This is book four of the Seasons of Magic series and sees Ezri coming up to the deadline of the Winter Solstice in a few days’ time and another prophecy that only she can complete. She is still reeling from the killing of her cousin Desmond right in front of her, and finding out his case is about to be passed over to the cold case team, as no further evidence or suspects have been found in the months since his death. Ezri can’t accept that and wants to ensure she does all she can to find who was responsible for his death and make sure they pay for it, before she has to face the winter solstice and what might happen.

Her only problem is the faceless figure who is haunting her sleep and then starts to occupy her days as well, taunting her that she has no chance of defeating them when their power reaches its pinnacle on the solstice coming up. She is the Saviour, the last of her line and the only person who could possibly stop the deadly figure the Order managed to partly resurrect in the last prophecy event. Her fiancé J.T. is worried she is too involved in solving Desmond’s death and the prophecy ad leaving no time for her to live her life and to share it with him. She has an inkling of what the latest prophecy means and needs to make the most of time with those she loves and finish off her search for the killer.

Danger is coming with the going down of the sun and the shorter days of light in the midst of winter. Darkness will gain more power on the winter solstice and she will have to see if she has enough power of light magic to stop the dark magic from gaining a hold on all that she loves and even the world. The fanatics of the Order wanted to be able to practise their magic whenever and however they wanted, with no rules or laws to stop them. What they have done will come with dangers even they cannot comprehend and costs they never expected. Ezri may have to make the ultimate sacrifice to stop dark magic from winning over her city and the world. Whatever the final prophecy means, her part has already been foretold and she has no real choice about what may happen. This is the finale of the series and may not be quite what I expected would happen, but certainly lays a lot of ghosts to rest. I received an ARC copy of this book from BookSprout and I have freely given my own opinion of the book above.

„Winter’s Reckoning“ is the conclusion to the “Seasons of Magic” Series by Sarah Biglow, which is a veritable must read for all fantasy and/or police work fans out there. Expect a real page-turner, action-paced and thrilling plot, a realistic setting, exceptional well-written characters in an captivating setting, that blends elements of police procedural with urban fantasy and druidic elements, and last but not least a enticing story, full of twist and ramifications that would keep invested until the very last page.

After becoming the prophesied Magical Savior at the Spring Equinox, saving the abducted council children at the Summer Solstice and faced the Orden of Samael anew in the Autumn Equinox, the Winter Solstice is rapidly approaching and Boston police detective Enzi Trenton, has to face her most challenging situation: to find and bring to justice Desmond’s killer, even if that means pushing the boundaries of both law and magic to its limits. After the department classifies the murder as a Cold Case, Enzi is on her own, in her quest to unearth the truth.

This is an extremely very well written story, a fast-paced tale with mixing elements of police procedural and urban fantasy, set in a very realistic setting, much like our world with added magic. The plot is filled with unexpected twist and credible turns and offers intelligent crafted foes that gives the story the dept it deserves and complete the full picture. Sarah Biglow “Seasons of Magic” Series is a must read for all fantasy and/or police work fans out there, that expect not only a page-turner enjoyable reading but some clever background stories to go with it.

A wonderful conclusion to an amazing series!

🗡️🗡️ONE TUMULTUOUS FINALE🗡️🗡️
Holy hell batman! Sarah unleashes one helluva rollercoaster with this action packed, hard hitting, heart pounding, pulse racing, nailbiting, block busting wild ride, grabbing you from the first sentence to the last word, catapulting this gem to a whole new level. Traversing a nightmare full of riveting drama, gripping intrigue, heartbreaking loss, escalating danger, spiraling suspense and nerve racking situations, reaching deep for every fiber of strength in a fierce surge of determination, fusing this jewel together seamlessly. Misfortune and shenanigans descend in a tempest of cunning strategies and shrewd maneuvers, obscured perimeters and blurred fringes solidify as limitations are amplified and tested, secrets confessed, revelations unmasked and promises made, blasting this baby into a frenzy with astonishing results, bursting this baby to life brilliantly. The characters, interactions and charged atmosphere along with relatable qualities and individual traits add depth and diversity, transforming into amazing personalities. Throw in 100% on point realism, raising the stakes with such graphic scenarios that are so colorfully descriptive and vividly detailed its like you're living it with them instead of on the sidelines. Fantastic job Sarah, thanks for sharing the little gem with us.

Ezri is still dealing with her grief over losing Desmond. She refuses to let the case become a cold case. Ezri is tracking down the order about the evil they unleashed. Ezri realizes that there is major developments with the order and their magic. Ezri and TJ make a major decision with their lives. Ezri will have to make a sacrifice she doesn't want to, but will do whatever she can to keep people safe

This was really good book, quite the ending for Ezri. I really enjoyed this series and sorry that it is over for these characters. There is something for everyone in this book/ series. This ending has some twist and turns before the final showdown.

I would especially like to thank Booksprout and Movement Publishing as well as the author for allowing me to read the entire series.

We learn that this last prophecy could be the end of Ezri.

She swears that she will take revenge for the unthinkable murder that took place. She will try by all means to find the killer. She will have to question her work as a Savior.

A last book I loved, a gripping, captivating, addictive story, full of suspense and twists and turns with characters that are as endearing as ever. Can't wait for the complete series to come out in full print.

So wow...a very beautiful series come to an end, bringing with it the end to one amazing series. As with the other books in this series, the story was written at a consistent medium to fast pace, and plots & sub-plots were nicely inter-twined.

The ending was beautifully written, it was very poignant and tender yet full of hope.

Hard to believe it has come to the end but what a way to go. Ezri is still reeling from the ending in the last book but that does not stop her. It was action packed and full of great characters and fun to see what she would do and what choices she would make. Just fun and entertaining to read. Kept me reading to the end to see how it would end

She is looking for justice for the death of an ally but it may be more difficult than she thought it would be. She is stalked by evil so she needs to work harder to get the justice she is looking for. Can she get her justice? What will she have to do? See how she gets on
