Adorable Fat Girl #2

Adventures of an Adorable Fat Girl: Book Two

Rate this book
Mary Brown is funny, gorgeous and bonkers. She's also about six stone overweight and can't get into any of the dresses in Zara. Still, what does she care? She's got a lovely new boyfriend and all is looking well...except when she accidentally gets herself in trouble at the silent auction, has to eat her lunch under the table in the pub because Ted's workmates have spotted them, and has a young man's testicles dangled into her face on a party boat to Amsterdam. Oh, and then there are all the issues with the hash-cakes. Besides all those things - everything's fine...just fine!

The story is laugh-out-loud funny and will resonate with anyone who has dieted, tried to keep up with any sort of exercise programme or spent 10 minutes in a changing room trying to extricate herself from a way too-small garment that she ambitiously tried on and is now completely stuck in.

Bernice Bloom is the big, new name in comedy writing...this is the second installment of her great new series of laugh-out-loud mini books.

I HAVE THE BEST, MOST LOVELY, LOYAL, SUPPORTIVE READERS IN THE WORLD.
Here are some of my reviews:

"I adored the various storylines, loved the quirky and captivating characters, and was beguiled by Ms. Bloom's colorful and highly amusing writing style. I am hopelessly addicted. More Fat Girl, please!"

"The book was just a delight to read. Every time I picked the book up I could guarantee that it was going to make me smile. The full-length novel was funny, this one was hilarious, and heart-breaking at the same time. I was completely and utterly hooked to the pages and didn't want the book to end."

"The last thing on earth I need is another addiction, but I fear I have acquired a new one for the cunningly amusing author Bernice Bloom and her wily Adorable Fat Girl series. Mary Brown is an adorable yet outrageous Queen-Sized trouble-magnet and party animal who manages to embroil herself in the oddest of quandaries."

"I can't recommend this book enough.
This series is fast becoming my favourite and I can't wait to see what's in-store next for Mary. I urge you to pick up these books, you won't be disappointed!"

"Cruise with an Adorable Fat Girl is just THE most heartwarming, funny and emotional read. It's great to have a more real life heroin

Although I enjoyed this book and the previous one, I will once again point out my biggest flaws in these books is that they build up to a climax which never really happens, so they just end on a cliff hanger which is never really touched upon or explained in the other books. This book does have some genuinely laugh out loud moments but they are few and far between. Once again Mary can be written as a ditzy blonde and seems to think of no one but herself. I did enjoy this book, as I did the others but it wouldn't be something I would be desperate to recommend or read again.

Short snappy but hilariously funny read. I read this series of books in the wrong order. Read this one first. This is genuinely laugh out loud, side splitting funny. Really cheer on Mary and her exploits. Can’t wait to read the other books.

Another fabulous book in the series that literally had me laughing out loud several times throughout!
I would highly recommend these books to anyone who just wants an easy read, and something to smile at.
These books are just what I needed to read.
Only downside for me, is that there are a LOT of spelling mistakes throughout the book, and even completely wrong words used.

This book is so easy to read. I couldn’t put it down! It made me laugh out loud and made me reminisce about my experiences in Amsterdam.
Everything written resinates and is so life like - warts and all.
She reminds me of another Bridget Jones.

I cant wait to read her other books.

3.5 stars. I enjoyed this book but found the ending was way too abrupt. I didn’t feel like the story led to a conclusion.

Having thought the previous book was cute, this one focuses less on Mary and her growth as a person while battling the physical and mental challenges that come with losing weight and more on various whacky scenarios that she stumbles into with little to no consequence. Mary is less endearing and more irritating as she stumbles into predictable situations that could easily be remedied if she had even an ounce of sense.

And, ultimately, it leads up to nothing happening; every worry that plagues Mary throughout the story is just magically erased in the very last paragraph and that's when the story ends.

This is the second book in the Adorable Fat Girl series and I think it is probably my favourite one!! I was laughing out loud, there are so many funny bits in this one, I read it in one sitting and had to sneak downstairs to finish reading it so I didn't wake up my husband and the baby with my giggling! I love Mary and some of the things she gets mixed up in are hilarious - even more as you can see them happening in real life too! I loved this one - 5 stars from me and very highly recommended and you do need to read the books order or you will get spoilers as they run on one after the other but they are definitely worth it!

Half a book

Mary, the books protagonist, is the worst sort if idiot. Combining all the worst aspects of Becky Bloomwood and Bridget Jones with none of the charm. Obviously because she is a woman, overweight, and the lead character she must be totally unable to see the consequences of her actions or able to resist her compulsions, not to mention shallow as a puddle.

Not only does the book seem to be missing a beginning with a hastily wedged in backstory, it ends abruptly mid plot with the next instalment in March.

Another fab read!

I loved this book, as it gives the reader more insight into the mind of Mary, who although overweight and neurotic, is lovable and the friend we all have, or wish we had. Most women will identify with her struggles in one way or another, and will laugh or cry (or sometimes both) right along with her. Bernice Bloom is fantastic, and I personally can't wait to find out what happens to Mary next!!

Quick read

I enjoyed the humour in this book but I was very disappointed to discover there are only ten short chapters and the book ends right at the climax of the story. So glad I got it free because I would be cross if I paid for it and that was all there was.

Light heart read, with laughs and real emotional.

One to read if you have struggled with losing weight, follow Mary's journey and make a new friend.

I'm hooked.

Really enjoyed this book and looking forward to reading the other books in this series.

A definite 5⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

A funny read about Mary's bright idea to go to Amsterdam to surprise her boyfriend Ted.

What could possibly go wrong?

From hash cakes to a kite sized tent.

This really had me laughing throughout.

Well worth a read, I am so enjoying these series of books and they just get better.
