Chloe Adams is a wolf shifter who has been adopted by a pack in Colorado and is engaged to the son of current Alpha king. However it is incredibly obvious that Chloe simply is not in love with her fiance. She constantly describes him as her best friend and often shies away from any physical contact because she feels no passion for him.

Part of the mythology of this story and the world-build is that these wolf shifters can have fated mates but that mate may not be someone of your own time. So wolves from past (and presumably future?) can come through a time portal to find their mate.

This is what happens to Chloe. A wolf from the 12th(?) century named Fenris makes his way through a portal and thanks to a character I liked to call Dr. Exposition, we know all about how time traveling fated mates work. He is conveniently there to explain it all to Chloe and her grumpy, jealous fiance.

Truthfully I thought the book was well written and both Chloe and Fenris were enjoyable, appealing characters that you could easily root for.

However much as I liked the writing, I thought there were areas of plotting an some narrative decisions that weren't successful for me. For one thing, I think having the PNR werewolf shifter element as well as the time travel element felt like overkill. Frankly since neither Chloe nor Fenris ever shifted once during the book, I wondered why they had to be werewolves in the first place? I can only think that the fated-mates plot point necessitated the characters being wolves and the whole going into heat needing hot-sexy-sex was also part of that decision. But the time travel element with Chloe going back to a time so much more primitive than her own was the dominant element of the book and had enough potential to hang all the conflict on. Frankly I found the whole werewolf thing more of a distraction than something critical to the characters or plotting.

I enjoyed the scenes of Chloe adjusting to her time with Fenris. And although the author set up the ease of Chloe's transition with making her a blogger who was an expert at DIY in old-timey homemaking, crafting, living off the land etc. I thought her transition was too easy. I wish it had been better established that Chloe had felt out of step with modern times or something so that we could understand why psychologically she felt more at home in the 12th century. I think the kernel of the idea was there, I just don't think the author brought it home. As a result, I thought Chloe's transition was much too easy. I would completely FREAK. THE. FUCK. OUT. If I was transported back to so many centuries int he past. Chloe moped for awhile.

And finally my biggest criticism with the book was the constant retelling of the same scene from both the heroine's and the hero's perspective. Felt repetitive and added nothing to the scenes.

Yes, this review may sound a bit harsh but I did in fact enjoy the read and would still recommend the book.

This was a promising sweet story with lots of humor that was a 5 star read for me -- until I read the epilogue. Instead of focusing on Fenris' reunion with his family the story segues into a preview of the next book and frankly, I feel cheated.

I wanted to give this book more stars but I didn't get a werewolf vibe from either the hero or heroine. Neither of them exhibited any of the usual attributes except for keen scent and hearing. Oh and neither of them shifted. When provoked the hero always reached for a sword. If he's a werewolf you automatically think he's going to sprout some fur.

I also felt the author took the easy way out on the time travel aspect. There was never any real conflict on getting him returned to his time. He was conveniently given a spell for a roundtrip journey. Although I will say the end time travel by the heroine was clever.

There were also too many elements that reminded me of Koko Brown's Frozen in Time which was also an interracial time travel romance with a Viking. Like both of the heroines refused to talk with the hero after being slighted. And when the heros fail to get the heroine back they seek the advice of a friend or family member who advise them to woo said heroine. Even two characters in each book freeze to death in a mountain after losing the love of their life.

All in all I will say that this book is well written despite the constant retelling of a scene through both the hero and heroines point of view.

I absolutely adored Fenris and Chloe. Her love of making everything from scratch made her the ideal viking wife. This book was the perfect combination of steamy and sweet. Quick, addictive read. Hard to put down. 5 enormous stars!

4 "Fated Mates AND Time Travel!" Stars!

Loved! This was my kind of Kool-aid. I absolutely loved both Feris and Chloe. An ancient brute and a modern beauty with a penchant for pioneer ways. So good. I'm jumping right to the next book. Happy reading!

Was excited to read this after reading Her Russian Billionaire. This book, however took a bit to get into. I just couldn't empathize with the heroine in the beginning. She kind of annoyed me even though it wasn't her fault that she was some kind of undersexed happy homemaker. Maybe I should have empathized with her because she 'endured' Rafe's kisses, but I couldn't because she was the one who was all gung ho to marry him and she kept convincing Rafe that she loved him. Yes, I know she desperately wanted a family but something was missing in her character's introspections/actions that prevented me from liking her. Technically, I knew all the reasons why I should root for her, but they didn't fully come together.

When Fenris came into the picture, I felt zero empathy for her. I know about the 'she-wolf in heat' business but still, the fact that she expected Rafe to somehow understand her betrayal did not endear me to her, nor did her attitude towards Rafe's father or the townspeople (yeah they're going to bring you food after you betrayed/embarrassed the Alpha prince). Chick, they'd been waiting on you for 7 years!

Then she's dumped into Fenris' world and her sullen moping and silent treatment just re-affirmed my annoyance with her. I know she was in a strange place involuntarily, but by that time I was just like, 'Get over it!' I didn't hate her but I didn't like her either. LOVED Fenris though Yummmyyyy..

Anyway, thankfully, Fenris didn't share my opinion of Chloe and started looking for ways to please her and put an end to the silent treatment. That part of the book was fun and well done. I loved their interaction, loved that she was truly in her element there and that Fenris was so in love with her. The family members were a hoot as well. So now we're looking at a 3.75 - 4*ish, especially after the twist that forces Fenris to make a very hard decision.

The epilogue, though, killed my euphoria somewhat and kind of ruined the ending. It was a little confusing and, really, I couldn't care less about Alisha writing a book about Chloe. The villainizing of Rafe was just eh. How exactly is he supposed to take the fact that he's loved Chloe all his life, and she turns around and humps someone else when his back is turned? Let's not forget that she 'wasn't attracted to Fenris and would definitely choose Rafe'? FYI, in the epilogue there is an error - Matt addresses Alisha as 'Chloe'. Matt lifted his shoulders up and down. “What did you expect, Chloe? His family is one of the richest wolf dynasties in the United States.....

I think it would have been better to keep the epilogue for Fenris/Chloe only and then do a separate preview for the new book. Combining the two detracted from Fenris and Chloe's story, especially since the only thing I found interesting in the upcoming book is the mention of the young wolf that's always at the queen's feet, and is afraid of humans.

So, it ends up being around a 3.25 - 3.5ish for me.

I feel like I'm saying this a lot these days, but this was solid writing- just not very clever.

Overkill with the dual perspective scenes back and forth. They were essentially just repeating what we already got the first go round and didn't add a thing. It works when you have one party who is clearly playing his/her cards close to the vest and you can't readily ascertain what they are thinking from what the perspective of the narrator. In this instance, there was nothing to figure out. What we saw was exactly what we got so it was pointless to keep flipping back and forth.

One other thing that irritated me was the ending. If you're going to HEA something (and I'm too lazy to do the HTML tags, so SPOILER) with a man having to wait a to see his child, you better effin write that scene, write it well and make it worth the wait. This one, we get a friggin epilogue with a third party supposedly describing the moment. In lackluster detail to boot. FOUL. FAIL and nothankyou to future installments. Which is a shame because honestly the author clearly has talent. She just doesn't seem to know what to do with it.

This book started off slow but when it got going it was really good . I really liked Fenris was a really good male lead I liked how he and Chloe found love together . Chole found the family she missed through his family. I would have liked to known what happened when they returned when she went back to her time. I will be looking for the next book in 2013 I know I will enjoy it also.

DNF 50%. My main reason for not finishing this book is it just isn't for me. I'm not a big fan of soulmate/fated mate tropes, and I didn't jive with the couple because, while I like a domineering ML, I need there to be a FL who has enough brat to regularly pull the rug out from under him. This FL lacked the sass needed to juxtapose the domineering in a way that made it fun for me.

This book was… I’m going to be so frank here- utter focking RUBBISH!!!

I hated ALL the males. Every last one of them. None were redeemable at all. Theodora has a knack for writing her male characters as misogynistic toilet papers and think that when they treat the female lead with disrespect, it shows just how much of an alpha they are. No, Theodora, it shows how much of a weak minded wanker they are. They are an absolute disgrace!! Do not get me started on how she writes female characters. Must they never stand up for themselves? Must they be doomed to lie on their backs (both literally and metaphorically) so that their “alpha” male leads can scrape the mud from their boots on them?

I believe this will be my last book from her. I’ve been noticing the way she just lets her male characters belittles, demean and utterly disrespect the female characters ALL THE TIME. Under the guise of “this is the behaviour of an alpha male.” News flash! No, it’s bloody well NOT! If they were true alphas, they could convey respect and a following without treating their so called fated mate as a wet wipe for their d*cks.

This review is coming from a place of anger because I’m just so disgusted by this book. Fenrir basically yoinks Chloe from her life without her permission or even giving her a say and expects to do as he says. Why? Because he is alpha! Excuse me?! Oh, he also NEVER apologises, then again, with the way Ms. Taylor writes, an apology would make him less of an “alpha”

The sex scenes were so DRY!!! No love, no foreplay, no romance. Just a quick rut. Quick and often. Mind you, to make up for these awful sex scenes, we’re given the flimsy excuse that it’s because she’s “in heat.” Then when she is no longer in heat, these dry and bland sex scenes still accost my eyes. Threatening to suck all the moisture from my eyeballs. That’s how dry and pitiful they were. I know for a fact Chloe did NOT enjoy those. No matter how hard the author tried to convince me she did with all that so called screaming that she did. She was screaming for Fenrir to get off her because he was making her drier than sandpaper.

While we’re on the topic of heat, I forgot this was supposed to be a werewolf book. At no point in time did ANY of the leads shift into a werewolf. The cop out we got was that they couldn’t shift because Chloe was in heat. Then they couldn’t shift until 3 months after the birth of the child. Excuse me, but what the actual fock?!! If you wanted to write a time travel romance, you should have just done that. Cause that’s what you wrote, with your occasional sprinkle of some werewolf terminology here and there.

This is I believe my 5th T.T book and the very disturbing pattern of her books is that the female leads lose ALL SENSE OF IDENTITY once they get with the male leads. Forget being your own person or pursuing your own passions! You like writing? Ha! How about art? Or wanting to complete your master’s degree?! Hahahaha! Your life is over and you now live and breathe your male character. Loving him and bowing to his every whim is now your identity. This is disgusting. And it’s this conclusion that has now sworn me off her books. I’m sorry, but her books suck and she wouldn’t know how to write a strong female character or an ACTUAL male character if they set her writing pages on fire.

There was ZERO chemistry between Chloe and the Fenrir (rolls eyes). Just lots of TERRIBLE, TERRIBLE rutting and controlling. The characters felt forced and no growth occurred from either one.

I got sick of reading the SAME scenes from both Chloe and Fenrir. She added nothing new to the scenes, so why repeat it? Speaking of repetition. You know what got old ridiculous fast? “I know not the meaning of…” We get it already! They’re from two different times. Find other ways to communicate to us that your characters get lost on translation. I got so sick of the line that I started translating it in the 3 languages I speak and then my husband’s language- just to spice things up and not even that helped. Ughhh!!!

The way I see it, these characters should been returned to their own time and had their memories wipes. Even the action of the Colorado King and Queen didn’t match up in the end. Talk about forced and stiff. Bloody hell! This one was painful.

TLDR: boring, bland, HORRID book. Find something else to read.

This was an odd shifter romance in that neither of the main characters shifted throughout the whole book and they seemed too human, yes I know shifters fit into the human world and therefore have to assimilate but these two just seemed like humans with improved sense of smell. This just didn't feel like a werewolf book at all. Lots of it also didn't really make sense, yes I know it's about werewolves but I'd still like it to be well thought out and make sense, instead it was full of inconsistencies. It seemed very contrived things were there just to make other things fit or to make the story easier, without giving anything away I can't really give examples but you'll understand if you read it.
It should and could have been so much better.

What in the heck did I just read? This book made me Google "wolf penis," and once I went down the weird rabbit hole of learning about canine sex I just noped the fuck out. It was, however, quite entertaining for the people a was doing a readathon with to hear my exclamations of "WHAT THE HELL?!" and then reading certain passages aloud to them...

I'm not super into paranormals, and time travel romance isn't really my jam either. There is a lot of good set up in this book, and if you like 1) paranormal/shifter romances, 2) time travel romance, and don't shy away from 3) werewolves who somehow have wolf genitalia while in their human form - then this romance might be just the thing for you!

I thoroughly enjoyed this book... One of the best IRR writers that I've come across in a looong time. Awesome storyline, well developed characters, with PNR elements that were well written. I will be pre-ordering Ms. Taylor's next book.

Hopefully, she'll produce another book that's even more captivating than the rest.

Giving this one: 5 huge stars.

I finished another book by #TheodoraTaylor - #HerVikingWolf the 1st book in the #AlphaKings series and again I really enjoyed it!
The author makes it super easy to dive into a new story with new characters and a "new" world. (This was a #paranormalromance so obviously it was set in our world, but still we had to learn a few "rules".)
It took but one chapter for me to br familiar with everyone and to enjoy myself.

The female main character was very sympathetic and I liked her immediately. Rafe... not so much, because he seemed way too bossy and a little too disrespectful towards her. Thank God for dear Fenrys, who made an appearance very soon.😍
I usually don't like when there's any kind of cheating involved in a book, but Rafe made it very easy for me in this case.🙈

Fenrys did have some problematic sides as well though. The thing he did in the beginning had a bit of a dark romance feel though, so I wasn't completely opposed to it. 🤣

Overall, I really liked the chapters in hos village. We didn't get to know a whole lot about their customs, but I didn't think that was negative. I really liked the setting and the other people in the village seemed like a great bunch.

The last chapters of the book were the best in my opinion. I loved the action, I loved seeing the growth in Chloe especially during that one action scene and I loved how she and Fenrys interacted.

The epilogue left me curious for more in this world though and I wish there was more about Chloe and Fenrys's life after the events in this book... :(

This book where to start! Ok the positives, it is a quick read, has a HEA, no cliffhanger and is told from alternating POV’s. The author also had a great thought using Vikings, time travel and fated mates. Very little grammatical errors were found and the pacing was good. Sex scenes were pretty hot and I loved the mating ritual scenes. The Viking history and explanations were spot on.

The bad:
1. Not enough backstory! I need to understand more about the mating rituals, history of the wolves, interactions, time travel, and the cave. Way too many unanswered questions.
2. Character development was ok, the author needs more depth of character. More interactions.
3. Angst it was there but not the best.
4. Time travel great attempt but fell short. Not enough explanation, details and that overall happy feeling.
5. Their really wasn’t a climax in this story in my opinion but not necessarily a bad thing but it does need to be there in some way.

Overall this story is a quick read. If you enjoy Viking history then jump on this boat. If you looking for that happy feeling and all the love then this book may be a reason to catch the next bigger ship.

This is a nice shifter romance with historical and time travel elements that keeps things interesting & should keep you nice and warm in the winter holidays and the fact that it is free is a bonus!

Chloe is a twenty five year old shifter who has not gone into heat yet when other female shifters have already done that and have been paired of with their chosen mates by the time they are twenty years old. Her fiancé Rafe is fast running out of patience and is pushing Chloe to take their relationship to the next level and stop avoiding the subject of sex & mating heat. But things soon get interesting when Fenris, a hot red headed, time traveling alpha Viking shifter with a deadly temper bursts into her world claiming this black beauty as his fated mate and demands that she go back with him to the 12th century. This alpha king is not about to take ‘NO’ and is determined to get his mate by fair or foul means. Well, you can't blame the guy, after all he is from a time when men were men and took reluctant women to their family cave (a village in Norway in the 12th century) kicking and screaming. So, it’s all good and perfectly legal especially when you have a hero with a hot rockin' bod, a lot of screaming orgasms, a dash or two of Stockholm syndrome, and a barrel full of cheeky loving extended family members... What else does a modern woman need anyway? Well I could be wrong but I’ll take modern conveniences & medicine any day! But for arguments sake, true love and soul mate beats all! Oh yeah!!

I like the fact that our Viking hero has a sweet tender heart under his gruff exterior and all the huffing and puffing big bad wolf attitude hides a passionate man. It is the usual hero recipe with a side of quirky theme. I also like the fact that Chloe is a DIY domestic goddess on par with Martha Stewart because she likes making food, clothes and all manners of things from scratch, making her the perfect woman for a life in the 12th century. My only problem is that for the most part, she acts like a fearful teen what with the sulking, silent treatment and fear of offending others and lack of insight into her own needs and her sudden and complete personality overhaul towards the end feels a bit forced. Chloe's transition into Fenris's life is too easy and unbelievable, especially due to the serious unresolved issues between them.

I can overlook all the minor annoyances except for one major issue, the retelling of the same scenes, from Chloe and Fenri's POV without any changes that enhances the story line or our understanding of the characters. Also, the werewolf element was a bit redundant here especially since our h/h don't shift and just appear to be more human than supernatural.

Despite all the little niggles, I really enjoyed this story because it had my favourite themes: Time travel romance, werewolf’s, alpha Viking and interracial romance! What more could anyone ask for... Well maybe a dragon or two, some vampires and zombies... OK, so I’m being a bit greedy but I love my UF creatures. And this story did wet my appetite enough to try another book in this series.

Her Viking Wolf was a decent story. It's a story about a woman named Chloe who was engaged to a wolf alpha Prince for 7 years, but they never got married because she never went into heat even though she was past the age of change (25). One day this alpha Viking King named Fenris is transported into the future after invoking this incantation to find his fated mate (which he did not want to do), or be killed by his traitorous cousin who wanted to usurp his place on the throne. Once Fenris came into contact with Chloe, she began her process of going into heat and things escalated from there.

The story was good in the fact that even though Chloe and Fenris were fated mates, they still had issues to work out. First being, Fenris is from a time period that is opposite of Chloe's own time. He believes in the mantra that women should want what their men want while Chloe is if the mind the women have a freedom to choose. They had to overcome their different ways of communication, the language barrier and also the cultural barrier that existed. It was good to see how they overcame those aspects of their relationship. The biggest problem that I had in the book was that the author would cross back and forth between Chloe's thoughts and Fenris' and I would have to go back and re-read the paragraph to make sure I didn't miss anything because of me not being sure whose angle I was reading. Also, another thing that confused me was sometimes Chloe's language didn't fit her personality, but maybe that was just the "sista" in her coming out at times. Fenris was a strong character who didn't want to love Chloe, but it just couldn't be helped. He wanted to rule his home wit an iron fist, but in order to have some peace and tranquility, he had to bend, which he did so reluctantly, but in the end, he saw it was to his benefit. He was a strong alpha male, but he still treated his woman well. Also, the book never talked about them actually shifting. When Chloe went into her heating frenzy, neither her nor Fenris shifted (but some things were wolf-like, like the knots that wolves get when mating) nor when danger came upon them. I was confused by the non-shifting in a shifters book. But other than that, it was a decent read.

5 stars for the Viking

The story line was really great and I loved that there was time traveling to find mates and I loved fenris and everything about him which is why I give it 5 stars fpr the viking. However, what I did not like was Chloe. If I gave this stars based off of just her it would have been a 2. She was a brat. She chose to mate with rafe even though she couldn't stand to kiss him and had to make herself think of other things just to get through his kiss, then changed the topic anytime mating came up with him and felt relief that she hadn't matted with him yet and didn't really want too. Why choose him then if you can't stand even the thought of his touch...then fenris comes along and she feels something for him but still refuses him as her mate simply because rafe is her best friend and she just wants to be part of his family. Then after actually mating with fenris she tries to leave him high and dry while pregnant in a time he knows nothing about because she is a scared bitch and refuses to travel back with him To his time. She has nowhere to go except with him since rafe told her she wasn't allowed to stay, so why try to run? If all she wanted was a family she would have realized much sooner that she could have that with fenris if she pulled her head out of her ass. Then after traveling back with him she still refuses to be a part of anything even after the warm welcome she receives and just wallows in her own misery in bed for days on end. Fenris continued to try and speak with her and treat her kindly even after how angry he was when he thought she betrayed him. She just sucked all around. The story would have been better with a stronger female character that wasn't so miserable. But like I said it was a great plot and I loved fenris which is the only reason I gave it 5 stars.
