independent, bit of a control freak and so damn stubborn, but fiercely protects those she loves. She had a set idea of what she wanted in a man but was completely surprised and a little bit scared by the emotions she felt for Carter, especially since he was the exact opposite.
Titch (Carter). Be still my beating heart. I want a Carter all for myself. Can someone say swoon! I loved everything about Carter, his creativity, his passion, his attentiveness and his thoughtfulness. I think everyone has a little soft spot in their hearts for a broken bad boy with a heart of gold. My heart broke for how he grew up, always being made to feel less than his true potential and not loved for him. But despite the way his family treated him, he kept pushing and excelling in life. The family he created with the guys and girls from Rebel Ink and how accepting they were of him was beautiful.
Carter and Danni were absolute fire together! Seriously, their playful and teasing banter made for some off the charts sexual tension. Tracy definitely knows how to write some deliciously sexy scenes that will have your cheeks heating and the butterflies in your belly swarming.
It was great to catch up with Biff and Zach and I loved the dynamic between the group. It was also refreshing to see the dynamic between Zach and Carter, considering Danni is Zach’s little sister. Zach was protective but supportive, which I loved. I am so unbelievably excited to read Spike’s story! So mysterious and very intrigued to get to know him and Kas more.

4.5 This book is the second book in the Rebel Ink Series and it is an awesome addition to the series. This romance story is one that everyone should read and I absolutely love this authors books and this series is hot. Book #1 Hate You This is Danni and Carter's story and you really do not want to miss.
Danni is a very beautiful, sexy independent woman and she wants to find a connection with some one. Danni has been on a few dates from her dating app but now she wants more, only when she gets there the guy is most defiantly not the same guy that she has been speaking to as he looks nothing like the picture she has. Now she wants nothing to do with him, he wasn't what she was expecting.
Carter 'Trick' is a hot tattooed sexy guy that knows Danni is worth every second he can give her, all he needs to do now is prove to her that all there chats and words they have shared that that was still him it was all real. Carter has been through so much especially with family and my heart totally ached for him
He cant believe that Danni is his best friends sister and she cant believe that he tricked her, she feels lied to and she isn't having any if it only fate has other ideas and when they meet again there sexual tension is of the charts and the chemistry that these two have is hot. Danni is very feisty with him and wont let him push her is she doesn't want to.
I really love Danni and Carter and everything that he has been through is so hard and I really felt for him and when your reading it you can feel every word on the page. This book had my emotions all over the place and the way that this author writes really has you so invested in the characters that you cant put the book down until the very end.
I really enjoyed this book and I so love the tattooed sexy AF guy that this author writes fantastically in this series. I highly recommend that you read book one in this series because it is awesome and you will love that just as much.
haha, FINALLY finished this book! I did not want to give up on it.
I started this back months ago! The story is okay, but most of it I just found so cringe worthy that I just couldn't get through reading through it. So, I would stop, read something else and then back to it every now and then.
Dani and Carter basically get thrown together and forced to spend time together after they agree to go with Biff (her BFF) and Zack (her brother and Carters friend) to Vegas to get married, Biff and Zack that is. Dani is all business and Carter is a tattoo artist, but they end up eventually getting along.
So the story itself isn't so bad, but some of the one-liners were just so corny! If you can get past that then you'll enjoy the story, I'm sure.
The MFC is a stuck up. She meets the MMC through an app. He is not who he told her he was, not a banker rather a tattoo artist. Coincidentally and serendipitally (if that is even a word), he's her brother's friend and colleague. So to punish his dishonesty she uses him for a ONS and throws him to the curb. *GASP* Cruel Bit*h! He definitely feels mighty punished after a round of wild sex! Yep! Danni The Punisher!!!
I liked Carter(Trick) and at the beginning I wasn't crazy of Danni and her thoughts or reasonings on why she didn't want Carter she was being stuck up and I hated how she treated him or why Carter still wanted her. I was glad that they worked everything out and I seriously hated his family and the way that they treated him. I was happy to read about Zack and Tabitha and the difference in relationship now, and can't wait for the next story.
rcvd an arc at no cost to author...voluntarily reviewed with my own thoughts and opinions.
Carter has no boundaries, “and you’re hot. Especially when you get that look in your eye where I’m not sure if you want to eff me or kill me.” I liked this book, I loved Carter.
What happens in Vegas may not always stay there! Debra @Janise’s Jivin’ Book Blog
After having read Hate You the first book in the Rebel Ink series, I already loved Dani and Carter! Their story just made me love them more. Especially after reading the whole thing. They are both lovable characters, with charm, loyalty, witt, and above all the ability to love beyond expectation.
A mistake can turn into so much more given a chance. Carter gets his chance but Dani for sure doesn’t make it easy. When things look like they may be looking up we get an unexpected moment that throws a wrench into what could be their happily ever after.
This story has moments that will bring you to tears and a few that make you want to sigh and even a giggle or two may appear. This all equals a story that is well worth reading again and again.
Danni is Zach's sister. Danni is Biffs best friend. Titch (Carter) is Zach and Biff's friend/work colleague.
Danni wants someone, something fulfilling, nothing life committing. Doing the online dating fun, then getting ghosted after the guys have had their fun. She wants a connection, get to know someone outside the bedroom. So going on another online date, she comes face to face with someone she knows. She realises that she's been tricked and possibly lied to. She turns around and leaves. She has a type, sophisticated, not a bad boy. She's been burned before.
Carter (Titch), didn't mean to trick Danni, he was being honest when they were chatting via the dating app. From the first time he saw her profile picture, he knew she was the one. Sometime after Danni ditched Carter, they meet up again for Zach's birthday meal. That's when everything clicks, that they have friends in common.
They've managed to avoid one another, until they're called upon by Zach and Biff, to take an impromptu trip to Las Vegas. They're there to witness their marriage. They themselves go off to enjoy Vegas, while the newlyweds consummate.
Realising next morning they're married too. Wanting to put the fact that Carter is now her Husband, Danni needs space to get her feelings and her head around it. Carter doesn't give her that chance, he moves himself into her flat.
Can they figure things out?
*I received an Arc copy in exchange for an honest review*
Wowza!! The sexual tension right from the start, then just a few chapters in, bam! It’s off the charts. I don’t think there’s one single part of this book where the sheer love and devotion of Titch and Danni isn’t strikingly obvious, even when they are claiming to not care for the other.
As a second book in the series it literally starts from a point right near the end of book one and carries straight on from two different characters point if view. Carter ‘Titch’ is such an amazing character and I just wanted to wrap him up in my arms and look after him. I especially loved how he was the character that had the damaged past and needed the extra love and care, yet he was the one who knew what, and who he loved and he never gave up his pursuit of Danni.
Such a great read and I can’t wait to delve into this world again with Spike and Kas ... I’m guessing that will be an explosive read!
so underwhelming, all the angst we were promised wasn’t there. Also why are there so many mentions of the FMC not wanting to become a “fat pig” just because she’s eating a burger ????? We’re in 2023…. Time to ban this type of fat shaming behavior from books.
(3.5 stars) Tracy Lorraine is back with the second installment of her Rebel Ink series, this time with a brother’s best friend, catfishing, accidental vegas wedding story heavy on the tense push-pull and loaded with steam.
When we first meet Danni, she’s excitedly going to meet Carter- the straight laced guy she’s been talking to from an online dating site. She’s cautiously optimistic after a slew of failed attempts with others- they seem to have a real connection, but alas, it is too good to be true She’s been catfished - Carter is no straight laced banker- he’s a tatted bad boy- and she has zero interest in hearing his explanation and has no time for bad boys. Unfortunately for her, Carter (nicknamed Trick) is already part of her life- he just so happens to work with her friend and is close friends with her brother. Trick isn’t going to turn that gift from fate down- he knows he has something with Danni if she could just see past his exterior, if he could just prove only his picture was fake, and he’s unwilling to give up, especially after she gives into some bedroom time in a moment of anger. Shenanigans ensue, accidentally Vegas wedding complicates things, and the push-pull is intense. Danni denies and rebukes, Trick keeps trying.
Unfortunately, I really struggled to like Danni for about 70% of the book- perhaps soured by our first meeting where she’s so abrupt, immature, and closed minded. No one wants to be catfished, but it was clear from the first “meet cute” that Trick wasn’t doing it with bad intentions, and even when their paths cross and she gets to know him better, she’s still judgmental and assumptive about him. She won’t give him the time of day to explain himself or to get to know him- but she has no issues having tons of love-hate sex with him. She just didn’t click for me- I felt she was unnecessarily obstinate, and the large chip on her shoulder and her abruptness with others around her just prevented me from being able to connect with her….and it also prevented me from believing these two actually had any connection other than physical- and there is a lot of physical- mostly “I dont like you” sex. Carter was definitely endearing- he has a lot of heart, and his intentions are good- he wants to be accepted and seen for who he is- not his tats. He’s so authentic, protective, and charming- and hes also sexy in the bedroom. At times I wondered why he was so persistent with Danni- he’s got so much to offer. When Danni has her turning point with Trick, I saw new side of her- an open, softer, caring and more likable side- the last 20% of the book has a version of the couple I’d love to spent more time with.
I loved the message and themes here- around not judging a book by its cover, how you find love in the places you least expect, and how you are usually your biggest barrier when it comes to finding true love- sometimes you just got to get out of your own way and open your heart and mind. I’m glad Danni did that, eventually- but she just wasn’t my favorite character to spend time with, even though I loved Carter/Titch/Trick.
Yeah he sorta lied, OK, he definitely lied, to the gorgeous woman he'd been talking to on the dating app. But only because he knew if he posted a real pic of himself in all his hot, tatted up glory, she'd take one look at never have talked to him. But now they're finally meeting in person, and exactly what he was afraid of happens. Danni sees that he's not the polished suit she thought and takes off. Thank God karma loves Trick and he finds out she's actually his best friend's little sis. Or perhaps not so thankfully because if her brother finds out what he really wants to do (has done) to his sis, he'll kill him!
Well, I identified with this in more ways than one. 1) my brother is one of the most overprotective alpha nut brothers in the history of all brothers when it comes to his baby sister, so I understand Trick and Danni's aversion to Zach finding out. 2) I had the hugest crush on my brother's best friend once upon a time. But that's where my identifying ends because I could not stand Danni. She was a complete judgy snobby bitch. So what if Trick wasn't some posh suit, he was a serious sweetheart inside where it really counts, and she couldn't let herself see it because she was too stuck up. Yuck. That being said, the story itself is pretty great, and the chemistry between these two is fire. There may have been almost too much sex, but they had to do something to get past Danni's bitchy attitude, right? So 3.5 stars, rounded down to 3 for the official rating seems fair.

This is my first book from this author, and she had me at tattooed bad boy.
Carter and Danni have chemistry coming out the wazoo, but boy does she fight it.
In fact, I said to others more than once as I was listening that Danni was a bipolar, raging bitch for a bit part of the story. And I did scream at my speakers for Carter to run run run just as fast as he can, away from Danni.
However, she did get better in the last say 30% of the story. And I didn't want to strangle her haha.
I hadn't read the first book so I was a bit behind with the relationships that were happening before, but that didn't affect my enjoyment of Carter and Danni's tale.
I loved Shane East's narration - he had that Danny Dyer, rough gruff voice down pat. and was perfect for our Carter.
Stella Hunter was great telling the tale, but, and this just might be me, it felt at times that her accent was a cross between English and American? It felt confused to me. But again, that might just be me.
I was drawn into this story - who doesn't love a drunken wedding in Vegas story?
Trick You was an enjoyable, if not at times frustrating listen, and I would like to hear more in the future.
