“Nina, life is so terribly short, and not doing anything at all means you’re wasting your life away, stuck in a place where the only thing you have to hold on to is fear of actually living.”
Nina has it all. A successful career, a good man, her darling daughters, and her beloved dog. Except she’s desperately, pathetically lonely, and has agreed with her husband that splitting up is the best thing to do. But what if it isn’t? Perhaps staying would have been better? Then she gets advice when she least expects it and decides to move on with her life.
“Son, you need to take a good fucking look at yourself and figure out if you like what you see. I don’t. You look ten years older than you should, and you’re also ridiculously out of shape.”
Matthias is the CEO of a large multinational company, he has a beautiful wife, and his twins are just out of college. Except, he works way too much, and things aren’t exactly great at home. His father finally delivers some harsh truths, and he decides that changes are due.
Starting over when you’re a divorced fifty-something isn’t easy.
Age is just a number. Humans are geared to want intimacy, to be desired, to desire someone and Mia Malone’s CHOICES proves it. Sexy, mature, realistic and erotic, this romance between two over fifty, successful, business people find real love and true romance well after our youth obsessed society would deem possible.
Nina knows what it is like to be successful in business and not so successful in maintaining a marriage. She’s is strong personality, confident in most aspects of her life, so when her marriage goes down the drain, she moves forward, a little battered.
Matthias is the CEO of a multinational company, has stayed in his marriage because, maybe it just didn’t matter anymore. He wasn’t looking for anyone, but isn’t that how things happen, when you least expect it?
This slow burn, but seriously hot romance feels natural, feels real and there is no over-the-top expectations from either character, actually, one of them may be in denial, but thanks to Mia Malone, “mature” love comes alive and it is something special.
No sugar-coating, no youthful angst, no characters trying to make a name for themselves, so there is a lot of time to develop a relationship that explodes with rightness! Definitely believable, definitely hot, sexy, and erotic. Proof that inside everyone, no matter their age, is a vibrant, sexual human just waiting to find that one person who can release the best we have to share! And before you think, EWWWW, old people...reality check, kids, look around you, who is more comfortable in their own skin?

I really like this author's writing style but this didn't quite work for me. I intensely disliked that Nina had sex with 2 others after meeting the H, as a matter of fact the entire first parts of this book and the interactions between the mcs felt disjointed and made no sense. When they actually met up again things started flowing as I expect from this author. In all honesty this book is rated higher than I would normally rate it but I believe in this author, her writing style is very similar to KA without being a carbon copy so I'm going gently with my rating 😂 Without Nina's actions I'd have enjoyed this one much more I will however, read EVERY book written by Mia Malone(as long as safety standards are met) and am already looking forward to her next release. ***wait after reading this I can't remember if th e workplace incidents were resolved....da heck??
My thoughts during the reading lol
What the heck?? I didn't expect that at all dammit
Ok whew.....I think I downloaded the wrong book because I really like this author's books and I've been eagerly anticipating this latest release but so far the h is a 50 something year old horndog who slept with or thinks sex thoughts about every man she meets! And they've met twice but he's YET to make a move and she just goes on with life.....I'm so fucking disappointed in this shit. I'm rage reading to the end
No cheating H has been separated from his ex for months when he first meets the h, he eventually gets divorced H celibate about a year h recently divorced and started dating. She had sex with OM after meeting the H but not after they got together Slight OW drama as the ex made a tiny play for the H Both older and with grown children
This author writes really beautifully about finding love mid-life. I really enjoyed The Brothers series and the Thorn Series and knew that this book was set around a different group of people, but who were of a similar age. Of course I wanted to read it.
Nina is on the cusp of getting a divorce after being married for 20 years to her husband Dave. There’s nothing wrong with Dave, he’s a perfectly nice man, but the marriage isn’t working and hasn’t for a while.
Matthias works too hard and has stopped looking after himself. His wife moved out 7 months ago and he still hasn’t sorted out whether to get a divorce or not.
This book is about two people who have reached a cross roads in their lives and over a period of months seems to keep bumping into each other. Their relationship slowly unfolds through the book and along the way they also start to rebuild their lives, discover their passions and strengthen old friendships whilst making new ones.
It’s a gently paced book, that peels off the layers of feelings carefully and tenderly lays them out for the reader to enjoy. It’s a subtle and sweet book, that still has plenty of heat between the sheets, and up against the wall, and ...... you get the picture. It’s fun reading about people in their 50s finding their way in life after being lost for a while. I hope there will be more such wonderful books by this author, as there is a distinct lack of something like this around and I want to read more.
I enjoyed everything about this book. Not sure why it was so short though, Mia you need to write 200 more pages and please write faster I have been waiting months for a new book from you. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
I simply can’t understand why this author isn’t better known, her books are amazing, I’m about caught up on every one she’s written and I’ve not found one I haven’t cried, laughed and sighed through. Nina is a strong, deeply independent woman in her middle aged prime. She makes a hard choice, which are followed by friendship and more choices, some good and some not so much but she is amazing in her sheer bloody determination to keep putting one independent foot forward. I adore her and I love Matthias for her, another strong character that makes some grotty choices and some good ones. I also love that the sex is sizzling.
Choices is a standalone by Mia Malone that i hope that she decides to turn into a series! I love how every book i have read by Mia has been about mature couples, second chances and finally growing up and doing what you want and maybe should also have without really whining about the past. Choices gives us Nina and Matty and the rollercoaster journey that they get on and even when it gets rough, they stick it out and we come to the end hoping that we can revisit them when their friends get their own stories! (wink, wink Mia!)
This is a different style of romance. The couple are in their early fifties, both educated, successful and one is getting a divorce while the other has, although separated from his wife, just never took had the thought to end their stale marriage. The parents are wonderful characters and quite funny. This a good way to spend your reading time. Steam 6 out of 10 (several hot scenes). HEA, No cheating, no cliffhanger. Enjoy.
Nina has gone away for a weekend to determine if she should make the difficult decision to end her marriage; her and her husband don't interact and she is lonely. She meets Jonah, an older gentleman, who she goes to visit after her divorce is final. There she meets his son Matthias.
I am usually a 'series' reader more than stand alone but this book with Nina and Matthias really captured me! I especially love stories with older characters, Mia Malone does such a good job developing their personalities.
I wanted more . I wish this was part of a series so I could get more of Nina, Matthias and their friends. I especially loved Jacob. What a joyful read!
I really loved this and wish there was another to follow on. Great older characters and was very relatable for myself. I liked the storyline, it was serious and fun too.
A really good read. I love that Mia's writes stories for older characters. Characters that have real experience under their belts and not some 20 year old who supposedly lived a life time in that short time. Adored Jacob in this story. I hope she writes more about this family.
4.5 stars. A delightful book! I was concerned that it would be short, but it didn’t feel that way at all. There was a slow burn, likable characters, and left me wanting more!
