Marjorie Hardaway has a troublesome new Chartreux kitten on her hands. The aptly named Houdini is a master escape artist, regularly hiding in cupboards or running outside as though he can walk straight through walls.

When a café regular, Fletcher Byrne, leaves behind a half-completed adoption form for Houdini, Marjorie is therefore eager for him to come back and finish the process. The problem is, nobody has seen or heard from Fletcher since that afternoon. The distance-learning student has disappeared into thin air!

While a major drug bust keeps the police occupied, Marjorie tries to track down Fletcher's whereabouts. With a twin brother arriving in town, the appearance of TWO girlfriends, and a sideline in criminal activities rearing its ugly head, she's soon chasing leads all over town.

But until she can locate the absent student and unravel the tangle of clues he's left in his trail, neither Marjorie nor Houdini will be able to rest.

Marjorie's Cozy Kitten Cafe Mysteries are quick 1-2 hour reads perfect for filling in time waiting for appointments, commuting to work, or when your significant other insists on watching the show that makes you roll your eyes!

They are chock-a-block full of kittens, but I promise there's no swearing, no cliffhangers, and no graphic scenes.

I'm a middle-aged woman who works in insurance, doesn't have children or pets, can't drive, has lived in Christchurch my entire life, and currently reside a two-minute walk from where I was born.

For some reason, I've developed a rich fantasy life.

I like to write mysteries, some set in my hometown of Christchurch, others ninety minutes up the road in the beautiful township of Hanmer Springs, or in the quasi-fictional town of Pinetar. These mysteries range from hard-hitting psychological thrillers, through to police procedurals, or the lighter adventure of a cozy mystery.

Another fun book in this series. In this one the featured cat is a little escape artist, aptly named Houdini, that causes all types of trouble but also some cute antics. The mystery in this one is a customer of Marjorie's that is missing suddenly and Marjorie tries to figure out what happened. The way things unfolded was at times a stretch to believe, but still over I enjoyed the book and plan to continue with the series.

Fletcher Byrne is a distance-learning student who frequently stops by Marjorie Hardaway’s kitten cafe. One of the kitty residents has taken a liking to Fletcher - Houdini. In fact, Fletcher is in the middle of completing adoption papers when he suddenly disappears.

Marjorie is anxious when Fletcher doesn’t show up in the cafe for a few days. Not only is she worried about losing a potential adoption, but she’s concerned about the young man. When she goes in search for him, she discovers he’s not quite the quiet guy she thought - he has a twin brother, two girlfriends and apparently he’s involved in criminal acts.

Marjorie is determined to get to the bottom of this mystery. With help from Houdini and Marjorie’s new beau, she finds herself right in the middle of danger.

This series is so cute. This is the second book in the series. There aren’t any cliffhangers so you don’t really have to read them in order, but I’m glad I did with the first two books. It gives me more of an insight into Marjorie’s personality and her life.

It’s a quick, fast-paced read filled with intrigue and cats galore. As a cat lover, I can never pass up a cat series and I already adore this. From what I’ve seen there are only three books in the series, but I’m hoping there will be more. I can't help but give this kitty cozy a 5 kitty review.

Marjorie is trying to have a troublesome kitten named Houdini adopted. When a customer goes missing she is determined to find him.

This is the second book in the Marjorie’s Cozy Cat Mystery series. I enjoyed the characters with their strengths and weaknesses. The storyline flows quickly and smoothly filled with twists and turns that hold your interest until the end. The mystery has numerous suspects, subtle clues, surprises and suspense. I found the story interesting and was a quick easy read. I can hardly wait for the next book in the series.

Cute

This is a cute, clean cozy series with likable characters. The kittens are adorable scamps that keep Marjorie on her toes between wrangling them, running a business, and falling into mysteries. Braden seems a bit lazy and childish this time which is disappointing, and the mystery is fairly straightforward.

Lots of excitement as the little Chartroux kitten named Houdini keeps escaping the cafe while the sleepy New Zealand town is in the midst of unraveling a major crime ring. Lots happening about town, at the kitten cafe, and at the massage studio next door while the masseuse is on vacation. Note to self: look up pinwheel scone.

Not as good as the first one. A drug laid across the street? A cartel in a small town where everyone knows everyone? I couldn't shake off the weirdness of that. Maybe I misunderstood the setting of the town. Well, not that I demand realism in cozy mystery books, never mind. Kittens are cute and that's what it matters.

Kittens, wonderful

A kitten cafe, Marjorie has kittens galore, so it different personalities. Houdini is a little escape artist and gets Marjorie into a bit of mayhem when there's a drug bust and a missing man. I really enjoyed reading this book, it made me chuckle.

A wonderful, delightful mini mystery that is funny and twisty in storyline. The “CATfe” has new fur-characters with a few returns. The story is light and entertaining and is exactly what I need right now.

Rating actually between 3 and 4

Fun, kitten-filled story as usual, but I found I kept getting distracted while reading it so I guess it didn't super hold my interest. (Or maybe no book stands a chance against preparing to adopt a new kitten so distraction is inevitable lol)

Escape artist

The love of animals is a blessing and a curse as this young man finds out. How did he know so many people would be so concerned?

Clean and interesting but seemed more like a lead-in to the next novel, which I hope leads to a sufficient and satisfying end of a case that starts with this one. It’s clearly narrated.
