When a classic car thief strikes in Durham, North Carolina, motorcycle cop Shae Sharpe finds herself in hot pursuit of a hot rod and up against a hot deputy with a hot bod.
Shae’s bust might be big, but her heart is bigger, and she’ll do everything in her power to track down the missing Barracuda stolen from a disabled veteran - even if it means crossing into Deputy Sexy’s dangerous turf.
Award-winning author Diane Kelly writes romance and romantic mysteries featuring feisty heroines, quirky sidekicks, and sexy leading men, with humor that leaves readers laughing out loud.
Happy Publication Day on May 15, 2020, to Diane Kelly for the release of her novella Another Big Bust. This book is the second in her Busted series about female motorcycle cops. Be sure to check out my author interview with Diane regarding the first book Busted! on my website booksandrecipes.com. I also have an excellent recipe for Frosted Cheerwine Brownies, which are made from our protagonist's favorite soft drink.
Shae Sharpe is a motorcycle cop in Durham, North Carolina. She is honest, caring, helpful, and enjoys her job. She is blonde, attractive, and quite buxom. During work, Shae has a chance encounter with her father, who she has not seen since he’d taken off twenty years ago with the cash Shae’s mother had earned as a cashier at a grocery store. After this upsetting incident, Shae unwinds by riding with her all-female motorcycle club, The Dangerous Curves. The club’s founder, Trixie, is Shae’s friend and mentor. Trixie encourages Shae to learn to forgive her father. That is easier said than done since he left the family penniless and homeless. Shae, her mother, and sister were forced to live in their car after being evicted.
Back on the job, Shae learns that there have been several recent thefts of classic muscle cars in the Raleigh-Durham area. Within a few hours, another theft is reported. This time it is a 1970 lime green Barracuda that has been stolen from a disabled vet. The car speeds by Shae, who takes chase. The car continues into the next county, so Shae calls for backup from the Chatham County Sheriff’s department. An unusual road obstacle stops Shae from pursuing the criminal.
The Chatham County Sheriff’s deputy who arrives is Zane Archer. Shae immediately feels an attraction to him. Shae gets permission to help the Durham police investigator assigned to the case, and later gets permission to do a joint investigation with Zane Archer in Chatham County. Will Deputy Archer try to steal all the thunder if the crook is captured?
This novella is short, but I found myself very drawn to Shae’s character. She must deal with her personal relationship with her father, her first attempt to do detective work, and the possible love interest with Zane.
Cute cozy/romance. A thief stealing classic cars takes a Barracuda from an old disabled veteran. A classic Bel Air is also stolen along with an Aston Martin. Shae Sharpe is a motorcycle cop. She finds herself in hot pursuit of the stolen Barracuda. And just misses capturing the thief. But she does run into a hot deputy from the next county. Together they go after the thief. Want a break from too much seriousness? This is a good book for that!
Diane Kelly has been one of my favorite authors since I discovered her Tara Holloway series several years ago. I got the opportunity to read an early copy of Another Big Bust and jumped at it. I’m glad I did! I really enjoyed this book.
This is a novella length book but it still contains a good story. Shae Sharpe is a motorcycle cop with the Durham Police Department who becomes involved in investigating a recent string of stolen classic cars. The car thief leads her into neighboring Chatham County where Officer Sharpe becomes acquainted with the sexy detective Zane Archer. The two decide to team up and search for the thief. We also see Shae deal with family issues as well.
This book had a solid mystery and good, interesting characters that I became invested in. I enjoyed this book and look forward to reading future books by Diane Kelly. Her books are solid stories with great characters, well thought out mysteries (even if they aren’t murders), and have several laugh out loud moments. This book was no exception. I highly recommend it for a short, fun read.
I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. My thanks to Diane Kelly. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
I really enjoyed this offering from author Diane Kelly and thank my friend Kerrin for recommending it. I loved Shae and thought she was perfect as the main character. What I didn't expect was to be so wonderfully entertained by this book...I laughed a lot reading it. Kelly's tongue in cheek humour really resonated with me and added another element to this already great story. Although a lighter, shorter crime read it certainly was not light on quality. Diane Kelly managed to give us a well rounded story with characters that jumped off the page, were relatable and felt like friends. I will definitely be looking out for and reading more books by this author.
If you like cozy mysteries and lighthearted summer reads, you should read Another Big Bust, the second installment in Diane Kelly's Busted series.
Classic cars have been stolen and motorcycle officer Shae Sharpe is on the case. Along the way she meets a sexy deputy who joins the search and fun and romance follow.
Another Big Bust is the second book in the Busted series. Surprisingly, it's not a sequel to Busted. Instead, this book features motorcycle cop Shae Sharpe, who also has 38DD bust (I'm sensing a trend here); Another Big Bust is set in Durham, North Carolina, so it also has a southern setting.
Like its predecessor, this cozy doesn't have a murder (the crime this time is vintage auto theft). There are numerous self-references by the main character to her chest, but it didn't feel as over-the-top as it did in the first.book.
The book itself is a light, fun read. It felt like there were fewer named characters this time around, so you had a smaller pool to draw from when trying to figure out who the crook was. The love interest in this installment is a cop from the next county over, which made for an interesting professional dynamic throughout. There were one or two questionable police tactics they used in trying to solve the crime (I'm not convinced the leaf-blower trick would stand up in court, for example), but they're relatively minor.
Much like the earlier book, I think this would be a book worth picking up if you're looking for a mental snack.
This is the second in the series. I have not read the first. I listened to this on Hoopla via my local library. I enjoy Diane Kelly’s writing style. She infuses humor with mystery and some romance. This series is about Shae Sharpe, a motorcycle cop in Durham, North Carolina. She happens to be on the busty and young side of life.
This installment has her arresting her father after not seeing him for 20 or so years, trying to find a vintage car thief who doesn’t car who he is hurting. Shae becomes aware of a disabled veteran couple whose car is stolen at the hospital.
While in pursuit of recently stolen car, she meets Chatham County Sheriff’s deputy , Zane Archer They join forces to find the thief or thieves. I liked the interaction of the characters, the biking club, and the bit of romance/flirting in the story.
I am eagerly moving on to book 3 on audio as my library does not have book 1 on audio but I’ll check it out when my TBR pile has a gap in it.
This is the second book of the series which I LOVED. I could not put the book down until I read the last sentence. Diane has a way of keeping her readers captivated with her storytelling. This book is about classic cars being stolen which has motorcycle cop Shae joining forces with the next county's Deputy Zane to work together to BUST the car thieves. A light cozy mystery filled with laughs, humor, family and even a touch of romance thrown into the mix. Pick up this book, a glass of wine or beverage and settle down to enjoy some reading time cause you don't want to miss out on this adventure. I cannot wait for the next book in the series to come out to read about the next Motorcycle's Cop Biker Chick's adventure. Thank you, Diane for being an amazing author that keeps a reader as myself reaching for your next book.
“Another Big Bust” is essentially book one retold but not as well. It's well-written and funny enough but doesn't quite have the same impact. It's more of a long novella than a full book and, as a result, it lacks depth. It's also a very linear story, find the car thieves, get more acquainted with Zack, the end! Shae Sharpe replaces Marnie Muckleroy but, for those who care, has an equally impressive chest. Recovering and returning the stolen Barracuda to dying military veteran Jerry Beaumont provides the heart in the book, but, to my mind, it didn't quite work. I think it was written in a hurry, perhaps in mind of cashing in on the success of 'Busted', but it is more of a stopgap in the series than any kind of a progression. It's a potboiler and almost instantly forgettable. 2.5 Stars rounded up to 3 Stars because I like the writing style.
In this 2nd book of the "Busted" series by Diane Kelly, once again we get to ride along with Shae Sharpe on her motorcycle adventures. This time she is attempting to catch a car thief who is after classic cars. Chasing the thief, she crosses the county line and ends up meeting sexy Deputy Zane Archer. Shae and Zane team up to try to catch the thief and return one of the stolen cars to the rightful owners. Will they succeed or will this be a bust??
I haven't read Diane Kelly's "Paw Enforcement" series. I do love her "Busted" series and "House Flipper" series and if you haven't read either of those, I ask WHY NOT???, you are missing out on great entertainment.
I loved this story 😍. Kick a** women, hunky sheriff's deputies and classic cars, what more can a girl ask for? 😉 The action was intense and the bad guy was BUSTED but the favorite part was the veteran getting his car back 😊. I got a little teary 😭 eyed on that one. 😉 Love this series and this author! 😁
Another Big Bust is another fun read by Diane Kelly! Her female characters are strong, kick-ass women. This books is a stand-alone format, so reading either book out of sequence won’t leave you lost. A little mystery, a little romance, a lot if fun!
I Loved This series where female motorcycle cops play the pivotal roles. Ms Kelly writes very entertaining stories. I've said it before and I'm sure I will say it again, support the Blue Line and enjoy yourself at the same time!
Okay I really enjoyed this one again. So books 2 & 3 were both really entertaining and enjoyable reads and honestly if more like this were added to the series, I’d keep reading! It was just book one that I struggled with.
I listened to this short and sweet audio novella. It was part silly, part funny, part ‘hokey’, and part endearing. A quick light-hearted mystery romance with family relationships added to the mix. Enjoyable.
The lively detail in this high quality mystery really brings the characters to life. Feel the rush of riding with the Dangerous Curves? Very well written.
Are you fucking kidding me? DNF. Also, the author doesn't know anything about big breast sizes. D/DD is just the largest size you can buy in a regular store. Breasts come in sizes far larger than DD, and using that particular size just makes me think that you're a horny idiot who didn't bother to do any research.
