The police suspect murder, and their main suspect is Basil. Laurel buries herself in sifting through the clues. Can she solve the crime before she becomes the next victim?
USA Today best-selling author Morgana Best survived a childhood of deadly spiders and venomous snakes in the Australian outback. Morgana Best writes cozy mysteries and enjoys thinking of delightful new ways to murder her victims.
I love this series..it's fun, fast paced and does not bore you. Laurel has inherited the family funeral home after her dad dies, and continues her new life adventure. She has become used to the idea of being able to see ghosts, especially at work. She has the hots for a family associate named Basil ,and they are getting closer even more , now that he has told her that he can see the ghosts too..but when he introduces an old college friend to her, she's put off by this friends playboyish actions..but the next day. when Lewis suddenly dies in a sky diving accident...will she be able to help keep Basil out of jail? Was he the one who murdered his old college friend, or was it his fiance, who shows up after he's dead, with a new boyfriend? Could it be the CEO, of the company that Lewis was doing the books for, trying to hide the information about stolen company money ? With the help of Lewis's ghost, they have a few suspects.. The author keeps you going and you won't want to put these book's down until the very end.!!!
An old college friend of Basil's is in town, and they go skydiving. Lewis falls to his death when his parachute fails. Basil is accused and eventually arrested for the murder as the police have definitive evidence of a motive. It takes everything Laurel can do, and the helpful information from Lewis' ghost to get to the truth. But will it be enough to keep Laurel safe and out of danger from the real murderer.
It seems Morgana Best is having a little too much fun putting Laurel in danger. Not just from the criminals, but from her nutty and Pius mother and her close friends.
Make the Ghost of it by Morgana Best. This is book 3 in the series
I laughed so hard with this book! It's been a great read, I loved it! I believe that everyone that reads this book finds similarity with their mothers or someone in their lives. In this book Basils friend goes to visit him but ends murdered. Basil is considered the main suspect and Laurel needs to help solve the case because of Basil. It's been really funny.. the ghosts, Thelma and her friends and the romance between Laurel and Basil. Go get the series!
Another hilarious book covering Laurel, Thelma, Ian and Basil. In the beginning, Thelma, Ian and John Jones see the Second Coming of Christ...not really but hope runs deep... Laurel gets fed up with Thelma and moves out of Thelma's house... Basil is accused of murdering his friend Lewis... And the good times roll from there! Read it--you'll like it!
This is a fun read! The characters are hilarious! I binge read this series and really enjoyed it and hope there are more to come! It is about a woman, Laurel, who inherits her dad funeral home much to her mother's dismay! Her mother expected to inherit it! The unfortunate side, Laurel can see ghosts! The worse part, moving back with her mother! Her mother is super religious and refuses to believe in Laurels' ability! If you are easily offended, read at your own risk!
Another series that I have enjoyed through Kindle Unlimited and now found that the series is no longer offered on it. I enjoyed her writing, but I already spend $9.99 a month for Kindle Unlimited. I can't afford to get attached to a series and then pay half or the same amount to read the other books in series. I will find a new author in Kindle Unlimited.
Laurel Bay and her Mother lead a very interesting life in Witch Woods! Her Mum is crazy and her job at the Funeral Home is finally making a profit. So funny! These are really good stories from Australia, I plan to read them all!
Laurel is at it again trying to find a killer. The ghost is not much help. Besides that, he's a little obnoxious and funny too. Will Laurel figure out who killed him before a friends of hers is arrested? This is another laugh out loud cozy mystery. My favorite kind!
As with all of Morgan's books I can't wait for the next one. When I start one of her series I can't stop until I have read all the books in the series.
I give up. I was hopeful after the second book, but this one is edited so poorly it’s nearly impossible to follow. There was an entire chapter out of order for goodness sake.
This series is getting better and better! I had problems with the mother in the books before, but here her presence is a little less overbearing, and whenever she appears it’s quite funny. I particularly liked
The third book of the series, and it is a little different from the others. Why? Well the funeral home business takes a back seat to solving a murder that finds Basil as the main suspect. When a college friend comes visiting Basil, they stop at the funeral home so Laurel can meet him. Before long she meets him for the second time (as a ghost)after he plummets from the sky (while skydiving) and his chute and back-up chute fail to open. He crashes through Laurel's mom's roof to his death. By this time Laurel has moved into the apartment over the funeral home while renovating it, and is a little more detached from her mother's daily rants. The focus of the book becomes solving the murder, while normal funeral home activities are less prominent than in other books. Along the way there are some interesting developments between Laurel and Basil as they share their childhood memories about imaginary friends, and more.
While it may seem contrary to say a book about death and funeral homes is fun, author Morgana Best has made it so. Her characters-both on the churchgoing side and the "heathen" side are well written and often unintentionally funny. I enjoyed the book and recommend it to anyone who likes a good cozy, especially with an addition of ghosts! The series is best read in order although each book can be considered a stand-alone story. While there are no cliff hangers mystery wise, your reading experience is enriched when you get to know the characters and their continuing sagas!
Make the Ghost of It is the third installment in Morgana Best's Witch Woods Funeral Home Series. In this story we find that things are progressing nicely between Laurel and her accountant, Basil, when he brings a friend from college by to meet her. While her mother, Thelma, is fully enamored of Lewis Lowes, Laurel is rather put off. When she learns that Basil and Lewis are going skydiving, she is none too happy. But when Lewis crashes into her mother's roof when his parachutes fail to open and Basil is the primary suspect, Laurel is beyond upset.
When Lewis turns up as a ghost to see Laurel and Basil, the search for the real killer begins in earnest. With an array of suspects, Laurel busily seeks the answer as she simultaneously works to whip the apartment above the funeral home into a shape she can inhabit, finally escaping her mother's clutches.
In a story laced with humor and filled with mystery, Morgana Best brings this series to a pleasant stopping point. But still, you have to hope there will be more stories from the Witch Woods funeral home. I enjoyed this book, as I did the rest, and do recommend it.

Great Book! This is a great book; this book is the third book in the Witch Woods Funeral Home series by Morgana Best. This book can be read as a standalone, but it will be more fun for you to read the books in order, so you can get to know all of the characters. Laurel Bay runs a funeral home after her father left it to her in his will. She has a very religious mother and she can also see and communicate with ghosts. In this book Laurel discovers that Basil can also see and speak to ghosts. When Basil’s old friend from college, Lewis Lowes dies while skydiving, Basil becomes the number one suspect, since he was in the plane with him before Lewis jumped from the plane. Laurel is determined to sift through the clues and find the real killer. If you are looking for a fun cozy mystery then you need to read this book. I am looking forward to the next book in this series. A Review copy was provided to me in exchange for a fair and honest review. The free book held no determination on my personal review.
Make A Ghost of It is Book 3 in Morgana Best's Witch Woods Funeral Home series. I was worried for a while because Laurel's beau, Basil, is being accused of murdering his old college friend. Every time Laurel and Basil get near each other, the police come along to pick him up for questioning or something worse. Things fly along so swiftly that Laurel's mother doesn't get much of a chance to mess things up as usual. I wouldn't mind going to an Elvis Funeral, but, the Wizard of Oz with Toto!!! Thank goodness the ghost in this book is a little better at figuring things out than most ghosts seem to be. Again, I read it in one sitting and highly recommend it to anyone who likes mystery, murder, ghosts, friends, and still the overbearing mother!
Decided to binge Witch Woods Funeral Home instead of Netflix. Each is good stand-alone, but much more fun with full hilarious background. Thanks be that Laurel finally moved out of her lunatic/zealot mother's house and is renovating the apartment above the funeral home! Now she can finally explore her attraction to her accountant, Basil. But Basil promptly becomes the chief suspect in his friend's murder. And so the sleuthing begins! Their suspect list keeps growing, but the police only seem to see Basil. Meanwhile, there is more hilarity going on at the funeral home. If you need a cozy with a real plot and lots of humor, this is the place to find it!
Once again Laurel Bay finds herself a witness to a murder. This time her new boyfriend, Basil, is the prime suspect sending Laurel on a mission to find out who murdered Lewis. This series is really growing. Laurel is taking charge of her life as well as her funeral business. Now, if she can find a way to deal with her overbearing mother, this series would be perfect. Looking forward to the next book. If you enjoy cozy mysteries, give this series a try.
Morgana does it again in another episode in the life of a funeral home owner. Not just any funeral home owner but one that can see, hear and talk to ghosts, especially those whose death was not caused by an illness or natural causes but by murder. The main storyline is helped along with the antics of her mother and her blossoming love life with her accountant who also has a gift involving dead people. Can't wait for the next episode.
A great series continues on. I am so glad Laurel finally moved out of her Mom's house, but you better read why, lol! Well maybe not funny as a dude plummets to his death in a parachuting accident, or was it? When his ghost shows up Laurel needs to solve his murder when the cops arrest her new (hopefully) boyfriend. Enjoyable read.
This is a fun read. The worst fear appearing is main character's overbearing mother. Look for my favorite scene when the mother mistakes a regular memorial service for a Wizard-of-Oz-themed funeral. Expect to laugh
