I’m not in the market for a Daddy.

Famous last words, right?

I wasn’t in the market to get kidnapped either. Lucky for me, a burly, beautiful man decided he was going to rescue me and take care of me whether I liked it or not. Well, I did like it. Maybe too much and even though I’m safe now, he still wants to take care of me.

Did I mention he’s a member of the Iron Heretics MC? Turns out to be a good thing because my past is about to catch up with me and there’s no way I’d survive disarming that threat alone.

Disarm is the second book in the Iron Heretics MC series. The series is best read in order.

I find this series to be lacking in depth. The bones are there but the execution just never goes deep enough. And that’s the issue I have with this novella. We land straight in the middle of the story, so we’re denied any buildup. It’s been a while since I read the last book and I vaguely remember Axel and Leith, but now it’s so insta that I’m missing any on page info that would make me believe these two are meant to be. It just is.

This had some sweet moments but nowhere near enough relationship building to satisfy. Disappointing because I like these two characters. What I saw of them anyway.

This book was way too short! It was like one moment we had Leith recovering at Axel's and the next, the book was ending. The middle portions of the book flew right by and I was a bit shocked when I checked the book progression percentage and saw "94%" just when I was settling into more loving between Axel and Leith.

I honestly needed more of the story and then more of them as a couple damn it!! I just needed morrree!! *wails*

DISARM overlaps a bit with the previous book DISRUPT and even though I've read that one I had to go back and reference the ending so I could fully understand what was going on. That unfortunately didn't set the best tone at the beginning since I felt like the parts of the story that were from the previous book were left unexplained in this one and just kind of dropped.

However, I did like both Axel and Leith and they have a really sweet and caring relationship. Axel is definitely a protector and from the moment he meets Leith he knows that he wants to do everything he can to care for him, specifically in a Daddy/boy relationship. This is a major slow burn but it fits the circumstances of how the book started and I liked that Michelle Frost didn't rush things and let Leith heal, both physically and mentally, before jumping into a new relationship. We also get a few hints about the couple for the next book and it should be interesting.

Content Warning: Leith was kidnapped, tortured, and chained up; Leith was abused in a past Daddy/boy relationship

Can no longer ignore the problem

In the first few books, I was able to ignore the way the author wrote about trauma.. but this book, in which such terrible things happen to the MC, I can’t ignore it. Sure, the MC didn’t want to see friends after it happened, sure there was a few weeks (told, not shown) of not leaving the house.. But for what he went through… to talk about it like he read about it rather than experiencing it. No. A FEW sentences about seriously traumatic years-long domestic violence and the conversation moves on… thats not right. And in the end, love cures all - which wasn’t a lot because he was perfectly fine. Despite a normal person having emotional and mental problems and ptsd.

Its just ridiculous and disheartening.

3 Stars of the Middle of the Road Variety

Not bad, not excellent. I tend to be a little harsh on reviews because I have a level of expectations. I read all the classics in high school & college.. Now I went to be entertained.

This is a more typical Daddy/Boy story rather than two guys playing for a night. Axel is a big Daddy type that really wants Keith to be his boy. Keith was taken from Spritz Villa in IH #1. This details his recovery.

I thought the added addition of Keith's former Daddy was unnecessary filler. Making him a Devils Reject member was ridiculous. Still, there were plenty of sweet moments to up my opinion rating.

This one had a strange pacing. It felt like the most action packed parts were at the beginning of the book, and the buildup for the rest fizzed out to nothing. It does feel like Leith could use a break, so putting him through a lot would be unfair. Still.
Axel and Leith make a cute couple. Daddy kink isn't my thing, though. It felt cheesy here.
It wasn't a bad book by any means. It just wasn't my cup of tea.

Sweet and Heartwarming

This is a good starter MC romance. Not too heavy on the MC aspects, but definitely true to them. The romance between Axel and Leith was sweet, and felt very authentic to the characters. I would have liked a little more of the suspense angle, but that’s just me. I love high suspense. That said, that part of the book was well done. I just wanted more of it. But it being short in no way diminished my enjoyment of this book. Highly recommended.

Good. A ‘nice’ MC book, in that they are accepting of gay men, and they are funded through running an illegal fighting circuit, instead of the usual drugs or human trafficking. The love interest is obvious from page 1, it’s only a matter of when they will figure it out.

Like a first draft

Ok I admit this was the first book in this series I read so maybe if I had read the first book it woukd have been better. But honestly I don't think so. It was like the author had a rough idea of the book but didn't put any detail into it. So Leith was kidnapped and then he was found and then they killed that guy, then his okd Daddy came back, they set a trap and his new daddy killed him. And oh yeah let me throw in a lot of other characters that will be featured in other books. Legit that's how it read, that's probably more specific than the whole book. Shame it was a good storyline but it was just an idea thrown together without the actual details to make it a real book. I wouldn't waste my time reading any thing else by this author.

Trigger warnings: abuse, beatings, torture, PTSD, etc
I’m really enjoying this series so much, and while the Daddy kink may not be one of my favorites, I have to agree that for Leith, it’s everything he needed. It may have taken some rough stuff to get where he needed to be, but it’s put him in the path of what he needs.
Leith didn’t have a great time growing up. As soon as he could leave, he ran as far as he could. Trying to make friends in a new place and get to know people, he got mixed up in a club and found a ‘daddy’. It was everything Leith ever wanted. Until the rose colored glasses came off, then it was nothing but horror. And once again, Leith finds himself on the run. He finds another place to settle down, but not getting too close to anyone until Pax kind of inserts himself in Leith’s life. But even though he adores Pax, he still can’t let his guard down. Not even around the one man he wishes he really could call Daddy. Axel. But he doesn’t have the nerve to ask Axel to stay and it ends up costing him a lot. Kidnapped and tortured, Leith just wants to die, but Axel finds him in time. But even though they may have taken care of this threat, there’s more from his past coming and Leith thinks it may be time to run again. But can he make it on his own, or can he finally trust someone and let Axel in and be all that he wants to be for this man?
With just the little bit in his past that Leith has had to go through, I could understand why he’s anxious to run. And meeting the ‘daddy’ that abused him, I don’t blame him for running again and not trusting a soul. And that’s what I love about Axel. He’s a true Daddy. He knows how to take care of someone and to be patient. It’s not easy. He gets angry, not at Leith, but the situation and he has to remember to remain calm around Leith. It’s not easy when every instinct in him wants to take this young man as his own and call him boy. It’s not easy being patient when all he wants to do is bend him over the nearest surface, but Axel knows what it’s like to be abused himself and he would never become the man he was raised with. He knows how to fight his baser instincts. He knows how to be soft and sweet and patient, and when to be a little forceful to get through the fears and stubbornness. He’s everything Leith ever needed or wanted in someone and I’m glad he got to be with him. It takes time to get over a trauma and to trust, but when it comes, it’s the most beautiful thing. Because Axel knows he earned it. He knows how hard it was for that guard to drop and because of it, he got to see Leith blossom back into the sassy sweet boy he wanted.
These guys know what pain is. They go through a lot to get to where they are. They often leave bad homes and run and end up in even worse situations, but sometimes there’s some really good people out there who take people under their wings and show them what it’s like to have someone to lean on and trust. And I love that these two got to find each other.

3.5 stars!!

First…this book was SHORT. Like a novella, which was very disappointing because I was super into it!!

If you’re looking for a typical Daddy romance, this isn’t it.

In fact, the only aspects of this dynamic we see on page involve Leith calling Axel “Daddy” and Axel calling Leith “Sweetboy”

That’s it. We get one sex scene in the book at the very end, and it’s very much a “normal” scene.

There is no discipline, no punishments, nothing of the sort.

This made sense to me because of what Leith went through in the past with his last Daddy, and also the trauma he faced more recently.

Honestly though…I will say I’m not normally a fan of Daddy romances…….but shockingly, I wanted MORE!!!

With any type of power exchange relationship, I feel a bit uncomfortable with it. I’m very independent and hate people telling me what to do, so when I see a character in that position (even when they like it!) I get a little claustrophobic.

BUT!!!!

“We’ll be partners, and if you choose to put your trust in me, to give me the honor of taking care of you, I promise you, sweet boy, I will never abuse it.”

I’ve realized that THIS verbalization is what I have always needed to enjoy power exchange dynamics.

I loved that Axel was clear that they were still equals no matter what, and that he wouldn’t ever hurt Leith.

And then Leith:

“The way he took care of me, but still gave me the space to make my own decisions—unless I asked him for help—had completely cemented my decision to trust him.”

YESSS!!!!!! This is perfect and exactly what I needed to hear to put myself at ease about this dynamic.

So yes, I wanted MORE. More of their relationship, more of the whole book, even more of the Daddy dynamic!!

Eh….

This was a sweet, daddy/boy-lite, no burn book.

While Axel and Leith were super sweet, I just felt their story lacked a little substance. Poor Leith was put through the wringer. He had so much trauma both from the past and the present that I was worried he’d never be able to move on. Axel was super patience and supportive of Leith in every way. Still, it seemed both of them could have used some more depth. Leith just seemed to be a vehicle for trauma while Axel was a supportive figure without any development of his own.

Overall, the story was sweet, yes, but I didn’t feel any real attachment to either character. Ultimately, I was glad this was such a short book so I didn’t have to put too much time into it. A meh 3 stars for me.

Enjoyable, but alot

Very enjoyable, but there was a lot packed in. This is what I would call "dark-lite". There were dark themes and the MC itself is a tad dark but its not really a gritty story. IT was an enjoyable read and I liked the continuation of this series.

I just felt like a lot was packed onto Leith. He was kidnapped completely randomly ( not to the story, but as a character choice) and then all the rest packed on seemed a bit much. Still it was a good story and definitely worth reading. I will continue the series and would recommend this author any day ending in " y".

Another good addition to the Iron Heretics MC world!

This story continues on from Disrupt and would be best read straight after (which I didn't do and had to go back and read the last chapter to get myself situated). I did enjoy this story - as I have all of Michelle Frost's books - however I didn't feel it was a strong as some of her previous works. I did like Leith and Axel and I enjoyed seeing the relationship form between them... I just felt that there was a lot more time spent on the MC/violence/drama side of things when I would've liked more time spent with the two main characters and the other side characters who we have met. Still worth reading for sure!!

Color outside the lines

“For the first time in my life, I was beginning to understand what family should feel like.” I absolutely adore and love this family. They have their own form of justice (deserved I find) but you know with 100% certainty that they love and take care of their own. Leith deserves all of this family and more. He broke my heart with everything he’s survived but Axel helped heal the hurt with his care and protectiveness. It didn’t hurt how super hot and sexy he is either. This MC club and amazing series is a shield I’d stand behind any day.

This one was better! I enjoyed the way the relationship between the two MCs developed and their camaraderie with the other members of the biker club, but the major conflict still fell a bit flat for me. In both books so far, there's been high stakes without follow through. They ramped it up throughout the book, only to resolve the issue very succinctly at the very end, usually within a page or two. It kind of ruins the whole thing. But the romance in this one was sweet and I enjoyed learning more about the other characters.

Perfect

This 2nd book was just perfect with Axel protecting Leith after being kidnapped. This book is best read after book one as it is part of a series and characters crossover from first book. Heavy on angst like a biker book should be with lots of muscles and tattoos but also manly bikers who protect their own and love to cuddle. Again I highly recommend this series and on to book 3.

Disarm: Leith and Axel

I'm usually not big on the daddy/boy storylines, I usually find them silly and off putting, but this one was fantastic. I really enjoyed the dynamic between both MCs and they flowed really well together and that's what makes for a realistic romance and I thoroughly enjoyed Axel and Leith. These Iron Heretics are a lot of fun to read and I'm enjoying the series and highly recommend it.

Awesome

Loved it. Poor Leith gets kidnapped and beaten for information. Axel from Heretics rescues him. They seem to be progressing very well, albeit slowly with their relationship when an ugly part of Leith's past comes roaring in. Leigh needs to find the strength to trust Axel completely and let him in. Looking forward to the next one.

Tragically sweet

Leith and Axel have a pretty dramatic start. When Leith is kidnapped and tortured. And Axel’s daddy side comes out in full force. But once one enemy is destroyed another one takes his place. But with Axel by his side their isn’t anything or anyone getting Leith again. I truly loved this book! It’s low steam but a super sweet love story.

I loved Leith (Baby Boy) and Axel (Daddy), but as a romance mm mc book, this was a lot of bs. There is pretty much NO romance or any sexy time scenes present until the very end. How then is this a romance in any way? The 2 men are awesome and great for each other, but this story could have been way better.

This has been the weakest book in the series and it’s a real shame because I had been looking forward to Axels book for a while. It just didn’t seem as deep as the other books in matters of plot or character development and seemed a little rushed. However the the writing style is so enjoyable that I ate up the pages.

Good story but too short so it felt a bit underdeveloped.

Leith wants a daddy but he was abused by one when he left home and now he doesn't trust easily and is running away from his past. Axel is very sweet with Leith, a real daddy perfect for him.

I'm quite enjoying Michelle Frost's novella length stories. I usually find novellas lacking but not hers. SO far all the book sin this series hover around a certain event in these characters lives, but they still hold up strong as stand alones.

Short and sweet

While not my favorite from this series it was a fun read. Glad to finally get Leiths story. It was well written and didnt feel rushed. Felt believable for the story.
Will definitely continue to read this series.

Not my kind of book

I was curious about this book so gave it a shot. I've definitely discovered that it's not my type of thing at all.

Having said that it was OK for some just not for me.

Daddy/Boy MC Romance

I enjoyed this book. Axel is so caring and sweet, a gentle daddy teddy bear. Leith is a sassy but hurt boy in need of a daddy who won't abuse his trust again. Match made in heaven.

Best read in series order for a more enjoyable read.

Leith got kidnapped and thanks to the god, he wasn't raped by the kidnapper. But! Leith was a boy and his previous daddy was the one who abused him, beaten and used him. Ruined my fun reading his story.
