The latest taunt from my stalker reminded me I was nothing more than a possession to my father, to the Reapers, to Archer D’Ath. Even to Kody and Steele. Princess Danvers—the prize.
His wife.
Archer D’Ath’s wife.
I hate them. They lied to me. Over and over again. I knew they were lying, and I hate myself for letting it happen. For believing in the fake relationships I want so desperately to be real.
Fake.
It’s all fucking fake. My stalker won’t let me go. None of them will. Archer and his boys think they control me. My stalker wants to possess me. I’m not an idiot, I know my newest allies are using me too.
That’s fine.
I’ll use all of them. I’ll use them to take back what’s mine.
Now I'm definitely thinking this series did not have to be four books, especially considering not a whole lot actually happened in this book. This stalker plot line is being dragggeeedddd out and Madison Kate is being plain stupid when it comes to that stalker. She's not suspicious at all about specific people, even when they do pretty suspicious things...and you're telling me this stalker still knows how to get to the house without being seen? With the security and tech gurus that the guys are?? And with literal security people working the house? Sure. And now Madison Kate has more and more people falling for her to the point where every main male character wants her. Which is annoying.
I think the only point of this book was to develop the relationship between Archer and Madison Kate. And that's it. Here's hoping the last book isn't disappointing.
I swear to god, this series has a SERIOUS chokehold on me. Words cannot describe how much I absolutely love. This. Series.
I have grown so attached to every single one of these characters. Tate James...THE ENDING OF THIS BOOK WAS EVEN MORE CRIMINAL THAN THE FIRST ONE. HOW DARE YOU?
I don't even know what to say other than I love this. I love Madison Kate, I love Kody, I love Steele, hell, I even love Archer. Not only am I crying from this ending, but I am also crying from grief of this series being over in one more book.
I cannot stress this enough...PLEASE read this series. I beg of you. If you love (or are curious about) reverse harem, a seriously thrilling and gripping plot, some serious spice, and anyone who touches the FMC dies (literally)? Trust me, this would absolutely be for you.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I am thoroughly obsessed with this series I'm so sad just thinking I only have 1 more book left after this 😭
I received a copy of this book via NetGalley (thank you SOURCEBOOKS Bloom Books). All thoughts and opinions are my own.
✅ Sexual tension and smut ✅️ Reverse harem ✅ Pace 🆗 Love interests 🆗 Not much angst or groveling 🆗❌ Plot (what plot?) ❌ Madison Kate ❌ Scott (why the fuck was he added to the story?) ❌ Overuse of the words “babe”, “baby”, and “fuck” ❗️❗️Cliffhanger ❗️❗️Trigger warnings: brief mention of torture, murder, stalker, controlling behavior
This is getting quite redundant and repetitive… and boring… and annoying too.
I think I’m going to stop this here, I really don’t feel like reading the fourth book and get another 400 pages of the same repetitive, illogical, bullshit.
➡️9 reasons why I am done with this series.
❌➡️ MK’s behavior is so annoying in this third book. She’s just dumb. She has a stalker AND there is a price on her head, but she somehow continues to put herself in danger and act like a stupid, spoiled brat at times. As an example of how little she thinks about her security, dead bodies were found in her apartment block and she ran to the scene instead of staying put and locked into her apartment. I mean, she’s asking for trouble at that point. She also tells EVERYTHING to Bree, even the highly illegal stuff she did with the guys, and while I admire the strength of their friendship, there are still things that you don’t tell your best friend. At that point, I’m more interested in learning more about Cass, than reading another chapter of MK’s repetitive loop of being pissed at the guys but also wanting to get railed by them.
❌➡️ MK became a cold-blooded killer. I get that she was tired of feeling afraid, but It was just such a sudden and useless change. Learning to fight and defend herself? Sure, I’m all in. Learning how to shoot to feel more confident and be able to protect herself, also yes I guess, but shooting people in the face because she feels threatened and not feeling any remorse? No thanks.
❌➡️ I also HAVE to mention, because it’s been bugging me since the first book, that MK’s fear of car accidents makes no sense at all. She is afraid of being in a car accident, which is totally understandable considering her past, and she gets pissed at Archer in the first book when he doesn’t put his seatbelt on. Yet she rode on the guys’ laps many times in the first book, which is not my definition of safe at all, and in this book, she gave a blowjob to Archer while he was driving. How does that make any sense? She is scared shitless when they go too fast or don’t fasten their seatbelt, but she doesn’t mind if they are not focused on driving because of her, or if she is not properly attached to her seat? This annoyed me SO MUCH since the first book, I had to vent off and mention it.
❌➡️ MK also has this tendencie to learn information twice and be shocked about it both times. I remember her overhearing a conversation between the guys and ehr dad in the previous books where her dad said that he framed Dallas and sent him to jail to keep him away from MK, but she was utterly shocked when Bree told her that Dallas was framed. She also learned twice in this book that the Timberwolves are not all dead, just more hidden, and both times she asked almost the same question, word for word. I don't know if it's bad editing or just another proof of her stupidity at that point.
❌➡️ Honestly, the stalker and hitman plotlines both feel like they’ve been dragged on enough and are just exhausted by now. Also, how the fuck can somehow still get into MK’s house with all the high-tech security?! Just, how???? I don’t get it. They have cameras, motion sensors, bodyguards, and alarms, and still, they manage to bypass them every single time. Also, where is the police? I understand that the guys are well-equipped enough to deal with this, but the police should still be involved and investigate. At that point, I feel that they just dropped the issue and decided to let the guys handle it independently. After 3 books, I just want to know who is behind it all, thanks. I’m losing interest because it’s dragging on too much.
❌➡️How dumb are Archer, Steele and Kody? Not only did they forced MK to take part into a sexy/burlesque photoshoot with Archer, they then arranged for the pictures to be on huge billboards across the city. I repeat: they had huge pictures of MK in sexy lingerie all around the city, and they thought it would be a nice surprise for her. Even worse, they never thought about the fact that it might enrage and/or provoke her possessive and unhinged stalker?!
❌➡️ Madison Kate’s life is dictated by her libido. I swear. She spends half of her time being pissed at the guys and wanting to hurt them, and the other half having sex with them because she just can’t resist them and their sculpted bodies. The cliffhanger at the end of the second book promised angst and groveling for this one, but no, MK almost instantly forgave Steele and Kody, and it took only a few conversations with Archer to get him off the hook too. It was so disappointing, I was there for the angst and groveling and it didn’t deliver.
❌➡️ I know this book was about her relationship with Archer getting stronger, but I can’t stand the dude. He treated her like shit, but he told her that he did what he did to save her from a worse fate. As if that excuses all the nasty things he said to her, and how he made her feel like crap. But of course, that seems to be enough for her, because she promptly leaves on a 2-day sex-fest with him. Just to reassure herself that she is a strong, independent woman though, she tells him that he will not have sex for one week afterward, because she hasn’t forgiven him yet. Girl?! Get a grip! Did you forgive him or not? Because having sex with him for 2 days and letting him kiss you whenever he pleases after gives me the impression that you have, which is disappointing because even if he did everything he did to protect her, the fact remains that he treated her like shit and only now decided to apologize because he was given an ultimatum.
❌➡️ Also, WTF was that about Scott? What a pointless, useless addition to the cast. He started as a nice guy, but quickly became annoying, aggressive, and possessive, and it was no surprise at all that he ended up in the suspect pool. It was such a weak attempt to cast doubt over him, and it was so sudden
”I don't hate you, Kate," he mumbled, his voice so thick with sleep I could barely make out the words. "I hate myself... for loving you when I have no right to.”
this book was so unintentionally hilarious and I’m experiencing the best brain rot reading this series. i loved that Archer and Madison FINALLY decided to sort out their issues and that rain scene .. give me 10 more of them thank you so much! 😮💨 i can finally say that i like all three of the men now, there were so many good moments with each of them individually having time to tell Madison how they feel about her. there’s just something so addictive about these books and of course the cliffhanger this time had me screaming cause WTF !! NOT MY BABY .. TAKE IT BACK RN 😩
”You're my whole world," he whispered in my ear. "You're my reason for breathing, and I'll personally slit the throats of anyone who tries to take you away from me.”
i still don’t care about the stalker side plot and i found the new character Scott to be so damn annoying, he’s the type of guy who continually pushes boundaries and just doesn’t know how to take a hint. it’s honestly all over the place but as long as the romance keeps delivering, I’ll keep reading. i have a couple of theories of who the stalker/killer might be, I’d be surprised if it isn’t who i think it is. I’m kinda sad that the next book will be the final one though cause im definitely gonna miss Steele, Kody and Archer’s antics but I’m just curious to see how everything is going to wrap up.
The following ratings are out of 5: Narration: 🎧🎧🎧🎧🎧 Romance: 💙💚🖤💜 Heat/Steam: 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 Story/Plot: 📕📗📘📙📒 World building: 🌎🌍🌏🌎🌏 Character development: 😳🤬😏🤓😎
The heroine:Madison Kate Danvers - Her mother was murdered when she was 11 years old. Prior to the murder, her mother was stalked. MK is now being stalked and she thinks it is the same person that stalked her mom is after her.
The Hero(es):Archer D’Ath (a.k.a. blue eyes) - an MMA fighter with secrets. Max Steele (a.k.a. grey eyes) - a nice guy that isn’t always so nice. Kodiak “Kody” James (a.k.a. green eyes) - he is the first one to make a joke or comfort MK but he has lied to her as well.
The Story: Madison Kate is constantly under fire, from a stalker, a killer and the three guys she has become close to but has never trusted. Some of the secrets are revealed but what she finds makes her life even more complicated than it was before and she no longer trusts the guys.
This reverse harem is a bit different than many in that the heroine is intimate with two of the guys but has a hugely contentious relationship with the third Hero. Though that is not to say there isn’t a ton of chemistry between Archer and Madison Kate.
The narration by Brook Daniels and Lucas Webley was fabulous. One of the main issues I have with audiobooks that have male and female narrators, is the fact that if a chapter is told in the female POV the female narrator does both the male and female voices during that chapter and the same for the male narrator. This one was done more like acting, where within one chapter we get both male and female narration, so there isn’t a man trying to do a woman’s voice and the like.
The storylines were terrific and I was kept on my toes throughout the entire series so far. Nothing at all is predictable and I really like the different story arcs. There is romance, steam, mystery, suspense and more. If I had one criticism it is that Madison Kate is a nice person but she is quite mean to Archer. She had her reasons in the beginning and granted he was never nice to her. However someone has to be the bigger person at some point and their animosity went on a bit too long.
Fuck! I don't even know how to start this Review! Fuck fuck fuck fuck! Okay.... Deep breath! Cool down!
Let's get one thing straight from the start... This book is WAYYYY BETTER then the previous in this series... By a lonnnng distance better! So much that I'm tempted to downgrade my rating for them, just to empathize how much better this one is!
I was hating so much Archer already... "Like Dude? Can you please take a hint and pull your head out of your fucking ass please?" He probably listened, because he did all the right grovelling to my... I mean, MK's heart! And oh boy... That sex scene was as hot as it was late!
This book was perfect because although it was as big as the others, it hadn't empty or repetitive fillers. It was really action packed and with enough amount of angst, sex and suspense.
Her relationship with the boys are finally where it should be, and all her interactions with them just showed how much they all grew up in trust and love for each other.
BUTTTTTTT (and if you didn't notice, this is a huge BUT)
What. The. Actual. Fuck. Is your problem Tate James? How could you do that at the end? I'm not gonna lie here and pretend that I'm okay with that shit, lady.... You better redeem yourself in the last book... I'm not even kidding!
This is the worst cliffhanger that I've ever read! Period! The struggle is real!
F*cking Tate James, how could you do this to me… to us??
Actual rating 4.8 stars. So I love books that have more character development and growth over action and suspense. I feel like this series does have enough of that suspense and mystery to intrigue but it's really about the characters and their relationships. That is why this series has become one of my favourites I've read recently.
I love the evolution of MK. She acknowledges, understands and can accept what is.
I've said before that I hate when the 'bad boy' does a complete 180 and is suddenly super nice to the heroine and all is forgiven. That does not happen here. MK calls Archer out on his bullsh*t and it's only when he opens up and explains that she finally lets him in. I also love how their relationship doesn't completely change. It's not rewriting their history, it's developing and growing as they become closer.
After the revelation at the end of the previous book, I really appreciated that Kody and Steel truly tried to make up for their respective involvement. But they went about it in different ways. It's great when characters actually feel like individuals.
ALL that being said, I feel a little conflicted liking these characters so much when they're really not great people. I mean, they're possessive, dominating and oh yeah, they MURDER people! This is why I dislike reading about gangs and such because my brain is like; 'but they're kind to HER and sweet and sexy… BUT THEY MURDER PEOPLE!!'
Anyway, I am really mad at James for ending the book the way she did. But honestly, I don't blame her… it's a really good cliffhanger. Seriously, do all her books end with a punch in the gut??
It would have been 5 stars if not for some issues with the audio.
3.5 stars, as usual rounded up to 4... I'm starting to sense a pattern here.
After the bombshell dropped at the end of the last book, MK moves out to get away from the boys and into an apartment paid for by Zane, Archer's estranged older brother. Cue a bunch more gang bullshit, an escalation of the situation with MK's deranged stalker/murderer, and Archer finally getting on board with the RH plan.
Okay, I can't be bothered to divide up these points into pros and cons like I usually do, so I'm just going to give them all to you in one go and you can decide how you feel about everything.
➽ I'm very satisfied with how apologetic all the guys are for keeping secrets from MK. This was getting infuriating in the last couple of books, especially her poor 'revenges' against them. In this one, she doesn't really take revenge, but she does something that's arguably just as good: lets them basically fall at her feet like adoring puppies, declaring everlasting love, without giving very much in return. I'm happy with how the relationship progressed and I don't think there are any scores left that need to be evened.
➽ Goddamn, but this series gets even more crazy unrealistic with each passing book. Before, it was just OTT entertaining, but now it's getting annoying. Steele, Kody, and Archer are revealed to be mega-gangsters, the most powerful and wealthy people in the city at the age of like 22, they have people literally wetting themselves in fear and running away from them because of their vicious, murderous natures, every policeman is in their pocket, they have people in their 50s giving them obsequious respect, we see them torture and kill multiple people with immunity... I don't know, man. I just feel like this book took a very dark turn very quickly and it doesn't quite ring true to me.
➽ I've said before I appreciate how smart MK is, but in this book she seems to have lost several brain cells. Frequently she took many decisions for no other reason than plain stupidity which I KNEW would come back to bite her in the arse. And they did. I'm disappointed with how she dropped several IQ points.
➽ She also verged heavily on Mary Sue territory here. Out of the 8 major guys in this instalment, 3 are currently involved with her, 2 desperately want to be, and 1 used to be. This is getting a bit ridiculous, especially as there's no other female in the series except Bree to balance it out. I absolutely rolled my eyes when a totally random man, who does not even KNOW MK, warned her guys all seriously to 'treat her like she's precious' and 'take damn good care of her' and they solemnly agreed. Major cringe, that scene.
➽ I'm starting to feel like Archer is a more important guy in the harem than the others, and this is never a good feeling to have. For one, he's the only guy whose first-person POV we get. Second, he's the only one whose family background we know. I don't understand how, 3 books into a 4-book series, MK has shown not a smidgen of interest in Max and Kody's personal lives. Like, where are their parents? How did they meet each other? Kody especially feels very deprived of attention and I don't like it.
➽ I found Bree a little more tolerable in this book - she was slightly more fleshed out and less like a random sex-obsessed cardboard cut-out.
Overall, this gets rounded up to 4 stars because it was satisfyingly long and it's kind of like crack - bad for me but highly addictive. I genuinely like these characters and I'm looking forward to the sequel. I just hope Tate James gives us a slightly more intelligent heroine. More sex scenes wouldn't go amiss, either...
Ugh. This series is getting to be ridiculously drawn out and the characters are growing more and more annoying. Like another reviewer mentioned, MK can't decide if she wants to screw the guys or stick to her guns and not let them treat her like trash. Which yeah, angst like that is great, but in book three?! When the guys keep fucking up?!
╰⊰✿ "You're my whole world, Kate, "You're my reason for breathing, and I'll personally slit the throats of anyone who tries to take you away from me." ✿⊱╮
One review for entire series I read this 4 book series in a week. Was it jaw-dropping? No, but it was quite a fun read and entertaining. With many series, I get bored and will stop and come back to it. With this series, I just read them one after another.
MK and her friend Bree go out one night to watch a fight at a club. After the fight, a melee breaks out. When bree and MK get caught up, 3 guys help them out. Bree goes to get the car, and the guys tell MK to wait, and they're calling her a ride as Bree had to take off due to police. One of the guys put his sweatshirt on MK before they take off. Mk sees the car coming, and to her surprise, it's the police. The police find a key to the club where the melee broke out. She's arrested. Since MK comes from a wealthy family, her dad is furious and sends her to her aunts in Cambodia. After a year, the charges are dropped, and she comes home. Once home, MK is shocked to find the 3 guys who set her up to take the fall living in her dad's house only to find out that Archers mom is now engaged to her dad. MK is furious but vows to not let them win as she just needs to hang on a couple more years to get her inheritance from her mom's death. Mk quickly realizes there is a familiarity with these 3, and it seems that her dad answers to them. She can't figure out why. Just as she starts to ask questions, she quickly finds she had a stalker and someone is trying to kill her, and why do these 3 guys insist on keeping her safe? This series was hot. 🥵
Check your trigger warnings on this one as there's a lot of violence, adult content, and R
I'm actually surprised at how much I've been enjoying this series. 🤞 book number 3 delivers
This has been such an addicting series and I’m SO thankful all 4 books are out so I can read them back to back. The cliffhanger from book 2 was killer.
This series is super repetitive and dragged out and I’m not really invested in the whole “who’s the stalker” thing that’s going on, so I think I’m gonna cut my losses here and stop while I can still look back on this series as an enjoyable enough experience (and after making the decision to not continue, I deep dived google for some heavy spoilers on book four and do not regret my decision or feel like I’m missing out on much).
I feel like these books definitely had an addictive quality to them even though nothing actually ever happened… and I’m gonna give the credit for that to the guys (which let’s be honest, were the only reason I actually made it through three of these books).
I enjoyed the gangster, possessive alpha-ness they all gave off even though I thought their whole “we’re the scariest gangsters in town” vibe was super unrealistic considering they’re all under the age of 23 and kept not being able to protect Madison when she needed them most… but wtvr… that’s a whole other thing I don’t want to bother getting into… my point is, is that I liked each of the guys - but I didn’t particularly enjoy the reverse harem aspect… I think this is definitely a me thing though because I’m always wary of RH since I’m a very jealous person… and the only way I can handle it is when somehow the book doesn’t make me get jealous of each of them… but this story was so heavy on the fact that all of the guys were jealous of each other and wanted her to themselves… but it’s what Madison wanted, so they all were gonna deal with it between themselves to make her happy… and that’s the type of RH situation I’m not personally a huge fan of.
But like I said, I have a feeling this is definitely a me thing so obviously this series just wasn’t meant for me as a reader… and I still enjoyed my time with it and am happy I gave it a shot… I’m just not emotionally invested enough to keep going.
Okay. I've deleted my original review. I've had a couple of days to cool down and collect my thoughts more calmly.
I had originally DNF'ed this book. That in and of itself never sits right with me. I don't like rating a book that I haven't finished, but I also don't like having nothing to show for time and effort put into reading something, especially when I spent money on it. So, reluctantly, and at triple the speed, I finished the audiobook.
Sadly, I still hold all of the same opinions as before, and I can't in good conscience change my rating given how problematic I find so many of the elements in this series. That being said, I also know that the author poured a lot into writing these books in the name of her mother, and as a momma's girl and writer myself, I just can't ream an author that is trying their best. It just feels wrong and mean.
That's not to say I wouldn't if it seemed like the author was being exploitive in an immoral way, then I'd have no problem with it, but...I feel like this is more a case of the writing and less a reflection on the moral character of the author. So I've deleted my original, less-than-nice review in order to write a new, more collected, more objective review.
Here are the issues I had with this book/series, and I'll state them as clinically as possible:
1. MK had her freedoms and power stolen from her by these three domineering men that were strangers to her, but because they were attractive enough, hot enough, and tough enough, she let it slide that she'd essentially been trafficked. Granted, I've read dark taboo romance dealing with these elements in the past and it was done as well as could be expected, but in this case, not so much. There is a balance between the heroine's fight for her autonomy and the discovery that the male character(s) aren't as bad as they initially seem that must take place in order for this kind of story to work. That didn't happen here. MK had zero fight and handed herself over to each guy countless times, particularly following harrowing moments of discovery in just how much each of them had been lying to and betraying her. I can suspend my disbelief only so much before it simply comes off as implausible. I find it very hard to believe that any sane woman would be even remotely turned on my men that turned out to essentially treat her like archaic property.
2. The word babe/baby was used nearly 200 times in this book alone. The work fuck or a variation of it was used nearly 600 times. Basically, the language felt like a lot of filler and overcompensation for a less-than-strong voice. I have absolutely zero issue with cursing in a book, but everything has its limit before it starts to feel more of the author's voice and less of the character's voice.
3. There were some scenes that REALLY were difficult to read for their misogynistic quality. An example: After two of the male leads have managed to seduce MK and everyone is happy, MK is blindsided by a meeting in her father's office with her father, his girlfriend, Archer, Kody, and Steele. In this meeting MK's father tells her that unless she submits to the boys, he will have her drugged, declared mentally unfit, and committed to a mental hospital indefinitely. The men who she has been steadily falling for take the father's side. All of this is well and fine for a pretty blunt plot device, but it is quickly followed by MK being so overcome with lust over Kody and Steele that she just...forgives them for taking away her freedom, power, and autonomy. This happened throughout the series A LOT. There were countless moments before the official reconciliation in this book where one or more of the boys would take away MK's choices. Again, it's a romance, so we all know that their true intentions and love for MK will come to light, but she doesn't. She willingly submits every single time without fail, and the only reasoning for it is that they're so hot and attractive that she can't resist them. This represents a caricature of a woman that even in the smuttiest smut on the totem pole, I firmly believe we should be beyond at this point.
4. Given the nature of the secret they had been keeping from MK, I find their willingness to sleep with her, knowing full well that she would likely not give them the time of day had she known, in line with sexual assault. Straight up, a lie that big is just unforgivable in and of itself, but to get her in bed knowing that she wouldn't be there if they weren't purposely keeping her ignorant is just wrong. Again, yes, we the readers know that there is more to the story, but MK doesn't.
I think that the main reason I was so incensed when I first got to my original DNF point was knowing all of the things I've listed here, seeing how blatantly obvious they were, yet knowing how highly rated these books were by women. It genuinely got to me seeing how few women out of thousands even cared. Women aren't rabid sexpots with zero grasp on reality. It just killed seeing not only this being presented in the book, but seeing it validated by the absence of discussion or even a mere disclaimer in any of the 3-5 star reviews.
All of this being said, I can admit that there must be some discordant X-factor involved here because I've never consistently given three consecutive 1-star reviews before. In fact, I don't think most people have. Usually, after the first 1-star rating, you'd...like...stop reading that series. Yet I managed to make it to the end of book 3. And I'm sitting here knowing that there is only one book to go and weighing my OCD against how problematic these books are. Three 1-star ratings and I'm considering somewhere in my mind if I should round out the series and just read the last book. I say that even knowing that I'll likely rate that one as 1-star as well. I cannot fathom what the secret element in these books are that is tapping into some masochistic part of me, but here we are I guess.
The audiobook was great, complete with animations and music. Only downside was when Archer speaks, his voice was gruff and low that I couldn't make out what he said sometimes.
Book 3 was a good read and audiobook. Madison Kate started the story with having her own place, living under the protection of another gang. This gang is related to one of the three guys she used to live with. She was mad at them for keeping a life altering secret from her so she moved out. But eventually the guys were able to reconcile with her and got her to move back especially when her life was still in danger even though she was living far away from the guys.
Even though the guy who attempted to kill her was dead, her stalker was still at it. Sometimes the stalker seems to be up close and personal by leaving messages in her bathroom mirror and stealing her underwear. This book 3, people close to Madison Kate got hurt. The ending was unexpected.
Madison Kate has all the guys' attention, even the needy one who couldn't take no for an answer. What a dream life, except being in danger part, she was loved all around.
Thank you Bloom Books for the opportunity to read and review. I listened to an audiobook via Libby App.
This series has kept me totally gripped it’s seriously amazing and I’ve been completely glued to the unfolding action. After the fallout from the previous book, MK is feeling seriously betrayed and Steele and Kody are having to do some serious damage control if they want a chance to win back their girl. MK is trying to separate herself from her heartbreak but it’s only a matter of time before she once again succumbs to the boy's allure and contrite heartfelt apologies. They are actually completely gutted at how much they have hurt Madison Kate and are prepared to do anything to make it up to her.
There's also a new player added to the mix in the form of Scott a new friend who turns out to be far more problematic than anyone ever for-sore. I’m also having to eat my words over Bree as her deal is finally revealed which turned out to be slightly underwhelming and completely normal compared to all the usual shadow grove chaos. Then there’s Archer who with the weight of his secrets finally removed and out in the open seems like a whole new man. Well he’s still a total control freak and a bit of an ass but he’s finally shows his hidden gooey side just for MK and it was epic and all sorts of explosive.
I loved this instalment so much and it was great to see these four finally all on the same page. There was some shade thrown on the identity of the stalker. People are still gunning for our princesses head and then there was that cliffhanger which was so an OMG moment. This was full of danger and passion and I was completely enthralled. I’m incredibly excited to read the finale but will also be sad when this concludes as I’ve been totally consumed by this story.
Finally, can I just say Jace bloody hilarious that was total reading gold and I appreciated it massively but I don’t think we’ve seen the last of Jace either. This gets all the thumbs from me it was seriously brilliant.
"Why are you hate me so much, Archer D' Ath?" "I don't hate you, Kate... I hate myself... for loving you when I have no right to."
I'm a gallon of punishment since RH are frustrating the hell out of me, especially when the guy you preffer is the only one that's gets no action. But hell, what is happening when everything are changing and you're still frustrated??? Bahaha... Gawd!!! Reverse Harem books are messing with my head, but they are soooo addictive!!! I love this story and it gets better and better, even though it feels a little bit extreme and unreal!!!
"She was mine. And that was something she could never change."
Well, at the end of the previous book, i was left with my mouth wide open after these revelations, but I knew that stubborn MK will make the guys pay for that!!! And she did it!!! Yep, she had any right to do it, but the punishment doesn't go only for the guys, but herself as well!!! What it made me feel uneasy was her insistence to accuse for everything Archer!!! Yep, team Archer here, so back off!!! ;-) Kody and Steele seems to be more easily forgotten for everything, but Archer seems to be the root of all evil!!! Bahahaha...
"In your fucking dreams, D'Ath." "You don't even want to peek inside my dreams, Princess. It'd scar you for life."
Well, jokes aside, what a crazy book was that!!! MK's stalker is more ruthless and reckless than ever... A new addition has been made who made everything feel even more weird than before.. More alliances, more gang wars, more secrets and lies, more blood, more ruthlessness... More of everything!!! All of them were giving me whiplash, but i have to admit that my blood was pumping up and i just need more!!!
"I loved violence, and I was done pretending otherwise."
The romance part is more confusing than ever!!! These three ways things seems to work good, but i really don't know!!! I love all three boys very much, but I have a weakness toward Archer... and to me is the most intriguing character and he seems like a key player in this complicated chess game!!! I love how twisted he is and how this supposed hatred between him and MK is feeling like a foreplay!!! I live for the moments that these two are together!!! Of course, I love Steele and Kody and without them, this book wouldn't worth it!!!
"Yeah, I was all kind of fucked up. But so were these boys, so in some ways we were a match made in heaven. Or, you know, the other place."
As for Madison Kate??? Gawd, this chick is a God's gift!!! She has sooo many admires that it seems pretty unbelievable, but i like her... She knows how to play the guys and i admit that the girl has balls... I really can't wait to get to the bottom of this crazy and unreal story!!! I need freakin' answers!!! The possibilities are driving me crazy!!!
"He was making me appreciate every single moment of happiness and not put anything off until tomorrow. Because I had no idea just how many tomorrow I had left."
**I received an ARC for the exchange of an honest review**
Madison Kate finds herself tangled in a web of deception. After discovering that her father has sold her to Archer D’Ath, she is now legally married to him 🤯. The lies and secrets surrounding her relationships with Archer, Max (Steele), and Kody weigh heavily on her, and she is struggling with conflicting feelings about them. Despite anger and betrayal, Madison finds herself drawn to these men, even as she realizes that everything she thought was real might be nothing more than a facade. As her relentless stalker continues to haunt her, Madison is determined to reclaim her life, her freedom, and her identity. Nothing is as it seems, and with both a stalker and a hitman to look out for, while navigating seemingly fake relationships and hidden agendas, MK is pushed to her limits. Who to trust?
This was epic! I loved it! All the angst, drama, lust, and suspense 👏. It had a good mix of everything 👌. I looove a great reverse harem romance, and these young men are so protective, possessive, and loyal 😍! It got steamy 🥵🔥, but there were also lots of sweet and tender moments 🥰.
Man this took a turn for me. I really enjoyed the first two books in this series. This one was a total letdown. Nothing really happened here except Kate having sex with Steel and Kody. The last few sex scenes I ended up skipping.
We finally got answers from Asher! I can understand why he did what he did. I doesn’t make up for everything that he’s said to Madison Kate, but you can’t deny that he’s done nothing but try and keep her safe. To be honest, he’s my favorite out of the guys and I wish it was just him as endgame. 🤷🏽♀️
I know that this is a RH, but it doesn’t really feel like it. Mainly because Steel and Kody feel like the same person. Another reason is because it feels like it’s MK, Steel, and Kody against Asher.
We barely got any clues or further to who’s after Madison Kate. And to be honest it’s started to get exhausting. Thank goodness the next book is the last one, because how long can you stretch out someone trying to murder her?
This was long for no reason and I don’t really have much faith in the last book.
Wow, I really liked the first two books in this series but Fake was a huge disappointment for me. MK is 100% ruled by her libido and will think things like “I don’t think I’ll ever forgive these guys” and will screw them a paragraph later...I ended up skimming the second half of the book. As per other reviews I’ve read, the fact that if there’s a guy that’s not in love with her then he’s warning her guys to treat her like a queen is just too OTT for me. Can there please be some characters that aren’t in love with her?? I really felt like the series could have ended with this book but the plot was unnecessarily dragged out. Also, I’m getting really sick of the guys referring to her as “babe”, “baby girl”, and “gorgeous”. I was really hoping that MK would get smarter and not put herself directly into danger, but of course not. I just don’t understand why she gets upset when the guys are trying to protect her? There’s no reason for her to get pissed off when they are literally just trying to keep tabs on her so she doesn’t disappear. Idk, I could suspend disbelief for the first two books, but the plot and characters got way out of hand for me and I don’t think I have it in me to finish the series.
